A1 My first 5 years as a teacher were in a Continuation HS in Palos Verdes. I lived at the top of the PV Peninsula, and the school was at the bottom of the hill on the coast. I rode my racing bike to and from work. Lots of exercise, fresh air & beautiful scenery. #sstlap
A1
As much as I would love be the guy who read the news at the kitchen table, I'm the guy madly trying to pack lunches, wrestle dogs, and get kids out of bed. It's an ugly way to start the day! #sstlap
A1: my morning routine is up at 5:30, out the door by 5:50, stop and get a coffee I try to make it to school before 6:30. I'm not in any rush, but I like to leave early to avoid traffic. #sstlap
A1-I like to wake up about 30 min before and slowly wake up. But once im up it’s go, go, go with my son included. I do always have the car loaded and lunches packed the night before, I just have to heat up breakfast and make my coffee #sstlap
those were also the years where I learned to bake bread (whole grain from scratch), and during December on the ride home got to watch California Gray Whales head south just off the coast. #sstlap
we have kids pack lunches pick out clothes- I usually can eat breakfast with them, but sometimes I eat and run out the door. When I was in the classroom I was up way eariler and often didn't see them in the morning #sstlap

Oh I can relate- which is why after this weekend- I thought this chat could be good for us to reflect on our practices and see if we can improve-- we need to take care of ourselves #sstlap
We live super close to his scjool and I have a 20 min commute so I eat in the car. We just have about 20 min from the time I wake him up to leaving. He eats at school. #sstlap
oh man jealous- such an amazing site I imagine.
I am cooking more, and enjoying that opportunity to show my daughters that dads cook, clean, fix things, and are funny, well at least we think we are. #sstlap

A2 wake up earlier- which means going to be earlier- when I am up with more time, I am able to enjoy breakfast, help the kids get ready, read some news - and gather my thoughts- started listening to audio books on the ride in -- #sstlap
A3: this is something I’m good at. 3-4 times a week of either swimming, yoga or weight lifting. I go to classes right after work mostly so it’s still an early night. #sstlap
Really bummed to miss this chat. But I’m watching my daughter get a scholarship at a ceremony, so I’m going to try to be in the moment. Except for tweeting you 😊. #sstlap
A3 Up until I was 60, I ran, biked, walked, hit the gym, etc. As age took its toll, those things have dropped by the way. Still, except for a chronic tendinitis in my legs, I am quite healthy. Never been hospitalized, had any surgery, etc. Still have 32 teeth too. #sstlap
A3 inconsistent- recently bought an exercise bike did 30+days straight- then spring break- so now hit and miss- added a get off your butt and move app to my phone to help get back on track #sstlap
that is awesome- If i could get up earlier- I would definitely add that to my routine as the night workouts are easier to skip-- always something that comes up #sstlap
a3: my exercise is in the form of tennis - whether I'm playing it (rarely) or teaching it (15-20 hours a week). Teaching it doesn't have me running around, but it's good to be up moving around. It keeps me from falling asleep after school. #sstlap

A3) My husband and I have been walking pretty regularly. Sometimes it's pretty late (after we get the kids to bed) but it's good to have time to talk and get some exercise. #sstlap
A4 A few years ago I lost a lot of weight- exercised regularly, tracked what I ate and things were good.
Need to do these things again and be consistent #sstlap

During the winter, we were pretty good about getting to the Y but then my son's swim competition season started and we kind of fell off the wagon. Good to be walking and exercising more regularly again. #sstlap
A4: for me, it's not a change of routine, it's changing my mindset and motivation. I would like to play more tennis, I could play more tennis, but it's hard to get motivated when you spend a lot of time on a court. #sstlap
#sstlap the honesty of our shortcomings with consistency coming through for A4 - makes me realize how powerful sharing our humanity with our students can be- let them see our failures, learning journey, and how we can show them grace.
not enough-
grateful for my parents and the life lessons, values, they instilled and support opportunities they provided. Grateful for my PLN who support me and challenge me -

A5: this was something I was thinking about while I was driving home - I have never taken time to reflect on those who I'm grateful for - those who inspired me and led me down a good path. This will be my next blog post. #sstlap
A3) I try to provide them with a variety of tools they can use to help them work with digital materials (annotation, for example) and create content. Share suggestions for tackling difficult content/texts. #sstlap
A4: I struggle with eating, I get busy or just plain lazy and don’t prep enough and I’m not eating right. And I stay up too late, I need to just go to bed with reading a book #sstlap

Not a single mom but husband works long hours and travels a lot for work so I do a lot of the child care. Easier now that they are getting older but still nice to have some alone time. #sstlap
A5: part of my morning routine is to write down 5 positives from the day before. Things I’m grateful for, thinks that make me happy. Keeps me positive and focused #sstlap
stealing this from a colleague BVOS best version of self
This is what I strive for each day and almost always come up short, but get up the next day and try again-
Like Groundhog Day with Bill Murray each day = new opportunity
#sstlap
A5 I'm grateful for my husband, my family, friends & 4 legged children. I'm also thankful for nature. I know I don't spend enough time thinking about it and I should.#sstlap

A6-‘I’ve been through worse’. Really reflective in this past year and I don’t sweat the small stuff, I’ve been through worse. Keeps my perspective #sstlap
yes- like this too shall pass --
Also heard song the other day about God must think I am strong because he would never give me more than I can handle --

A7) Talking with my husband or a colleague. Adding notes to a lesson about what worked well, what needs to be changed for next time (or if it needs to be scrapped). :) #sstlap
