Q1. We often speak about need for creativity and innovation in our classrooms, how might this affect resilience development?
-
A1 Affects it a lot. Should be open ended. Encouraged. OK not to conform.
-
A1 At their essence, creativity & innovation come from personal meaning & passion. Passion fuels resilience & keeps us going
-
Greetings from North Carolina! I'm Rosie, a senior at Elon University majoring in Secondary Education and English
-
A1: creativity & innovation involve original ideas. When we recognize/validate original ideas of Ss, we build resilience
-
A1. With creativity & innovation come add'l levels of attempts and failure....resilience is key. There's no "right answer."
-
A1 When I was in school, neither creativity nor innovation were encouraged.
-
Yes, when we accept student ideas we open the door for more https://t.co/iHfYqgE3fv

Saddens me when I think about all of the bad grammar school teachers I had. Very little joy or playfulness.

A1 Once I was not allowed to paint in class because I forgot to bring my paint and paint brushes.Had to watch everyone else.
-
Right on point! personal connectedness to learning - what could be better? https://t.co/v3O3m7WPn0

-
A1 So I looked around and told the other kids that I liked what they were painting. They appreciated it.
-
A1.Innovation is usually not achieved w/ immediate success-SS learn failure is necessary 4success. Trial &learning not error
-
A1 Creativity and innovation imply risk-taking; risk-taking demands resilience. It all just makes sense together!
-
Q2 Consider a fantastic Jazz jam session – Is this creative? Or is it hard work? Or coordinated genius? Thoughts?
-
A1 Here I was ten or eleven and I was encouraging other students. I was sad not to paint, too, though, but made most of it.
-
Love it! I just may go at the 7:50 PM mark to be tonight https://t.co/HyoiA6whKL

-
A2 It is all this. The hard work, structure, practice, & training came beforehand. The jam is pure freedom & inspiration.
-
A1 Only one to encourage creativity was my second grade teacher. I don't remember any enthusiasm. School was a dead zone.
-
how do we encourage creativity & motivation under the restraints of the CC standards? the new struggle
-
A1: Creativity is the inspiration for innovation.Explore.Try. See what happens. There's more than one way to get the answer.
-
A1 I remember playing with clay in Sunday school.Liked how it felt. Snuck some home. Had it near my bed so I could touch it.
-
We should consider that's & supports lack of purpose 4 homework
-
A2: Could be all 3. Meaningful work, authentic activity/play is a creative endeavor.
-
A2. Funny question. I think a session can be exhilarating, creative, energizing & never be seen as a challenge...for some.
-
I have no idea. I don't envy you that task. There must be some ways. Make it playful somehow?
-
Be creatively & ardently subversive. Give kids all they truly need, not mere academics. Be brave! https://t.co/8Ksb2e3VYO

Glad you are in that position. Healing just to consider what wonderful admins are out there.
-
-
Q3 How do you know when one classroom is and another is not? Is it that easy to tell the difference?
-
A2 Would be hard work, too, but I think it would be more exhilarating than hard.
-
Yes, you can tell & feel it in less than 60 seconds. U can walk in a classroom & feel inspired or....not.
-
A2 By the students and their level of engagement
-
A2 When I experience the quartet playing Kol Nidre, it's certainly not a jazz jam session but it is heavenly.
-
A3 It's always a 4 part litmus test to see that the needs of the whole S are met. Leadership, love, laughter, & learning!
-
A3 By the students and their level of engagement

A3 Yes. Looks of joy versus looks of boredom or even despair.

A3. I see creative rooms as those with open ended projects, student voice/choice, risk taking, more arts and presentatioins
-
Innovation is the process of applying creativity into a measurable change or product. Difference is the focus
-
This works in the classroom, principal's office, and the Sup's office! LOVE IT! https://t.co/p15fi9TEpP

A3 It's always a 4 part litmus test to see that the needs of the whole S are met. Leadership, love, laughter, & learning!
-
A3 I don't remember ever smiling broadly in school. Between the bullying and the routines, it was a place to kill time.
-
A3 I don't remember anyone really receiving much praise.
-
I do remember times when I smiled. When I was banished to the back of the room for having a messy desk.
-
Q4: Have you taken a audit in your classroom/s, or school? How's that look? When does it happen?
-
A3 Yes, it is funny, but my second grade teacher would have kids do desk inspections. My desk, messiest.I would get banished.
-
"Audit" Review of the activities, strategies, work that is occurring, etc..Does it happen randomly, or purposefully?
-
A3: happy kids. Kids that get to explore are more inquisitive. Those regulated are not as happy.
-
A4 I personally stress creativity, personal meaning making, & passion. Innovation is great but rare. Focus on YOU, not new.
-
A3 I'd be banished for a couple of weeks to a table where all my stuff was out for all to see. Peace and quiet.
-
A3 I guess that was my creative way of obtaining peace and quiet. I never felt bad or ashamed about having a messy desk.
-

5. Have you set aside a time to be , or is every minute an opportunity for change in your school/class?
-
Good morning from India :)
-
A4: innovative teachers help create innovative learners. It begins with us.
-
A5 Set aside time, but can also be spontaneous.
-
A5 I set time aside to write, but I also pause when I can if I am inspired.
-
A5 as a student teacher just learning the ropes, every lesson is innovative- but are my Ss being innovative as well?
-
A 4. goes hand in hand with spontaneity. Getting too stuck in the processes kill creativity.

A5 Set aside time, but can also be spontaneous.
-
A5 If I am inspired to write a poem, everything else goes out the window.
-
A5 Careful because innovation can breed pressure. Not reinvent the wheel, just tweaks & changes that move us all forward.
-
Q5: I think you keep whats working, make good become great! Ditch what is not and constant reflection is key
-
we first need an audit on how schools support innovative teaching. Then how it translates to S innovation.
-
6. , – Is or linked to one side, or the other, or is it a activity?
-
all about creating-supporting an environment where one can be and blow up status quo if needed!
-
My husband is an example of someone who is always thinking about possibilities. No turning off genius switch.
-
this was the fastest hour ever, gracias! It's not hard work b/c it's Heart Work!

True, not all lesson plans need to be innovative in order to be effective- sometimes, simple is better
-
Hi Sorry I'm just popping in. I flew home from Portland, Oregon this AM. Spent the weekend moving my 18 yr old into her dorm
-
7. What steps do you take to manage, guide, and support the process in your class/school?
-
A7 Engagement becomes investment thru creativity, choice, collaboration, challenge, controversy, critical thinking...
-
Going to try and be on and go in two minutes to sum up our night.
-
Can be but cool but also exhausting to keep up with. Always telling him to pick one idea and go with it.
-
Just arrived to and found Q2. As a musician, I find things work best for me when relaxed and in a coordinated flow.
-
Please let me know if you see me, and respond to the broadcast.
-
A7 Get to know Ss outside of the classroom& innovate based on their outside interests
-
-
-
A5 I think it's hard to pick a time to be innovative. That said, moments of planning and/or debriefing often bring insight.
-
An innovative classroom provides the students opportunities to guide the way as well as challenges… https://t.co/kGkoh7X5CV

A7 Lots and lots of time for independent reading, writing, and research. Lots of latitude to discussions.
