#aussieED Archive
#aussieED was founded on the belief that all teachers, and students, should have unlimited access to Professional Development, on their own terms, to improve their teaching, their schools and change the lives of the students they encounter. Since then, we have embarked on a mission to reach educators, not only in Australia but, all around the globe. We want to smash the barriers that prevent teachers from easily connecting and learning with each other. To that end, we have developed a regular Ed-chat each Sunday on twitter at #aussieED. The chat allows all teachers, leaders, administrators and all those connected with education to meet on an unbiased platform and discuss the real issues that effect what happens in classrooms everywhere. Our chats are authentic because we are real teachers walking the same walk that so many do everyday.

Hi Karen from Bowen North Queensland. Part of the Tech Brekkie team.
A1: Using technology without following a step by step process. Maybe it's best described as figuring things out as you go.
Good morning from NJ, USA! I'm very excited about today's topic, ! Looking forward to learning with all of you. .
A1. Making meaning and developing levels of understanding of and with technology.
Brian from Sydney, buried in reporting & excited that came 2nd. flying the flag for us at
Hey everyone, Scott here from Sydney
A1. Understanding the journey of the design of Technology over the past 500 years in order to use it globally & empathetical!
A1 Tech Literacy ? more than just the using the language - but understanding it as well. Not 100% sure. Hope to see some good ans.
A1 An ability to use tech to create, communicate and collaborate effectively. It exists on a continuum, you can always improve.
Hi, Tam from North QLD. Looking forward to watching all of your Ditty videos tonight. :)
Nice post Ashley, love the meaning reference. A1
Hi, Anna here, knee deep in paper!
A1 understanding of all things technology. Something I am still
A1: The ability to glean information for application through technology & the ability to navigate and demonstrate knowledge .
Hey Eric! Happy Sunday. :)
I LOVE HER! I know you 2 had a great time!
Hello! Dina from Adl. Will be in & out, as it's dinner time
Great question. I think it means we can use tech 2 communicate w/ others, dev meaning & create new ideas
A1 To me TL means being able to use, learn from and engage with multiple electronic devices, platforms, languages
That's the key... Using technology to connect humanity and build empathy https://t.co/bbRwnj6OcC
A1. Understanding the journey of the design of Technology over the past 500 years in order to use it globally & empathetical!
A1 tech literacy is knowing the tools. Fluency is knowing what to do with them. That's where it's at
Nigel from Sydney A1 - A disposition towards and capacity for the effective use of technology towards a goal
A1. Using technology to do more than consume, more importantly create!
Todd from NY, USA- HS Assistant Principal 😊
Hi there, Rox from Melbourne. Feeling like I haven't stopped this weekend and on an interview panel starting at 8am tomorrow!
Nice Eric and hopefully students grow their own literacy independence. A1
Nice Eric and hopefully students grow their own literacy independence. A1
Hi Sian from Wales. A1 Is technological literacy the ability to select and apply technology in everyday life?
A1 People who are Tech Literate are usually able to be intuitive when encountering new tech.
Absolutely! https://t.co/aGchHRabbI
That's the key... Using technology to connect humanity and build empathy https://t.co/bbRwnj6OcC
A1. Understanding the journey of the design of Technology over the past 500 years in order to use it globally & empathetical!
Hey Jonathon...making my first cup of morning coffee now! :)
good evening Rizza here from Philippines
it is the understanding of how integrate technology into everyday life
Thank you! This is a great Q to work to answer...hard to do it in 140!
Hello Shawn from the US joining in
you'll have to get your lovely wife to join in too one week!
A1: Ability 2 use technology 2 communicate, problem solve, learn, create
A1: to find the on switch and use tech to help your way through the world without throwing stuff
A1: Could it be the ability to understand and use technology most appropriate to the task?
A1 Tech Literacy - the thinking, understanding and effective use of technology..
haha... love it... always believe Wikipedia! must be true! now to get that EU passport!
Love the early international flavour of tonight... This is an issue all teachers are facing https://t.co/c8iKNjt6AE
good evening Rizza here from Philippines
A1) I think it's using tech to create, solve probl. Innovate, research, to acquire life long knowledge, skills in the 21st century
Including making them technology literate!
.A1Could it be understdng & performing (being literate in ) technology? No idea, haven't really heard that term put that way before
So agree Brian. At my school, I watch for how much is leaving my school rather than entering! A1
Q2 Some claim that 'ALL' future jobs will require 'Technological Literacy', will this impact curriculum? https://t.co/PQRiwoLjiC
A1 technological literacy is the ability to access technological tools and learn their functions and capabilities
A1 - Am thinking tech literacy is to do with the skills, knowledge... How you put it all together
Please new ed to twitter. Show her some love!
Boom! Maybe since we've kept the Union Jack on flag, we can come too!
LOL! Love the last 3 words..."saved for students." Your priorities are spot on and I love it! :)
Australia did so well because it was mistaken for its European dopelganger, Austria! It fooled them!
A1. Using technology as tool for learning, communication and engagement for 21st century life.
hi Technology Literacy is a very interesting question. How many teachers do Computational thinking?
#1945 Let's face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people it does for me.- Hepburn
https://t.co/ETIYNQ9oSB
A2. I think it already has with ICTs now being a general capability across the curriculum.
That's the constant battle https://t.co/G4XF69lYec
Thank you! This is a great Q to work to answer...hard to do it in 140!
Dear please take 5min to complete this short survey about edu professional reads https://t.co/4oUo0kaqk3 will publish soon for all
A1 The ability to use technology to promote meaningful learning
A1: the skills needed to navigate through and communicate successfully using technology.
A1 Technologically literate people communicate, collaborate and create seamlessly between using tech and not using it.
A1: It doesn’t mean giving the students a device and saying that they used it for a lesson! There is much more to being digi!
Multi- tasking Eurovision playback (Dami on next) + A1 Techno Literacy - Swedish house Mafia? Really see
A1- TL is knowing the tools and how best to use them for your Ss
Always good to have you join
A1 Use Tech responsibly/appropriately/effectively to access/manage/evaluate/create/improve Sts learning https://t.co/rTWApXsQ5e
I think many are beginning to attempt to but many are unsure what it actually means.
A1: "Technological Literacy" is knowing how tech works, when to use it, & why. It's about purposeful & meaningful application..
Hi everyone. Chris from Young via Kellyville. Enjoying a few weeks break with family.
curriculum is a policy technology is a tool
A2 Even as a maths Tchr, i understand that Literacy is important no matter what the word is in front of ....literacy.
a2 TL will have a major impact on curriculum - how do we say "this is what you need to know" when Ss can learn anything they want
I’ve seen that too many times…
shared an excellent blog by Kate Baker earlier
A2: Yes, curriculum should be impacted now but we must always remember....Curriculum drives technology.
A2 Dig ped has made a huge impact on curric. The fact we now participate in chats like this prove the influence it has!
A2: It should. But are we talking functional literacy (basic ability to use) or something more? I'd go with something more.
A1 It's digital literacy hand in hand with citizenship. So not just knowing how 2use tech but how to do it ethically
A1 Seems to me that literacy in anything is emerging as "competent to engage"
A2. Will it? Don't know! Should it? Absolutely it does in my classroom!
A2 - When the distinction between digital skills and digital literacy is clearly understood, then we can address the curriculum
A2: I think classrooms should reflect the "real world". Tech should be available for T & S to teach & demonstrate knowledge.
A1 - TL is my 12 year old showing me how to make JPEG for Twitter using Powerpoint : )
it is for the better but we should not use technology when pen and paper could do the job
that and its really not that simple to do for those of us set in our ways.
In a technological driven world should curriculum mirror it? https://t.co/vn9HtDw6xU
curriculum is a policy technology is a tool
A2 Will technological literacy not have an underlying impact on all areas of the curriculum?
A1. Using digital tools effectively to create, evaluate and communicate.
A2: tech. lit will impact all parts of many https://t.co/rH1CKkGvr2 literacy isn't isolated to one discipline-it cuts across all.
A2. Computational thinking embedded in subjects
A2 It should already be! Shouldn't be waiting to see if it's true.
A2 the #1 area IMO will be assessment, we can't keep asking Yr12 students to write on paper for 3hrs to prepare for real world
A2 - It does already - isn't that what STEM is all about?
A2 Every subject at every level, we now have every student 2 times fornightly learning tech literacy/citizenship, so important.
A2 its already a general curricular concept. biggest impact will b teachers knowin how 2 integrate it in their practise
A2: technology literacy in work place already has affected us: 1:1, Blended learning, , etc.
A1 tech is knowing how tech impacts our Teaching an learning in a + way
:"will this?" In NZ, all exams are going to online by it is planned 2020. Big challenge! A2
Yes. It's more than just knowing about the tools, it's knowing how they work and why/when it's best to use them.
My yr 12s asked me why I make them collaborate on everything except tests! Fair point!!
A2 I believe we should help sts become digitally literate. But I'm not sure "because u need it for a job" is the right motivation.
Aw man how is it Q2 already? Come on brain, focus!
A2: There are so many aspects, from online curriculum to flipped learning, to coding and more. It is not assumed, it’s happening!
A2 Very few jobs currently exist that don't use tech, the future will only hold greater expectations https://t.co/lVXs62kvKK
Q2 Some claim that 'ALL' future jobs will require 'Technological Literacy', will this impact curriculum? https://t.co/PQRiwoLjiC
For me, being technologically literate means having a range of tools for communication, conversation, curation & creation
A2 the ability to create, problem solve and collaborate
or "need it for college" - i think it has to be - "this will help you learn"
A2 The long term changes could be a shift away from much of what we take for granted, writing? maths? Shift towards 4Cs.
That's why I dislike BYOD, doesn't mention pedagogy/learning. Devices less important than both. tech just a tool.
A1 Sounds like a meaningless term made up by people selling something to me...
And constant opportunity! A true non-Google-able Q. Don't ya love it?
A1 Ability 2 decode, effectively use on all levels Ћ digital information &tools that u want 2 create with. As with trad literacy
is now trending in USA, ranking 19
For me, blogging, tweeting, backchannels, discussion forums & MOOCs are learning, reflective & collaborative spaces
A2b the impact of curriculum will require all subjects to embrace the 4Cs and ICT in combination https://t.co/lVXs62kvKK
Q2 Some claim that 'ALL' future jobs will require 'Technological Literacy', will this impact curriculum? https://t.co/PQRiwoLjiC
A1 Technical literacy is seeing the challenges of new ideas as a chance for adventure. It should apply to allaspects of our lives.
A2. What I would love to see is chats like this for students! Possibly curriculum themed
A2 - I don't think there is any part of the curric that doesn't require some kind of tech. Whether research, representing data...
A1: the ability to use ICTs to communicate, collaborate, create and think critically
A2 In a ubiquitous way across all areas. Tech in schools has always been behind industry and the kids.Focus on pedagogy
A1: Being able to use technology to function on a daily basis within the requirements of society
How about collaborative assignments like PBL? https://t.co/VcmZWGCcah
My yr 12s asked me why I make them collaborate on everything except tests! Fair point!!
Agreed. I see it as a way of cost cutting to a degree, along with personalisation, but is it really?
A2. Engaging teachers in Australia wide education on how to implement in the classroom is still critical!!!
great answer! I wish I could communicate it like you just did! thats the beauty of the twitterverse
.A2 In ALL areas.eg I use it in PE.Ss video other Ss swimming etc to show thm so that they can improve or celebrate achievement
Nice John, it means our students can thrive not just survive in society. A1
A2 maths curriculum needs to include a greater focus on statistics & data particularly how to interpret critically
A2: I only teach maths, we have some spreadsheet stuff in the cm. However we use tech for the entire course
Agreed. Motivation is the excellent student engagement from using technology in the classroom.
As a new-ish teacher in reporting season, where do we get time to fit this in?
yes this isn't a motivator at all - This already occurs with the expectation on Ss to complete maths/science units
A2: For Ss to become literate in the use of technology (& all resources) we need to share the responsibility across all subjects.
yep, literacy is literacy - whate ever word is put infront of it..
check out - he talks about two more Cs - connecting & usng comp applications to solve problems
A2: thankfully the curriculum has already been impacted. Now to get all on board
A2) Ss can be competent w/tech – able to use, & still not understand it in a broader context, just using software is not enough
For me, tech is iPads & apps, books & crayons, Twitter & telephone, Voxer & Zoom & Blab, podcasts & vodcasts, pens & paper & LEGO.
I mumbled something to myself and walked out the door!
A2: tech should be a vehicle for learning but not always the focus? Curric needs tech in balance with everything else
I so agree. This year, our whole digital PD focus is on learning and not the devices. Personalisation is hard!
Q2 It should impact curriculum. Not only from the tools we use but in equipping our kids to create digital platforms
A2. Every classroom in Australia should be flipped by now! Are they?
If I become more digitally literate, will it help me close the 25 open windows I have going at the moment, or not?
Looks like we have a few teachers from the US joining us today https://t.co/qMhT9L5PlP
is now trending in USA, ranking 19
A1.1: Technological Literacy- The language of abiotic things utilised by humans as tools (Web of thoughts might change this)
A2 The impact is everywhere, however schools need an intentional educational policy in order to really make technology effective
A1 The problem with the literacy lens for technology (& anything really) is it discounts study of ethics, implications and history
that would be hard, testing is such an individual thing, should do away with them ;)
Shame, Only at school are you not allowed/expected to use every resource at your disposal.
I agree, just one option, use must be fit-for-purpose. A2
A2. I am hoping that technology use does increase in our schools to a point. Students need to be effective without it also.
I was just about to question whether tech means less PE but you made my question unnecessary.
ah cool. Great to connect with you Bernadette!
A2. Instead of traditional homework, participate in a twitter chat based on the curriculum
Almost all my food projects require collaboration. Almost everything except the tests...
Almost all my food projects require collaboration. Almost everything except the tests...
The general capabilities should be driving curriculum, not content. Tech Literacy is front and centre! https://t.co/G0EVzl0zNe
and a pencil is still technology... As is a book!
Personalized learning is much easier with computer-graded formative assessments
The fact that we keep calling it 'technology' shows it is not embedded into practice and everything we do
Deborah! I'm so happy to "meet" you here today.
I feel the same way. Digital or analog, tools are tools.
Indeed. The better we know its power to collaborate in everyday life the + we can maximise its potential https://t.co/o8HA5In9hd
A2 I believe we should help sts become digitally literate. But I'm not sure "because u need it for a job" is the right motivation.
Great answer Brevity is the spice of wit!
Great answer Brevity is the spice of wit!
Love this! https://t.co/JZ7uC3BJgo
A2. Instead of traditional homework, participate in a twitter chat based on the curriculum
A2. Every parent and every student should know what they are learning every day! Do they?
i agree...sadly. How are teachers (and some admin) still doing this?
A3 I'd have my students meet with and his crew - these guys are creating the future now! Amazing vision and achieving it
All of our students have a laptop which many use lesson by lesson as work book as well as for other tools. https://t.co/rcZSQFV5T7
Q2 Some claim that 'ALL' future jobs will require 'Technological Literacy', will this impact curriculum? https://t.co/PQRiwoLjiC
A2 I take a look at my own learning & how tech lit furthers me then work to transfer those skills & pass them on to others.
A2- must be across curriculum cos Ss today will need 2b creative & flexible 2 deal ever-changing way of life
totally agree but how many times asked staff to view something before a meeting/workshop and it doesn't happen
Want quality extension/challenge activities for your class? Try using a classroom challenge jar https://t.co/qRLyLOie96
Woops I was using my personal account Talk about technological literacy lol
Yes and our mind is our greatest tool and always will be, this need to be remembered!
A3 The maker movement holds promise. Love the idea of creative, uninterrupted, out of the box learning
I am sure that it is, but…
A1. Literacy is read & write. is input & output. Something is happening behind the screen & what to manage in front of it
A3. Greater access to PD opportunities for rural educators. That is without begging or taking long service. Just saying...
Where does this leave schools with minimum hardware to drive digital literacy?
Requires teachers to be current in their use of tech or the relevance gap will persist. Critical thinking skills!
I think this point is missed a lot. Pencils and books were technology once. Now they just... are.
A2 English curric it already has if we r truly complete C, D,& E then fulfil general capabilities. Need this in all KLA’s
A2: TL needed across the curriculum
A2 creative & critical problem solvers, sound communicators & collaborators needed for 'future work force' tech is just a tool
less than half of my students have access to ict that would make this possible. Soo no, not every class is flipped
Don't you hate it when Ss hit the nail on the head! 😄
To me Singapore is still my second home, Say hi to the MerLion for me https://t.co/M660pIUVOd
late to the party as I am out for dinner here in Singapore. But keen to peek in.
yup that's my job - Head of Religion. You should join our on last Weds of the month.
great idea - I do it to complement my PD why shouldn't Ss.
Absolutely agree! It's such a shame they get forgotten 😕
I agree Gerry, I think the key word is "formative", the less summative use of tech the better!
A2 Curriculum is an attempt to define (& teach) the canon of a domain, this is impossible when the domain constantly changes.
ooh thats a smart answer.. hadn't thought of it like that!
I guess each task has individual parts. Motivates teams though. If you don't do your part, my part looks bad...
This term we are teaching much of our maths with robots. Building understandings of geometry, algebra, data with high engagement
We still need the bath water!
This is the same question I keep coming back to! Will we be left behind?
a:2 Technological Literacy is a life skill, not a curriculum element. It should impact across all areas of curriculum
totally agree. Tech is an extension of the toolbox, not an end in itself, IMHO.
I know is keynoting a Rural Ed conference very soon https://t.co/9Ge3AHIusA
A3. Greater access to PD opportunities for rural educators. That is without begging or taking long service. Just saying...
I know what you're saying. We've spent heaps on Wi-Fi and can't afford devices for all students.
I know what you're saying. We've spent heaps on Wi-Fi and can't afford devices for all students.
Bandwidth a major challenge in regional areas. Equity issue!!
Tech allowed amazing thing to happen between myself & a class on the other side of the world. https://t.co/p1VnQtyRgk So amazing.
A2:Technology Literacy most certainly impact on curriculum, as employers will expect students r educated in this sphere
A2 Kids are much more TL than we give them credit for, and much less TL than we think!
Ts need support & Ћ language 2 add DL. Not all r skilled or they r & they just don’t know Ћ language that surrounds it.
Agreed, the best use is when it is just one of the tools, it gets out of the way and learning is the driver
A3: If funding weren't an issue, I would have S actually travel to the places we learn about. Make the world a smaller place.
Not sure. Maybe because some edu leaders are not yet "tech literate" themselves. It's still foreign to them.
I wonder how we can change that last piece?
A2 Technology changes so fast that it would be impossible to keep curriculums relevant. We need to inspire passion and creativity.
Many teacher remain stuck on the S of SAMR for ever!
A3 I think exploring the pedagogical implications of technology is the best environment for teacher development.
A2. you say future jobs and tech - don't all jobs need it now. I need it just to drive my car and get to my job.
One of the great ethical challenges of the 'Technological Revolution' https://t.co/5oIUWijzKT
Where does this leave schools with minimum hardware to drive digital literacy?
Word. More than 'a tool' or approach. https://t.co/KELS1nO5Ea
The fact that we keep calling it 'technology' shows it is not embedded into practice and everything we do
Even within my school, we have connectivity issues. Struggle to get mobile reception too
You have to have the devices and infrastructure before you can use tech. That’s all. :)
They say "new tools new paradigm" but they are wrong. It's "evolving tools evolving paradigm." https://t.co/rrQC9yCsL9
A2 Curriculum is an attempt to define (& teach) the canon of a domain, this is impossible when the domain constantly changes.
A3 I think we run the risk of teaching short term skills = instant gratification with tech, need more https://t.co/tPzmqwYqhu
yep, literacy is literacy - whate ever word is put infront of it..
agree yes - we use it sparingly in to enhance the outdoor learning, not to be the learning.
Can you fundraise to make that happen?
A2 It's not the technology itself but the way we use it to source information and make meaning that impacts curriculum & outcomes
A3: sometimes you have to go for it without the backing and deal with the f.a.i.l. We can all create the future -take the 1st step
I missed Q3! What was it?
We tell our Ts RMAS work in this order, don't start small!
still used as, and feels like, an add on for too many
A3: I wonder what the Ss would want? Are they savvy enough to know what they need? Maybe. That's my starting point!
A3 No limits!? Real-life projects/problems that students had to link with business to assist in solving. https://t.co/ZxVnD9gmC8
Q3- If you had the backing, what awesome 'future focused' learning experiences would you create? https://t.co/l3H8tLA1Zi
Last weekend I was at a conference. The transport industry may be the 1st to have employees become obsolete https://t.co/KjEhkRFJNn
A2. you say future jobs and tech - don't all jobs need it now. I need it just to drive my car and get to my job.
unless you're in a marginal seat here in Vic - you won't see any money to fund tech programs!
We have to fundraise just to get to the local zoo:)
Cost a major factor for those with poor coverage. Would love a larger Flip approach in 11/12.
A2. Technology literacy is not about using the latest, it is about educating kids to use the technology they have well!
I have become a big doubter of SAMR, too long for Ts to move to necessary R.
A2 Are we talking about discrete learning of ICT skills or use of technology to enhance learning across curriculum?
a3 - huge potential for learning with virtual reality- truly flattens the walls of our rooms
A3 For a start, completely throw out the mathematics curriculum.
A4 - computational thinking
A4 empathy, equity, respect, responsibility
This is when equity becomes such a big topic and one that needs addressing.
shared wisdom is awesome. Isn't that what we do here? No one has all the answers. Work together! Test together!
I think I won the challenge! what do I get? :P
A4 creativity, resilience, confidence and intrinsic feedback. Mind you these aren't exclusive to tech kids
A4 Reflection, analysis, curiosity, enthusiasm
A4 - responsibility/accountability
A4. Use the tool that best suits your learning
Blending is prac, some schools r more limited than others with tech re's. Need to think is A a better option than B bcs it's tech
Could this be why creative skills/problem solving needs to replace 'content' driven curriculum? https://t.co/AmRNG7RC7y
A2 Technology changes so fast that it would be impossible to keep curriculums relevant. We need to inspire passion and creativity.
A4. Create to communicate
A3 Encourage students to learn in existing online communities. eg immerse themselves in the youtube minecraft community.
A4 Not sure... but these come to mind - grit, determination, collaboration, mindful -
In daily practice, I try to talk to Ts about RESOURCES not TECH & share analog & digital options.
A4 Empathy, open mindedness, honesty and self confidence
In some study education ranked 49th out of 50 industries for its adoption of dig. tech. 50 was coal mining.
A4 Resilience, empathy, critical thinking, scepticism
A3: I would do more 2 help teachers revamp lessons & integrate tech. Curriculum mapping is important
A3 I would have primary Ss become entrepreneurs in their field of interest. Combine lit, maths, hist and FINANCIAL literacy
A4. Being able to sort the fact from fiction and opinion
A3: ones in which Ss and Ts worked side by side to solve real-life issues with the support of tech and curriculum.Shared learning.
A4. FAIL, resilience, patience, growth mindset all should be encouraged across the board to grow up as technologically literate.
A3: I would be using tech to get back to basics. How to grow food, look after country and keep our air, soil and water pure.
It was a quick pop-in . Have to go meet up on Zoom with & about our panel on Saturday.
A3 I'd develop a production company where students research & create plays/musicals/sketches abt historical events
A3 Replace NAPLAN with the ice bucket challenge.
A4 Curiosity; Questioning; Participation; Reflection
Well put. We talk about instead and !
A3: A collaboration between students, teachers and field experts in an online virtual environment (rural accessible).Almost there!
1. ethical behaviour & beliefs
2. courage & risk taking
3. creativity & innovation
4. concept of mentoring - passing it on
A3 Open it right up. Come into class, find a project you like the sound of & go crazy. Teacher watches on as learning happens.
A4 creativity, critical thinking, growth mindset & respect
A4 - Skepticism (the healthy variety of course)
I don't even know what Q3 was, but you have my vote. Or at least throw out the "academic" curriculum. https://t.co/z9NVNtyJuU
A3 For a start, completely throw out the mathematics curriculum.
A3 Great Q-and just in time, as I just returned from scrolling through the hashtag!
Traditional literacy & digital literacy compliment each other
Tech can improve Ss learning
Join the community of teacher-learner
OH, damn, how did I forget curiosity... thats the best one!!
A4: Adaptability, creativity, curiosity & foresight
We're very lucky with our digital resourcing initial struggle but clear benefits now visible.
A3. A space where everything in the space was controlled by Tech! Eg a Sand pit with a iPad Controled excavator!
BYOD supports personalised learning, promotes digital citizenship & supports equitable use tech
A3 Integrated, meaningful, enquiries. Real problems with the funding and time for ss to trial real solutions.
A3 - I would have every student do Maths N Movement - physical activity and STEM. Target obesity young and get Ss loving maths
A4) Inquiry, creativity, innovation, decision making, Empower Ss to dig deeper into their learning
A4: critical thinking, self-reflection, metacognition, persistence
Yes, I think I'm making up my own questions! It makes chats easier...
Yep. Even with a few digital tools u could still teach these skills. Dig tools just makes it easier https://t.co/orVFfHRg03
A2 creative & critical problem solvers, sound communicators & collaborators needed for 'future work force' tech is just a tool
how can they learn to use it effectively if don't model it, show them, allow them to use it in ways to learn in class
A4: Digi citizenship, problem solvers, tolerance (for things not working), authenticity
A4 leadership, creativity, unqiueness and grit
A4 curiosity, authenticity, confidence, creativity
A4 Open mind, curiosity, collaboration, perseverance
using digital tools encourages critical thinking, independence, voice, creativity
So misunderstood by parents & educators. 3 year olds can navigate apps! Ss need 2 learn how 2 evaluate & create.
QF4: Risk taking (in a 'safe' way)!
SAMR is too linear Encourages a stepped progression when big leaps to what is relevant works best

A4: Buy in of "change" by more teachers and admin. can improve education. I see it in my building
A3 Learning environments w/out barriers [firewall], but w/ online T support - more authentic online learning
A3: Would love to see learning w/out grade levels & separate courses -- really set up our Ss for authentic learning experiences.
A4: persistence, problem solving, collaboration and self-reliance.
In a number of school, they've brought in the devices and then think job done, it's just started.
A3.1 gave an address slidesharehttp://www.slideshare.net/gsiemens/future-of-learning-digital-distributed-and-datadriven
It's not just convenience, bridges gap btw school/home work, Ss use it as a tool not a novelty
awesome tools. had my Ss create their own AR using loved
A4. Students who question why
Q4 All those mentioned including
. A4 Curiosity, risk-taking, Self-challenge & flexibility
I agree if reversed is more visionary and aspirational.
A4 - Respect for themselves and others -
A3 I've also thought abt going Full STEM & getting Ss to make the school Carbon Neutral
I get that completely, but a lot of schools still don’t want to loosen the tech reigns just yet.
Ha ha. I was giving away some of my ideas for the implementation of in our school next term
Need a word cloud of Q4 responses. I'm seeing themes
A4 - Question everything you read
A4 For characteristics of modern learners? Gee that's a hard one! Maybe independence, scepticism, generosity, wonder.
That's what we've found, Ss now have far greater independence and agency.
? More like aussie Spread, amirite?
now theres a challenge for someone, with time on their hands! :-)
A4b A willingness to fail
Once again, we're lucky. Aorere is a fail forward and up school for Ts and Ss.
Nice! What balance of your program will be PBL?
SAMR is misunderstood. It's not a ladder to be climbed. It's categorisation. Nothing more.
RT : a1 Daliy .We learn and make thing: ) example
A4d a willingness to listen and take on feedback
SAVE THOUSANDS $$ FREE SEARCH NO LOGINS OR BROKERS
Australian Secondary School Students SAVE Student Debt https://t.co/xcUFYMgm5r
Absolutely. Better to teach Ss how to surf the net safely then to try and hold back the ocean.
As all us Aussie Ts have at the moment 😄
A5 Spending what? Spending how? Spending why?
A4 Four characteristics of modern learners? Gee that's a hard one! Maybe independence, scepticism, generosity, wonder.
Wisdom is what I most hope my own children will halve above all else
I'd place connect with collaborate/communicate & believe creative thinking still trumps computer apps
Starting with 50 Ss from gr 3-6 and it will be every day for Term 3. Can't wait to see what happens
I use SAMR all the time. All good here.
thanks Sujatha, it would be a huge task but cover every KLA in the school quite comfortably!
Good clarification. Ironically I have some presenters visualise it in ladder form! LOL
On a side note, we have coming to our school tomorrow. What should I ask him? Anything other than the sch funding issue pls
A4: Curiosity, creativity, persistence, critical thinking typing 1handed with a sick kid in my arms, so 1 tweet will do
. Scary. Not sure what its like in NZ High schs
A5 - get on twitter - best way for teachers to learn from each others - look at us now - Best PD / Learning and on the couch!
A4: Characteristics: Caring, Curiosity, Collaborative, Cutting-Edge.
A5 is Geoff Masters comments based on NAPLAN data that kids don't give two hoots about????
I've only ever heard it described as a ladder to be climbed!
A5: make content relevant and relateable to students, linking it to their interests and lives https://t.co/DHAN8YXLtI
A5. Reinstate teachers as the experts, the pedagogues. Remove the authority from politicians & policy makers
Are you going to blog the journey?
Wonder! What a marvellous thing to nurture?!
We've given Tchrs their own iPads to encourage tech skills & collaboration as part of BYOD prog
A5 Teaching standards haven't declined, test results have declined bc school leaders erroneously believe teaching 2 the test works
We're doing ok. May be social & socio-economic influences as well Brett!
We're doing ok. May be social & socio-economic influences as well Brett!
A5: Are the tests matching the curriculum expectations, along with the societal experiences of 2016 and beyond, not 1970?
A4d: The willingness to share what they learn with others
A5 Anything that gets you to connect with your students as people, to build community
Gotta go but join us for Aussie chat this wed 18th may AEST, topic: what makes a good field trip GREAT?
at least the tech is in Ss hands - they WILL use creative apps for their learning without asking ☺️
Ts and ss need to be 'Pensive'. We need time to think, reflect, iterate and improve. To see things better https://t.co/vT7NnFKaNS
Q4 Collaboration. Open- source
Q4 Collaboration. Open- source
A5: At times I wonder if the system is broken? Will more of the same produce more of the same? Is the playing field really level?
yep!! everyone has been to school, so they think they know everything. we know best, at the coalface
An alternate view of SAMR as a jigsaw not a ladder, frees movement to where tech should be, https://t.co/3cMFEzvJfX
A5. Stay on topic as long as necessary. Short windows of time leave so many students behind. Ten week units at least.
I don't. My digital team developed our own rubric to suit our Ts.
A5: Like a corporation throwing money at a problem. Ts would know better than to think money is the answer
Just ask us!
A5 Ts need to do less telling & more questioning Ss need to be the ones doing the explaining
Ask him what he would do if he could start from scratch. What's his blue sky dream for education
Q5. Literacy and Numeracy are being tested badly. Need to get better tests. Maybe they could get teachers to test students!
Eugh. That's the worst. There is so much wrong with that. I can't even.
A5. Stop creating narrowed outcomes based on test Qs... Outcomes should be as varied as Ss & their aspirations in life
It truly is the "value add" that we do.
So true. students often lead in digital!
schools/systems block so many things on the net instead of teaching responsibility. Remember they all have phones in their pockets
let the Ss lead the learning, tchrs will catch up!
A4: Critical analysis, personal goal setting, question generating, learn to learn
A5 "Minimally adequate" are meaningless weasel words, which speaks volumes about how numbers have replaced purposeful development.
Agreed. Unfortunately not always at school. :(
A2 IMO social interactions & primacy of relationships & emotional intelligence will still hold sway. Will require DL & competency
A5: The big questions are what are we measuring and how are we measuring. T are doing more than ever with Students.
I think the Ss will blog their own journey as self assessment. All part of the process.
describes it like a swimming pool w/ deep end. Like that idea.
is that a pic from my class??? LOL .. just joking!!
Too late! I'm so sorry. It's holiday and we'll visit relatives! Next time again!
PISA results was the context
A5. We do the best with what we have. That includes the curriculum, workload pressure & high expectations.
A5 - create more opportunities for active application of learned concepts (PBL). Learning is more than just learning for tests.
Nice. What are they using?
Well said! https://t.co/0rkjF7rJqB
A5 Teaching standards haven't declined, test results have declined bc school leaders erroneously believe teaching 2 the test works
this is very similar to what you were saying about less net restrictions https://t.co/YHapnKz6yq
schools/systems block so many things on the net instead of teaching responsibility. Remember they all have phones in their pockets
A5 The definition of insanity-repeating the same thing & expecting new results -why aren't we changing the curric to suit our Ss?
A5 "If children cannot learn the way we teach, we must teach the way children learn." My Learning pages https://t.co/q9ZvtbPb2Q
relies on no tech & is proven to be highly effective for creative prob solving in the 'real world'
A4 critical consumers, aware of being safe online, creative, collaborative
A5 teach standards r workin. Mayb cause they r made by industry professionals. Imagine how curriculum could benefit
A3 Real world projects incorporating skills they need to solve at that time,
A5: Success is quite hard to measure. Not sure the testing we do measures how successful our Ss will be outside of school than in?
Love your thinking 😊 https://t.co/vZx3RD1Ljr
A5. Stay on topic as long as necessary. Short windows of time leave so many students behind. Ten week units at least.
Much discussion today about value adding not being valued. Schools work with the kids they have to create growth.
Curriculum is not where the main problem lies, it is how it is delivered (in my opinion) https://t.co/Pbd2y7Xz6x
A5 The definition of insanity-repeating the same thing & expecting new results -why aren't we changing the curric to suit our Ss?
A5 Strategies are not the answer, allowing teachers to act as professionals and focus on pedagogy is the answer to any ed question
A5: Listen 2 teachers. Curriculum mapping by teachers. Reflection. School culture. Effective leadership
A5 time spent testing could be used for Ss to do what they love to do.. discover, inquire and learn!! S can be passionate learners
A5 Are Aus schools really adrift or is the PISA testing adrift? Are we actually measuring learning or the ability to sit tests?
And then we blame the technology rather than the behaviour!
A5: I would begin by asking what the tests are actually designed to measure. In many cases, it's the TESTS that need improvement.
A5. To the politicians... Guess where & I were today. At school! On Sunday. Again! We do our best each day.
I keep saying, To much emphasis on data and its collection. Please let us be creative and just TEACH!
Most students want likewise, soundbyte learning!
we need to become co learners with Ss in the digital age, we're not the key to knowing everything
.Sorry GTG tired(11.10pm) Have my identical twins start 2mrw. Need to be awake to be able to tell thm apart https://t.co/Efl6uhQZCI
Agree, that's why I co-construct lessons and work with my students, learn through the process.
When the curriculum is based on "academics" that are of questionable use beyond school, I'm not sure I agree Kati.
I don't think Ts are the problem here - how can we innovate if the curriculum doesn't evolve?
they'll seek learning when they're interested in the task, Cld they negotiate it?
A6. Concern - how do we define a curriculum about dig tech when it evolves so quickly?
Imagine if all the money put into writing, distributing and marking NAPLAN was put into teaching
I hope any govt would want children to love learning, to be adventurous in learning & to be altruistic
When IT people override teachers in unblocking websites 4 education it's called gatekeeping. I've been victim
To be perfectly honest my response was eye rolling...
a6- excited about opportunities for embedding computational thinking
A6 I personally believe coding could be as powerful a learning environment as play is.
A6 should be no concerns, as tech is part of life now - we just have to use it in balance with the right pedagogy/practice
I think they have to, in order to learn beyond the outcome!
A6 That Ts will see it as more to 'teach' rather than ways to learn
a6 - concerned that this will be yet another excuse for schools to throw money at tech rather than learning programs
A6. Hopefully it's all about process and not about product.
A6. Excites - knowing the benefit to students and seeing their engagement level rise. Scares - More work for me as tech coach!
to be perfectly honest my response was eye rolling...
A6a I'm excited that it will provide direction and maybe push some reluctant ts along.
A5: The data , metrics obsession is impacting engagement and well being - switching learners off
Want quality extension/challenge activities for your class? Try using a classroom challenge jar https://t.co/WSbNC38e2B
A6 It will be bloated, disconnected from other areas and outdated before we see it. It will restrict progress more than encourage
So important 4 students 2 see us make mistakes as well as learn from students. https://t.co/bLBCP81sYg
we need to become co learners with Ss in the digital age, we're not the key to knowing everything
A6: That it will just become a tick a box and not an authentic use of tech to enhance learning.
A6. We have started Digital Technologies. More room for collaboration. Tricky to access tech tools though in 1 lab.
A1 A measure of using tech independently & with others responsibly, communicating, +ve contribution, validation of info
And this, is what teachers should be doing. Watch how engaged Ss become @ school. https://t.co/AulU8jiK0I
A5 time spent testing could be used for Ss to do what they love to do.. discover, inquire and learn!! S can be passionate learners
A6. Excited there is one finally! However very worried about how it has been written therefore how it will be implemented!
I believe we can often twist it + make learning meaningful despite constraints. Change what we have power 2 change
A6b I'm concerned that it may be implemented clumsily, further crowding our days and not providing meaningful learning
A6 I also agree with Papert that a computer is an instrument creating ideas, getting them in more kids hands is exciting.
If it is going to be a success there needs to be deliberate strategic support from all systems https://t.co/xq89fyZrTO
A6 concerned that all teachers may not be given opportunity for PD to build capacity to teach a topic they may have no exp with.
A6 excited to be given 'permission' to implement in NSW 🙄 worried about lack of $$ & PD to build Tchr capacity
Schools are becoming aligned more with society, industry. A6
A6: I'm excited!
My only concerned is when I hear ppl say that a tool or practice is THE answer/way as opposed to AN answer/way.
I'm more worried about who is writing it!
A6: Concern - will curriculum keep up with change? Will we try to do 'new' things the 'old' way?
totally agree! my sch is not yet fully into tech we only hav specific yr levels & its still in the progress stage
I first did a PBL unit 25 years ago without even realizing it. 25 years on, I'm still convinced. Only question is balance
A6. The ability for us to implement it in a small rural school where some computers still have floppy disks & internet's sketchy
RT ZeinaChalich: 10 minute tinker w Adobe_Slate See my story: Makerspace love it! https… via:jcolbert1980 ..
A6 Refusal to teach from Ts that don't understand or choose to care
I think we have to accept data will stay (& get bigger) but we need to take charge of it have it work for us
A6: I'm excited!
My only concern is when I hear ppl say that a tool or practice is THE answer/way as opposed to AN answer/way.
A6 worried the new dig curric will take us back to computer lab learning once a wk bc of speciality? Needs to be integrated
A6- Very concerned about equity between schools.
Could be a huge game changers... new subject where Kindy up doing serious tech work
IMO there has to be a middle ground, can't have complete autonomy, choice.
Excited that computational thinking will be taught across curriculum. I can't wait to meet sts who have been coding since grade 1!
A7 concern: how many current teachers were involved in writing the syllabus? Does it allow scope for teacher judgement??
Any local -ers mind explaining Tech Syllabus to an out of towner?
A6 DT curriculum crosses all KLA's and relevant for today's Ss. CT skills assists with breaking down all content in all areas
If all are being done well, then young people will be better prepared for the world which awaits them
Totally agree with the realism Kati. So often ignored on Twitter!
Words of wisdom emanate from ->
lets hope not! too important not be integrated properly with pedagogy - as a useful & powerful tool.
Its the way of the world. The kids teach can teach us. Key: People don't buy books for their kids they by iPads.
A6 I also believe exploring the new learning & teaching possibilities of technology is the best environment 4 teacher development.
Hope you kept the receipt! I thankfully never was! LOL
Do we simply need to get out of the way of learners? work organising
because we have to work with what we are given a lot of the time. There is a limit, OK but much we can do indeed
Maybe it's not about the T needing 2b expert. I would argue it's more important 4 Ts 2b co-learners
Or maybe just alongside them?
Where are they going to get the staff to do that?
Listen to Mark when he tells you to listen to Brett -->
:)
That would do it, now how do we all get on board with that?
we stand on the shoulders of giants! . Thanks for the mention https://t.co/JEzEUmOLR4
ABSOLUTELY, positively must these TEACHERS
Equity keeps coming up, but we don't have a good definition. What does it mean to you?
A6: That it will only be paid lip service. We used a computer today. Tick the digital curric box!
A2 tech=tool 2 accelerate learning & deepening understanding. Key is access 2 learning & developing global capabilities
well and personalized learning, digital citizenship, equitable use tech supports BYOD
That Ts may finally understand the is not about it's about
I think people like u and me should be working hard to upskill our current teachers. A little coding isn't scary.
so true, I'd say our students are shaping that future right now. We're trying to keep up!
so... replacing ICT as we know it?
Tonight's is right on your area. Have you heard that Australia is rolling out a 'new subject' Digital Tech https://t.co/deVyb9vVHr
No, we still need to push. "Self motivation" isn't any easier in 2016!
A6 teachers not taking a backseat but jumping off the ship when using learner focused tech
A6 Excited that the curric acknowledges it's importance. Wondering how people assess it? How do ppl currently assess Ss coding?
thanks Mark :-) sometimes I get the right words. LOL
I agree we have to work with what we have been given - but as educators we have the right to be discerning
A6 What am I worried about? That schools might buy programs in order to tick the technology box.
A6 Allows for more collaborative connections, great opportunities for Ss who know little about the world to lead their learning
A6. Our district follows the Gradual Release Model. We have chosen to trial it this year as a specialist lesson in the library.
A6 Excited for opportunities it may provide for Ss to fly with their dreams. Concerned conservative approaches may thwart this
A6 Dept bandwidth limits, blocked sites and IT visit once a fortnight. Luckily, my school isn't is this position. I bet lots are.
A3 A maker space!! Should be in every school.
As part of our national curriculum there is going 2b a digital technologies specific syllabus which Ts will need 2 follow
Brand new subject rolling out. Kindergarten will be doing coding, teenagers very advanced skills. https://t.co/KjTmSIuf2W
Any local -ers mind explaining Tech Syllabus to an out of towner?
It can be done, I ask the students as often and as much as possible.
agreed. Too often we forget the power of co- creating and co- constructing learning with students
No one pedagogical method works all the time. I'm thinking that its more like a Just-in-time methodology.
we need to get them taking risks, failing and learning. Just like we expect from our Ss!
we start with engagement but must move to deep learning, choice is important
I got out of the way of my G12 honors anatomy & phys Ss offering blended mastery learning. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I can see it happening - the mad panic to assess competencies to satisfy BoS, rather than authenticity in learning.
Chamge happens one personal decision at a time!
By Grade 11 though it's going to be well beyond that. Online courses? PBL coding collabs could be cool.
Scooting out early, . Off to continue building a school! :) Be well & know how much you are appreciated! :)
Ts are losing the power, the Ss have always had it.
Bonus answer: GAFE without a doubt!
We will have to agree to disagree on this one :)
True which is why teacher generated data needs to be in the mix We should not be reliant on or trusting of ext. data
A4 1. Creativity 2. Contribution 3. Questioning 4. Validation
Bonus Q - thats easy peasy - TWITTER has transformed and reinvigorated my teaching , also must mention google apps too!
Teachers still having difficulty integrating. Some r still teacher-centered, control oriented. :-(
I agree choice in location, task and duration, all builds critical analysis.
Very interesting. For dragging teachers out of the stone age or more consistency among all? Both? Thanks!
I got a tech novice to take a coding club. She sits with Ss and is learning with them. 😀
A fine example of PLN power in action happening here ->
Please tell me you are on the BOSTES/ACARA team for this new syllabus.
I think there is too much focus on Ts needing 2b in front of Ss in lrning. It can be a shared learning exp
Thanks Mark, that's really kind of you! :)
That's what we want, students going beyond because of our belief and their freedoms,
BA: Umm, all…but I am still waiting on my initial Mac training that was promised in 1996… haha!
Papert had it right but he saw tech as much more than internet searches and typing but as tool for rich creation
Thank you much love the ideas rolling in about will try to adapt in my classes soon til next
Bonus Q: Twitter has reshaped how I connect with Educators & enhanced learning. Class Dojo has improved connections with parents.
So is the focus on access to resources or learning opportunities? Which should it be?
hopefully will make positive impact because students currently arriving in Y7 don't know how to use laptop for learning
It’s not just loosening the reigns, it’s taking off the saddle!
I would say twitter, blogs, wikis, and a wide variety of apps have done it for me
Bonus: Twitter (for learning). Slack (for communicating). Stile (for all the teacher stuff). All good!
I like this. Being agile to respond to the learning needs, in the moment, responding to evidence of learning, or lack of.
Cool! How does Grok learning help you assess your Ss understanding and skills?
BQ Twitter for professional learning. Seesaw for S e-portfolios. One Note for organisation of information https://t.co/v8Ebp0xtd4
Should see my 5 year olds doing blockly coding! Started with Robot Turtles boardgame then moved 2 computer.
LOL I know the feeling :p
A6: We have excited teachers investigating unfamiliar but achievable learning experiences with their Ss
process, product, content and learning environment all negotiable
Tonight I learnt how to code an ultrasonic sensor. I filmed my trial & error. tmw my sts will watch vid
# Tweets are not loading last 10 min.... So Great to be on w/u again. Wishing you a FABULOUS week of special surprises.
A number are at our school. More are not https://t.co/w4ye8r0u2g
A2. Every classroom in Australia should be flipped by now! Are they?
To my knowledge several states are still yet to roll it out. Not 100% sure
I should start my own business in next term. Something that will make me rich!
I kid! Teachers should never wait on training. Go forth and seek it out!
It would be fascinating to hear his thoughts on remix/reuse culture, virality, and other social learning developments.
the powerful aspect has mainly been in the "with each other" in my experience!
A6) Excites, the right tech, all of which may not yet be invented, used properly can unleash creativity & empower Ss
Padlet, GAFE and Google Classroom most of all and of course twitter! BQ
if there's a trusting rships & time to negotiate - it's all possible
Thanks for the thanks Roxanne --
BQ: & Twitter has transformed how I assess Ss & how I track my own continued growth.
I agree. Many convos about equity focus on the resources, not equity of experience.
BA: GOOGLE DRIVE AND TWITTER!
A7. is reshaping how I assess & report to Ps as it can pick up almost every source of assessment giving real-time f'back
BQ2: My students are loving https://t.co/G7GmOwDERT as part of our Genius Hour. The only prob I have is stopping them!
ooo, that gets the mind twirling around... clever quote!
They are lucky to have you Joel
BonusQ:for my own learning (& sharing with my Ts and Ss)Twitter and the awesome chats I have joined. So much to learn from so many!
Bonus: Edublogs, Twitter, Pinterest, Google apps and so many more. Online tools are prominent.
hey Joel, how do you currently assess your Ss coding knowledge/skills?
let's keep empowering the Ss
If U have inquiry based ped, then lrning digital tech w/ Ss will always be led thru pedagogy not having expertise w/ tech
Using Moodle now Google as collaborative platforms. Better planning, more resources, less paper! More in time feedback
Thanks ... none of us as good as all of us. Stand together!
The experience comes down to the the Ts too- Ss will miss out regardless of tech available
BQ Too many to name... but PLN on Twitter... Woohoo!!!
thx for the mention back to
Yes thats what i did - learnt most of what i know bout the net and Mac on my own ...
It is nice that they have the information as it happens & not just at the end of the semester
I agree, it's amazing how many Ts still see twitter as social media! BQ
BA - Definitely Twitter-So many fantastic teachers to connect with and great ideas I have learnt.
☺️ it cld be a life saver for many Ss who are disengaged from learning already
These are just the ones on my phone!
A7Oh my! Which ones haven't? Office 365. GoodReader. Paper 53. Edmodo. Onenote. Apple TV. Twitter. VoiceThread. Notability
Would you consider embedding STEM practices in a Makerspace environment?
Nice and it's real-time, authentic and global sharing too! BA
I scratch my head when "inquiry teachers" say they can't use this tech because no one showed them how
A3-- authentic, real life connections for students that they can use outside of the classroom.
BONUS! Twitter has fundamentally changed my practice. Access to PLN 24/7. GAFE has been amazing for personalisation4ss
A6: new tech subject good idea, but would rather ICT integration across all KLAs & create a Maker subject w/ problem solving
Yes, because STEM practices should not be isolated from creative practice
Dear
Thanks for filling my 5:30am bus ride back to school by dropping some knowledge in my hands
Fight the good fight!
Heading out! Thank you for hosting the chat today! I've missed
You like me and have a full iPad too? Wish school would get me a new one to fill again
You should see my Year 11s, all comes down to fit-for-purpose & digicit and learning
Yes it is huge for me too ... so many self-help videos so little time :0
and then get annoyed at Ss that say "I don't know how!"
They generally make a screencast video talking me through something they've coded.
That's exactly how I see them rolling out https://t.co/4R5CY4M9yx
Would you consider embedding STEM practices in a Makerspace environment?
BQ: Twitter=networking. I see "followers" = me talking & "following" = me listening. Make sure I am listening more than talking.
That is what I have been wondering too. Many Ts stick their kids on scratch but have no idea how it works themselves
A7Bonus) & iMovie for movie making, bubbl.us for Ss family tree, recreate story main events w/
THESE TEACHERS shape the future of education
Bonus: Tech enhances my learning>gives me opportunities to teach/share I wuldn"t hav w/o it.Blessed
A7- and of course Twitter!
My own! Just saves me time! Screw waiting for my school to pay for it! Then I get what I want!
our Ss know SAMR & question use of tech now, they like sharpies & post it notes too
google drive has allowed so much more collaboration, also used apps like ditty, puppet pals and Adobe voice to make vids
Tech valuable but is just one option after all!
I'm also interested to hear about the tools and frameworks that teachers have created...
Twitter is great 4 educators around world but please realize Twitter doing poorly in New York Stock Exchange. Outlook bad.
SNAP - thats exactly what I said! LOL... great minds think alike! :-)
I find much of what has to say on this continues his work in useful ways.
Build a culture of learning - tech is one part
Integrate w/ purpose
I believe that resources only define experience when we design instruction that way.
It’s all in balance and related to pedagogical intention. Same, mine know many forms.
I'm loving sending Ss off the the experts so that I can hone my own maze game coding skills
That's the million dollar question https://t.co/6QfRQWhHyG
How are we going to train Ts + resource schools to properly implement the new Digital Tech curriculum?
Could not agree more. Ts hold the keys to building successful learners, the learning leaders we need but often ignored.
Maybe its all the schools blocking it?! Might need to start a revolution!
Want to hear how crowd can . Join our International rockin' chat at 10:30pm AET/ 8:30am EST https://t.co/Qihblwt41T
Thanks Rachel and likewise. We're all in the !
Oh you mean doing Rich Tasks that have all the subjects included in a technological build?
yes, they want schools and Ts to do more with less all the time
A7: I use my camera and screen shotting a lot as a visual learner
Then I would jump online w/ my Ss and learn 2gether. Skype a native speaker. Immerse ourselves & lrn :)
As long as they're learning, method irrelevant IMO.
