Parent PD should focus on knowing that learning is not about comparing yourself to others. It is about improving individually. Also, helping them understand that you can learn from mistakes. #edchat

Professional Development for parents ... it is not the same as when you were in school ... that is a key thing they need to know. How is the classroom different than it was 10 years ago and how will it be different in 10 years. #edchat
Tonight's #Edchat topic: If we could provide Professional Development for parents, what are the issues or skills we would want to address in regard to Education?
I think this point really is crucial within today's ever increasing Technological society. To keep up with today's youth and to really show their parents we are reaching them, just like any other area, some aspects will have to evolve. #Lae5496#edchat

An issue we need to address is grade inflation and parental pressure for it. We've taught parents as well to expecdt "grades." It cries out as a broken system. Let's sit at a peaceful table and diminish the importance of grades, or at least, how we arrive at them. #edchat

Parent PD should focus on teaching their children to be proactive learners, continue to teach the values of what we are working on in school (sharing, being kind, etc.), and not to compare your child to another individual. #Edchat#GEN2108
