A1- I have been learning recently about SeeSaw from my practicum teacher. It's a really great way to get students involved with technology and also loop in the parents! #edtech207
Hi! My name is Alyssa Leonard and I am a pre-service teacher at the University of Maine at Farmington! I’m currently at my Practicum placement in a 3rd grade classroom at Dirigo Elementary! #EdTech207
A1: As we have seen class here at UMF and in Mallet Elementary School, Seesaw is a tool that is used. Seesaw allows students to video their work and allows them to explain their thinking! #edtech207
A1: Good Evening! Shana from Orono High School following along. I teach students grades 9-12 and a variety of social studies classes. I “dabble” in tech and other things as well. #edtech207
A1: Toooooootally the Google Suite in high school. It's invaluable. It has allowed me to go almost paperless, and maintaining their Drive has helped my students figure out organization workflows that work for them. #GAFE#fangirl#itworksifyouworkit#EdTech207
#EdTech207 I am not currently in the classroom, but I have been so excited to learn about how educators are using @Flipgrid in their classrooms. I can't wait to use it with students!
#edtech207 A1: Something that I have found useful in my own practicum is the use of an ipad to project the student's work on the board. The student can then explain their work to the class, and they can see it.

#EDTech207 A1: Audio books can be a great tool for the classroom. I would say the audio books work best accompanied with the student following along with the text in front of them.
#edtech207 A1 Something I see in my practicum classes and what we use in our classes at Husson is Kahoot! It's such a fun way to test student knowledge.
#edtech207 A1 - I have seen smartphones used in a classroom. They can be used with Kahoots where students take quizzes and compete against their classmates!
#EdTech207 Hi! I'm Maureen Connell, Innovation Center Director at Caribou Middle School. A1 - My students are really excited about Sphero robots. The 7th/8th graders had a blast creating mazes and coding the Spheros to navigate through the mazes.
I played with garageband for the first time at @ACTEM this year and am completely smitten. Next semester goal is to integrate into my early literacy class for multimodal poetry. #EdTech207

#edtech207 A1 Something I see in my practicum classes and what we use in our classes at Husson is Kahoot! It's such a fun way to test student knowledge.
#edtech207 Currently doing it! At Husson we take @snappity ‘s class called Technology in Education to help us learn great skills and things to use in the classroom!
#EdTech207 A1: At the college level, I’ve seen a lot of success in using Quizlet. it’s an easy way to access all types of study techniques conveniently located in one place! no more messing around with hand written flash cards.
So excited to share my new book ‘uNforgettable’ with pre service teachers this weekend to help them with building relationships as teachers! Feel free to check it out https://t.co/eKx698MXkR#EdTech207
A2: At UMF, in our tech class we have discussed a variety of tools recommended by the professors. We are also doing a project where we are in groups and have to choose a tech tool and share it with our class! #EdTech207
#EDTech207 A1: I am in a high school right now, and I have noticed that the students use google classroom a lot! The usage of this supports the students' learning goals because a lot of students have said to me that it helps them remain more organized.
#EdTech207 A1 I love the voice to text feature. I have found that as a student I talk better than I do typing. This enables me to have a conversation as if I was presenting and it records everything and types it. I love it.
A2: for my uni faculty we have faculty development days at start and end of year, and I do focused live webinars and share recordings after (in addition to “just in time” PD) #EDTech207
#edtech207 A2: Currently doing it! At Husson we take @snappity ‘s class called Technology in Education to help us learn great skills and things to use in the classroom!
#ed307 This one you might think of what you see in your practicum schools or observe what experienced teachers have, don’t panic if you don’t have an answer for this one! #EDTech207
A2: It's a little uneven sometimes, just because there are such a wide range of needs in the school, but thankfully most of it is self-selected, so you can decide where to invest your time. We have the BESTEST TECH INTEGRATOR in the whole wide world, though! @emerycath#Edtech207
A2 We used to have regularly scheduled experiences, but now it is much more ala carte w colleagues helping one another & a tech integrator available for consult; I do a lot of tech integration work w colleagues in my new role as #SICMBC edu director #edtech207
A1: Ohhh soo many tools!
Right now I'm rocking Quizizz - like Kahoot but even better!
#1 the students work at their own pace, #2 question project on their own screens, #3 cool memes, #4 you can download the data for assessment and planning purposes! #EdTech207
A1: In my practicum, the teacher used her iPhone and an app called "Class Dojo" to promote student learning, awarding points to them as they completed assignments. #edtech207
A2: for my uni faculty we have faculty development days at start and end of year, and I do focused live webinars and share recordings after (in addition to “just in time” PD) #EDTech207
#edtech207 A2: At Husson, our Technology in Education class taught by @snappity teaches us a lot about the uses of technology in learning. I have seen many of these in use in my 8th grade practicum already!
#EdTech207 Ed Tech PD was typically a very self driven endeavor in my former environment. We had some presentations or workshops (some I ran), but it was fairly limited.
#edtech207 At Husson we've switched from paper tests to ExamSoft. It allows our professors to test us on our laptops with multiple types of questions and ensures we aren't using our laptops for anything other than the exam. It also saves paper which is a huge plus!
A1: In my practicum, the teacher used her iPhone and an app called "Class Dojo" to promote student learning, awarding points to them as they completed assignments. #edtech207
#EdTech207 Q2 we have workshops where we sign up for sessions that are provided by specialists and coworkers. We are encouraged to host sessions if we are able to teach technology that we love and use.

Hi - Dorothy NJ - 11 years - mentor A1: @AdobeStudents Creative Suite, Google Classroom, Twitter, Instagram, @lynda A2: District uses a lot of choice learning opportunities - from small groups to large group, to individual webinars, to pineapple style peer observations #EdTech207
A1: In my Practicum, we have been recording our students writing on GarageBand and then turning that into a QR code to attach to the writing! We also have 1:1 IPads and use eSpark! #EdTech207
For ‘experts’ good to remember ‘curse of knowledge,’ try to remember what you’ve forgotten you never knew. Focused on one specific thing are very popular. #Edtech207
A2: for my uni faculty we have faculty development days at start and end of year, and I do focused live webinars and share recordings after (in addition to “just in time” PD) #EDTech207
A2 Thank goodness for my hallway neighbor at U Maine Farmington. Our ( @MeredithSwallow )informal conversations lead to amazing progress in both small and enormous ways #EdTech207
#EDTech207 A2: In all the practicums I have been in, I have noticed that all the students either have laptops or IPads. I have seen this from grade 5-9, and it seems to work well for students even at the fifth-grade level. Google Classroom is a big one as well.
Oh No! I've been using Plickers more lately - ok well last year I have not pulled them out yet this year. Bummed that there was a bad update - so maybe I won't update :-) BTW - Good to "see you" online. #EdTech207
#EDTech207 A3: I am currently here for a Technology in Education class at Husson. They stress the importance of how technology can maximize the learning of students. Also what different types of technology they can use.
And it has improved dramatically in recent years as voice assistants become more marketable; the bonus for students is that text recognition software has improved and reduce barriers to demonstration of understanding #edtech207
#edtech207 A2: I am currently taking a class @HussonU that is called Technology in Education where we are learning lots on how to incorporate technology into our classroom! @snappity
A2 Lots of PD at East Grand - Have Ann Marie from MLTI/Apple coming on a regular basis. Co-Teacher @Jennyg2323 and I presenting local LTT Learning Design Leaders workshop in March. #edtech207
Hi! I’m Jasmine! I’m currently studying to be a special ed teacher at the University of Maine at Farmington! Im also in my practicum at Mt. Blue Middle 😊#edtech207
#EdTech207 A2: In many elementary schools and middle schools i have seen students participating in a “computer class” in which they learn basics of typing and searching the web so they are familiar with the tools that they will use in class later on!
There's a lot to like about Google Classroom & @alicekeeler is a great resource for pointing you toward things you may not realize you can do; I still wish you could search the feeds for posts, though; would make it much friendly for my brain #edtech207
In reply to
@casandrajlap, @WDsLitCrew, @alicekeeler
#edtech207 A3 With the help of our amazing professor @snappity who teaches our Technology in Education course! We learn so many tools every class that will benefit our future classrooms.
A3: As mentioned previously, we have great professors at UMF @MeredithSwallow and @WDsLitCrew who give us tools. WD also took us to a conference which was a first for many of us! #EdTech207
#EdTech207 A2 - For most staff, there isn't much PD in educational technology unless it's sought elsewhere. I collaborate with colleagues and assist with informal tech integration when I can. I'm learning a lot myself right now, hoping to inform my colleagues in the future.
#EdTech207 A3: The school I am currently at doesn't use technology a lot. In one of my previous practicums, a younger teacher encouraged her fifth graders to use powerpoint, kahoot, etc. Right now I am taking a technology in education course that helps me learn more about this.
A2: I am currently taking a course called Technology in Education at Husson and it is a very informative class. I have learned a lot about how technology can be integrated into classrooms for maximum student learning. #edtech207
A3 I don't know that there's a specific strategy for new & pre-service educators in our school; I know I spend a bunch of time having great convos w emerging educators who want to amplify student learning & leverage #edtech to do it #edtech207
A3: PSTs have me in #ED307 and then circle back in internship semester where I help with portfolio dev and remind them of all I taught them a year or so before 😉 also have a tech library if Ss need resources that a mentor T can’t provide. (little bits, go pro, makey) #edtech207
A3: At that conference, there was a great presentation on how iPads can be used to replace paper and whiteboards in the classroom! I loved this idea #savethetrees#EdTech207
#EdTech207 our teacher @snappity has a specific class that is geared toward implementing technology into the classroom. We develop professionally through our assignments that are very much education/classroom based.
@MeredithSwallow#edtech207 A2: We just had PD today on how to formally use the diagnostic tools of IXL, but mostly we have PD around GSuite and Kami (PDF write up platform), and support teachers at the 1:1 level as much as possible in the moment/when the need arises.
A4: At Husson, they give us students opportunities to observe and get in the field to teach. They give us opportunities to see what we like for technology and to use them in some settings. #edtech207
#EdTech207 A3: With the Technology in Education course, we are shown how to use many different useful tech resources that we will one day integrate into our own classrooms!
A3: #edtech207 same thing as my A2! @snappity has a wonderful class for PURPOSEFUL integration. No substituting paper reading for simple slides instead!!!!
A3: We're 1:1 with Chromebooks at OHCHS. A couple of the new Ts aren't used to them, but neither were the veterans tbh. As we move through the transition, frequent conversations are really important. We encourage each other to ASK QUESTIONS. #edtech207
#EdTech207 A3: In our Technology in Education class, we are currently learning ways that technology can be more useful when we move into the classroom.
A3: We have a technology class here on UMF that helps us learn how to purposefully add technology into the classroom! By learning new tech tools we can help our current and future learners! @MeredithSwallow#edtech207
A3 There are great collaborations happening right now with RSU9 elementary classrooms supporting pre and in-service educators. Thanks @nicoleconnected for opening your classroom! #edtech207
#edtech207 A3: In my classes at Husson, we consistently use google docs for almost everything writing. I have used google slides for presentations as well. It's an amazing difference in efficiency and quality of collaboration.
#EdTech207 Q3 At my school we have a mentor program where new teachers do get support with a veteran teacher, technology integration like google classroom and other resources are shared.
A3: We have Edtechs that can come into the classroom & assist in implementing new tech strategies, a Google Classroom for Tech tips for teachers, as well as, many PDs that are dedicated to tech. 1:1 helps too #EdTech207
A3: We're 1:1 with Chromebooks at OHCHS. A couple of the new Ts aren't used to them, but neither were the veterans tbh. As we move through the transition, frequent conversations are really important. We encourage each other to ASK QUESTIONS. #edtech207
#edtech207 A3: In a methods in writing class at Husson, we created a piece where we combined "hotspots" of three of four essays. We combined them using a google doc, and then recorded them together using garage band. Awesome use of technology.
A2- I am currently taking a course at Husson University called Technology in Education where we are learning some really fun ways to use technology in our classrooms. #edtech207
@MeredithSwallow#edtech207 A3: There is much more 1:1 assistance and guidance between the teaching partner and the new staff member, as well as 1:1 with the new staff and the STEM ed tech and all tech department staff to implement and show what has/is working for others.
#EdTech207 During this semester, my professor @snappity has shown me numerous ways to incorporate technology into a classroom. These ideas are not only helpful for my future students, but I am also becoming more comfortable with using technology for my own work.
#edtech207 In Technology in Education, we are learning many new ways to integrate technology into our future classroom instead of only using substitution for writing on a computer to substitute for paper.

Multi-age 1/2 teacher in a proficiency based school. The Superintendent walked into my classroom today with DOE members and my kids nailed their goal setting! Little silent round of applause! #EdTech207
#EdTech207 A3: During this semester, my professor @snappity has shown me numerous ways to incorporate technology into a classroom. These ideas are not only helpful for my future students, but I am also becoming more comfortable with using technology for my own work.
#EdTech207 A3- At Husson, there is #Ed307 course that teaches us pre-service teachers all about how to integrate technology into the classroom! It is very helpful.
A4: I'm taking the opportunity to make free accounts and try out technology tools that are introduced to me so I can explore them more on my own. I've been using EpicBooks, SeeSaw, StorylineOnline, etc. #Edtech207
@MeredithSwallow#edtech207 I have an innate passion and drive for more learning with technology. More classes at the graduate level help, as well as conferences and #edtech searches.
A4: Since we have been assigned our "tech tool share" with @MeredithSwallow I have been researching more what can be used in my future classroom as well as learning great tools from my peers! I also seek out new tools from my mentor teachers at Rumford Elementary #EdTech207
A4: PODCASTS! (Ok, I drive a lot - long trips to southern Maine) Google Teacher Tribe, ASCD Radio, and not very techy but wonderful LeVar Burton Reads (which is Reading Rainbow for adults! He even ends with "you don't have to take my word for it.") #EdTech207
A4: constantly reading, trying, and learning. Blogs, twitter, and just poking around to feel different tools and methods out. My class changes every term, always evolving! #Edtech207#lifelonglearner
#EdTech207 A4 - This could fill a page for me... in the past four months since starting my job, I've taken two classes, attended two workshops at MIT, and learned about so much technology through research and experimenting. Continual seeking!
#edtech207 A3 - In Technology in Education, we are learning many new ways to integrate technology into our future classroom instead of only using substitution for writing on a computer to substitute for paper.
#EdTech207 A3: During this semester, my professor @snappity has shown me numerous ways to incorporate technology into a classroom. These ideas are not only helpful for my future students, but I am also becoming more comfortable with using technology for my own work.
#edtech207 At Husson we have been encouraged to use tech in most of our projects in many different ED courses. This has worked well to help introduce ourselves to tech use in the classroom.
My name is Sami Ireland and I'm a Junior at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. I am in the Secondary Education program with a focus in English, and am enrolled in my second practicum this semester! #EdTech207
A4: I've completed the reqs for a Classroom Technology Integrationist certificate, and am halfway through my M.Ed. in Instructional Tech through the UMaine system's collaborative degree. Translation: I spend a ton of time playing with cool new stuff online. #oohshiny#edtech207
A3: In my Practicum placement, they use a TON of tech, but I haven’t seen any that specifically support pre-service teachers. Thankfully, here at UMF we have a great tech course, in my Practicum block, that has exposed us to many different tech tools! #EdTech207
A5: I am testing and researching how other tech. tools work in the classroom. Also how they enhance student learning and help them do their work more effectively. #edtech207
#EdTech207 A4: Our Technology in Education class is really helping me get better at a lot of aspects that come with using technology. I was never really big on technology before this class so getting the extra practice helps.
A3: As a preservice teacher, I'm being shown (through my Technology in Education class) so many new ways to integrate technology into my future classroom that I did not know before! I am bringing those new ideas into the field. #edtech207
I have a clip of Levar saying that in my intro pages to my class, “advice from former students.” every class ends with students sharing advice for the next class. Sometimes they take it. #Edtech207
#edtech207 A4 In Technology in Education I take as many notes as I can and try to familiarize myself with the tools as much as possible. I also look online at articles/blogs/whatever else to get ideas from others to incorporate technology as much as I can.
#EdTech207 A4: When i’m shown a new tech tool that i’m unfamiliar with, i make sure to ask @snappity any questions about it i may have! I try to familiarize myself with any resources that seem useful to me or my future students.
#EdTech207 A4 As a secondary science teacher I am always interested in BUDGET FRIENDLY ways to implement more technology in the classroom. Virtual labs are awesome. I love exploring.
A3- Husson University gets students out in the field on many occasions so that we can see how technology is currently being used by teachers today. #edtech207
#EdTech207 I started graduate level coursework to expand my own knowledge in this area. Prior to that, much of my own edtech learning was finding information through edtech blogs or podcasts and doing my own research and explorations.
This is deliberate, I work with faculty to make tech integrated throughout the program, not just my class! It took some work to get there! glad you noticed, :) #Edtech207
#edtech207 At Husson we have been encouraged to use tech in most of our projects in many different ED courses. This has worked well to help introduce ourselves to tech use in the classroom.
#EdTech207 A4: I have learned cool new tools through my classmates in my practicum classes. By learning from them I can see how these cool tools are used in their schools!
Proud of my #EDT598#designthinking crew this semester via @UMaineOnline; they are really pushing themselves into new ways of thinking, leveraging technology in the service of human centered empathy fueled problem solving #edtech207#dtk12chat
Q4 Always reflecting on my teaching often leads me to try new things in the never ending search to grow my teaching practice. These are often new technologies or ways of thinking about how I am using a tool. #edtech207
A4: Met some rockstar teachers from my PLN which we have collaborated on great digital projects together, certs, tutorials, innovating - failing and learning from it #edtech207
#edtech207 A4: Through our Technology in Education course at Husson we are able to explore and practice with many helpful educational tech tools that we can later integrate into our own lessons.
A1 One tech tool I think is working to support student learning goals is the use of Google as a means of student collaboration and submission. In my first practicum, my mentor used Google Classroom for students to see and submit assignments #edtech207 .
I think we do it a lot better than my UM experience which is admittedly a while ago! we had one 100 hr exp and then student taught in the same classroom, HU Ss get so much more exposure/variety #EdTech207
#EDTech207 A4: I am working towards using it more effectively within my own teaching. I tend to stray away from tech, I am a whiteboard kind of guy, but I have been working towards better and smoother integration.
A4- To drive my own learning around educational technology I have been collaborating with the teachers I work with as well as the teachers who are mentoring me for my practicum and discovering the technology they use with their students and exploring them for myself. #edtech207
Ipads and Laptops are the device ... how they are used (what software) is key ... I can have an awesome computer, but if all I am doing is looking at YouTube videos I am not really using it to its max potential. #edtech207
Q4 I look at the learning goals and targets, then I consider what technology can enhance and elevate the student’s learning. I don’t believe you should look at the tech first, the learning is the goal, the tech simply supports the learning. #edtech207
There are plusses and minuses about Google Classroom; definitely a boon for the more organized & linear brains -- a huge help; for those of more . . . abstract . . . in our workflows, it can be frustrating #edtech207
A5 For the mentor, it’s so so so important to meet the mentee where they are at and not overwhelm. One bite at a time, my first Q is always “what is your objective?” then go from there. + just general modeling curiosity #EdTech207
A2 At Husson, @snappity teaches our Technology in Education course. This course provides us Education majors with different tech tool options for the classroom, and also how they help learners reach their goals. #edtech207
#EdTech207 A5 Youtube could be great for this. I find inspirational videos for first year teachers. It is a great place to find a mentor and follow them. They can be a great asset. You could also find some great blogs to follow.
A4: It is important for teachers to stay up to date on technology so that they can use it in the most relevant and engaging ways. By learning about how to integrate technology, I can effectively teach my students in new and interesting ways. #edtech207
A5: Having conversations with fellow pre-service teacher, current teachers and professors can help me explore new technology that can be impactful to classrooms. Learning about how tools are effective and ineffective can deepen my thinking on how to implement them. #edtech207
#edtech207 A5: I’m not quite sure I’m in the place right now to mentor somebody, but I’d likely point them in the direction of someone who could!! I could definitely help them look up helpful sites online though and find good resources!
Google Classroom is pretty powerful ... I use it in my classes ... the ability to front load content into the virtual classroom enables me to have small group instruction #edtech207
I agree that learning is the goal AND I think it's okay for us to be explorers & engage in meaningful play w technology so that it might awaken possibilities for its purposeful integration #edtech207
#EdTech207 Simply sharing something we have found to be helpful can help create conversations. Sharing where we are and what we are working towards allows others to do the same. I always had a lot of luck offering to share after school or during common planning times.
Q5 I think in mentoring it is important to be real and honest. When we are willing to talk about our learning opportunities (failures), more openness for growth is possible. #edtech207
#edtech207 A4 - In my Technology in Education class @HussonU we are learning of many new websites that we can incorporate into our future classroom. We have created a blog, portfolio, pixton, etc!
A5 informal mentoring is really key for me - trying to authentically use as many tools as I can so I can show what it looks like - also making sure my examples are not perfect - goofs are part of the learning #EdTech207
A3 As discussed before, it is part of our curriculum at Husson, to take Technology in Education. I also believe our experiential learning (i.e our clinical, practicums, and student teaching) allow us to observe teachers using technology in the classroom everyday. #edtech207
#EdTech207 A5 - Right now I'm inviting lots of classes into my space for an intro to the Innovation Center, intro to Design Thinking, and a design challenge. Students and teachers (new and veteran) get a taste for what's possible. Mentoring, but not.
Ipads and Laptops are the device ... how they are used (what software) is key ... I can have an awesome computer, but if all I am doing is looking at YouTube videos I am not really using it to its max potential. #edtech207
A5 That's actually part of the idea behind my design challenge in #edt598 with @WickedDecent Coming up with communication tool for co-teacher & I Google doc? @Trello board? Not sure yet #edtech207#dtk12chat
Q6 How are pre-service teachers and new educators in your school empowered to share their knowledge about purposeful technology integration with their colleagues? #EdTech207
Q5 I think in mentoring it is important to be real and honest. When we are willing to talk about our learning opportunities (failures), more openness for growth is possible. #edtech207
#EdTech207 A5: I feel like it is important to include other faculty in events in your own classroom. They could learn from the technology that you use, you are always modeling as a teacher.
A5: Start small.Choose 2 tech tools & embed in lessons the new teachers are comfortable teaching - slowly expand. Tech should be used to drive, expand, enhance instruction, have purpose, help create differentiated lessons, Also, assist in more personalized learning #edtech207
A5: After I get a few years of experience under my belt, I could see myself offering my assistance with some of the “older” gen teachers who maybe aren’t as comfortable with using technology as I would be. #EdTech207
#edtech207 A5. Informal mentoring ccurs in a relationship between two people where one gains insight, knowledge, wisdom, friendship, and support from the other. This could be done through the ues of social media by sharing your new findings, or mentor groups for support
Q5 #edtech207 I think that if you find something that works you need to advertise and share. We all have the same goal in education of giving our kids the best. Staff and curriculum meetings are a good place to present new ideas.
Don't underestimate the power of Twitter ... Twitter is a two way conversation whereas YouTube is more about consumption. Here you can actually engage with educators from around the world. #EdTech207
I always like the IDEA of @trello & then realize it just doesn't work for my brain; what works for me . . .sadly perhaps . . . email. Like just . . email. Twitter DMs can work too. But mostly? Email. #edtech207#dtk12chat
#EdTech207 A6 In my clinical experience my mentor teacher was really good about showing me and giving me access to all the technology he used. He helped me learn it and utilize it with purpose. It was a great experience.
A6 for my #ed307 they have a ‘deep dive’ project where they select a tech topic they are interested in and I help guide their research, then they share with class. They choose, not assigned. #EdTech207
Q6 How are pre-service teachers and new educators in your school empowered to share their knowledge about purposeful technology integration with their colleagues? #EdTech207
A5: Informally? Become the purveyor of shiny things and say “Have you seen this cool new tool?” A dozen times a day to anyone you think might be interested. Follow up with “I can help with that.” #EdTech207
A6: Something I totally need to get better at - encouraging our pre-service teachers to share. This will be a good activity for our common departmental planning time. #EdTech207
A6: We are encouraged to do research and share out in class. Some of us also carpool on the way to our practicum placements which is a great chance to share what we’ve seen or researched. #EdTech207
A4 I'm driving my own learning around education technology integration by pushing myself to find easier ways for students to reach their learning goals. I integrated technology in my practicum lesson along with hypothetical lessons I've been doing for assignments. #edtech207
A5 for the preservice teachers if you are wondering how to mentor, think of who you should look to for mentors yourself, too (not the one complaining about tech in the teachers lunchroom!) #EDTech207
#EDTech207 We are encouraged to peer review in our school, to allow others to see our ideas and help gain a new perspective from others. Collaboration is stressed, and it has been vital in creating open discussion about our learning.
A5- If I were to informally mentor someone I would definitely show them some teacher blogs because after being introduced to them by @snappity I found some great information from current and former teachers! #edtech207
Yes Resolution and Size matters ... I try not to brag, but I have kick a_s tech in my world ... all HighDef ... the Dell Laptops are good, but not nearly as nice as my MacBookAirs... yeah I have two carts. #Spoiled#EdTech207
#edtech207 A6 We're learning so many different tools along with how to use them. We have specific classes (Technology in Education) that show us the ropes with hands on learning. If we share our knowledge with other teachers all students will benefit!
Educators were always welcome to offer to share something new, in any way they felt may be helpful. There were also cases of admins inviting teachers to share their work and tools. #EdTech207
Q6 How are pre-service teachers and new educators in your school empowered to share their knowledge about purposeful technology integration with their colleagues? #EdTech207
A6 Don't think they are empowered. This should change tho. In past we have done sharing at staff mtgs, but not much time. There are other focuses now #projectbasedlearning#edtech207
A6 - My admin is really supportive of me, as an educator new to their school, sharing technology with other staff. I offered to lead an in-school PD with hands-on technology (Spheros?) to encourage buy-in of resistant teachers. #EdTech207
A6- unfortunately I don’t feel like we do a good job sharing with or letting new teachers share. This is year 4 and I am just finally getting some opportunities 😔😔😔 #Edtech207
#edtech207 A5 - Since I am still in the process of learning of the technology tools to incorporate within a classroom, I would not consider myself to be a mentor just yet. However, I would be able to give some incite on great tools like the ones I have learned about in class.
Can I get an amen? We all need each other and have experiences and knowledge to offer, no matter how long we have been a part of the profession. #edtech207
A7: Departments and teachers within the schools could meet and discuss the positive outcomes of technology along with negative ones to stay away from. #edtech207
A6- In my practicum meetings we are encouraged to share our experiences from the classrooms we are in and have some great conversations about what we are seeing used throughout classrooms and what we think is working well. #edtech207
A6: At Husson, the students and staff in the education department are very willing to share new ideas with one another, especially involving technology. We are all working towards the same goal of becoming the best teachers that we can be! #edtech207

Twitter validates your crazy ... redefines how you see the profession and empowers you because it gives you a different support structure and in many cases puts you years ahead of your schoolhouse peers. #edtech207

A7: Force then to take risks. @WDsLitCrew and @MeredithSwallow have done well with this. They put us in situations where we are forced to take risks with each other, especially in our most recent class project! #EdTech207
#edtech207 A6: Most of our assignment submissions are via a Blog post which helps us familiarize ourselves with a different way to connect with others using education-based technology.
I am very new to Twitter and I will be very honest it has been hard to get used to. BUT it is much more "people friendly". You can find so many resources. You gain professional relationships. #EdTech207

A6: Having experienced educators in my family has had a lot of influences on my own career. i’m lucky to have many different resources close to me who are always sharing their knowledge and ideas surrounding technology #EdTech207
A7: The same way we encourage students to take risks. Provide them with multiple opportunities to do so, and respond with constructive and positive feedback. #edtech207
A7 access to tech and freedom to find meaningful ways to integrate into their classroom . Teachers need to know their students and understand what may work for each learner. Tech is not a one size fits all. Check and adjust as needed. #edtech207
A7 Demonstrate and document risk and failure and recovery. I always tell the story of how I failed out of UMF only to end up making a career out of the reason I failed out! (Spending all my time in the PC lab (1994) #EdTech207
A7: I think a big part of the process is knowing that the whole process is not going to be prefect! As what @johannaprince said that making goofs is part of the learning process. If we can model that, taking the step to trying something new
can be less intimidating. #EdTech207
A7: Pre-service teachers can be encouraged to take risks by being reminded that they have nothing to lose! Lessons can be improved, and teachers are always changing their strategies to maximize student learning. #edtech207
#edtech207 In our class, we were encouraged to join this twitter chat to connect with other educators. In Technology in Education we also peer review our peer's blogs and give incite on additions or improvements. We also have discussions where we read and comment on other's posts
A8: We could get them out of their comfort zones in different situations. We could also give them things to do or use in class that they haven't used before. #edtech207
Twitter gave me the opportunity to amplify my voice when I thought no one wanted to listen to me -- except my closest circle of friends -- and when I thought my ideas shaky & naive; I found a family of critical colleagues in #dtk12chat & my world expanded from there #edtech207

#EdTech207 A6- As pre-service teachers, I feel that we discuss what we like and dislike technology wise based on how the technology works for students. If the technology doesn't really benefit the students learning then we usually don't like it!
#edtech207 A6: we do a lot of group work at Husson! Being able to share things with other students and teachers is a great way to collaborate and bring new tech to light
#edtech207 A7 As a preservice teacher I know not everything I teach or use is going to work well/at all. Teaching can be trial & error & we just need to remember that if we take a risk & it works, great! If not, look back over it $ either try again or move on to something new.
A7: As a current pre-service teacher, i’m constantly encouraged to take risks because even if a mistake is made, you can always learn something from it and reflect on it! #EdTech207
#EdTech207 A7 tricky question. Pre service teachers I believe take risks everyday they are in the classroom. Maybe we could encourage them more in the professional world and provide positive feedback. Maybe they would take more risks if they felt more comfortable? Small steps!
Q7 #edtech207 It's okay to fail! No matter the experience level we all do things that don't work the way we would like them to, but that's how you grow. If you don't take risks and try new things you stay static and the kids pick up on it.
#edtech207 A7: I think just being reassured that we’re confident and capable is helpful! And always reaching out to see if we need help! Tech (and teaching in general) can be confusing!
A5 I grew up with younger siblings. I always was the one that had to teach them how to play video games, set up social media accounts, and how to download music. I became an informal technology mentor to them by doing this. #edtech207
Twitter takes some getting used to ... when you chat you are chatting with people NOT titles ...you are just talking education with great educators. #edtech207

#EdTech207 A7- Even though taking risks is scary...we have to take the risk as pre-service teachers or we will never know the outcome! It is better to know then wonder.
Love this. It holds true throughout your career, too. Lesson a flop? Change it up tomorrow! Ideate and iterate! Taking creative risks lets us gain way more than we lose. #edtech207
A7: Pre-service teachers can be encouraged to take risks by being reminded that they have nothing to lose! Lessons can be improved, and teachers are always changing their strategies to maximize student learning. #edtech207
#edtech207 A7 - Pre-service teachers can be encouraged if they were told that they have many other experienced teachers that are there to support them and answer any questions! It is always important to remember to lean on your colleagues and look to them for advice.
#EdTech207 A6: When I first started at my practicum, my mentor teacher made sure I could have access to all her unit plans and to school resources! This made my transition a lot easier as I found ways to incorporate my own technology along with things the kids are familiar with.
A7 Ask them to share their knowledge at staff meetings. Younger people know more than me most of the time or at least have a different perspective #edtech207
A8: Maybe if we have a class, the following class period share with us how you reflected on what you taught us and how you continue to reflect. Our professors are pretty open with us and share their thought process when things don’t go as expected. #EdTech207
A6 In our Technology in Education course at Husson, we are encouraged to share our experiences with each other. We hear many stories about tech tools that people have seen in the classroom, in their jobs, and in their everyday lives. We also post blogs to share as well #edtech207
#EdTech207 A8 In my experience it has been my mentor teachers simply showing success in their classroom with student achievement in relation with technology. The grades reflect the students take to the technology more. They are familiar and enjoy playing with it.
A7- I believe the best way to encourage pre-service teachers to take risks is by creating an environment where they feel comfortable in doing so by modeling things like risk taking, self reflection, improvement! #edtech207
#edtech207 A7 - Pre-service teachers can be encouraged if they were told that they have many other experienced teachers that are there to support them and answer any questions! This means that they should not be afraid of trying something new, they can always reflect & try again.
A8: I think by just being a mentor. I know at some points I just need someone to talk to. By having conversations allows for probing questions and in result allows for reflection. #edtech207
A8: I said something similar in my last reply, but ever since my freshman year of college my professors have stressed self-reflection. It is important as teachers that we recognize what works well and what does not work in our classrooms. #edtech207
A8 Daily journals reflecting on way went well and what didn’t. Think out loud to a colleague. Record yourself in a lesson. Practice what you preach and set your own goals! Take care of yourself. #edtech207
#edtech207 A6. Pre-service teachers and new educators often have at least a 5 year age gap between the two. With this there are great resources the mentor teacher may use daily that the pre-service student has never heard of and vise -versa
A8: This is a hard one as my reflection has always been a private thing - but I agree we should talk about it. I journal every afternoon - old school in a written book. I've also been doing microblogging on twitter this year. #EdTech207https://t.co/S0xvXrnPCj
#edtech207 A8: We practice reflection here at Husson! I think seeing a model of how practicing teachers actually reflect on their teaching would be SO helpful. We kind of just get told to reflect but have never seen true reflections!
A8: Reflection is key!! The best way that i’ve been shown how to reflect is really through observation. In my clinical experience, my mentor would write down (at the end of each school day) what went well and what didn’t work well, and come up with ways to improve! #EdTech207
#EdTech207 I think we always need to be honest with ourselves as teachers and know that it is okay to have bad days, we just need to self-assess and learn from those days!
A7 We pre-service teachers are encouraged to take risks when we are told things like, "Success comes from failure" or "Reflection is a key part of instruction". This way we learn from our mistakes and get better! #edtech207
A8 I also feel like my #ed307 is a bit of a slow burner of a class, that by the time they meet with me to go over the portfolio, it’s clicked but takes a while to gain traction. #EdTech207 Student teachers def feel it a year out from my class
A8 I always liked the informal convo after school where we wanted to chat with fellow teachers in the hallway. 2 weeks ago I found myself still at school on a Friday at 5pm sharing ideas with @Jennyg2323 and two others! Great ideas and #eduinsight#edtech207#PBL
A8. Sit. Talk. Be human. Listen. Be vulnerable. Share. I LOVE that every Thursday afternoon a handful of our newer colleagues hang w me & the kids of Geek Meet in #SICMBC; we usually end up talking about teaching at some point & I own all my wonky #edtech207
A8 Sometimes it feels like a big risk, but I ask students - "what did you think of that class?" - or something similar. The feedback when I open the door to conversation is AWESOME. #edtech207
I "stole" the idea from an "Artsy" colleague and the book "The Innovators Mindset" our OHS summer read. (I'm advocating for "Intention: Critical Creativity in the Classroom" by @WickedDecent for summer 2019.) #EdTech207
A8 - Talk about failing up in team meetings. I'm constantly tweaking lessons/projects before presenting to the next group. Being open and honest about this is key! #edtech207
