#IlluminateED focuses on how teachers can create meaningful learning experiences for their students through the intentional implementation of technology. Discussions range from strategies and ideas for purposeful technology integration discussed in Bethany Petty's book, Illuminate: Technology Enhanced Learning, global collaborations, building and expanding a powerful PLN, teacher well-being, and MORE!
Welcome to #IlluminateED! i’m so happy to learn and share with you tonight! I attended a fantastic conference this week at my alma mater - @SEMissouriState and met so many wonderful educators! Introduce yourself and tag a teacher-friend we should follow!

A1: I've never connected with other classes. We are a rural school so I think it would be an awesome experience for my kiddos to learn and interact with kids from other areas and cultures. #illuminateED#edu5213sbu
Hey #IlluminateED! Jumping in for a little bit because I saw @kristi_daws and @techamys were here.
Louie from Lancaster, PA. 5th Grade Teacher moving to Philly this summer. Leaving for #ISTE18 in the morning!
A1: I've been fortunate enough to connect my students with classrooms in other parts of the world, and it's been amazing! @SGHistoryTeach is a GREAT resource for global education projects and has even taken his students abroad! #illuminateed
I have a colleague who is now teaching in CostaRica we teamed our kids together where one group planned and sent their plans to the other group to follow. A great lesson in clarity. They then reflected with each other on the experience. #illuminateED!
A2. There are so many benefits to using Breakouts in class, tactile or digital! All the 4 Cs included! (@kristi_daws!!) I actually ran a BreakoutEDU club this year and went to the actual escape room at the end of the year! SUCH A BLAST #IlluminateED
A2: I ❤️ digital Breakouts! I make them with Google Forms. I actually just created one for the staff of a school as a team building activity. #IlluminateED
A2: I learned about #breakoutedu activities two years ago at a conference & immediately wanted to dive in - but didn't have access to the kits. Then, I found #digitalbreakoutedu and loved the freedom and ease of access -- and it's free! #illuminateed
A3: ABSOLUTELY!! I provide Pd for educators and even use them in sessions. Our #4OCFpln has been joining in on each other’s PD sessions all summer to show collaboration. It works!! #IlluminateED
#IlluminateED I've tried the digital breakouts on the breakoutedu site. The only thing I don't like is they don't tell you an age or grade level of their premade breakouts.
A3: My students love #breakoutedu activities and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE watching them practice the Cs of 21st century learning - they communicate, collaborate and think critically #illuminateed I've heard they feel like they're in National Treasure!
#IlluminateED A3 I would love to get more global collaborations going through @Flipgrid or @Seesaw. The opportunities are there, but I haven't found the best method to keep them going.
Q3: This challenges me. I think it is great for collaboration, and would work. I would like to get in a connection to content. There are not too many perspectives to Newton’s laws. #illuminateED!
Yes! I create a google site with links to the clues. Students click around to solve the puzzles. I'm on my phone right now, so it's hard for me to drop a link... #IlluminateED
I highly recommend you make your own. You can use @Bethany_Petty resources. It is really simple and you can use it as a template over and over again. #IlluminateED
A4: OMG! So many amazing tools... @wizerme@nearpod@quizizz@quizlet I ❤️ to use Google Forms to differentiate. If they miss it, redirect them to remediation right then! #IlluminateED
