Let's hope the spamming now stops for , as it's the 300th session. Who would have thought...!!!
- Please remember to use the hashtag in your responses, so we can all converse together
So, asked: What edu tools can we use to improve literacy, numeracy etc. and how?
Are apps the answer, or should we be skilling teachers to be able to improve on this?
What are your best edu tools to help improve literacy, numeracy, progress, impact, transition, learning etc.?
One of my clients just said she hadn't made ANY revision notes but is further ahead with revision than all her peers
question 2 asking: What strategies can you suggest to improve low-level behaviour strategies? via
Accelerated Reader has been really good at encouraging reluctant readers to engage meaningfully with books - reading and enjoying
Follow and you'll see everyting.
Use A1, A2, etc. to reply to Q1, Q2, etc.
I use app, it helps students with how to use punctuation, if they don't place it correctly, the sentence sound wrong
get students to put pens down when you want to talk to them. Also keep hands above the desk
Thank you, it doesn't seem to be coming through on your feed for me.
Make your lessons fast moving with plenty of different, interactive activities and meaningful Afl
That is because I am not hosting. Use for all updates in the live feed. In July, I'll be hosting and then use my account.
Online resources like apps could offer an invaluable, accessible support for students in numeracy, lliteracy etc
Nice to experience that this 's 300th edition is attracting new accounts to the system, the chat and the opportunity!
These techniques make for exciting lessons. https://t.co/laHbuP3mpb

3. Teacher Confessions. What are your teacher fails & what can you learn from them? Session 178 - https://t.co/4NONtqkbAp
I'm a big fan of investing responsibility as a strategy to deal with behaviour issues. Have seen good responses
Allowing students to do something with what they have just learnt, the application of their newly found skills/knowledge
we enjoyed lively debate around whether in the digital age @ todays launch of the Cambridge Approach to Textbooks
also learnt about fascinating online tool from (in collab w/our archives) at earlier this month
Eg. Pupil is bullying the new kid, pupil is given responsibility to look after the new kid, pupil changes previous behaviour.
Flipped learning works well for us involving students in their own learning rather than us instructing them.
Does that work when the teacher isn't around?
that's a blooming big question. What was I thinking!? 🙈
discussed as part of tonight's about learning tools. https://t.co/wP3lcV2seQ
I definitely think text books count, they're just another tool rather than the only source of knowledge.
You had better come and help us break it down a bit.
Let students explore imagine & create. Not be 'little pitchers to be filled with knowledge' as Dickens said out in 'Hard Times'
How does the new kid take the news that he/she will spend more time with the person causing them issues?
re: Q1. I've learned it is about what works for you with your kids, what's dead easy to use & cross platform
Please use A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 etc. to answer Qs of tonight's ... It's very useful to be able to trace Qs and As to them ...
Invigilators must establish the identity of all candidates sitting examinations

text books are there when the internet is broken too!
No but I teach science so it sounds like something I should check out
Q5 Quick wins for engaging students: what are your most effective strategies? via Session 167 - https://t.co/MPGFnmKXU2
Q2 It is always worth investing time to talk to individual pupils. Many low level disruptions are rooted in learning difficulties.
It works particularly well with revision as it leaves time to do something with it in the lesson
Biggest thing to engage is be engaging! Would you want to sit in your lesson? Lesson with purpose.
What has worked for you in the past?
exactly, we have to cater for every single learner.
The teacher, pupils, or both?
An idea for 's future: wouldn't it be a good idea to introduce topics for chats on a monthly basis? e.g. 1st Thursday of month?
Build a relationship with the children and show them you care
A5 a focal point such as an mystery object, a joke, or a Simon Says type game to get initial focus/engagement
Build a relationship with the children and show them you care
This way, teachers and educationalists all over the world can prepare in advance https://t.co/uctsPUT5nJ

Filling the silence. I need to not be afraid of silent thinking and reflection. Give time to respond https://t.co/pBk4A1AtxA

providing next steps and giving the children time to respond
I often leave a task for my students to do in response to their feedback
Both, students really respond to activities out of the box and they're more likely to engage with something creative
What does that look like in your own classroom?
Essential, totally agree, good relationships are the building blocks of a learning journey. https://t.co/TUlmeyslCi
Build a relationship with the children and show them you care
have a regular dedicated improvement and reflection time.
Start as you mean to go on. useful film clip on sharing expectations at start of school year https://t.co/2ImpWEg94P via
A5 Praise, encouragement and allowing learner's to see their progress through the session/s and contributions
Are the students aware of your use of their feedback? Do you appreciate it?
Q2 If a child cannot learn the way that we teach then we should teach the way they learn. Engaged pupils rarely disrupt.
Is this structured in any way?
We all love praise and a pat on the back! https://t.co/C1NGXatbVq
A5 Praise, encouragement and allowing learner's to see their progress through the session/s and contributions
Feedback, and esp. direct feedback is most useful thing in teaching (according to Hattie), and this is so right!
Make it fun! Ask a random question. Show an image and ask students to respond. Make learning relevant! https://t.co/PgRiyK0Csv

7. Private vs state schools: which has more to teach whom? More collaboration? via Session 159 - https://t.co/CeUgYLg762
a6 by using diff. methods that will move the learning on most depending on what is being learned
Q8 Twitter has been the greatest form of CPD I have ever come across. by teachers for teachers
What steps will you take to improve this?
Marking isn't effective IMHO. Verbal feedback, peer and self assessment, meaningful steps to improve do. https://t.co/rAJWO6oglL
8. How can we help teachers discover the wonders of Twitter for educators? via Session 138 - https://t.co/U8fFLdDuXk
by reminding myself that it's ok to do so!
Absolutely! 'Private' isn't a dirty word. Outsourcing lesson, collaboration, bring Ss together all +s! https://t.co/S90yiwSCoc
