#NVedchat is dedicated to increasing communication and collaboration of education related topics in the State of Nevada. Originally, created by Mr. Snehal Bhakta.
For tonight’s chat, we will be using the Q1: R1: format for questions and responses. Yes, we are changing it up a bit! Please include #NVedchat at the end. Let's get started
R1 - I don’t do a lot of true blended learning. In class I do refer to resources available online. As we get more tech access, I may do more. #nvedchat
R1: Blended learning is the ability to utilize technology and traditional learning to help mold students minds into thinking abstractly for their benefit. #NVedchat
A1 combines technology with other traditional teaching methods. I use #BlendedLearning by offering #iPaded lessons, in conjunction with other types of hands on learning. Example we take notes, draw picture of heart, do Virtual & real dissection of heart #NVedchat
A2-#blendedlearning offers ways for students to be in control of their learning, thereby leading toward #creativity provide the teacher helps to facilitate the direction... #nvedchat
This is Robin Pence tuning in from Las Vegas, NV (but Hoosier transplant), & my favorite Holiday destination - that is a tough one...but will choose my latest one - Hangzhou, China since I happen to have just gotten back from there yesterday! Good times! #nvedchat
A3-By giving some control to students, teachers are almost forced to collaborate with students and students have to work together in order to complete the task. #nvedchat
R4: Our Ss are so used to talking and discussing using devices that I believe this lends itself to more communication and, ultimately, more collaboration on projects and learning! #NVedchat
A3-By giving some control to students, teachers are almost forced to collaborate with students and students have to work together in order to complete the task. #nvedchat
R4 - in middle schooler still struggle with maturity issues, so I’ve seen things said/done w/online collaboration that probably wouldn’t have happened F2F. #teachablemoment#nvedchat
A4 I think it helps collaboration Many of them communicate electronically anyways so we are just teaching them how to do it appropriately for school & work setting #NVEdchat
Most definitely. Ss are scared to share their ideas for fear of retribution, bullying, etc. Sometimes when it is through technology, it comes across better. Ts must model this for Ss as well #NVedchat
A1: Blended learning is the use of technology in strategic and innovative ways to personalize the learning of Ss. Ss & I use @Seesaw for student curation & creation of content as well as for interactions & reflection on Ss learning processes. #nvedchat
R5: Most definitely is happening because our Ss are looking at work through collaboration and sharing. If Ts allow students to critique the work of others, true critical thinking happens! #NVedchat
Q6: If you could add another "C" to the mix, what would it be? How can blended learning assist with this aspect of learning for our students? #NVedchat
q5 - When Ss are given the opportunity to explore and problem solve with tech-then yes it can and does occur. Not when simple substitution is the purpose of tech...
#nvedchat
A6-The other "C" I would add would be #career because everything we do in education is to prepare students for a career...bottom line, but I'm a little bias...#CareerTechEd#NVedchat
Q6: If you could add another "C" to the mix, what would it be? How can blended learning assist with this aspect of learning for our students? #NVedchat
R6: I am a fan of Community. We need to bridge our gap with the community to show our Ss that things that we are doing are for the benefit of past, present, and future generations! #NVedchat
CELEBRATE! Take time to celebrate the small stuff. Ss need to celebrate when it goes well - and when it doesn't. It then gives them the OK to try again. #nvedchat
Thank you for participating in my first ever leadership role in a twitter chat. I hope you were able to gain some knowledge on #BlendedLearning and the #4CsofEducation#NVedchat
Don’t forget to follow us and all the tweeters that joined #NVedchat tonight and feel free to continue the conversation all week long! Happy Holidays to everyone!
A2: I find that when Ss are in the driver seat with #blendedlearning, the process & products that come about demonstrate creativity, allow for Ss to blossom in ways that were not as likely before & often lead to Ss inspiring creativity in one another. #nvedchat
I love how @seesaw allows students to look back on their days and their work. Reflection is something we need to model, teach and practice and technology helps Ss, Ts and families all participate and practice. #nvedchat
I totally agree! We often use a @responsiveclass closing circle to reflect on our day, share growth and risks, and leave each other on a positive note #nvedchat
A3: When incorporating a #blendedlearning model in the classroom, I find that collaboration happens naturally as Ss brainstorm & problem-solve together, and in turn make their learning that much more meaningful. #nvedchat
A4: I have found that Ss are more likely to communicate in such a venue, they have time to think about & post their responses, as well as to respond to one another. I have found Ss are more likely to communicate w/me as well, it offers a less intimidating situation. #nvedchat
