A1: I would consider my classroom climate & community one of my greatest successes so far this year. Isn’t that half the battle? It’s so helpful when it comes to classroom management. 💙 #kaganchat
#KaganChat A1: My greatest success this year has been growing a more positive writing climate in my classroom. Ss have become so much more engaged in the writing process, especially with the use of cooperative learning to brainstorm and share ideas!
Love this! What structures do you implement for the writing process? We just finished a 6 paragraph essay as a culminating writing task. There were struggles. #kaganchat
Classbuilding is essential! That’s why we name it as one of the seven keys to successful cooperative learning. It sounds like you’ve got it down! #KaganChat

We’re proud of the successes of great educators! Please keep sharing them. Amazing things happen in classrooms each day! #KaganChat Question 2 will be here in just a minute.
Linda, we’ve heard about your successes and about your use of Kagan Structures in small groups in your classroom! @RickAtKagan and @RachelAtKagan are always raving about what you do with your students! #KaganChat
A1 One is my greatest successes this year has been introducing @KaganOnline to two new schools I’ve had the pleasure to lead and seeing them embrace it and begin transforming their instruction! #KaganChat

Yes! Sometimes it wears me out. I’d tried to figure out using RallyCoach to let them coach each other through writing but we haven’t quite gotten there. ☺️ #kaganchat
@KaganOnline A2- the structure I have incorporated mostly is Timed Pair Share. This works great for keeping students engaged and giving them time to talk as well. It’s a win- win!! #KaganChat
I’ve spent a lot of time using RoundTable Consensus and Placemat Consensus with teachers so far this year to help make decisions and brainstorm ideas #KaganChat
#KaganChat A2: A coworker of mine taught my team Centerpiece and we have used it to review math problems and topics! There was such an increase in student engagement and much more structure provided to the review.

A2: Time pair share and Quiz Quiz Trade have been the the ones I use the most this year. Creates more student verbal conversations over content using TPS and I love covering game and sport skills/rules with QQT #KaganChat
A2- Timed Pair Share or Shoulder Partner. Both are used for students to answer questions about our daily calendar or daily math lesson. It has helped students engage and learn from each other. #KaganChat
These were my go to structures. They helped me and my students become confident in what we were doing that we all felt safe trying new structures. #KaganChat
#KaganChat Thrilled to hear how you’re using Kagan Structures in your physical education class. Structures work well in engaging students in all content areas!

A2 If I’m being honest I haven’t added any new ones but I’ve definitely refined old ones. I’ve been the principal of two new schools this year that are both new to CL and Kagan so building a solid foundation has been the focus. #KaganChat
Good to hear! I think now that we’ve done these regularly, we are ready to add in some more! Especially with the second half of the year started. #KaganChat
We enjoy hearing your plans! Use the Discussion Board on https://t.co/lw0rREHQ6X if we can support you. The #KaganChat Question 3 is up in just a minute. Get ready...

#KaganChat A2: I go to structured pairs regularly, but I'm learning to love #numberedheads. #sageandscribe is also a great technique to engage a higher percent.
A3 4 weeks ago I started in my new school. So creating the buy in across the board and of course the logistics piece of things like $ and time for PD #KaganChat
A3: in the remainder of the school year, I’m hoping to continue to maintain engagement. Implementing structures we haven’t been using as much or haven’t at all yet is one way I plan to overcome that drag most of us get in as the year goes. #KaganChat

A3: One challenge is maintaining a high level of engagement through 70% of my class time, planning a #physed lesson while maintaining this has been difficult at times. I’d like to make better use of more structures to reach that level of engagement #KaganChat
The challenge I will continue to face is help my teachers engage our students to continue to create a positive learning environment that fosters discussion, laughter, and assistance #KaganChat
A3 a challenge I am dealing with that is the voice levels. Today I stopped small groups and made them sit at their desks... they would prefer to whisper and do structures instead 😊. We are learning!! #KaganChat

#KaganChat A challenge I hope to overcome is to continue promoting and building on Ss collaboration skills, where they are more open to sharing but also understanding when it’s time to listen to peers.
As a former PE teacher, structures being a part of my classroom culture made engagement so much easier and maximized the use of my short class periods #KaganChat
#Kaganchat A3: #feedback. I'm trying to get #students to take advantage of multiple attempts at feedback and resubmission to produce the greatest academic growth.

We can’t wait to hear about how you’ve met your challenges in the coming months. Be sure to share your successes on Twitter and tag us! #KaganChat Question 4 will show up in one minute.
60 More Kagan Structures. It came out a few months ago. If you have mastered the basic structures and are looking for more to add to your instructional tool box, it has some great structures in it! #KaganChat
A4- My students need to learn the difference between meaning and accident. For Kindergarten this is hard. We are using class building skills to help. We will continue to work on this. #KaganChat
One of our biggest successes is allow our students to take charge of their learning. We create and use structures 24/7 in our classroom... and it makes a world of difference in student engagement and mastery of material. #KaganChat
Our students need to acquire social skills that allow them to coach each other. We need to change the language from chastising to helping #KaganChat#KaganChat
My students still need to learn how to whisper (hence my precious post). Besides complimenting the ones that are whispering, I plan to stop groups that aren’t and discuss more often.#KaganChat
#KaganChat Rapping Teams Is not one of our basic cooperative learning structures. We teach it in some of our specialized content area workshops. We love to see you in Vegas next month or at Disney World in July! https://t.co/yBIxBBT9lM
A4 My new school is all over the spectrum w/ this. It’s exciting to begin bringing in CL and restorative practices to really put some structure in place school wide to instill social skills and solidify them #KaganChat
A4: My students still need to work on coaching & having patience with one another. I try to model patience with them, but I also think practicing is the biggest way to help them learn these important social skills. They can become so easily frustrated with each other. #KaganChat
A4: Taking ownership of what we have said is something we can grow on socially. My plan is to have our students practice 1) repeating what they said, 2)apologizing, 3)waiting for a response, and 4) showing or telling the other person why they will not do it again. #KaganChat
A5 - Quiz, Quiz, Trade is a new structure I want to try the second semester. I want to use it especially when we start addition. I will use it to help students quiz each other. This will be a formative assessment tool! #KaganChat
#KaganChat Structuring for students to verbalize is one of the most powerful formative assessment tools available to us! We are thrilled that you see the power of this during Quiz-Quiz-Trade!

#KaganChat A5: Rally Robin and Rally Coach are two that I’ve heard of but not specifically used in my classroom. My goal is to determine best practices for implementing these strategies to promote collaboration!
A5: Quiz Quiz Trade & RallyCoach
We have used both of these enough to learn the structures, but I don’t feel like we’ve used them enough. I have some specific material I plan to use them with. ☺️ #KaganChat
#KaganChat A5: I think the All Write Round Robin is what I want to use more this semester. We do a lot with #peerreview, and I think it could be easily modified to the structure. Writing ensures all have a voice.
You may want to consider starting with RallyRobin. Create a question that will allow students to take turns sharing a verbal list. Great one to try first! 😀 #kaganchat
Jessica, MatchMine helps students develop stronger communication skills, especially giving and following directions! Do you have the Kagan match mine books with ready to go activities? #KaganChat
We can’t wait to hear all the ways all of you implement @kaganonline structures! Please share some pics/videos here on Twitter and tag us. #KaganChat Question 6 will show up in just a minute.

A5: Paraphrase passport! I remember getting training on this structure in Smithville, but I have not used it yet. My plan is to use it during ELA partner work. #KaganChat
We can’t believe how quickly an hour passes during each month’s #KaganChat — and we’re approaching that time tonight! The bonus question will appear in just a minute.
#KaganChat My celebrity crush since childhood has been Janet Jackson! @JanetJackson I admire her incredible talent and seemingly humble attitude. Lately I’ve been impressed by the genius talent and work for the people of Puerto Rico done by Lin-Manuel Miranda. @Lin_Manuel
#KaganChat
I’ve learned recently that positivity can shine through by taking care of the self through yoga, pampering, and really good food that help to be the light in others lives
Bonus- the person I admire the most is anyone who follows their dreams, seeks the best and always strives for excellence. MLK comes to mind the most for this. #KaganChat
Thanks for all the #KaganChat tweets this month! The winner of the Kagan Structures Flip Chart is Rachel Swearengin. We loved the postings showing your 5th grade students actively engaged in @KaganOnline Structures!
