Our first question is coming up; let’s get ready to chat! Please preface your responses with A1) Excited to collaborate and share ideas with you today about intellectual curiosity! #gtchat
A1) A powerful urge to discover and understand - characteristic of Dabrowski's Intellectual overexcitability and motivator for autonomous learners #gtchat

A1) Love of learning for learning's sake. Always wondering why and why not. Being unapologetically thrilled at the nerdiest things ever. Never losing that childlike sense of wonder. #gtchat
A2) Intellectual curiosity is important for the advancement of society; a way forward in which we don’t do something stupid to end our existence. #gtchat

A3) Model, model, model intellectual curiosity themselves; show an interest in what they are teaching and never be afraid to admit they don’t know all the answers. #gtchat
A3. Fight the timetable restrictions! Have a culture of inquiry as the accepted norm in the classroom. Find ways to allow for students to have time to deeply explore their wonderings. #gtchat
Always - that's the power of true learning and teaching - not knowing all the answers, being curious. Learning alongside, with and from our students. #gtchat#WhatIsSchool

A3) Intellectual curiosity can be sparked simply by asking students thought provoking questions and not giving the answers. Going far beyond test prep and encouraging more questions can be the beginning of intellectual curiosity. #gtchat
A3) Give Ss the chance to seek out what they are curious about and have a "Wonder" day. Similar to Genius Hour, but where they research what they wonder about. #gtchat
Or, if you want to really push the boundaries, make this happen every day. There's a whole lot of wonder in being able to think outside the square and make this happen for our students. #gtchat
A4: Offer support and pathways. For example, we have a GT student interested in Geology. His Ps sought resources/people who could help him explore his curiosity. We just happen to have a geologist at our school so it worked out well. #gtchat
A4) Parents can be patient when their children are young and always asking ‘why’. Never discourage their inquisitive nature; rather nurture it by showing an interest in their passions. #gtchat
A4) Parents can discuss topics of interest, wonder and controversy with their children and help them investigate. And make friends with the library and online information sources. #gtchat
A4) Parents can provide a wide array of resources to assist their children in seeking answers to their questions. It doesn’t have to be expensive; it may require a time and interest commitment on their part. #gtchat
A4. Spend time with children to help their curiosity flourish. Everything is so rushed that we don't have time to stop and wonder anymore. Need to take that back. #gtchat
A5) Sometimes children lose their intellectual curiosity because of factors beyond their own control; an inability to focus, to stay on task or lack of encouragement to explore new things. #gtchat
Yes! I think many of us (me included) think our kiddos use tech so much they automatically know how to use everything tech-related. We hope to foster tech creators as opposed to tech consumers. :-) #gtchat
A6) Intellectual curiosity encourages lifelong learning which not only benefits ourselves but those around us as well; whether they are our children, students or friends. #gtchat
A6) Intellectual curiosity can increase our chances (not necessarily insure) of success in life as we integrate what we learn into our everyday life. #gtchat
A6: Our world is changing at an exponential rate, and for me, in order to provide the best education to my students and for my personal growth, I must be diligent in my mission to always keep learning. #gtchat
A6) We feel more in tune with the world around us -- as if we're living more fully. We're probably also more curious than average about other people, which builds satisfaction in relationships. People trust and respect the intellectually curious. #gtchat
Thank you so much @gtchatmod Lisa for all your wonderful preparation and moderation and @TXGifted advisory board, sponsors, supporters and everyone for another great #gtchat#gtchat
As always thanks for the great resources. I have 1 kid who has lost what used to be strong intellectual curiosity and I am trying to reign mine in, so this is a deeply personal topic for me. #gtchat
Also recognize when "Why?" is more learning how to keep up a conversation. But answer accurately anyway, even if it's "I don't know." (Not "because the moon is made of green cheese.") ;) #gtchat
