  • emilyfranESL Jun 30 @ 9:10 AM EDT
A1: Be Intentional when pulling groups. Just because they are all struggling doesn’t mean everyone gets the same support. I’ve found myself differentiating during small-groups as well...BECAUSE of intentionality #BookCampPD
  • Hahne_Elyse Jun 30 @ 9:10 AM EDT
A1 I love being able to scaffold and differentiate on the spot. It’s a lot more dynamic and supportive in small group too. #BookCampPD

  • pattyvreilly Jun 30 @ 9:11 AM EDT

A1: my small group in reading was a safe place where my struggling learners could find their voice and know it was ok to “not know yet.” A couple went from so very shy to confident learners. One became a peer tutor 😃 #BookCampPD
  • carlameyrink Jun 30 @ 9:11 AM EDT
So true - the Ss who are afraid to speak up in a whole class setting, often feel more secure in a small group. #bookcampPD

A2. Accessing and sharing the checklists (pages 158 - 178) would help in keeping record-keeping manageable. If a PLC team discusses and jointly decides to use common one's, monitoring progress of growth can be much easier. #BookCampPD

A4. Do you know if very many educators use the resources that are mentioned before the introduction pages in the book? I wonder which one's they access the most? #BookCampPD

A3 I found that after spending hours giving feedback on drafts most Ss ignored it. When I flipped my feedback, their writing improved drastically (ALL of them). https://t.co/cNQ30RmjkE #BookCampPD

A3: I did a lot of scaffolding with my struggling writers. I chose books by certain authors so the Ss could relate and find writing about a topic less cumbersome. We also used guided writing #BookCampPD

As a scaffold or tool? Formula cards and post-it prompts are a great tool for math! Also, vary small groups according to purpose (pre teach, strategy lessons). #BookCampPD #SSLearners

A3 Learn about their struggles. If it’s just a fine motor/writing-utilize tech such as word predictive text, speech to text, or tech to assist. Checklists are great with visuals & examples assist many learners. #BookCampPD

A3 I’ve always valued the use of children’s books across levels to support Ss reading and writing processes. Complex reading/writing skills are always easier & motivating to tackle & achieve when presented through an interactive read aloud! #BookCampPD

A3: understand "what's getting in learner's way" & support w/visuals, kinesthetic, rubric, organizers, include tech (Flipgrid, google apps for edu). Allow Ss to respond in variety of ways to show understanding. #bookcamppd
