Good morning from central Ohio.
Good morning everyone from NE KS. watched a beautiful sunrise.
Now that we named some connected educators, let's define a connected educator with question 2
Good Morning from beautiful Southern Indiana!!
Q2 What is a connected educator?
Good morning from rainy northern Saskatchewan
Fall Break Ana looking for ideas to revamp and rev up second quarter!
A2 Someone who uses social media to connect and share ideas with other educators all over the world.
Awww, thanks Joan! We all learn from each other. Isn't that the point of being ? ;-)
Connected educators are in touch with others to create new ideas.
A2 I'm not sure. does it go beyond technology?
A2: A connected educator is someone who recognizes that his/her colleagues aren't limited to the people in the same building
perfect! This is the place!
I don't think it requires technology.
A2.2 And someone who is "connected" with technology and open to trying new things in the classroom
A2: Someone who develops relationships w/other educators via SM to learn, share, improve their practice & be better 4 kids.
A2: A CE promotes 21st skills in their classroom to engage their Ss.
A2: A Connected Educator is a 21st century learner, innovator and thought leader
Connected educator- uses tech professional development, enhance student learning, and share ideas in education w/ others-
a2 Connected Educ. connects to broader ideas, relentless in searching for best way to teach for themselves & ss.
good point, technology is not needed, but makes it easier!
A2. An educator willing to learn via social media. The learner takes the time to explore.
tech is the accelerator, not the soution.
It's the new way of PD 24/7 building relationships
A2: Oh! Then I guess I do know some connected educators...All of you, right??, I think??
in the past, I would walk down the hall to connect, but we were tired after our day
but know I can connect on the time that's best me and my PLN
I can't find it now, but there is an essay titled "It's not about the technology." It's a great read.
Time is key! That is 1 thing I hear from Ts a lot-"I don't have time". "How can you not make time" is my Q
RT A2. An educator willing to learn via social media. The learner takes the time to explore.
Being a CE requires an open
I think being connected does start with your own PLC at school.
Now there are many more people than just the ones in your hallway.
A2 an educator who taps in to today's digital tech and social media for professional learning & the benefit of students
Anything worth doing, is worth doing relentlessly. Too many obstacles get in the way for the faint hearted.
You can sit in front of the TV and connect! Time should not be an issue
If there is an active PLC. I dont have one at school, so pln is vital.
Oh, I totally agree. But lots of people don't see it that way.
A2 Connected educators honor and value the work of others
Great answers gang! Questions 3 coming up!
But I know Ts who won't even make time for those. Sad.
A2: Twitter is the best I have found. I can find good PD anytime and anywhere!
RT Being a CE requires an open
Especially in small schools,
When I did PD, most of the time, Ts just wanted time to talk with other Ts. I think that's why twitter is so popular.
so true! We are isolated.
To be fair, we're trying, but I'm a dif't breed than colleagues, so PLN fills a hole.
Create one! Have a coffee meet up and invite some people.
A2 Connected educators are like Gladwell's connectors: they synthesize and link ideas & ppl
A2: Getting out of bed on a Saturday morning to visit wit
heard a gr8 talk last year "No Teacher is an Island" on PD.
Yes! I love spending the day w ss, but also need shop-talk w other Ts.
I can't believe people don't get the value of Twitter.
Q3 Where will you find a connected educator, besides Twitter....
A3 Conferences and Edcamps!
A2: ! She calls ya out when you don't show up to chat on time! 😘😮
A3 One of my favorite parts of conferences and edcamps, meeting my Twitter pals In Real Life!
To be fair, I take breaks from it. It can get to be an echo chamber. (Mostly, it's good tho...)
A3: EdCamps for sure. Any event, events. They are everywhere.
Twitter has been so good to me... but Edtech camps and conferences.
Me wither. Twitter is an invaluable resource for me. Simply because of the great people I connect with.
A2 Connected Educators - Willingness to learn from and support others globally
aren't conferences and edcamps better now that you are on Twitter?
A3: I used to use Facebook only for personal but has become more professional last few years and of course there's Pinterest
You get out of bed? I just stay there and participate in my pj's. That's the beauty of Twitter
small schools need to figure out how to become bigger schools so PLC's can be created.
Just checking in! Prepping for this mornings soccer game in Maryland
A3. Love Edcamps and any kind of conference..so useful especially in summer.
Google Connected Classrooms is a great place to start. Also follow
I usually participate from the comfort of my bed, with coffee, of course :) Beauty of Twitter!
Oh yes Pinterest is a rabbit hole!
Yes, I wonder if/how we could connect/synergize more intentionally online?
I completely agree! I love testing ideas w/people. It inspires me and gives me energy.
A3: At an . T's who give up the own time to meet, share and learn from other educators is definitely connected
I know, especially when invite to twitter chat & they say don't need it, I'm on Pinterest
love following and meeting other educators on different chats
w/ Skype and features like that, think tech is in place- now need logistics and innovators...
A3 Don't forget to ask within your own school and friends who teach in neighboring schools. Might b surprised!
I find great ideas on Pinterest for labs and design challenges all the time!
Yes, tech is there, but vision and willingness to do school new ways doesnt seem to be there yet
As Principal and former St tchr I love conferences but get TOO MANY IDEAS!
not knocking Pinterest but it's not Twitter & vice versa, make friends on twitter
A3: tweet should read "are connected." Sorry!!!
A2: A connected educator is someone who can leverage their PLN to transform their practice for the benefit of kids.
I was thinking the topic was whispering to you to wake up. 6 am for you!
yes, a problem for sure! Just adding a nugget of inspiration is perfect!
RT A2: someone who can leverage their PLN to transform their practice for the benefit of kids.
I grab a coffee & go back to bed
Yes, I love serving on accreditation teams!
A3. Podcasts, for sure. Plenty of related links are provided in show notes. I use but many options exist.
I do some Campus Min, but never found too many of us- or religious ts- on Twitter.
Question 4 may have an obvious answer. Will you surprise me with thinking outside the box!
Q4 When would you find a connected educator...connecting?
True! Pinterest is great for ideas but not so much for connecting
A2 Knowing their is a lot more you can learn
How can we encourage our colleagues to venture onto twitter?
a4 usually outside of the school day (who has time to tweet from 8 to 3?)
are they present on dif platforms? fb? g+? email list serves(do those exist still?)
had Twitter chat party last wk for . Great fun being w/ educators f2f and online.
exactly- though until World Series ends- Cleveland is kind of an enemy :)
A4: When they have a question, a challenge, or an idea to share. Also, if they read/hear an interesting story.

A2: A connected educator is someone who can leverage their PLN to transform their practice for the benefit of kids.
A4: when you use hashtags, when you use lists, when you put your twitter handle on your name tag at :)
so many solutions found from reaching out to the community!
A4:In the Classroom, utilizing their connections in their craft. In the School, lifting up other educators to also be connected
A4. Ahhhh, this one is an easy slow pitch for I usually experience posts from educators on the go to / from work.
When ever I hear/read/see " I have an idea!" 💡💡
A4 using a common hashtag to share classroom activities, news, tips. Also found plenty in recent , Voxer
Totally agree! Such a great resource! Smarter together.

The answer might be, when wouldn't you!
Sydney Catholic Schools will have run 3 Twitter Forums by the end of this year around Religious Leadership using

I show them Twitter and what it can do for them. After football, PE T may be on.
