Hey #CFISDchat! I’m Kandace Blowey, AAS, from @salyardsms. Excited to chat tonight. I don’t have a classroom but the digital platform I use the most is @GoogleForEdu Sheets!
In reply to
@CFISDchat, @salyardsms, @GoogleForEdu
A1 parents get a birdseye peek into the activities of their kiddo in the classroom. reading books, writing, pics of work and best of all, giving their feedback WIN-WIN #CFISDchat
A1: Seesaw allows me to ensure parents get accurate pictures of their student’s progress by having students type or draw deliverables, and make teacher comments on them to help parents know the extent to which I have cues or prompted. #CFISDchat
A1: @Seesaw is a great tool & I’ve seen it used in @mrsgittensclass class! I’ve not used my platform to necessarily communicate w/ parents directly. However it allows me to bulk merge letters, passes etc. making communication more effective. #CFISDchat#WeAreSalyards#SwashBengal
A1: I love being able to use various digital tools to provide families with learning support and insight instantly. I haven't used Seesaw but I would love to see it in action! #CFISDchat
Q1: Seesaw is a win-win, ss love showing off their work for their parents and it is an easy app for parents to get on to see updates and ss work during the day #cfisdchat
A1: @CampbellsKiddos says that it keeps parents informed and shows areas that students are working on in class. (We are chatting together tonight...lol). #CFISDchat
A1: I love that students can access videos and lessons I post in Google Classroom at home. Easy to refresh your mind on a spelling rule or catch up if they are absent. They are able to continue working on projects and writing as well. #CFISDchat
A1 it brings the Ps into your classroom! They can see everything we assign to them. I try to add notes and resources we use as well! and papers don’t get lost lol #cfisdchat
A1: #CFISDchat I haven’t used Seesaw before, but I like the idea that it allows parents to learn the concepts being taught in the classroom. I can’t wait to learn more.

#CFISDchat Parents are able to receive notifications when their student post and are able to give them feedback. Parents love seeing what their child is working on at school and Seesaw is as great way for them to do this.
A2: in classroom observations, students are more engaged with tech tools and are more willing to complete assignments. #CFISDchat#WeAreSalyards#Swashbengal
A1: I love @seesaw for being able to show Ps a glimpse of what goes on during our day @CFISDWells#explorewells I start out with a ton of pictures that I help upload but at this tine of the year the S are doing all of the posting themselves! #cfisdchat
A2: I feel like students are more motivated to learn, collaborate with others, and share what they know especially when I allow them choice in the type of tech tools they can use. #studentvoiceandchoice#CFISDchat
A2 great motivator, "I'm gonna get this, so I can show off" Yep, students love to brag about their work or show to parents, grandparents etc. You can have several family members join #CFISDchat
A2: #CFISDchat Ss are very motivated to not only post activities and assignments but also to do their very best as they know their parents will see their work.
A2 💯! I love telling Ss I will be posting to my Twitter or Insta or through a blog post. Their work quality is exponentially higher! Ss need to be sharing in this digital world #cfisdchat
A2: When students create for a real audience - outside just the classroom walls - they are so much more motivated than if the assignment is for their teachers eyes only. #cfisdchat
A2: #CFISDchat I’ve observed classes using digitial platforms, and yes, students are much more engaged with the content. For students who struggle with expressing themselves in written form, digital platforms are great ways to offer other opportunities for responses.
A2: Anything that the students can do beside the traditional classroom is always a help in mastering concepts. @Seesaw really helps students work in a technology rich environment. #CFISDchat

A1: This is an area of growth but the little we have used it has increased parent understanding of their Ss work & provided an avenue for parents to see what their S is working on in class.
#CFISDchat
A1: I am so old school and just send pictures and videos via Twitter, Remind or Email. @MrsAustin2nd you need to teach me this Seesaw business! #POPEPride#CFISDchat
A2: Yes! Students love seeing each other’s work when logging in and just the act of “liking” another student’s post is so fun for them! It’s motivating for them to create more posts!#cfisdchat
A2: I have not personally used @Seesaw but I have seen students engaged through @googleclassroom to have chats or give each other feedback through @googledocs. It has led to some great conversations btw Ss & an increase in their interest in the learning. #CFISDchat
A2: My students get particularly excited when a tweet about them is retweeted or their parent likes a photo through remind. I can only imagine that sharing their work through Seesaw would have the same effect. #POPEPride#CFISDchat
#CFISDchat A3: with Seesaw, as a first grade teacher, I can track reading comp, writing components and math skills. Being able to look at the posts give me some power reflection data on how to help and or motivate my Ss. #ExploreWells
A3: As a Life Skills Teacher, I am always taking data with curriculum and IEP goals. I love the idea of having a video diary to show that growth instead of just numbers on a data sheet! #POPEPride#CFISDchat
A3: I am loving the ideas for using @Seesaw. We have used @googleforms to track data related to specific TEKS being covered & provide immediate feedback/reteaching. I would love to see how @Seesaw could enhance that work. #CFISDchat#wearesalyards
Q1- I like using google classroom so that I can send defferentiated assignments! For example, I sent a screen castify video to a student modeling how to write an essay and now we are co-authoring one for homework and conferencing about it at school. #CFISDchat
#CFISDchat A3: In the primary grades Seesaw is an exceptional tool in the classroom to track data. My upper grade friends do you use Google Classroom more often to track data?
A4: Feedback helps students grow and move forward. I love to share a “Glow and Grow” with my students so they are receiving a specific praise and area of growth!#cfisdchat
A4: If Ss are posting to reflect on others work, their own, or demonstrate learning it is important that we let them know how on target they are by affirming, asking ? to improve, & validate their work. #CFISDchat#wearesalyards
#CFISDchat#POPEpride Hey Mrs. Whigham! A video diary would work perfect in your class! Seesaw can be used as a virtual blog to show off their learning daily or in a weekly rotation.
A4: #CFISDchat Immediate & purposeful feedback is essential for student growth. More importantly, Ss need to know that you care enough about their progress to take the time to respond to them in a meaningful way.
A4: feedback = growth. It allows individual students to see their areas of growth and what to focus on. It’s definitely something I struggle with. #CFISDChat#WeAreSalyards#SwashBengal
A4: feedback on student work is meant to help the child build upon what they've already done. Constructive and precise feedback encourages kids to be their best selves and push their boundaries into new areas of growth. #CFISDchat
A4: #CFISDchat Immediate & purposeful feedback is essential for student growth. More importantly, Ss need to know that you care enough about their progress to take the time to respond to them in a meaningful way.
#CFISDchat A4: Giving Ss meaningful and purposeful feedbk holds them accountable bc they know ur cking it and gives them an opportunity to reflect on their work.
A4: Students not only love it but they need it! Good or bad they need to know we as their teacher care. I’m assuming with Seesaw that teacher feedback would be available for the student to go back and see or hear as many times as they need? Cool concept! #POPEPride#CFISDchat
#CFISDchat A4: I want my students to have a growth mindset. We set goals together, and this can only happen with meaningful and motivating feedback! When goals are met we celebrate, if they are not met yet celebrate the growth not matter how small. #POPEpride
A5: I see my students actively assessing their work and comparing it to that of their peers; this sparks new ideas and a unique brand of collaboration. #CFISDchat
A5: I use Google Forms and @Flipgrid for student reflection quite a bit. I love that we (students and me) can go back and compare how far they have come! Celebrate growth and setting goals through our reflections! #CFISDchat
A4 yes. We all need a pat on the back or a nudge back on the track! How do you know where you are going if you don’t know where you have been? #cfisdchat
A4: feedback = growth. It allows individual students to see their areas of growth and what to focus on. It’s definitely something I struggle with. #CFISDChat#WeAreSalyards#SwashBengal
A5: #CFISDchat I’ve seen teachers use Flipgrid to allow Ss to reflect. I think anytime we can provide opportunities for student reflection, we also allow Ss to take ownership of their learning. It’s important that they think & reflect on their own progress.
A5: Students love knowing they have improved. In my experience, they love it even more when they can recognize how they have improved. #POPEPride#CFISDchat
Q4- I love that digital platforms open up doors for genuine feedback and it’s a place where students feel safe being vulnerable with the skills they know or do not know! #CFISDchat
#CFISDchat A5: Ss love seeing their peers posts and work. This starts conversations and collaboration about how they have completed activities/ assignments. #ExploreWells
A6: My favorite thing to use Seesaw for is book clubs. Ss meet as a group and read and then video their reflections and post to Seesaw. I have a list of questions for each chapter to get them started and they take it from there. #CFISDchat
A5- I think this is something I need to get better at incorporating honestly! I’d love to use flip grid or seesaw for students to reflect on their progesssion of essay writing! #CFISDchat looking for a flip grid tutor? 🤷🏼♀️ 🤣
A5: I love PearDeck. Today I taught a lesson about using descriptive adjectives with PearDeck. The kids made some really authentic interactions with the content I wanted them to grasp! #CFISDchat#coltsCARE@CopelandCFISD
#CFISDchat A6: I use on @Seesaw "Reading Fluency" "Writer's Workshop" and "Classroom Moments" weekly. We have done many other activities in word work or Social Studies. There is a bank of activities to choose from based on grade level and concept you are wanting to cover.
A4: Taking the time to comment as a teacher validates the student’s work and motivates them to continue working hard. I love how easy @Seesaw makes it! #CFISDchat
A6: In my role, I am more likely to use platforms with Ts. I have used @PearDeck in training to collect responses from the attendees as well as share the ideas they share after the presentation. I like to use @Mentimeter for staff meetings/presentations as well. #CFISDchat
#CFISDchat A6: If you are in primary grades, my students just shared their writing DPMs with their parents. Great tool for parent and student feedback on personal narratives.
#CFISDchat I know it is the best! Great educators put out their favorite activities, and we can share them with our students! Love this about Seesaw, and it's free!
