I try to only give enough problems that Ss should have completed before leaving class. If they don't finish, then it is due for the next class. Students grade their own work, and I give them a completion grade for it. The classwork accounts for 15% of total grade. #bfc530
#bfc530 I am constantly reflecting on a good system for #homework. We keep track as a team, and notify parents when 3 HW assignments are missing. Best system is to out it in a zero with 1 day to make it up, but that's not perfect either.
I give them a zero or 100 based off of completion. If they turn it in late, I give them a 90%. I do not chase them for missing work. Again, it only accounts for 15% of total grade. #bfc530
I didn't discipline a student for not turning in work. I just gave them opportunities to complete it during the school day. Sometimes that meant that students were working on different tasks during the day. #bfc530
#bfc530 I remember taking a film lit class in #highschool, and loving the #class so much that I could not wait to get home and write the papers that were assigned. It would be hard to have #students feel that way every day.
There wasn’t really a thing as not getting CW done. They stayed with me during their free time until it got done.....correctly. Most of the HW became optional. Ss would complete it because they saw how it improved their learning. #bfc530
