A1 Not knowing what I need to learn, but being confident that I can is a great gift and one I want to pass on to Ss.
Love ! It is such a go-to tool that, aside from extension screencasting, I use only that
no worries!!! Just enjoy the ride and jump in as you can!
A1: use coding purposefully, i have kids coding but I don't feel like its purposeful
A1: Spreadsheets. Never really had a need, so I've remained in my aloof bubble with that one.
Totally agree! I've done more in the last month & gotten better but there is so much there! https://t.co/cOYWZ5RIFn

I think we could all use some of that! I am terrible at this too! https://t.co/03v8MMZpae
A1: Work-Life balance. I always feel as if I'm tipping one way or the other, never doing either justice.
is so awesome and fun - grab an existing game and go for it!
A1cont: I donāt know how to read TAB playing the guitar yet. Definitely want to get better on the guitar.
I don't know that you did. And now that its for sure on my radar, I'd love to get a look!
I love tweetdeck but it doesn't work well with the iphone- to much info in to small a space lol
lol. I am here for you bro!
A1: Google sheets. I know nothing about the formulas and addons. Must learn soon!!!
i'm trying to figure out how to afford one!

A1cont: I also want to spend more time w Google Draw.
I really just want to be like w her Google Draw skills.

Also and they've got made skill there too, all these ladies make us better
Thanks! Also need to come back and hang out with the little SEES genius crew, they can teach me!
. I know what you mean; 17 yrs & I still haven't found the right balance. https://t.co/355N0DMcdA
A1: Work-Life balance. I always feel as if I'm tipping one way or the other, never doing either justice.
seriously I need work on this too!! Let me know when you figure it out ;)
yes and yes... https://t.co/iBE8IyCqwe
A1 How to use Seesaw with a class and I wish I was better at Sheets doing formulas and what not
I just did my first one at EdCamp last month! Felt like I was the last one!
Once you learn about them, you will find the needs. :) They are so handy!
Signing in late after a long hiatus to
is on my mastery list as well. It's one of those that other Ts rave about. must be good.
Late to the chat. Kara from Kennewick, Dean/coach.
that's how I feel sometimes too!
I donāt know that one either! Good thing my kids are too little to judge me. :)
A1b I'm thinking all things coding is where I am going to focus my growth this summer, just makes sense
Interesting! What kind of projects do you do?
I'm in SoCal too...where you at? Welcome to tonight!
Confession, I SO struggle with lists on Twitter.
and prep for tomorrow's on Air!!
A1cont: Iād love to learn to play the ukulele too
no it's costly but worth it. Esp if you use the snagit extension.
Breakout EDU is ! You would rock it! https://t.co/NMF0Q3NX4X
A1: I havenāt ever done a . Hoping to change that isoon. I also feel hella rookie on &
always glad to help!! Loved ur padlet btw!
Why I haven't invested time in SeeSaw I'm not sure yet either. I've heard amazing things.
Google draw is my fav!!! So many amazing options with it!
Doing a session on in RC... Can't wait!
True is hard to hear sometimes, but it's public domain now (:
Ha! And I want to be like you with Khan academy and your awesome STEAM TOSA skills! =)
A1: I'd really love to earn my private pilots license & apply to become an astronaut š
We're twinsies on that one. My Ts self-start on that one a lot. I'm gonna make them teach _me_.
i need to try snapchat myself!
Hour of Code, Google CS First & Sphero. I am developing math lessons to go w/ but I want more
Consider a site like Weebly - you can drag and drop various elements, taking the coding out of the equation.
You won't regret it Monta!
https://t.co/d1EmmZqhcq
A1- I don't know how to blog but have decided to look into it- hoping to bring more positive to others
Ooooh! This is juicy! Question 2 will be here in 1 minute!
A1: I'm still learning how to make those pretty Hyperdocs that others do so well.
I know right, I'm most worried about getting my students Starbucks bribe order incorrect.
Who are the other two jacks in our deck?
This is a MUST see session! Anything with is SURE to be amazing! https://t.co/2f7cTKgeO8
When I finish, I'll be sure to send you the slides from my upcoming Seesaw session in June! https://t.co/O0fHJdmfHR
A1 I don't know much about and haven't used it a lot... yet!
I downloaded the app, but just havenāt bit the bullet and created an account. https://t.co/jRZWAnt8ZE
i need to try snapchat myself!
A1:Still need to learn lots more about my ... And ideally before I train teachers in June! š³
There are a lot of moving parts on that one, and they don't all fit the regular practices.
I just had some in class PD on that today with
A1: I don't know how to use GoogleClassroom. Our district isn't using it...yet. And I haven't done much coding or robotics. YET!
Thanks Jeremiah. It was truly magical. No other word to describe it.
the great thing about Hyperdocs is that it takes time but that it becomes so your own when you start to get good!
I think I talk plenty so hopefully I will love it but more important hopefully I help others in some way LOL@TeachingTechNix
Ermygosh-- yes!! Still working on my soufflĆ© skills š
I second Weebly! Easy to use and looks great with little effort!
my plan is to convince one of my sites to buy one so I can learn/teach it. and print lots!
Oh yes! I wish I could be like all of them.
, K-12 Reading Int. TOSA, W. Covina, "Lifelong learner, troubled techie"
Google Draw is the ultimate! Unlimited uses w/ creativity - Drew me to Google
Totes. Looks like it could be an addictive hobbyā¦that has pricey mistakes.
A2: I think most teachers are afraid of struggling in front of students, especially with tech.
A2 the constant feeling of being overwhelemed and not having enough time to prepare.
awww friend..I can help with both! VOX me if you ever have ?s!!!
Ditto! Mine still need a lot of work! https://t.co/hhNdEc6cye
A1: I'm still learning how to make those pretty Hyperdocs that others do so well.
Yes, that's true. Def have some songs I want to learn though.
Where I work we only see students 1 hr a week- we struggle w/ ensuring they have the power to teach themselves when they leave us
Joking, of course. I'm sure there are simple PC tools for it.
Camtasia rocks! Worth it!! Has replaced iMovie for me.
A2- Time to allow me in class. HS teachers are so pressed for time as it is, risking time on me is scary
I bet it's going to be awesome!
A2: It would either be weaving in the at the planning stage, or , or file management. Working on all of it.
A1: Arduino and Hyperduino anyone? I know the makerspace kids can do it, but I need some more lessons.
great goal to focus on! I need more time with this too!
A2: not just using the tech for substitution
A2: I think the Ts I work w would confess they donāt know how to manage all the papers in the classes - need to go paperless
A2: Accorind to its the Four C's
Iāve heard that Cert 2 is heavy on spreadsheet skills!
practice, practice, practice. I'm putting off practice right now...I have a couple shows coming up...
A1: I need to become proficient with Google Classroom and anything else says I must know! ;)
Oh, me too. Big time. https://t.co/jkRYPZQ6GK
A1: I'd really love to earn my private pilots license & apply to become an astronaut š
I'm skeptical.....I see students doing all sorts of silly things with it in HS
Takes practice and lots of tweaking. I find others that I like and learn from how they formatted.
https://t.co/GyX5hEaVuy
A1: I'm still learning how to make those pretty Hyperdocs that others do so well.
A2: Teachers struggle with finding way to balance all the new things they are supposed to be learning, including tech.
A2: Probably too much change š
Of course you are. You are always sharing with others.
This is a g8 opportunity for Ts to let Ss be the leaders- they usually know more than I do with Tech
A2 feeling the pressure to try too many things and not having the time to perfect any of them
I will have to check into it then. Nothing else compares to it at all?
We are definitely . Love that we're partners in so much.
yea. I am not sure if I like it, but I can't knock it till i try it
A2: Utilizing data to track student performance and track progress.
LOL, right, maybe we could be like voltron
A2: Likely different for different Ts. Google Classroom is still new to most though.
Yes. Many are. And afraid of that "downtime" or silence. I think that's a great chance to empower both Ts & Ss.
How to use tech for learning, not a toy, not just for typing - we just moved to 1:1 w/sporadic PD https://t.co/El2676RK83
This is so true! We have to move so fast sometimes that it's hard to focus on perfecting anything
Man... this is the story of EVERY teacher's life!
A2 Our Ts would mostly say Standards Referenced Grading at the HS. How do things like AP, finals, & college prep fit? Struggling
A2: My colleague would probably say she doesnāt manage her email inbox very well - over 1000 emails, right Mangla?
A2 Easy. Time management.
YES!! I love to introduce SAMR to my Ts to help them see it from a new perspective. https://t.co/qrGXbUVp7R
A2: not just using the tech for substitution
Yes please!!! I only know chords at the moment. Want to learn more piano/keyboard skills too.
A1: I'm still very new to coding.
A3. They never used ipads in elective classes. I don't see why ipads are are needed in the gym.
gotta pick one thing and build
Those are big topics for my teachers, too! https://t.co/LWJEXApeVr
A2: It would either be weaving in the at the planning stage, or , or file management. Working on all of it.
my SOCIAL of CHOICE!!! Let's play at VISTA! &
And sometimes getting them to see the linkage is the hard part, but worth it.
A2-Digital Organization. So necessary but often overlooked! Love showing some EdTech organization magic to Ts
What might it be about tech that lends itself to this semi-linear model
I love VOXER!!!! Use it all the time!
A1: (still) ... I would really like to spend dedicated time integrating/aligning STEAM & CS new/fun/cool "stuff"
Amen! We are learners just like our Ss and we must be willing to take risks and F.A.I.L. (1st attempt in learning)
SO very happy to finally be here!
A2: Finding time for tech. Trying to get them to see the chromebooks should be like a pencil. Normal for everyday use.
it's awesome sauce for sure!
A2:Hmmm, tough. I think many of my Ts still figuring out GoogleApps & those comfortable are figuring out what else to do w/them
That's fun. Great mix of Google tools.
A2: I'd confess I don't know the tech I ask my Ss to infuse in their learning bc I'm learning with my Ss..whoowhaawhaa
totally agree with this. We are going wide but not deep. Need to stay focused on a few tools and go deep w/them
Lisa, TOSA in Inglewood- late tonight, but here!
What kinds of projects/assignments have you done with Google Draw?
Hey Kendra! Great to see you here!
adorable. Such a love bug!
currently reading tom's blog!
A2) Giving up control and looking foolish in front of students and colleagues. Makes it harder to take risks.
The deeper you get with one...the more you find yourself using others.
Yes! This year I had all our k-8 students participate in and plan on doing way better this year :-)
Guess that will be my summer learning.
technology is not something to add to great instruction. Tech is part of great instruction.
Right, we don't think, "about how can we get kids to use their pencil?" But we were there at one pt so how do we mve
A2: just digital fluency - making it second nature.
Good to know. Thanks! Itās on my list.
A2: It's not a very well-kept secret: timely feedback and grading. All this front end change, but the back end remains the same.
It has been that kind of monday!
Those look GREAT I MUST play this summer!
You guys are so bang on here...
YAY friend!!! Glad you're joining the party!!!
Google CS First looks promising, don't underestimate the purposefulness of computational thinking!
i wont hold microsoft against you!
A2: How do we use tech. How do we use tech & math? If I'm honest, I still ask this question in some cases
Question, how many chats is on right now?
How did I teach before without my PLN?!?!
Or using the tech as a springboard to change pedagogy.
Question 3 will be here in 1 minute! Don't spill the beans!
Right? Can you imagine doing your job without your device? But we don't have special "tech time" at work...
I have it, I even know how to use it, but it still feels weird.
I don't understand ts who aren't willing 2 struggle or admit mistakes. It model lifelong learning! https://t.co/uXvZ8761Ih
A2: I think most teachers are afraid of struggling in front of students, especially with tech.
It's in the planning.......spying on the kids to learn more
I just had dinner with some friends, some of which are engineering grad students, they like Arduino too. :-)
Not everybody has that security or mindset.
some liked it and some didn't, I know its that way with all lessons, but I want to find a better way to relate to content
because Ts are Ss and Ss fear the same thing
I have NEVER coded ANYTHING! is going to have to give me a crash course!
Moving from having students take in to create can be difficult but SO worth it once Ts see it happen in action.
A2- I think our teachers really need to shift thinking, but the struggle really is mine- seeing the need for change, but them not.
A2: Perhaps the incessant personal comparisons w/other Ts? It really needs to be about personal progress, not comparison.
I don't do much w/out y'all
i had a great convo w/ read 180 ts & how they're going to use Google Classroom next yr.
I am always in awe w 's work.
We should speak seriously about run
Tracy from Saskatchewan, Canada joining late
OK stop you two! The feeling is completely mutual. Learn so much from both of you! =)
Mine's helped me come from a non-edu background and understand edu-culture. https://t.co/dNCTvdwvqb
How did I teach before without my PLN?!?!
A3- We need to let Ts know it's ok to ask questions, stop being afraid of not knowing everything-we don't expect our Ss 2 know all
true story. When i model lessons I enjoy when things go wrong so Ts can see it's no biggie.
I have seen tech change teaching and teaching invite tech. It is a great vehicle and tool.
best advice: master 1 thing then move on & try something new! less stress that way!
I've only coded stuff on the websites that basically do it for you. Rookie here!
A3: I think patience and listening can help a person come a long way!! Make no assumptions!
A3: TRUST! It all starts with building relationships. When one is comfortable, they will divulge information and ask for help!
You have. You just don't know it.
A3: Tosa's must build good relationships with Ts!
A3 You have to have a relationship with them so they feel comfortable to share with you. Everything goes back to relationships =)
A3: I encourage dialog. I ask questions. I check in.
A3: & failing in front of them. Also love it when they ask something that I have to problem solve in real time.
A3: 1st & foremost - share your struggles. When we open up to our vulnerabilities, others will open up theirs.
YAY! I would love you all to be there to mostly see my outstanding students rock the convo.
I like to make sure that the lesson is not perfect. Then I can walk into the debrief knowing what to expect.
A3: be humble, no one wants to get help from a know-it-all
A3 I have no idea how you do the with HS...they know 'everything' Primary are so overwhelmed, MS however, we always ask for help
A2: Classroom management with computers in front of every student.
A3: give Ts time to understand what they don't understand, to step back to find and ask questions
You mean Snapchat isn't just for taking funny pics with my kids? :-)
Ha only one! Just found out that is joining as Director of Innovation and Tech! SO PUMPED!
A3: Making sure to remove all judgement from my responses. Reaffirming that wherever they are today, goal is to move forward.
Drag and drop asnmgnt for the younger Ss - Use grey workspace around the edges. They can build sentences. https://t.co/s0lEg9p7Yn
What kinds of projects/assignments have you done with Google Draw?
It's a really big cultural shift & the irony, when you move to student-centered, it's less prep for the T.
are you on it? DM me your Voxer name
A3 Make sure they know that you're on their side.
A3-I ask my Ts a āstupidā question! Or laugh at myself. Try not too drop too much lingo. Be warm, kind, approachable and LISTEN.
thanks it was fun. Came up w/ idea after reading a blog by designs create pics w/ shapes
I agree. I think some Ts compete w/1 another and lose sight of the real goal: success for all students.
Hi, friends! Jody with a Y from La Habra, late to the confessions party!
A3: FESS UP!! (Best S cried telling me my STEAM Prog this term "wasn't as good" ... I took notes, thk'd him. Told every1
Can you do spreadsheet formulas? That is a version of . 1 we should all know.
But don't you think Ts used to be viewed as "expert" rather than "still learning"? Big change in that mindset!
Running and Voltron? LOL. LOTS of Google Drawing awesomeness in !
A3:Ts need to be made to feel safe to admit what they don't know, try new things, fail forward
A3- I think being consistent and THERE for them is the start to opening communication. Non-judgemental helps a great deal.
A3 By never judging them and providing a safe and empathetic place to learn.
. Good point; many Ts are worried about new eval system & w/new admin; few want to take additional risks.
A3cont: My 3 As approach-Acknowledge struggle, Align that Iāve been there before, Assure that itās possible to get past struggle
A3-we need to be mindful that Ts is a constantly changing beast % it 's ok to need/want help. & we need to be willing to help
I love it when I tell a teacher, I've never used it before, but lets figure it out together.
Josh!! It's so good to see you! How are you?
What have you used tech. for in your math lessons thus far?
Right, makes sense they'd go together
Just like students! We are one.
Because Ss will attack you like sharks when they smell the blood - I still do it though
A2: I find technology/apps difficult to keep up with - need to find time to experiment with new things https://t.co/4JDo0BmVlz
A3: Relationships. Making a "check in" a commonplace occurance. Lacking judgment, and providing space for experimentation.
Jenna from Lake County, late to the party!!!
A3 I am still working on that. I know it is trust first. More risks too. Why can't more Ts admit they need help & go out on a limb?
Kids can make digital posters that link to other content as well!
April, kinder teach from SoCal. Here to learn
A3: Trust. Building a relationship with Ts is crucial to creating a positive dialogue that drives change. https://t.co/OWjPXMfnRb
I also downloaded the app but haven't used it! I don't know why... guessing it's the unknown.
A3: I take risks in my trainings. Always good to get shown up a little, or a lot. Comforting to know you can't know it all.
agreed! I tell my Ts that and not to be afraid because no question is too dumb. Oaks grow from seeds.
The saddest part is the risk takers could take us in unlimited directions were it not for fear of admin and others
Isn't that the best!? Love when we flesh out a lesson idea out together too.
Great ideas, thank you. I was specifically referring to ind T classrooms, but this is helpful (:
A3) Start with trust and relationships. Then lead by example and confess yourself!
Years ago, I remember asking a principal for help with a math lesson, and he was blown away that I'd admit to needing assistance.
A3: it's all about relationships and trust.
Joe, you are so wise! So grateful to have you in my PLN.
Karly, setting an alarm for this one. Following the goo.gl link will get me there?
Better late that never, Jenna! Welcome to the fun zone! ] https://t.co/llHtPIujQH
Jenna from Lake County, late to the party!!!
A3. By not judging the small things and only offering advice when asked. I also ask them for advice.
aww, snap! you noticed! 31 min to go!!!
Yes! I can do pretty basic spreadsheet formulas! :)
I love reading the responses to Q3! Great Q !
I'm a hyperdocing fool, desmos, geogebra, slides, coding, and a sprinkle of
A3 I have a genuine affection for my Ts and make sure they know it.
Agreed. Just hard for some to get over that idea about teacher role. No real change until that happens.
Is that a new profile pic?
Glad you made it.
Donāt worry, Jody, we wonāt tell! Glad to have you! https://t.co/8AB1m2imTH
Hi, friends! Jody with a Y from La Habra, late to the confessions party!
Well stated, Josh. Biggest challenge for some Ts is overcoming that old-school mentality, imho.
A3: Building rapport - making sure they feel heard and not judged.
A3: Trust, trust , trust! Teachers need to know that it is OK to be in the business of learning themselves.
Sometimes it can be so difficult to only offer advice when asked but what a good standard!
Sounds like your students are lucky to have you! :) Do you make demos and share them?
I think it comes down to mindset and whether or not a T sees the need to grow as an educator.
Then AFAIAC, you have done "some" coding. :-)
agree. this is a hard one for sure!
A3: celebrate risks. Show the genius that leads to mistakes. Never got a wrong answer, Just took 2000 tries to get the right one.
A2: the workshop model has been a focus this year, we all want more time to confer with our students https://t.co/Tsa9edVs7B
Raise your hand if you think & need to start a oh and check out the GHO tmrow
Cool. Spreadsheet conditional formatting and the like is my jam now. :)
Wha?!?! You have too many great people in your district! Not fair! LOL!
I think we all need to be reminded that asking ?s does not mean we have to get the expected answer- but we can ask
A2. I think that a lot of my Ts don't know where to start, or what to ask me for.
we must if we want to model for our Ss how to be lifelong learners.
first Monday in a month that I don't have a meeting. But I looked at the clock at 8:22 and was like, "oh no! late!"
A3: I help myself by confessing what I don't know everyday - to show Ss its OK to make mistakes & make corrections
Yup! Join the Google+ community and add the event to your Google calendar =)
. I have no idea what this means, so yes!
lol I hear you! I didn't open my computer until 7:59! whoops!
A3: Showing Ts the possibility of what Ss can create often makes them ask the questions bc they want their Ss to get to that level
and Ss don't wait for PD to try something new...they just GO FOR IT!!!
A3- Trust, and showing my vulernability. Mostly by confessing I can't do what they do in their subject, so I need help too
LOL- Tardyoda and FORGETFUL Yoda tonight. Hi!
Um, I have no idea when that "used to be" was for me, and I've been teaching for a long time! ;)
The year we started & weren't any "consequences" from testing is when our Ts experimented the most.
always a great point to say, Imagine how awesome that lesson would have been with your knowledge.
A3: we have grown a culture of risk taking at our school, it's common for teachers to be trying new things https://t.co/hu156U1YBn
A4: Still too embarrassed to admit it.
Just kidding. I canāt think of one right now. Iām sure itāll come to me soon.
A4 Should have saved my Instagram and Snap Chat comments for this question!
A4 It is important to not lose your train of thought when in these chats because then you just have A4 in your text and nada more
A4-Hyperdocs. No Clue. No Col. Mustard, no cadlestick, no library. Nothing.
I think some teachers never really have that mindset, but others do and it's a big hurdle!
I think this is my answer to! https://t.co/VOUOobql8B
A4: Still too embarrassed to admit it.
Just kidding. I canāt think of one right now. Iām sure itāll come to me soon.
A4: Can you keep a secret...so can I.
A4: I'm a joiner and I can't really think of something I haven't tried... Yet.
Leslie, you will LOVE ! Check out the hashtag!
very good point. Some people are naturally lifelong learners.
(part 2)...and there is no way that was a coincidence. It's gotta be okay for both Ts & Ss to take risks.
A4 Snap Chat. I just admitted that tonight. Two teens in my house & I don't get it.
A4: I have to say itās . Iāve never done any green screening, my teachers seem to figure it out too quickly for me to help.
Never without properly warming-up and stretching.
Still want 2C an IronChef in progress! Curious how plays out. Not been lucky enough 2get2 a IronChef seshš
I understand that... when thinking about 's SAMUR model, there may/not be a perfect tool for it.
A4 I keep hearing about but haven't used it at all... yet.
A4-I have not used Voxer!
That says a lot about the leadership at your school & thats awesome. I hope to be so lucky when I go into
HA! Well Awesome Screenshot extension is a great alternative to for screenshots =)
HAHAHAHHA I am exactly the same except I've never used it.
A4: not that I haven't tried it, but I tend to focus on the apps that are most used. be innovative with simple tools.
I have never used an abacus nor a flintlock rifle.
. Saw this happen in my class last week w/intern T; one small waver & they pounced; shook him up some
A4: New answer Snapchat! I love no idea! https://t.co/MX8tKcNgU8
A4 Snap Chat. I just admitted that tonight. Two teens in my house & I don't get it.
A4: snapchat loves it so much I feel like i should too!
I didnāt but started using it with one of my friends and now I totally get it. Took a couple of weeks though.
A4: AdobeVoice. But now that it is and web based, I am planning to dive in!
You haven't?????????????? Wow.
Check out too lots of good stuff.
Me neither. I donāt get it.
it's a walkie talkie app. it's cool to hear peoples voices.
A4: I've got to do something about this. I still haven't used GoogleDraw. shameshameshame
A4: Not embarrassed. But minimal iMovie, no Voxer yet...
A4: I haven't started using our 3D printer yet, and I doubt I'll have time before the year is over. But we'll see! Oh, and iMovie!
Obsessed. Not exactly sure how you would use it in the classroom.. Hahah
Ohhhhh that's a good one. Haven't used that either. Need to check it out too.
A4 any and all Apple stuff I'm Apple deficient
A4: Google Hangouts. Itās blocked @ the district level & havenāt tried anything like it since https://t.co/iIJv5pC9Nw
That's awesome...I did Graham Fletcher "find me" or something like that a little bit ago, awesome stuff
yes this is my other answer. https://t.co/HrzD4qP4uX
A4: I have to say itās . Iāve never done any green screening, my teachers seem to figure it out too quickly for me to help.
Probably not recommended for newbie
Ohhhh tell me more about !
Too late for us it's not!
Confession, don't tell Rocky but I haven't either.
It is a walkie talkie app that allows pics, text, video, and voice in a chat. Individual chats or group. https://t.co/xXVT5e6pIQ
Feel like this gif perfectly fits Jenna's !!
. True. Ss used to think I read every book in library. Now: The internet? Just finished reading that
Will do soon. Still reeling from digital making!
Love SnapChat, but just use it with the high school kiddos in my life. Not using it professionally.
I love the instant conversation hangouts can give you! Maybe your district can open access to make collaboration easier@RUSDtech
Yeah, I'm wondering about how we push back just the S, even for myself...being mindful
oh Rebecca, just FYI... is BEYOND amazing!
love me some doink! It's a must.
A4: Got it. I donāt know how to program my contacts into my carās bluetooth address book. Would love to make calls easily.
can you add me to Voxer chat?
Import an existing Google Slides or PPT of yours, make a couple of slides interactive, and give it a whirl.
I like what says: "Commit, then figure out how you are going to do it"
my college math prof grandmother had an abacus. she & my blind grandpa knew how to use it. Looked like a toy to me.
I'm planning one soon, show you some snap shots if interested
I love Snapchat, but my partner can't stand it when I make faces at my phone in the car.
The only true failure is to not even try. I love learning from mistakes and using them as teaching tools! https://t.co/hLTsRgSpSF
A3: I help myself by confessing what I don't know everyday - to show Ss its OK to make mistakes & make corrections
Jamie, you are in for such a TREAT! Want an invite?
I can help you Rebecca!!!! Next time I see you in person, we only need 5 min to get you going!
A4: Apparently , eh ? lol
A4: Facebook -it is everywhere-except on my devices! Maybe this summer :)
I have to admit that I wonāt be admitting to my shortcomings tonight.
I'm sorry I know you love it. I will in the summer, promise!
i have it on my ipad. just haven't used it yet.
A4: can't think of one I haven't tried at all but there are some I play with for a second and then forget about. Or stop using.
the face swap thing kinda creeped me out and so I have no desire to learn to use it
It is cool for checking understanding and letting kds see other answers
Okay, that's one I haven't tried yet, either. I've watched videos on it, just haven't used it.
My first foray into 's Elem 3-acts and already loving!
six step work flow makes it as easy as pie
A4: I have never used GoogleClassroom and I feel ashamed... :(
A4) Green screen, snapchat
A4: 3d printing ... oh and SnapChat but not really embarrassed about that one.
A4: Never used that one app that's missing a vowel in the name...
Oh be careful it is life changing, did K last year/this year never looked back
I only use the basic features...I'm not heavily invested but do like it
What is your Voxer account name?
No! Instagram is SO good in the classroom for Ts, I have a blog post all about it.
Better get on that, Tom. Not sure how youāve survived this long without them! ;) https://t.co/VoxNbTEK9Q
You haven't?????????????? Wow.
A3:Nothing I'm "embarrassed" not to have tried. Came to terms w/fact I can never do it all. Pick my faves &focus on those :)
Ts & Admin also have to be willing to know that not all risks work out so sometimes Ts will need to give up on something
I don't even know what the Qs are, I'm not really following the chat, just jumping in on tweets here and there. :)
Ann you're just silly, that was a rumor I started (:
no shame, I still can't decide if I like it or my website/forms method better
I havenāt used Pear Deck as it is blocked in my uptight district.
That deserves a scarlet letter type of thing on your twitter picture. Kidding
A4: I'm looking 4 Apps to try & use - why would one be embarrassed? Maybe snapchat
It is totally usable with the free features, and you can use someone else's deck with all features.
but that doesn't mean it wasn't a success- it just didn't work this time
YES! Exactly. So weird hahaha
sure! what's your handle?
A4: I've never used Voxer and I podcast with my Ss all the time.. Oops.
download the Voxer app then message me and I'll get you connected to a few groups.
ahaha Snapchat is awesome... Although I'm not sure how you'd leverage it for education
Don't let the cat out of the bag! Question 5 is arriving in 1 minute!
we can be snapchat buddies lol!
I am curious to know if K-2 Ss could do lesson, that's interesting Q
Your district loves the stiff arm.
I had one when it started. Don't get the "stories" also not sure I can handle one. more. platform.
A4. So many apps/tools to learn; I have to browse to see which will be most effective for most Ts and prioritize
I wouldn't have it any other way! :D
yes. The 3-D printing. We have printers at our middle schools but I haven't gotten to play. Or I'm not allowed.
Seems natural there is some tools for objectifying the abstract for Ss to generalize
let's crash the party and go test them out!
C'mon, . Not everyone has our advantages.
Instagram I may try out, I feel like that one has legit uses in class
A4: Socrative - I even trained with a fellow teacher, but haven't used it yet.
I use it professionally. We have a group and many sub groups about all different topics.
A4: I have & ... haven't used either.
Oh good one, ... I'd like to explore Socrative as well!
Will do..Th/Fr are my play days, but now I'm curious about in 2nd grade...
A5: For anyone not on Twitter, I would have to say Twitter. So much in it!!!
Me too! Feel like I need a better grasp, tho, before I jump in w/that one
There isnāt a question I canāt answer - because if I donāt know - my āpocket palsā will.
Me either, that's what I just found out I didn't know about just in time for Q4 of . Easy answer!
A5: Automator!
Automator comes on every Mac and can help automate steps. I highly recommend it.
I will have to look into this!
A4 Some serious confessions up in here.
A4.2: I have no clue how to greenscreen. No. Clue.
Iāve been busierān a 1-legged man at a butt-kicking contest. But Iām good.
can we all share our snapchat names so we can follow each others stories? I'm... wait for it... peerlessgreen. Surprised??
sadly, was shut down in 2012 . It only lasted a couple years. Harrumph.
i love you should check it out!
Well, there is a little bit of thatā¦ :)
A5 my 1st thought is Twitter but I think it is more that I wasn't utilizing it right! but there is rm 4 improvement here too
A5- Twitter, for sure in my district. We did have a and introduced to a group.
I literally love it for updates on student work, upcoming events, and the dm!
Do you all have a Voxer account and use it?
A5: Google MyMaps could be used so much more! And do really cool things!
A5 TWITTER! I feel like all teachers need to be on Twitter and find their tribe =)
I am gonna check it out!! https://t.co/RKmmAgdEyR
A5: Automator!
Automator comes on every Mac and can help automate steps. I highly recommend it.
A5: ! So many useful things in there, esp. If you use the mobile app in concert with the web app.
A5- In my district, Twitter. This is and many other are where the magic happens
A5- In my district, Twitter. This is and many other are where the magic happens
A5-Can I say technology in general...the basics. Sharing files. Simple multimedia. Everyone should know basic tech + twitter
A5: for my fellow Ts Twitter, I'm only active one at my site and I feel like everyone is missing out on sooo much good stuff
A5: Google Sheets & Slides. I battle with training in new apps. Most are not ready for more. You can do tons with these.
great minds think a like!
Some of us that started a healthy living group and share all sorts of things.
I just started using Twitter and raved about it to my colleagues- they might think I am even weirder now than b4
A5 I would have said but that's not underated anymore Chrome ext to make GIFs but hurry it's going away soon
A5: Definitely agree with . Those not on Twitter are missing out on some serious PD!
A5: SAME HERE https://t.co/lLOAzMEgJO
A5: for my fellow Ts Twitter, I'm only active one at my site and I feel like everyone is missing out on sooo much good stuff
Wow - blocked?!? Is there an application/form/process to open sites up for use?
A5: Google Classroom, Remind, Quizlet Live, Kahoot, Nearpod, Go Formative. Let me think on it some more.
A5: Every time I teach it, I think of more ways it can be utilized.
Me too. Didn't feel that way when I started being a , but I have drunk the .
I have a feeling that 's Snapchat is a lot of fun...
like you & have inspired & supported me----I love you guys
AHaughs-- yep, I'm super creative ;)
A5: I would rather have Ts step back a bit & implement more creatively with simple tools than poorly with seldom used ones.
I keep hoping that they'll get tired of me saying "I got it from Twitter" and get on to find out what the big deal is
I keep trying to convince them! https://t.co/ysDKLjaOQE
A5: Definitely agree with . Those not on Twitter are missing out on some serious PD!
A5: I think most people under-utilize Google Slides - you can do so much more than just presentations
A5: Twitter. They all think I'm crazy but I've learned SO much! The chats are where it's at!
A5: I agree with everyone claiming Twitter. A few months ago I was a Twitter hater until I found my tribe, my Ts need the same.
A5 Video making tech. Screencastomatic or screencastify would be my pick. It's taken a while for teachers to see power of video.
This too! I had a Twitter sign up session with today. So much fun!
Hopping in the last two. A5: is one that I find many haven't heard of.
Truth! Amazing, amazing folks here
I definitely need to have a concert between my devices for this. Easy to set up?
YES!!! I am on a mission to get my Hist peeps to use this more and to use it more in Sci as well
Welcome Tiffany to Twitter!!1
I need a tutorial, how and why would I do this? Hahah
A5- I realized I wouldn't be able 2 get n2 other positions if I don't expand my circle & knowledge& I see Twitter is a g8 start
I've played a bit with but not enough. Need more time and a real reason to use it.
I think screencastify is such an amazing tool. We use tons.
A5: How about the voice memo app on phones? Great to record Ss & their reading, playback to check for fluency & expression, ā¦
(I'm singing that!) šš
What a wonderful tweet! You inspire us too Sky. Such a pioneer at your site!
YES, so simple, so great for embedding into Hyperdocs.
SO happy I switched this yr! Google Calendar keeps all my craziness in order nicely!
. I agree; move tech from toy w/bells & whistles to tool for teaching/learning; decrease stress on Ts too
A5b: All gafe. there are SO many applications for the apps! not just replacement for Office!
A5: I am a huge fan /. New to ONC, but use ON everyday, all the time. It helps with the dean side of job.
it's tickling my eardrums
A5: Just went over my 1000 tweet with - more love:)
use vocaroo on chromebooks or google voice on phones. Voice, leave a message as a homework.
A5b) I forgot about Vine. There are some fun S creation ideas with it. Also Meme Generator. , ,
Totes, If I didnāt have a MacBook for Work & own an iPhone I would be totes deficient too. $ is def an i$$use.
Totes, If I didnāt have a MacBook for Work & own an iPhone I would be totes deficient too. $ is def an i$$use.
I get the same crazy looks when I tell people how Twitter changed my life.
K guys, I'm bailing. See you later.
A5) Big picture: Twitter. Not enough Ts connecting globally. Present company excluded.
EE is by *far* one of my favorites! A must-have and must try!
A5-I agree with everyone who said Twitter. I was Twitter-phobic for a while and look at me now, loving ! https://t.co/loWggjGn5R
. Everybody knows how to use ppt, big bang for our buck with teaching a simple tool in amazing ways.
Marine ecology teacher? How have I not followed you until now?
I agree! Google forms is awesome. Love the choose your own adventure idea. I know is working on that =)
A5.2 I really like using a digital notebook. The search feature helps me remember everything.
i said I was a twitter quitter bc I had an account i never used. i committed to REALLY trying it & never looked back.
A5 Twitter. I can't get other consultants to use it. I love the idea of PLNs! Chats like this are like finding gold for me!
Getting them to stand up and face each other is the hard part.
I love google docs because it gives me instant access to helping my Ss no matter where they are at
Everyone should follow ! He is ! https://t.co/zeldxgRIiE
Marine ecology teacher? How have I not followed you until now?
really want an Apple Watch but canāt quite justify the $$$. Iāll be saving for the next version though.
Just signed up! halversonandrea
Don't tell anyone but Question 6 will be here in one minute!
my hubby last night: who are you talking to Me: my Twitter peeps on Voxer
Thats a cool idea- I use Siri and voice for myself but hadn't thought about it for Ss
YES! the power of Google at your fingertips!
. is growing our twitter presence & teaching Ts https://t.co/ZleEtKLytf
A5: Definitely agree with . Those not on Twitter are missing out on some serious PD!
And you aināt just whistlingā Dixie!
!
A5: Definitely ! Ss engagement, scores, and understanding MUCH higher than last year. Easy to use & makes me look good.
And that's the most underestimated part of GAFE. Definitely need to communicate this to Ts, Ss, and families.
Oh don't worry, mine doesn't either =)
Those of you coming to Vista can come to my session all about using Slides in other ways. https://t.co/DP44vaiN5o
A5: I think most people under-utilize Google Slides - you can do so much more than just presentations
agreed! Especially - it was like finding a treasure!
A5: Camtasia another gem. Screencasting with it is awesome. Love having the ability to show the speaker during presentation.
I'll be there, sounds great!
hey friend! sorry for the rambling VOX this morning! But, I can't wait to meet you at
I'm not sure how I wound up tagged in this, but it is fun!
A6: Creativity in Staff Meetings
Itās so good! I am not sure why I would need to learn rival tools.
A6: Google Forms - at least at my school & Instagram
RT this over and over! is amazing. SO many great uses for the classroom. https://t.co/SGCm7HQmT9
A5b: All gafe. there are SO many applications for the apps! not just replacement for Office!
A6- Forms. For sure. My district is totally data driven, but they often make decisions without data from stakeholders.
A6: Google forms and autocrat addon for walkthroughs.
Love all the topics that are coming tonight.
Me neitherā¦I just keep hitting āReplyā Glad you like it.
Yes! S running for SC will miss speeches. I recorded his speech on my voice memo app and will play it in his absence.
I say as often as I can that teachers are taking over best PD around!
Q6: Google Sheets - quit filling up my email with all those Excel attachments!
I agree, chats are HUGE resources. I'm still learning so much about Twitter - I need to make use of lists.
john keeps stealing my answers! We're so smart. https://t.co/kbJgEX8pKc
A6: Google forms and autocrat addon for walkthroughs.
is that an app. Like my twitter buddy
there are so many passionate educators on Twitter - I love the positive, engaging vibe I get from everyone
A6 Anything that would allow them to flip pd or staff meetings to make better use of our time together. It's precious.
A6- wow tough ? ! I think creating Twitter chats would be great for a district to get ideas- but admin has to want 2 hear ideas
A6: Wish more admins would learn/use the comments feature in Docs more. So many just put out view-only docs.
A6: Big thing is stop using Word and move into Google Docs. AND use that SHARE button!
Yes! Attended a workshop for choose your own adventure Forms at Rosevill in Feb. So cool!
A6: IMHO, Remind could replace all the broadcast emails of various groupings. Slack seems promising too.
I get to have Camtasia on my wk computer. Yeah! I've been using it on my Mac, but don't want to bring it daily to wk.
A6: Calendar, Docs, Sheets, andything GAFE, all my admin are techno-phobic
A6 is common sense an app?
May I ask why Instagram, specifically. Why not pics on Twitter, for example?
A5: most under appre tools: (as a teaching tool - 50K followers, so I guess some kno!), CT for Edu
A6 Padlet and SurveyMonkey to get input before meetings
I've also said Feel Felt Found
Better minds think faster. BOOM!!
LOVED your message! I can't wait, either!
And those of us who aren't. :-|
I love slides and we use them for everything!
A6: Surprise answer....Twitter! Wish our admin did more to tell their own story.
Iād be happy if ppl would quit uploading Office docs and then sharing them. Just make it in Google if u r going to share!
A6: Twitter for admin! I'd love to see a list of admin to follow that I could point my admin to. So they would 'get it'!
A6: Google Hangouts! Admin could conduct a meeting with staff and PD experts from all over. Get in on the action, let's go.
I concur! https://t.co/adZ8Yw4mIL
A6 Anything that would allow them to flip pd or staff meetings to make better use of our time together. It's precious.
We have more parents on Instagram than on Twitter. Twitter would be good as well.
A6 Google Forms and DOCs and Drive!! Stop printing things that I'm jus going to throw away.
A6 Twitter and the power of podcasting. The potential is limitless with those two.
Great answer! https://t.co/MzeMGSJMgt
A6: Surprise answer....Twitter! Wish our admin did more to tell their own story.
A6: Google Forms. Hands down. Especially in my children's district.
Isnāt it funny how that works sometimes. We call that infoRich-dataPoor. Info and data are not the sam thing.
So often happens, enjoy the ride, I usually do
A6- I saw Padlet being used- that was cool too -instant feedback w/less fear of being put on the spot
and if you use a form to collect data you'll have it all i one place!!
A6 - Learn how to use Google Drive and Forms! Sad but true.
Oh, well that makes total sense. :-)
Yes please! If we're pushing Ts & Ss to use all GAFE, Admin should be already
will have to try that one too .
A6 how about voxer for announcements and messages?
I know of a great Google Hangout on Air happening tomorrow around 12pm PST ;) https://t.co/m6dGol2NxM
A6: Google Hangouts! Admin could conduct a meeting with staff and PD experts from all over. Get in on the action, let's go.
Agreed. Good practice for Ss: story arc, story boarding, and resolution/conflict.
. Hey what are you doing for lunch tomorrow?
A6: I'd say automating processes with GAFE sheets & forms!
A cpl of our principals started using w/families & I think it's going well so far!
I read so much faster than I listen. It'd take so much time to listen to everything they have to say.
I've loved using Automator. Have used it for years.
A6) they need to use GAFE. Quite simple. They tell us we are using it, but they donāt. Silly.
Most of our schools have been advised to start School Facebook pages. Gotta go where the audience is
We do post pictures on FB which then post to Twitter but we need to be on Instagram as well, IMO
A6- I'm trying to think of what I would really want my school to have when I become an admin & google docs & twitter are my
Who made one of those the other day, ? They are very cool. What is it called?
A6 Twitter. They need it for PLNs, PD ideas, & in our school to promote climate & culture. Communication tool for community too.
A6: Twitter is a good way to network with other admin, find out about new learning initiatives https://t.co/uN3AJE3k46
both allow for such great collaboration.
Amen! š https://t.co/zU4zqQRbxv
Iād be happy if ppl would quit uploading Office docs and then sharing them. Just make it in Google if u r going to share!
Agreed! Love using Flubaroo in Forms, too. Instant feedback for students.
Seriously is my favorite set of tools. We have created some amazing processes with those two things.
many are afraid of social media.
For screencasting. It's pricey, but I bought it for my MEd. Now getting it at school. Whoop whoop!!
That sounds great! I've really enjoyed it with my Ss, seems like it has great school-wide potential.
We have a school Facebook page & twitter account - FB updates Twitter automagically
Wow. Way to lead by exampleā¦ Sorry, that sucks.
We get that too but I think if they weren't there they wouldn't miss them or they could print them out themselves
Ann! You are just too adorbs!
A6-GDrive (Docs/Sheets/Slides). Recently received a link to a GForm on a Word Doc attachmentā¦ I guess we are making progress? :)
PET PEEVE printing out the calendar!!
Genius! Love that too. Had my Ss leave me voicemails of their As. Text transcripts help (even if not always accurate)
AGREED!!! I hear is a great hashtag for admin! Plus does awesome admin camps!!!
I use docs to collaborate with the Ts implementing the curriculum I create -such a valuable tool for communication
if you're district is a GAFE district, you can download the synergise extension. it will walk you thru it all!
Actually, we only have a process to add MS apps.
A6: One? I know exceptional admin w/in and outside of my dist, but generally speaking, the answer is everything. GAFE, Twitter ...
awww, thanks friends... I crack myself up!
I am LOVING these GIFS! All three of you are awesome =)
with the vocaroo link, they can turn in through google classroom.
yup!! I hate getting emailed a meeting agenda, or being asked to print something for them that I just shared via Docs
Q6: Hands down, Twitter. Then GoogleForms/docs/slides. Then bit.ly.
I just downloaded Synergise this last week, it's pretty awesome!
Why not all of them? FB, Twitter, IG, Snapchat. I use Buffer to post to multiple simult.
Great job tonight! Great chat questions!
haven't heard of this one but I love the name so I will be checking it out LOL
yeah, I always have something printable, but not ready to hand out. If you want it, print it. I'm not an enabler.
. here for the last minute
Ever thought of a slowchat question for the rest of the week?
A6: Twitter. Iād love to see more Admins in the district sharing successes & building parent engagement. https://t.co/lidSyps9d2
