-
Best part of summer was presenting to thousands about in Texas
-
So... - would you say the crowds were bigger in Texas due to the relative size of the state or your boyish charm?
-
Are you choosing our chat over your wife's chat, ...? Awkward.
-
My summer was all about PD! I led 6 trainings for 110+ educators from 20+ schools. LOVE it. AVMR trainings are the best
-
A2 Attended Conference in Milwaukee - so much great stuff. Legos w , Media Tips from …
-
A2 Teaching class for UWGB forced me to design new tech lessons
-
Awesome, - ROCKSTAR STATUS ACHIEVED.
-
Very nice questions... I am not giving any answers to that one...
-
A2 I was with 175 educators at DENSI with I learned so much from everyone there, made some global connections.
-
Amateur mistake, I forgot the hashtag Great time to point out Twitter's new feature of being able to retw… https://t.co/n3pceYLXSU
-
-
A2: Just some reading. The best...What Connected Educators Do Differently. Biggest takeaway is that teachers are no… https://t.co/WuDQliDHTZ
-
Look at teaching us all WHILST joining in the chat! I'll have to check out the book - thanks for the recommendation.
-
I loved going to this summer. I would highly recommend you get your tickets early this year... It is going to be a big!
-
Ignorant question, - where is DENSI held? Help a brother out!
-
I think I missed the link to the questions. Could you please repost? Thanks!
-
Sure! Q2 What PD did you attend this summer? What was your biggest takeaway?
-
-
What if I know how to blackmail the event organizer, ? Still book early or no?!
-
A3 watching 3rd graders create video interviews of teachers and doing it themselves.
-
A3 Teachers already have great ideas - excited to work with them to make ideas a reality.
-
. Ah, nice! Good to know. I thought it was rotating, but was not quite sure.
-
Love to have you come for summer spark!
-
I want in again and again-- epic experience
-
A3 I love working with my amazing partner in crime , plus Red Smith has a makerspace room to create this year!!!
-
A3: the my students created this year from
-
A3 - Working at ONE school this year!! It's been so great forming relationships with the kids and seeing them more consistently.
-
Just requested to follow her, - thanks for the tip! I'll have to check out the Maker room sometime.
-
-
Can you tell me a bit more about these , ?
-
A2 Listened to a lot of webinars, read some professional books, and taught at the GBAPS Summer Learning Academy.
-
A3 Knowing how to get to my schools w/o my GPS and collaborating with the amazing teachers
-
A3 Being back in the saddle after many years, looking at my practices thru new eyes.
-
A3: The willingness of students to try new things at the beginning of the year. Need my teachers to keep up that student spirit.
-
Oh, did not know that, - nice! That's gotta be slick - congrats!
-
-
-
4A Organizing and implementing all of the ideas people shared w me over the summer. TOO MUCH AWESOME. CANNOT MANAGE IT ALL.
-
4A: Doing it all for the 10th time and remembering that it is their first time! Keeping it fresh and fun!
-
I think this is a hashtag just DYING for a chat, eh ?
-
A4: being the guy who has to do it all including and I feel very pulled
-
A4a: Continue to always add new & change class to have students create instead of me show.
-
A4a Passwords! Bane of my existence. Especially for 6th graders to figure out, and then throw STAR in. Major confusion for all.
-
-
-
This one is about how we see it... Perception = reality...
-
4B - Turn a unit on its head for YOUR sake. Complacency is the silent killer in education!
-
-
I agree with about the STAR
-
4B - Set a schedule for each part of your life, then reward yourself when you crush one ahead of schedule.
-
love the reflection- always need to take pause to check in on own progress and growth
-
-
A4 Time, I want to collaborate with the Ts and finding the planning time is tough when I'm at 2 schools.
-
-
4B add things to your to-do list that you've already done just so you get to cross them off! Helps tackle more!
-
-
the schedule I have done but rewards... that's a bit hard
-
Great idea, - I just started using Gmail's Task list... maybe I can add them to it!
-
- would it be better not require the reset for 6th graders?
-
Yeah, so... I never get to the "rewards" part because I am never ahead of schedule, - heh!
-
I did get ahead on my ELA class.
-
-
-
-
oh man, where is the dislike button when you need it?
-
-
we did it for spring break and enjoyed it--
-
No, it's good they change, they just never did it before and don't get diff between network and google and STAR.
-
A5: hope for my to get funded soon to bring more to my Ss
-
Raquel Rand, in late but here for and
-
Soon, the difference in network and Google will be gone! That's why we went to longer network passwords this year.
-
Shoutout to our very own for writing the questions for tonight too! Kudos to for making them pretty!
-
-
A5 connect with Ts to create integration opportunities with ss that I am so busy I don't have time for email just awesomness
-
Making global connections. Using my connections I made at DENSI to connect classrooms.
-
and fortunately caught the mishap of Q5 - guess we got our 1 mistake for year overwith
-
A5 More games, more games, more games! I just Kickstarted about 4-5 educational games I think could be used in the classroom!
-
love global connections- author skype but also connect to classrooms - we did penpal videos w/ss
-
We ALWAYS need to make time for AWESOME, no matter our role in the district! Good goal,
-
That will be awesome! We made all 6th grade have same passwords for both already, so hopefully make it seamless.
-
-
Cannot agree with more - Global Connections are a MUST for our students in this day & age. https://t.co/izRcx0sdJM
-
-
Making global connections. Using my connections I made at DENSI to connect classrooms.
-
guess better way to put it is to not let the other stuff get in the way of awesomeness
-
A6: to start my research and have my full license and PhD this spring
-
A6 - Simple goal - finish reading Harry Potter. Just need time and persistance to get through them. Received 4-7 today!
-
And now it is so easy to do with Google docs and hangouts. I want to connect to the people I met from the UK.
-
Awesome, - what are you focusing on?
-
Sorry friends, I need to bow out a bit early. Great to have you back in my weekly lineup and great to connect with you all again.
-
instruction tech in curriculum
-
Oh hey, it's our favorite out of them all! Welcome man!
-
A6 - Complex goal - figuring how to marry Papert with Hattie and explore how we can introduce more creativity in our classes
-
A6 personal goal is definitely get in better shape and put balance in my life- faith, family, me, work - priorities!
-
yes our favorite one here in this chat at this particular moment - yeah great compliment Jon
-
-
Hey, - it's going to be hard to marry those two with Papert's passing! And probably unethical/illegal too!
-
I am a fan of it- but more important creating memorable experiences - Life Changing lessons
-
A6 - We are working on defining our "Wildly Important Goals" aka WIGs to keep the whirlwind of everyday tasks from distracting.
-
-
not much we are almost done solving all the world's problems--
-
A5 Work with more teachers, get Makerspace room going, attain maker gadgets/supplies, and reflect on lessons to make better.
-
I always thought you would benefit from a WIG.
-
How are you going about that? I know sometimes I get lost in the minutia details of each day
-
-
As always, - it is awesome having you aboard. Hopefully see you in two weeks! How did your go???
-
A7 Getting lost in the little details of day to day tasks.
-
Also, really weird Harry Potter coincidence, - I am also just about to start Book 4. Whaa???
-
I could use some solid advice for this too
-
A7: trying to everything I need a better balance
-
A7: Paperwork. I would rather spend my time creating engaging lessons & activities for my students.
-
A7 my own preconceived notions of how things are "supposed" to be.
-
A6: Personal goal: continue getting up early to exercise. Professional goal: keep stretching myself as a learner & model to my Ss.
-
A7 Losing focus - I keep going in twenty different directions between personal projects, teaching, education, etc.
-
Harry is the best! I am on book 4 with my 8 yr old and it is so fun to see his reactions.
-
Hi all! Better late than never...
-
Hello! Tina from Milton. My goal this yr: personalized learning in reading class. Attending a workshop to improve my skills.
-
We are trying to get up early to exercise too, - it is ROUGH, but worth it! I feel so much better heading to work after.
-
Oh hey, ! Great to see you! How are things at ?
-
Hey friends! Sorry i'm late a7 time! To reflect I feel like it's just go go go
-
-
-
I'm trying to get to this defense of proposal & getting closer do feel so many classmates are getting it done
-
I know the feeling- my afternoon was craziness-- - great to see you
-
A8: because you will find the awesomeness in yourself
-
-
love that our leadership team does book studies
-
The key is to have a small # of WIGs and to filter everything through them. Everything you do must serve the WIG
-
So you're saying it's not just me, ? That's a relief.
But yeah, we should work on that, heh.
-
Heading to bed. Night all
-
my apologize my computer is not cooperating- sooo slow tonight-- posting is like watching paint dry
-
A8 because we will become partners in learning....we will inspire be curious & want 2 make a difference
-
What if the "winds of change" in your organization blow the WIG off track? How do you readjust the WIG properly?
-
A8: The same reasons I'm going to let YOU teach me.
-
Or perhaps watching an image of paint attempt to load on a screen, ? Hiyooo!
-
-
Always a pleasure to have you, - best of luck with the dissertation! Crush it!
-
A8 I know you (the student) have lots of potential and can't wait to help you reach it! I believe in you!
-
-
Q8:Great question!Why?Because I am a passionate teacher who will strive to help U become a better person & and a life-long learner.
-
A8 We were meant to go on this crazy ride this semester together. Keep all hands inside the moving vehicle at all times.
