Writing is a form of expression. Students should be producers of their learning and writing is a great way to express that! Students can take that reading and write their own opinions on it and take a stance. Great skill to practice. #5thchat
A2. Not everyone is a numbers person. Allowing students to explain their process in solving a problem in a written format could allow students to deepen their learning. #5thchat
A2 Writing in math is explaining your thinking. Sometimes that's a difficult thing, but if you can explain what you did and why, you can write about it. #5thchat
To me writing in math is a display of understanding & showcasing of deeper knowledge. This can be strengthen w/ the help of sentence stems or a vocabulary word bank. If you can explain your thought process, you demonstrate you have truly learned #5thchat@LandrumMS
A3. I try to have my students argue or prove why their data is credible in labs very often...not always easy. Argumentative writing would force them to be critical of their own work and build grit!! @K_Nickel_LMS I need to get my Ss to do more of this! #5thchat
A3 Argumentative to me means that you can support your point of view with text evidence or research/data, which is something we do all the time in our writing! #5thchat
My students did a #PBL where they had to analyze the contents of energy drinks and present how it could affect the circulatory system. They had to write about their findings and present in front of the class. Very powerful lesson. #5thchat#teacherwin
I used to think writing across the curriculum was only constructed responses. Now I am working on incorporating my #PBL and argumentative writing. #5thchat
