I am here to learn, support, and share.
Welcome to #AppleEDUchat everyone!
A1: Feedback is an essential part of the formative assessment cycle. When working with educators in my current role, I try to make feedback timely and actionable using online tools to speed up the process and differentiate the types of feedback given. #AppleEDUchat
A1: Feedback lets students know what they have to work on. When I work with students on writing, I give feedback by reminding them to use an uppercase letter in the beginning and a period at the end. #AppleEDUchat
A1) Young adults share their work for peer feedback as well as advisor feedback. AirPlay allows them to see their work differently as well #AppleEDUChat
A1. Daily. I use a mastery/standards based model so classwork is formative...not graded. Ss can make mistakes and get help without any worry. They fix any errors right away and ask lots of follow ups. Misconceptions are addressed. #AppleEDUChat
A1: Formative feedback is an essential guide to see if your learners are learning. Its the place where the the teacher can see and adjust their teaching. #AppleEDUchat
Being timely is so important. It doesn't do any good if the feedback from you comes weeks later. I know it's tough to do, but it is so critical #AppleEDUchat
I use formative feedback to provide students in the moment feedback on their work so that they can improve in the moment and not after the fact. This way, the feedback becomes apart of the learning process #AppleEDUchat
A1: I provide feedback online on on Ss collaborative documents and they action edits. They have a record of the conversation, progress and improvements for future #AppleEDUChat
I constantly walk around my room giving feedback to each S on how their art project is going so far. I give feedback and reminders, as well as tips/tricks that apply to what each individual is creating #AppleEDUchat

That's great. Feedback without penalty is so important for learning. It's when they correct mistakes that the most important learning takes place. #AppleEDUchat
We practice daily to give as well as receive feedback. Builds such a strong team feel. So true - builds their confidence to share beyond our walls! #AppleEDUChat

A1: I also have taught my kids what feedback means! When they think they're done with their art, they have to show it to a partner. The partner's job is to say something they like, and something they could improve. They're pros at it now, and they grow from it! #AppleEDUchat
A1 In my role, my teachers are my students and ultimately I don't want to be the only expert in the room... so, I strive for feedback to come from a variety of people/modalities. #AppleEDUchat
A1 (part 2): Adding on to instant feedback, I like when Ss can grab a screenshot of their results and use mark up & collaboration to improve. #AppleEDUChat
RT ClassTechTips: Q2: How do you leverage technology to give creative and accessible feedback to your students? Share examples!
#AppleEDUchathttps://t.co/9ZYhstoU0Y
Absolutely. I've been working hard to break my classes of the mindset that grades can be for behavior. They are starting to appreciate grades based on learning. #AppleEDUchat
I love Kahoot! We've used it in a few of my classes, and I can't wait to use it in my class some day! It's a great way to get the students interacting. #appleeduchat
A2: Digital tools give educators lots of options for providing feedback to students. You can comment on @seesaw posts shared by students or use a screencasting tool to leave voice messages for students to hear feedback. #AppleEDUchat
A1 We try to get formative assessment feedback to students as quickly as possible. What faculty miss sometimes is that feedback is meaningful to them too - are they really teaching effectively? #AppleEDUChat
A2: I find that the old fashioned writing in response to student writing is better through the iPad, blending the personal scribbles with tech. I love @PDFExpert6 for feedback #AppleEDUchat
My classroom isn’t teacher driven so I take on the role as a facilitatoras my students work. I am constantly moving around the room as they woke and using apps such as Apple classroom and Go formative to monitor and critique their work in real time. #AppleEDUchat
A2: There was a great post by @traintheteacher about #equitymaps where she uses data to inform learning We want to try this out to source our own data #AppleEDUchat
A2: I create these videos during almost every class period. It helps Ss to reflect and see if they're on track w/ project goals. They give comments/feedback on each other's work. They LOVE seeing these on the big screen & even my shy Ss are more willing to share! :) #AppleEDUchat
Q2: I think I already mentioned this in A1 by using comments function on collaborative documents. Love Kahoot for gamification too - Now it has the Challenge function to set a game for Ss at home! #AppleEDUChat
A2: I love using my favorite app: Clips to capture my experiences in a classroom and offer feedback to Ts using the tools within the app. Brainstormed a vision for this w @kellycroy@jkathman@ryanorilio this past summer. Thanks for the inspiration guys! #AppleEDUchat
Q: Who is @JAMFSupport?
A: Located in small Wisconsin town named Eau Claire, it’s a place where a couple hundred dorks come together everyday, and all they do is think about Apple management.

Thanks for all you do, @JAMFSupport! #Jamf#AppleEDUchat

A2: When I taught Middle School I LOVED using Showbie for feedback! I was so excited when iTunes U added turn-in/comments for this as well! :) #AppleEDUchat
A2 I take photos of work (evidence) and share specifically what was fantastic! I pose questions to uncover thinking and push them forward with, "Yes, and..." #AppleEDUchat
A2 Audio/Video feedback has been a mixed bag for us: some students like the thought and detail the faculty provide, others find it tedious to have to search back through the recordings to find what they’re looking for. #AppleEDUChat
If you have not tried #flipgrid yet, you should .. I like it combined with Clips app.. students can give great video responses.. and can help people get out of practiced writing responses and be personal and real. #appleeduchat
Yes! We have files flying in workshops, and also integrate into construction workshops: outlines, reverse outlines (which I love), thesis checks, etc. #AppleEDUchat
This is Clips! :) It is my favorite app! I can create the videos while I check in with the kids because recording each clip takes just seconds! :) I use the live titles so that I can just say their name out loud and it types it for me! :) #ClassroomClips#AppleEDUchat
Love the combination of visual and conversation - opens the door to dialogue and having learners explore their work from a new perpsecitve #AppleEDUchat#EDT520#edtech207
Hey #ade friends.. sorry to be missing out on the chat.. still at work at *;20.. A few of my students are joining in.. I told them that you are great people to learn with. #appleeduchat
I read/heard somewhere that we take photos of what we value. This is so true in our personal lives and should be in our professional lives as well! #AppleEDUchat
Love clips! Had my students use clips for French pronunciation. You have to change the language of iPad but it really kicks their drive into gear to get the text overlay right! #AppleEDUChat
A2 Many times, I am not in the same room as my learners, so I use Google docs a lot to provide timely feedback. I also video my learners as they are working/thinking/problem solving and then allow them to watch the video and critique their own work. #AppleEDUchat
I used Showbie until those features were integrated into our LMS. It is so helpful to have everything in one place for parents and students. #AppleEDUchat
A3 The culture in my class is all about sharing so we post all artifacts / work on a blog where everyone is equal author - comment for others part of submission #AppleEDUchat#EDT520#edtech207
YES! Love this! I used to use time lapse videos for feedback too! It was great for monitoring Ss work habits & giving them feedback---"I see you worked hard the whole time" or "you might have been a little too focused on chatting" and provided evidence to show them #AppleEDUchat
A3: I love using @nearpod to collect information quickly and check for understanding within a lesson. It was one of the first formative assessment routines I used in my one-to-one iPad classroom. #AppleEDUchat
A3: A simple timer! I set it for 15 minutes before the end of lessons to ensure we have time to reflect and pack up. I see kids in 60 min blocks so have to be intentional about time #AppleEDUchat
A3. Formative is day of b/c Ss are currently working on this activities as I circulate in a #flipclass. Summative are next class period (A/B block) or ASAP. The longer it takes the less it means. #AppleEDUChat
To capture my observations w Clips videos and use the stickers and features to point out what I see and what I wonder. Then watch the video w the T & reflect together. #AppleEDUchat

Awesome!! Have you tried a reverse outline? Have students copy and paste thesis and topic sentences onto a new document, then have peers review structure/argument. Let me know how it goes! #AppleEDUchat
A3. I use our LMS (@Schoology) for everything we do in class. I make sure I give feedback on every signle thing they turn in as soon as I possibly can. #appleeduchat
A3: I ask Ss specific questions in the feedback to prompt them to reflect upon certain aspects of their work and reply with their own suggestions for improvements. #AppleEDUChat
A3: Stop, Drop, and Walk! The kids stop what they're doing, drop materials & have a gallery walk. After, we chat about what they saw, give feedback and get back to work! Goes super fast but builds relationships and skills! #AppleEDUchat
A3) Respectful sharing & receiving feedback is part of what we expect of ourselves - part of our culture & applies directly to @iste#StudentStandards#AppleEDUChat
A3: Providing students with a rubric preemptively, and then having them use it to self-grade and/or peer-grade before collecting work helps a lot, and it does wonders for developing metacognition along the way! #AppleEDUchat
A3: Mentioned in A2 but I have my Ss give each other feedback when they think they're done. They check over the project expectations, share what they like about it, and what could be added. #AppleEDUchat
Love this, Liz! Have you encouraged your learners to use Clips to archive their problem solving process? Maybe smash that with @IntentionBook Creativity strategies... #AppleEDUchat
Reverse outline checks paper argument and structure. Have students copy and paste thesis and topic sentences into new document. Then (via peer review, conferences, etc.) evaluate argument structure, order, cohesiveness, etc. It’s awesome what becomes visible! #AppleEDUchat
For me it is being up and constantly circulating and monitoring so I can catch immediately catch and address misconceptions. Which makes grading a breeze since the in the moment feedback helps students turn in a more polished final product. #AppleEDUchat
I wonder why you decided to say it this way...? I wonder why you chose this app? What do you think would change if you did it another way and how? #AppleEDUchat
A3: Providing students with a rubric preemptively, and then having them use it to self-grade and/or peer-grade before collecting work helps a lot, and it does wonders for developing metacognition along the way! #AppleEDUchat

Students give themselves feedback when the preview the test on the review day, comparing it to the rubric(s) that they received on the first day of the unit. They know what they need to focus on. #AppleEDUchat
A3: I love using conferencing with my students! It is so helpful to have face to face conversations. I know it is low tech, but it is critical. #appleeduchat
A3.2) Young adults receive peer & advisor feedback nearly daily. They reflect in their @BookCreatorApp learning artifacts weekly, some do daily. #AppleEDUChat
A3 If possible, we recommend using technologies that can provide immediate feedback. The self-grading quizzes in our LMS can provide the correct answer along with reasons why an incorrect answer was not the best choice. #AppleEDUChat
A3 I love @Seesaw bc feedback is immediate from peers and families. I love seeing students go through the class journal like a news feed during class. Also items can be opened and edited immediately so helpful #studentshelpingstudents#AppleEDUchat
A3: I conference with each student at least 2 times each week for writing. I give them kudos for using resources around the room, such as our Word Wall and ask them if their writing has the essentials. #AppleEDUchat
Love this @marcdrumm I recently taught a course on Schoology where my Ss said they loved the immediate feedback on quizzes, it allowed them to see if they had understood immediately. #AppleEDUchat
A3 If possible, we recommend using technologies that can provide immediate feedback. The self-grading quizzes in our LMS can provide the correct answer along with reasons why an incorrect answer was not the best choice. #AppleEDUChat
I also have great success with self-grading quizzes. The kids appreciate knowing if they got it or not and being able to follow up immediately. #AppleEDUchat
I always ask learners to reflect on what they have learned and their effort - helps them assess their own engagement this time and for next #AppleEDUchat

A3 Cannot emphasize enough the importance of intentional and focused formative assessment. Without this, feedback may be all over the place. Love Formative 5 (if you're math-y) from @CorwinPresshttps://t.co/FKb4CGmt8X#AppleEDUchat
A4: It's super exciting to see how @FlipGrid has become so popular in classrooms. I love how students can post a video and students and teachers can reply using video too. #AppleEDUchat
A4: I have been considering this for draft feedback. Do you find voice to be better than written feedback? I have conferences, but so far haven’t recorded feedback. #AppleEDUchat
A4: Voice recordings can be helpful for the T to be able to give feedback on assignments, but even more so for Ss! S can use their voice to articulate more clearly than they can write sometimes, particularly for me in science. #AppleEDUchat
Notability app allows for voiceover comments. Sometimes I use explain everything for that as well. @Flipgrid responses to videos is great. #appleeduchat
A4:Funny you should mention that! I was just thinking to myself that it would be cool to use @MarcoPoloApp w/ kids! Leave 1 on 1 vid messages back & forth (I'm sure it works in @Seesaw too.-I just don't do @Seesaw with 300+ art students) Love the idea of recoridngs! #AppleEDUchat
In reply to
@ClassTechTips, @MarcoPoloApp, @Seesaw, @Seesaw
A4: Voice feedback is great for me as a French teacher! 1:1 digital conversation using a voice recorder app is a great way of reaching out to Ss without them getting embarrassed by being corrected in front of anyone else #AppleEDUChat
A4) @BookCreator iMovie shared as project #classroomclips videos uploaded into Keynote. One young adult wondered about screen recording FaceTime feedback conversation - haven’t tried it yet. #AppleEDUChat
A4 I think something that I might try is having Ss create work on a platform like seesaw , google docs or slides, OneNote, etc and have them trade with their peers and have their peers record their critiques and thoughts of their work. #AppleEDUchat
A4 My learners often sketch ideas for how to solve a given problem or accomplish a task. They then give detailed feedback to each other using @Flipgrid#AppleEDUchat
Sorry for the late entry to tonight's chat. I am Matt from Indiana University and @Round3app. Great to see everyone and learn from you all. #AppleEDUchat
A4: I think fligrid would be a great way to give feedback using a recording. Also getting students involved by them making their own videos giving their classmates feedback. #AppleEDUchat
I <3 this idea - through a variety of apps! I could see doing this through Seesaw if you were a classroom teacher or even through @Showbie! It makes feedback so much more personal to hear it in a voice (and Ss won't read into it and get the wrong idea about tone) #AppleEDUchat
RT ClassTechTips: A4: It's super exciting to see how FlipGrid has become so popular in classrooms. I love how students can post a video and students and teachers can reply using video too. #AppleEDUchat
A4 Our Distance students like voice feedback for just about any assignment - they appreciate the individual attention, and it gives the faculty more presence in the course. #AppleEDUchat

Yes, with online learning having some feedback that you can see (video) and or hear (audio) adds such depth and richness to the experience #AppleEDUchat
A4: How do people who teach lots of kids (I work with 250 students) incorporate voice messages? My kids are G1-5 and we have ipads (1-4) and Airs (G5) #appleeduchat
A5: Ask students what they like and dislike about an activity. I try to read their expressions when I introduce a topic. For example, they'll probably be much more excited to study insects in a few weeks than community helpers. #AppleEDUchat
A5: It's always a little scary, but I send my students a Google Forms survey at midterms and at the end of the year to give me feedback on my teaching. I make changes each year. They feel empowered that I want to know their thoughts #AppleEDUchat
@Flipgrid very generous with free trials! Ss tried it for the first time today and they loved it!! They came up w/ so many ideas & now we are going to use it to practice job interviewing skills! Took a bit to take the chance. Started w/ free version!! #AppleEDUChat

A5: I think that feedback is important in all directions. You might include a survey or poll throughout a unit of study to see how studnets are responding to your instructional strategies. #AppleEDUchat
If I remember I have the kids fill out a survey about the year (not content related necessarily) and what we did. What could be done to make it better/what doesn’t work? And I make some adjustments. #AppleEDUChat
A4: There’s preciously little that’s more personal than a voice. It’s also an enormous time saver as I can speak more efficiently that write or type. Love the audio comment option on @Seesaw - especially for parents & our youngest learners who are emerging readers. #appleeduchat
A5: I use Google Forms to collect anonymous feedback. I also use feedback that students provide to each other in @Round3App to identify students that need extra support and topics that needs to be retaught. #AppleEDUchat
A5 Be more proactive and less reactive, if possible. Before plans are finalized, ask for insight. Be transparent. Care what they have to say. #AppleEDUchat
A5 Sometimes I use apps like let’s recap or Padlet to create a back channel that runs in the background as class is in session. I then review as I plan for the next day to get a gauge on what misconceptions or points of interests Ss might have based on their posts. #AppleEDUchat
A5: Our school creates surveys G3-12 for students to give feedback to teachers. We then analyze our feedback and create learning goals for ourselves based on our professional standards. #AppleEDUchat
A5: <3 Just this year, I started having S pick their favorite projects when we have art portfolio days. I gather all of the favorites, take a pic, and ask Ss questions, and evaluate why they were favorites. I note what were the most popular projects, & change others #AppleEDUchat
A5: I create a Google Form and ask my Ss about the year in reading class. I become so passionate about my beliefs because my Ss tell me how much they loved what we did in class. Very motivating! #AppleEDUChat
A5 I’ve known faculty who write up a contract with their students on day 1, listing faculty and student expectations. Then they revisit it halfway through the course to discuss/revise, and again at the end to see if expectations were met and what could be improved. #AppleEDUchat
I've been using @Flipgrid for reflections and discussions. It has been great to see exactly where learners are at. It's also great for when I am out of the classroom. We are able to do so much more. #AppleEDUchat

I also use these favorites when picking things for the hallway and art shows - that way I know it is something the student was really proud of~! :) #AppleEDUchat
A5: Google Forms and @Seesaw messages/activities work brilliantly - the students must see and feel that you’re really digesting and acting in their feedback or it will be frivolous. #appleeduchat

A5: I have started “feedback Friday” where Ss give me their feedback every other Fri. I created a google form and made it anonymous. They are honest with what they like and don’t like! (Always no HW 😹) #AppleEDUChat
RT ClassTechTips: A5: I think that feedback is important in all directions. You might include a survey or poll throughout a unit of study to see how studnets are responding to your instructional strategies. #AppleEDUchat
RT ClassTechTips: bethany_nugent TiffanyShaferAP Flipgrid You can create different "topics" for each class - that would probably be a good place to start to try out the free version #AppleEDUchat
A5) At the end of new learning I ask what they thought, ways to improve. At the end of rotation they share their learning artifact with their suggestions, likes & ideas to improve for next group. They help shape the path for their peers. #AppleEDUChat
A5 My Ss are involved in directing many units - we follow their interests, strengths and decisions #AppleEDUchat I ask for their opinion and guidance #edt520
Yes! I was nervous the first time, but now my students remind me that it’s Friday and they need to give feedback! I make it half about me and half about them. After all, we are a team! #AppleEDUChat
Yes! I love that too....I give many projects with a theme (landscape, portrait, animal, etc.) that allow for a lot of personal interests/decisions throughout the creative process! I love that the results are all so different from each other! :) #AppleEDUchat
It’s all about the flexible flow - think of it like water movement (blanking on the correct nomenclature) - we adjust our movement based on the environment and the student variables that are welcome in it. #AppleEDUchat

As we continue sharing, the awesome feedback is rolling in - amazing guidance & inspiration @ClassTechTips@alfredsiha !! Thanks for a great #AppleEDUchat
A6: Would love to teach my Ss compassion and acceptance. Sometimes they talk to each other in unkind ways. Ss arguing with each other & trying to get the last word in edgewise this afternoon. #AppleEDUChat
A6: I'm totally going to try voice recordings! I am looking forward to including them. I also think I am going to ask Ss for honest feedback more frequently than I have previously #appleeduchat
I love this too, think it might be what I take away from this for A6 - I love the regularity of it and expectation from Ss that theur feedback is an integral part of the learning process. #AppleEDUchat
RT SimpleK12: RT ClassTechTips: Q6: Give us feedback! What is one thing you will change in your classroom starting tomorrow?
