Our chat will focus on the idea that we can lead and make positive change from any position in our school systems. Leadership is not about a title, it is a way of thinking and acting.

¡Buenos Días #LeadLAP! AP at a Spanish Immersion school in KY here working on her 3rd cup of coffee. To say I’m excited this morning would be an understatement!
Howdy #leadlap family ~ We had such a fun #greatkindnesschallenge this week; our #KindCoins challenge course is coming along. Today we paint our #Kindness Rocks for the Peace Garden as a community! Hurricane recovery is HEART work.
Good morning #LeadLAP crew! It’s been a while since I’ve been up early enough on a Saturday to participate in some chats. Eli, Lead Learner/Principal at @NavajoElem in Abq. NM
A1: I’ve been dying to check out #Culturize by @casas_jimmy. A healthy school culture is such an instrumental part of a successful school. There is always room for improvement in culture and I hope to use the book to strive towards that improvement! #LeadLAP
This was supposed to be a #growthmindset lesson for the Ss on embracing mistakes. What it became was a #lesson for ME on what truly goes on inside the mind of a child. From the unexpected fears of using a pen, to writing thoughts on paper, it can’t be captured in 140 characters.
A1: I am excited for @LeslieConnor29 Th Truth as Told by Mason Buttle and the Sequel to Wild Robot. #LeadLAP@amazon has delayed my PREORDERED The Truth as Told...not pleased.
A1: Books for 2018...
Lead like a Pirate - School leadership
Culturize - School Culture
Kids Deserve It - School Culture
Un(qualified) - Encouraging Yourself
4 o’clock faculty - School Culture
Playing the Man - Becoming a better Man
#leadlap
A2: I really want to dive deeper into education blogs. That’s one of my goals for the remainder of this school year! So far, blog posts by @aaron_hogan have been a staple for me! I’m looking forward to adding more to my arsenal (suggestions welcome!) #LeadLAP
A1: I cannot WAIT to read the books written by @TaraMartinEDU and @tishrich! Currently diving into The Wild Card and Stories by Webb - looking forward to sharing #booksnaps soon! #LeadLAP
#LeadLAP A1. I am a big fan of DBC books and this year I hope to dive into both 50 Google Classroom books. We are looking at getting a PD going to become Google certified this summer.
A1: Poor Students, Rich Teaching by @EricJensenBrain and Shifting the Monkey: The Art of Protecting Good People From Liars, Criers, and Other Slackers - a book on school leadership and teacher performance by @ToddWhitaker#LeadLAP
A1 I read and reread #LeadLAP so that of course. Culturize is the next book I’m going to read. Currently reading The Will to Lead, the Skill to Succeed. Go-to recommendations I’ve been encouraging my team to read are Kids Deserve It and TLAP
A1 I'm partial to the Like a pirate books right now. Pretty great guide for amazing teaching. Then I'm on to #CodeBreaker. So many! #LeadLAP is my current read and #sketchnote fun!
A1: My favorite read and author of 2017 is Renegade Leadership by @GustafsonBrad . The book started a movement in my school. Brad demonstrates the power of Twitter as he engages with leaders everywhere in many meaningful ways. #LeadLAP
I love anything by @EricJensenBrain and loved Shifting the Monkey by @ToddWhitaker. I haven't read Jensen's new one...will check it out. Thanks! #LeadLAP

A1: When I took over at LLHS, got my team and my district advocate #tlap and #LeadLAP, so they knew where I was coming from and where I wanted our school to be.
I just had a book come out that I’m excited about - Essential Tips for Classroom Success: 365 Ways to Become a Better Educator. https://t.co/9Ns49AadQM#LeadLAP
A1: Creating Innovators by @DrTonyWagner and The Innovative Mindset by @gcouros are great! I like unconventional books as well. Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman and Sapiens by Yuval Hariri are great reads for understanding human decision making. #LeadLAP
I so agree with you, Lariza! We need to read children's books and young adult books. Just picked up The Boy in the Striped Pajamas to read with my ninth grader. #LeadLAP
A1: Anything by Jon Gordon is fabulous! I also was motivated this year by Lead Like a Pirate. What Great Principals do differently and Cultur s Built to Last: Systemic PLCs at Work. #LeadLAP
A1: I’m reading #DearMartin from Nic Stone and it changes how I hear, see, and interact with my kids. Expanding the multicultural library to be better present for my diverse population. #LeadLAP
A1: #ShiftThis would have to win for me! It is amazing! Small shifts HUGE impact! I'm reading #4OCF now and loving it! Will start #zenteacher in February! Yay! #LeadLAP
#LeadLAP A2. I am not sure if they are blogs but I love Matt Miller's Ditch that Homework, and John Spencer's thoughts and writings. Every time I get an email I am even more inspired. @jmattmiller@spencerideas
A2 I don’t really follow any blogs with fidelity however the shares and links my PLN shares whether it’s their own writing or a recommendation I read faithfully. Is Twitter an acceptable answer 🤣 #LeadLAP

A2: Totally failing on blogs. Between two young kids, teaching, reading, applying to graduate school, applying to leadership positions, etc., etc., etc., the blogs have fallen by the wayside. #LeadLAP
A2: If you want tips and strategies to support your English language learners be successful in mainstream classroom, check out @ValentinaESL’s blog: #LeadLAPhttps://t.co/ormbMByVcp
A3: I constantly use @polleverywhere to engage Ss. You can hold a vote to gauge student opinions in a debate or make a student-generated word web! I also design “Create Your Own Adventure” lessons in history by having students vote for what they think will happen next! #LeadLAP
A3: I’ve also integrated @nearpod into my classroom this year and I love it! For image analysis, it brings the image right to the Ss device and allows them to engage/interact with it. They can mark up significant details and I can follow their terrific work on my device! #LeadLAP
I am a huge fan of #DearMartin and thought it was so creative to reflect on teaching of MLK as issues were explored. Also, met @getnicced and she is an amazing person! Can’t wait for her next one! #leadlap
A3: @Seesaw & @Flipgrid continue to wow me with their updates & ambassador programs! They are easily accessible & empower Ss voice and choice! #LeadLAP
I am loving read&write tools from Google extension. Game changes for SPED and ELL students. Thanks @The_SkylarJade for teaching me this awesomeness. Who does not love @ChatterPixIt and @Flipgrid#LeadLAP
I just observed a teacher text her students questions during class with #remind. Others are using #booksnaps since Ss are so into Snapchat and #flipgrid is gaining momentum in my school. Spanish Teachers are using #Powtoon#LeadLAP
#LeadLAP. I am trying @Flipgrid they were shy at first and I realized they may need to write out what they need to remember for the video. Each time gets better and less nervousness for them.
A2: Not really following any bloggers at this time.
A3: One of ny fav tech tools this year is running my school's Twitter feed on WallsIO in the hallways. Student Tweeters Tweet, everyone stops to catch up on what's new!! "Control your narrative" #LeadLAP
We try to and I am always talking books. The problem might lie in my passion for reading and growth is not the same as others. We have to meet people where they are and respect their passions don't you think? #LeadLAP
A3: Google Keep has been a game changer for me this year! We also have fun w/ @GetKahoot during faculty meetings along w/ @padlet for our flipped faculty meetings. Canva has also been fun for our social media. #LeadLAP
A3: Also love me some Google Slides! It is so much more than a presentation tool and I feel I learn a new way to use it every day. From stop motion animation to #HyperDocs to collaborative projects like classroom wonders #LeadLAP
#LeadLAP "yes" ... but if they are not readers of some kind are they learners that are helping Ss learn about learning... and if they are not that much in to growth do you want them in the building?
A3: I have to share #lexialearning as a nominee for totally terrific tech tools!! Building confident readers K-12 through engaging & personalized learning experiences that provide essential data for teachers. A true #BlendedLearning model! https://t.co/uKOOU9HCsh#LeadLAP
No worries!! Good. Better. Best. There are so many good things to be a part of but differentiate between them to determine the best place for your energy. Family will ALWAYS be the best place. :) #LeadLAP
A4: Be sure and check out @NAESP print magazine and online articles for great info, also tune in each month to #NAESPchat for a fast and furious chat and helpful tips! #LeadLAP
A3: My favorites this year would be @Flipgrid and @DoInkTweets Our Ss love communicating on videos and using a green screen with our news network to film #LeadLAP
A4 @edutpoia was my first edu blog. Still a front-line organization for ed in my opinion. Also, @iste for all they do to make what we are line up to #futureready goals and standards. #LeadLAP
You got it. I can help, so can they!!! Both have great people that really enjoy helping :) @BunceeBryan@Luchamedia I don't do anything that doesn't have great people. #leadlap
I'm with you...I love podcasts! I like Read to Lead, Better Leaders Better Schools, Principal Center Radio, Knowledge Project and TED Radio Hour. #LeadLAP

A3: growth of my Twitter PLN has been a major tech goal as well. I also do student blogging with Blogger and infographics with Canva. Twitter won’t let me link right now sorry. #leadlap
A4 @edutopia was my first edu blog. Still a front-line organization for ed in my opinion. Also, @iste for all they do to make what we are line up to #futureready goals and standards. #LeadLAP
Q5: Totally hooked right now on @cultofpedagogy blog also like @Angela_Watson Truth for Teachers, @DrBillZiegler Lead the Way, Podcast PD, & Ten Minute Teacher. I am new to podcasts in 2018, but was quickly hooked! #LeadLAP
Interesting teacher conversation about student agency this morning: Teachers are fearful of taking risks, worried about rocking the boat + have a difficult time letting go of a testing mentality. It’s so important for us to give them permission to fail forward. #EdCampBullCity
Thanks for the shoutout! We're coming up to our one year anniversary and still growing. But here's the challenge. Don't just listen. Become part of the community. We'll help you get started on your own podcast! #leadlap
A5: they aren’t technically education podcasts but the Ted Radio Hour and Freakonomics always teach me something that can be applied to education & leadership. #LeadLAP

Yes true! That is when we have to have those conversations and push harder. As long as visual growth is happening that is following our team goals, then I am happy. Some can talk but are not really walking. #crucialconversations#LeadLAP
A5: working my way through The Innovators Mindset #IMMOOC podcast series via @gcouros One a day on my way to/from work... great way to start & end the day inspired! #Leadlap
Think of it as radio shows on exactly what you’re interested in. Easy to get started, on demand, just got to make the time and find others to chat about it with to maximize usefulness. #leadlap
Have to step out of #LeadLAP a little early to get the boys going. Thanks to @burgess_shelley and @BethHouf for an engaging chat this morning! Love all the recommendations!
A7: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Mead
#LeadLAP
"Imagine what our real neighbourhoods would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person.” -Mr. Rogers #LeadLAP
"Imagine what our real neighbourhoods would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person.” -Mr. Rogers #LeadLAP
A7: The line that keeps running through my head right now is, "We must expect all staff to champion for all students." @casas_jimmy Everyone should read page 14 of Culturize. #leadLAP
I’m so sad to say that I slept through most of #leadlap chat!!! What an awesome convo this morning....full of sharing and resources. I will be scrolling through the feed to take in all the awesomeness! @BethHouf@burgess_shelley#edchat#JoyfulLeaders
I just signed up for Shine texts! It is a daily text to start your morning right! Lots of nuggets you can share with students and staff. You can sign up with the link below. #loveit#ShineOn#LeadLAPhttps://t.co/T1fepqDoAL
A7: Just imagine if all your #PLN colleagues joined up together to build your own school district. You want to talk about a American education revolution! #LeadLAP#PLN365#leadupchat#edchat#edtech
A8: I am thinking about using this award show format in a staff meeting as a way to share resources and learn more about each other. Not all work based questions. Favorite TV show, favorite Ed Resource, Late Night Dinner, Method to Connect with Parents, etc...#leadLAP
If I ever find myself with the title of Superintendent, one of my first actions will be to go down my #PLN list and figure out who’s up for a move and a challenge to change the world. #leadlap
A8: We did an awards show theme for our yearbok distribution day. My Ss dressed up formally, we wrapped Hersey’s bars in gold, theme music, and awarded funny photo categories. Should try it for our awards ceremony in May maybe. #LeadLAP
A8: We have conferences coming up the middle of next month. As I am assessing, I could give awards to Ss for their accomplishments! At Thanksgiving, each S gets "I am thankful for you because..." At Christmas, "you are a blessing because..." Valentine's Day, "I love you because."
A8: Have staff acknowledge each other through awards for innovation, growth mindset, risk taking; each award could be in the form of a hashtag #LeadLAP
"The real 1:1 is more about making personal connections with every student & less about the number of devices your classroom has.” #LeadLAP#CodeBreakerhttps://t.co/O9YHXDVZsm
