Welcome to #EduAR! We will have a Q1/A1 format, but tonight’s questions are actually promise statements that all schools should be able to state. We will use the statements to stretch our thinking and reflect.
Hello #EduAR I'm Sandy- an instructional coach from West Jordan, Utah
I'm so glad that you're back! Hope you've all had a great start to another school year! @bethhill2829@nortnik@Lindsey_Bohler

Q1 again!
“It does not matter which teacher your child has at our school. If your child needs extra time and support to learn at high levels, we guarantee he or she will receive it.”
#EduAR
A1: Learning should have no time limits. If that were so I’d have no drivers license and I would have given up on the Praxis. We promise that learning will always trump time. #EduAR
Q1 again!

Your son/daughter is a precious gift 🎁. My #MoralImperative drives me to build a trusting relationship that will extend beyond the school day, that will help guide them on their journey to accomplish their goals. #EduAr
That's right! It requires us to check ourselves at the door, admit when we need help, and tap into the strengths of others. We all need coaching and mentoring. #EduAR
At our school, we have the unique opportunity to have a PLC every day. We collaborate and support each other to help all kids learn at high levels. We don't work in isolation. #bettertogether#eduAR

Q2 again!
“It does not matter which teacher your child has at our school, because our classrooms are equitable in how we build relationships and teach our kids. They will receive the same quality education.
They are unique, but equitable.”
#EduAR
A2. We treat our kids “as if they were our own kids” - high expectations but with support, positivity, kindness and that each day is about making it better. #eduAR
A1: It's all about those all-important relationships that teachers build with their students. Relationships first. Courtesy of my friend @TopDogTeaching#EduAR
A2: Equitable does not mean they are the same. We're building relationships & teaching...but with so many different strengths, practices & personalities. #EduAR
A2: We should collaborate through common plan times, analyze data by grade level and across the building to look for needs in instruction/curriculum, and work together to engage students deeply into the standards. #EduAR

A3: Parents know their children better than anyone. We need to be able to create a relationship with them and work together, as a team, for what's best for their child. #EduAR
A3: I think we all agree that making every family feel welcomed and heard is a priority, but creating an environment that fosters and facilitates this takes effort and intentionality! It doesn't just happen. #eduAR
A2: Learning will be personalized and all children will experience success. Success doesn’t discriminate based on learning styles or disabilities...ALL CHILDREN will experience success and growth. #EduAR
A3: Every family - Every child will be celebrated for their uniqueness and individuality. Every child’s passion will be discovered and their gifts unwrapped. Every child will be allowed to showcase their God given talents in their learning. #EduAr
You guys have some amazing thoughts tonight! These promises are TOUGH...a clear and compelling vision for communication, teaching and learning, accountability, and culture are paramount. #EduAR

A4. We recognize that if we don’t meet a child’s SEL needs then academic needs will not happen; we have “Flex time” every day for every kid (30 min of well being) #eduAR
A2) We are not just teachers of content, we are teachers of children. In this building, we hold each other accountable for the success of all students despite the teacher assignment. #EduAr

A4: Each student at SHS has an advisor that they meet with each week to ensure that they are connecting with at least one staff member in the building. #EduAR
In each of our staff rooms is a poster with every child’s name and a place for each teacher to put a check in a box. I know this child? I know their passion? I know something personal about this child? The real - no child left behind. #EduAr
Your child’s emotional well-being is more important to us. Children won’t learn at high levels with trauma and anxiety on their hearts and minds. #EduAr
I need to do a better job of helping not just kids - but staff - feel connected and valued. Thousand tasks for admin to do but I need to do better taking care of my teachers too. #eduAR
A5: The last one about a child's well-being. I have always believed this about teaching. After meeting @SporLin , he gave it a name for me: Trauma-Informed/Trauma-Responsive. We are charged with meeting a child where they are and moving forward WITH them! #EduAR

Thanks for this chat tonight @bethhill2829. My summary - Every child needs connection. This is the most important gift we can give our students and we must do it every single day. Have a good night #eduAR
I may have an 8 X 10 of the two of us, at a conference this spring, on the shelf in my office. 🥰 He's an amazing man, changing the lives of our struggling students each day. #eduAR
