Our first day is usually about Aug 20. So different from when I went to school

A2: I think the end of the year is a little harder because we are tired but it is the last impression they have of 2nd grade.

In VA, we are required to start after Labor Day - have to get a special exemption to start earlier

A2: As the K-12 math coach, I want 2nd graders to discover their identities as capable mathematicians - falling in luv with math
A3 They love to write about most memorable moments, their loves, challenges, what they are looking forward to next year

A3: I make a memory book for each child with special projects/photos/moments. They love it!

I am also taking my Grade 2s on to Grade 3 next year so it gives a different feel to the end of the year

I haven't looped in a few years, but did the 2/3 loop for about 10 yrs. It remains my favorite.

A3: I think kids (and adults for that matter) do not realize how much they grow in one year. Looking back and comparing is good!

SHunts can be theme based on a fav read aloud, science concept, math facts etc.
A4: I saw something about using on the ipad to let the students write compliments about each other.
Also, do a camping day and game day. Putting together a to share with Terry's class

A2: We always do a writing celebration as our end of the year party. Each kid chooses a piece of writing they would like to share.

I LOVE using Google docs with my 2nd graders. I cannot imagine life without it now! My kids can use Google drive/slides

Do you use it a lot yourself? They just dive right in! Let them type one of their 1st writing assignments.

First thing I would have them do is create a folder w/ their name and share it with you.Then you can see their writing.
Yes! Slides is way easier for them to use. I even had a group of kids teach the rest of the class how to use it.
I love ! I am an ambassador for them. It is easy to use. Ps & Ss think it's pretty amazing!!!
I want to do more of that next year. I'm going to let my kids try it out the next 2 weeks 1/2 to get used to it. :)
