Hi all! any suggestions for a poll later on in the chat? :)
hi, Kerry in not-so sunny Bournemouth
Hi Sian! Good to have you back in the chat!!
Going to work hard to keep up!
with the alleged sun in some of our areas, we might have a quieter night tonight! :)
Rachael from Manchester. Trainee at Edge Hill.
poll on favourite BBQ food - I'm hosting one at the weekend
I like to mix things up 😉
is it not continual learning? And everyone can learn something everyday ...
hello Simon! What you wearing tonight??
A1. I think changing ‘professional’ to ‘personal’ is what makes CPD relevant. If it’s personal, it’s matters!
It is and we can! Who do you learn from most, learners or teachers?
Hi Try to join for a little while. Just finished grading exams. And now I'm exhausted.
I think it depends on the situation. TBH I’ve learnt an enormous amount from Twitter - then had support to follow it up.
A1 to me it's the steps I take and choices I make to improve what I do and how I think.
finding the right is the key I think. Only really started engaging with computer science since joining in the chat.
Hi Ines! Thanks for joining us after all that work!! Hope they all fit in a bell curve! :P
both but learning from learners is powerful- this impacts on how we teach best
A2 hashtags has been the easiest way for me
A1: Continuous = should be normal for teachers. Teaching new content, 4 future - that's the core.
Follow people who you know are leaders in the field.
A2. If you read a research paper on a topic of interest be sure to check if the author is on Twitter!! is one to follow!
you’ve got to figure that out first though…
hadn’t thought of that one. *blushes*
A2: fit research: use hashtags, follow ppl, use lists, join Edchats, connect, collaborate, ask. Like in real life
Any tips for finding the leaders in education on Twitter?
A2: topic themed chats. Learn lots from catching up on chat threads even after the event if I've missed it.
A2) By following tweets from my , through THE search field in & by using my secret tool <===> https://t.co/QQYfggB6u1
What themed chats would you recommend Kerry?
I have looked for people that have cropped up repeatedly in my reading - but often they’re not on.
A2 Link below may be useful
Using Twitter in university research, teaching, and impact activities https://t.co/554fIOdCLg
I think you just spot them as they are popular in your PLN so plenty of RT of their bits.
I’ve no idea! I’m assuming it is something to do with scamming?
A3 I don't know! I click and hope 😳
lots of great ideas from also been great support for our school wellbeing drive.
A3) To check of the security of links and documents use <===> https://t.co/73TRCkhaIv <===> YOU will find the address on my ;)
aww that's no good! Your poor onesie must feel so neglected 😉
A2. Clickbait: when a tweeter wants people to go to a certain page & creates a sensational tweet & link! May not be related!
and of course Great questions tonight, David!
thank you! Lucky shot though! You'd never know it was me in real life 😊
Thanks Kerry! Our team & are awesome behind the scenes as well as here!
thanks - that’s gone straight on the bookmarks bar :)
what's a 'sensational tweet' ?? I want to be a sensational tweeter!
Hi, David. Carol ELA Consultant from Long Island, NY 4:27 pm EST
A2. Use the hashtag e.g. I use to research Game Based Learning
In this context, think Daily Mail! Gets people to click!
Twitter-continual learning place.Learned new tech tools & discussed edu topics 2 broaden knowledge.
Hi Carol! Great to hav a twitter edu celeb here for ! For our chat members, I’d highly recommend following !
transcripts of edu chats are available to review if a chat is missed. A2
David, you are too kind. I love chatting with other edus so we can all learn from each other.
Great to see resources being shared so freely! It’s a great model to take into our education environments!
I don't know whatclickbait is either.
chat can be so fast paced - on certain topics of interest I don't like to miss any gems! Catch up is great!
Hi Carol, so glad you could join us!
Thanks for sharing Gust! Hope you're well!
A2 yes, for music education try or
A4 - never heard of one of these either?
Thanks for sharing Sian ☺
Kerry, oftentimes side bar conversations are just as intriguing as keeping up w/ threaded conversation.
A4 I'm thinking Hansel and Gretel so some thing to do with finding your way??
tweeter creates content + link to bring you to a specific web page! content may not be related -baits you into clicking!
lists can help prevent getting side tracked but it's easy to get off topic!
Thanks Sian, will add to my list ☺
side bar is a 1-1 conversation.
A4. A breadcrumb trail allows you to find your way back to where your search started! No harm getting lost now and then though! :D
*stupid question alert* what/where is the sidebar?
Yes, side chats-chats that take place betwn specific people while the main chat is still happening.
Thanks for the explanation, David.
getting lost = great adventures! You never know what/who you can find along the way 😊
Thanks Shay, that is exactly it! Don’t forget to add to share it with our members! :) https://t.co/vkL6amXtEO
A3 ? Links/descriptors which may lead users to specific/undesirable sites? A this you need good secu system and sens https://t.co/ltBHzYkBvK
Hi Simon :) Everything in the green ;)
Rachel answered your Q. Check it out.
, so is this classed as a side chat?
On the contrary, thank you. 😀
I’ve a long way to go before I get there! hahaha
I would say yes. We are chatting while the convo is going on.
A5. Add a link to your research in a blog! Or add bite-sized chunks of your most important/interesting findings!
