I use for formatives and summatives. nothing better than selfie videos answering the questions
A1: In my classroom I use to curate student work.
Where was edCamp Dallas held this year?
A1: nope and I am very interested in learning about how to use them with my Ss
is a game changer isn't it?
A1 when in the classroom I started exploring seesaw as a way for the children to share and reflect on their work.
A1 Yes! My teachers use with their parents! They are connected daily!
A2: No but I want to, I use google class but I have 120 students to keep track of. A digital port. would be great.
A1- No, super excited to learn more tonight.
A1 Haven't implemented- yet
A1: Not only can you curate student work in but you can also create.
A1: I have a digital portfolio for myself, but I am excited to see how they can be used for students!
It was in Plano. Wonderful group of teachers and volunteers. I learned so much- left with so many goals!
A1 No we do not. Would love to know more.
A1: We have a digital portfolio in our System 44 and READ 180 program that captures their oral fluency w/ a rubric for scoring
Hi! I'm so excited to be involved is this chat A1) I'm currerntly using a digital portfolio as a freshman education major !
Q1: We are just beginning to use a digital portfolio - Seesaw - So far we are enjoying the reflection aspect.
A great way to connect to parents!
such a great place to learn-I am watching and for ideas down here as well.
A1) we use it to discuss the danielson framework and find artifact for our future classrooms
A1 we are woking on using them. The whole school is moving to them slowly.
Elania, which one are you using?
wow! thanks for joining tonight!
Hi everyone Tara here 5h grade teacher in Colorado!
A1 I use Seesaw as digital portfolio and to comm. w Ps. All love it. looking to teach students how to use in class to upload work
A1 (cont.) but I have seen demos of and it captures all their work
is simple enough for young students. Easy QR code login.
a1 we are planning on using google sites and blogs I believe
A1 I just started using SeeSaw to share each child's work.
A1:I use one in my Technologies of Instruction class to learn about Danielson Framework and artifacts to use in my future classroom
This is my second year using Seesaw for digital portfolio in Head Start. Parents LOVE it!
A1 do not know of digital portfolios. Excited to learn
A1 looking to use as a way to help teachers share and collaborate as well.
DP are a great way to curate student work and for students to self assess.
Colleen from in Dorchester, MA! Excited about digital portfolios
A2: DP give the quietest students a voice. In K some Ss are still hesitant to speak up!
Q2: Parent communication, feedback for students.
A2: It show great evidence of growth or the data will inform the teacher where the Ss are struggling Keeps home-school connection
A2: digital portfolios hold authentic assessments of learning rather than 📝 tests; removes barriers like writing skills
Is DP stored individually for each child?
A2 Learning is ongoing- Ss can constantly review and reflect- not a one shot deal.
A2) helps the students to apply the information and have a voice...gives them the mic
In students have their own journal that they post to.
A2 I agree with the idea it gives our young students voice - it also provides an opportunity to showcase learning in early grades
A2 Digital portfolios help parents see what their child is learning at school & helps them to extend learning at home.
It is a permanent way to capture the learning, it is immediate
A2: To get feedback for students
A2 sharing conclusions with students, feedback, parent engagement, authentic assessment, making Thinking visible....so many reasons
I currently use mainly & parents love it! I have a hard time using same tech applications yr after yr unless they evolve
A2 Also provides chance to document learning and growth
A2 It's also away to help others understand what learning happens from play, inquiry and authentic work. Creates a shared exp.
I’m curious, how are you using differently this year after a year of experience w it? … https://t.co/f5hiszRjv4
This is my second year using Seesaw for digital portfolio in Head Start. Parents LOVE it!
A2 digitizing work allows immediate ability to share with families and stay up to date
I agree! It's easy for young students to self-reflect.
A2 authentic; Ss can reflect on their learning; communication tool
A2 Absolutely illustrates the importance of play and the integration of social emotional growth and skills
A2 to teach ownership, digital citizenship & pride in learning I want my Ss to desire to post & frame their pic & love what they do
That's one great thing about they are always looking to improve.
A2: The digital aspect enriches the portfolio with the ability to include video and recordings that don't fit in a 3 ring binder.
yes! https://t.co/8TJvL04pil
skills view helps admin who might not have a strong ECE foundation see how play develops all kinds of skills
A2) changes can be easily made, easily shared, costs less...
A3 Ditital portfolios allow parents to immediately access their child's work.
A3: you were thinking one step ahead! https://t.co/fgKyyzsqgn
A2: The digital aspect enriches the portfolio with the ability to include video and recordings that don't fit in a 3 ring binder.
A3: I would assume the instant sharing of ideas with peers, Ps, and Ts; I like the videos rather than multiple choice
A3 Digital portfolios help to make student learning visible to parents allowing for rich conversations about learning at home.
A3: It gives Ss multiple modes of communication... pictures, voice, video, drawings, etc.
A3 ditial= space saving, possibilities to share with people outside room, captures video/3D work and paper materials
It also gives parents something to talk about. No more, "What did you learn at school?", "Nothing!" https://t.co/7wdX1acwy8
A3 Ditital portfolios allow parents to immediately access their child's work.
A3: Availability, updating and finding faster, and uploading when it happens
A3: With , it gives parents instant access to their child's work.
A3 Takes up less physical space 😀; reduce paper usage; share with multiple audiences
A3: Differentiation! What a great way to give students multiple ways to "show what they know"
A3: Changes can be easily made and accessed by the parent, student, or teacher
A3: Show growth, keep the home-school connect strong, and data to drive instruction
A3 actually hearing the Ss describe work or tell their own stories is so much more powerful than reading my handwriting
A3: I also love because parents can leave voice comments for their child!
Yep! https://t.co/CPQ94d4azC
A3 Digital portfolios help to make student learning visible to parents allowing for rich conversations about learning at home.
Totally agree!!! https://t.co/lnoKUBs0wO
A3 actually hearing the Ss describe work or tell their own stories is so much more powerful than reading my handwriting
A3) Digital portfolios are a more effective means to provide documentation/evidence to Ps regarding peer interactions/social skills.
Glad you have joined the conversation you are doing a great job of sharing how you use
Video portfolios allow Ss to create and launching pad to ask and reflect.
Digital portfolios keep parents informed of their students progress at all times.
When they hit the comment button..you will see a microphone
A3: I actually send work home more frequently for Ps to keep 😝take a picture, send it home.
Great idea for using to extend learning from school to home https://t.co/vXR6UyYVBw
one thing I've done is linked articles and activities for parents to help extend learning at home.
A4 Students are put in the drivers seat concerning thier assessment & learning.
Those who use how do you pay for it? School budget? Grant? What devices do you use?
A4) as a student having a digital portfolio helps me to think through what I've learned and being able to write it in my own words
A4 Students are able to curate what is valuable to reflect thier growth.
oral language development, goal setting, giving feedback, learning from peers, confidence, reflection, editing
Saw on its site that there are diff pricing plans.
It's free- the paid version would allow kids to carry their portfolio throughout the grades I believe.
A4 students take ownership in their learning; fam stays informed & engaged??!!
A4: Students get a chance to reflect on what they've learned- and Ss need the chance to reflect just as much as Ts do!
There is a paid version, but you can do a lot with the free version.
A4 oral language development, goal setting, giving feedback, learning from peers, confidence, reflection, editing
A4: I've had a 4 yr old look at the picture of work and say, "No, I can do better." And then start on a second draft.
OK. What devices do people use or prefer? iPad? Chromebooks? Laptops? other?
Yes I am! Do you have a question about it?
A4) digital portfolios are an effective way to communicate student learning when a child transitions to different ps tchr or kinder
I am a 1:1 ipad classroom, but you can also use chromebooks and laptops.
Hi everyone! Sorry I'm joining so late, but I'm an Early Childhood Education major at Albright College, currently in my junior year!
What content areas is it used for most?
https://t.co/9QLUYbHNvk
A4: I've had a 4 yr old look at the picture of work and say, "No, I can do better." And then start on a second draft.
A4: This was great for my Ss who had difficulty understanding plant growth. It grew before their eyes. https://t.co/iO0a4427mV
Most T's I know access via their own mobile devices/phones. S’s are using iPads to upload content.
Any ideas or suggestions PLN? https://t.co/7ChAgoHTw5
ISO app that allows me to link DP content to CCSS (similar to Creative Curriculum Gold)- is such ftr avail in pd seesaw?
a4) students can share their work with their parents, parents can read their child's work and the classes from their phones
A5: DPs give parents access to what is happening in the classroom. They will feel more prepared to have conversations with Ts
Hi Emily! Welcome to I ‘m so pumped that you are joining the chat as a pre-service T. ; )
A5. It builds bridges by giving Ss a visual to voice their learning.
A5 regular communication between Ts & fams & Ss; again, informed & engaged👍🏻
A6: gives parents a glimpse inside our learning each day. Ps receive notifications when their child uploads work!
I would tweet - always responsive with questions and eventual changes!
This is a cool feature! https://t.co/rQNzeXiG7g
A6: gives parents a glimpse inside our learning each day. Ps receive notifications when their child uploads work!
What kind of apps or resoures do you use for a DP? Just trying to get some ideas for my class!
A5: Ps are partners in their Ss learning journey and can support next steps by seeing models of activities they could try at home!
A6: I'm not sure about this one! Hoping my PLN comes through with some great insights! :)
I’m an assistant principal at an Early Childhood School w all PreK age students.
A6 Can be used to review during progress report time. May also be used in conjunction with rubrics for PBL
No..They always love looking at their child's work. But you can change the settings if it becomes a problem.
Attaching the standards???
A7: Go slow..and don't try to do everything at once.
Thank you for joining tonight. Remember to follow the awesome friends that you connected with tonight!
A7: With young Ss, we had to practice the rituals and routines of using devices.
Be on the lookout for the archive of tonight's chat. Thanks again for joining You all made it terrific!
a7) perhap have the students work together on one digital portfolio for starters
