It's fun & easy to jump right in & share your thoughts or ask more Qs! Here's how...
Qs drop as Q1...Q2...& you answer A1...A2...
Don't forget to include #EduGladiators hashtag & follow @EduGladiators where ALL of our Qs drop from!
A1: Legacy is the impact we make & how it shapes the future. Remember that different people will view your legacy in different ways. Ask the Ts & Ss I have worked w/ about me & compare that to view of my bosses. Legacy is relative & YOU must must know YOUR goal! #EduGladiators
A1: Legacy. What lives on after you're gone, or after your direct impact is over. We could apply this to both a teacher's legacy but also students' legacies, too #edugladiators
A1) A legacy means two things to me. It's not only what you leave behind, but it's also how people remember you. In an educational context, I think it's what students walk away with when they leave your classroom. #edugladiators
A1) Legacy is what you leave behind. It tells your story & the influence you've had on an organization & its people. It can be good or bad. Ensure you leave a legacy that is worthy of others carrying on after you are gone. #EduGladiators
A1 An inspirational vision, culture, and way of operating that is bigger than one person. The legacy continues after the inspirational fore-founders transitioned off the scene #edugladiators
A1: At our @hebisd convocation this August, legacy was defined as not something you leave for people, but something you leave IN people. I really like that definition and it’s stuck with me/challenged me to reflect on what I’m leaving IN my Ss. #EduGladiators
A1: We talk about this during our Covey Leadership Lessons.
I think it is what you leave behind in your personal and/or professional life. You do not need to be famous or known by millions. What difference did you make? What impact did you have? #edugladiators
A1: Legacy is the future. How we envision it, how we choose to impact it, how we create it, how we act on it, the effort we give to ensure it. It’s the future self/ world we make & then leave behind #edugladiators
A1:Legacy is the impact a person leaves behind on the people in their world now and how that will impact others throughout generations to come. #EduGladiators
A1: legacy is what stays when a person is gone—I like to think of it like the ripples in the water after the initial impact that causes them. #edugladiators
A1: Legacy is the foundation you carry with you from those older mentors who guided you. It helps form your world view. It may have come from family, educators, religious leaders in your life, etc. #edugladiators
Legacy- Leading through service to others which causes a ripple effect that extends beyond your time as a leader. The leaders you grow extend the ripples even farther through time. #edugladiators
Love the internalizing of the legacy within, Amy. Leads to reflection on how we can make our own contributions to the legacy @amynicolebettis#edugladiators
A1. A legacy are the people you have impacted & the people they impacted because of you. It is what makes us immortal. We live for ever due to our good deeds. #edugladiators
A1: Legacy is a gift. From the perspective of being an educator and educating Ss, a legacy to me is......how many people can I impact with my gifts? #EduGladiators
A2: To operate with a specific focus that aligns one's actions with one's intentions in such a way that leaves behind an impact that improves the quality of life for others. #EduGladiators
A1) I can not define my #legacy, yet. It is still being written 😁😁😁
It is about those who came before me. My legacy is everyone that invested, believed, supported, and encouraged me on this journey.
My legacy will include the lives of others I have touched. #edugladiators
A2: Legacy mindset means that we live a life with our eyes focused on our purpose. We don't let the petty or small things change our focus. This focus is what defines who we are as people & any moves away from it impacts our own self-views & self-worth. #EduGladiators
A2) It means working w/ the future gen. in mind. Knowing everything you do & say matters. Your words & actions leave a footprint on the culture of your school. Leave behind something that ppl who come after you can be proud to be a part of. #EduGladiators
A2: Working with a legacy mindset means you actually have a vision for what you want to accomplish personally and professionally. I find that most people don't take the time to LIVE with that kind of INTENTIONALITY #edugladiators
A2 A legacy mindset means you are doing all you can to have a positive impact on those you connect with so that they can have a positive impact on all of those with whom they connect. #EduGladiators
A2: I think the main thing is valuing long term > short term. This has lots of implications in the way we teach, our interactions with Ss, and pretty much everything. #edugladiators

A2 Legacy MIndset- You have an exit plan. You have a vision for the future, where you want your people to be, how you can grow more leaders, and impact lives for the better. #edugladiators
A2: What you are building, you are building it to last. It could be future leaders, cirriculum, the capacity of your brand new admin team, school culture, traditions... #EduGladiators
A2: I love the concept of defining your goals so deeply that you’re not just looking into the future at a year or two of time, but you’re looking into the structures and definitions of the impact you, your institution, and you leadership can have. #EduGladiators
A2: Remembering that what we do may not seem momentous at the time, but it may be to that student. And that small memories students have in our classes may have lasting impacts #edugladiators
A2 To live with a legacy mindset means that we are focused on future generations - we are intentional about increasing the capacity of those who come after us, so they will pay-it-forward to enrich the organization's vision and success #edugladiators
A2: I believe we are never “there”. To live/ work with that constant concept of “yet” in vision, people, goals, love, life, faith... it’s the best mindset #edugladiators
A2) A legacy mindset allows you to take the focus off yourself & onto what will be best for the organization. In 50 yrs., our names will most likely have been forgotten, but if we lived well, our ideas & impact on the culture will live on through others. #EduGladiators
A2 While mindfulness encourages our presence in the moment, might legacy mindset remind us to lengthen our lens sometimes to consider futures when we reflect on how we're doing? #edugladiators
A2: To be cognizant of the fact that your actions and reactions influence others. Making sure that your behaviors, choices, and communications stay true to your values in order to positively inspire others to mirror those actions. #EduGladiators
A2 To live with a legacy mindset means that we are focused on future generations - we are intentional about increasing the capacity of those who come after us, so they will pay-it-forward to enrich the organization's vision and success #edugladiators
A2. Always thinking long term. How do my actions today impact future students/people in general? You take no short cuts for personal gains. You simply put in the work! Which means you often take the path of “most” resistance. #EduGladiators
A2 Working with a legacy mindset means you are working for more than yourself. You want to make a difference and an impact that is for others. #EduGladiators

A1: As a principal, legacy is what you leave behind long after you are gone. How will we be remembered either as an instructional leader or teacher? What impact did we make in the lives of children? #EduGladiators
A2: A Legacy Mindset is leading in a way that will impact the present and the future. Thinking beyond what is currently needed to what will not only impact those now but how decisions and actions will impact the future. #edugladiators
A2) Legacy mindset is understanding that what you say and do impacts the people around you, whether that be students or fellow teachers, and acting accordingly. #edugladiators
A2. Always thinking long term. How do my actions today impact future students/people in general? You take no short cuts for personal gains. You simply put in the work! Which means you often take the path of “most” resistance. #EduGladiators
A2: I’m new to the idea of a legacy mindset as well. I believe it encompasses things beyond the 4 walls of school. That what you do, speak, and breath has a ripple effect. #EduGladiators
A2) Legacy mindset is understanding that what you say and do impacts the people around you, whether that be students or fellow teachers, and acting accordingly. #edugladiators

A2: legacy mindset, to me, is using the long term, big picture view of every decision. It pushes me to let go of my ego and think far beyond myself. #edugladiators
A3: The legacy that I would like to leave behind is to help others understand the power of belief as a competitive advantage. Words are important but how we make people feel will leave the most indelible impression. #EduGladiators
Q3) Choice: Respond to one or both of the following questions.
What is the legacy you want to leave behind? Why?
AND/OR
What 3 words would you want others to use to describe your legacy? #edugladiators
A2: IMO It means to live like you are changing the world one person at a time. Starting in the mirror. For good or bad.

#EduGladiators
Yes it has to be authentic! Your legacy will be built through being honest with yourself about who you are and what you stand for. It’s a compilation of multiple perspectives! #EduGladiators
A3: I will leave a legacy of knowing your value, that nobody can tell you what you're capable of, that your circumstances do not define you, but your actions & how you treat others do. This is what I teach my Ss & my own kids. It's how you leave a powerful legacy! #EduGladiators
As teachers we leave a lasting effect on so many that we will never know about. Having a #legacy mindset is thinking about that everyday.
#edugladiators
A2: I’m new to the idea of a legacy mindset as well. I believe it encompasses things beyond the 4 walls of school. That what you do, speak, and breath has a ripple effect. #EduGladiators
A2: For me, having a legacy mindset means I stay mindful of how what I’m doing today will impact others in the future. I’m choosing to act purposely with long range plans/hopes/dreams in mind for myself and those in my sphere of influence. #EduGladiators
A2: legacy mindset, to me, is using the long term, big picture view of every decision. It pushes me to let go of my ego and think far beyond myself. #edugladiators

A2) Legacy mindset is understanding that what you say and do impacts the people around you, whether that be students or fellow teachers, and acting accordingly. #edugladiators
A2: The Legacy Mindset means acting with the long term in mind. Not just end of semester, but end of years and career. What remains when you are no longer around to speak for yourself? What stories will be told about you? Will kids remember you at the reunion? #edugladiators
A3) I hope a part of my legacy will be a school culture that embraces learning & growth for all members of the community. If individuals grow, the organization grows...this is good for all members of the community. #EduGladiators
A3: I want to leave the legacy of empowerment. To do so, you have to build trust with people you interact with first. I want people to know I mean what I say, no double talk or politics...always focused on what’s best for kids! #EduGladiators

#edugladiators
Wise words from one of America’s greatest poets. It’s not about me but about making sure our children are prepared with the right tools to be successful in life. Every child deserves an opportunity just the same way I had mine. It’s always about them. #EduGladiators
Q3) Choice: Respond to one or both of the following questions.

A4: I must take care of myself to ensure I can continue to give to those in this world that need it the most. I'm on the path, but need to take time for myself & family. Self-care is key to ensuring that your legacy will grow & reach as many people as possible. #EduGladiators
A3: after I’m gone, I’m not sure what others would say about the legacy I left. But I will work now to have them say: grace-giving, courageous, & connected. #EduGladiators
A4) This is something that I will preach daily...L.O.V.E. your ppl. If you can do this & get your staff to do this for kids & colleagues, your positive influence will live on through others. As @sheehyrw would say, "Be the ONE!" for kids AND for your staff. #EduGladiators
A4 Listen more. Talk less. Believe in the fact that people are doing the best they can all of the time. Create bridges instead of barriers. Foster connections every day. Smile. Encourage all the time. #EduGladiators
Q4) What actions MUST you take to ensure your legacy is one that others will be motivated to continue breathing life into & passing onto the next generation? #EduGladiators

A4: Take care of yourself and allow time to refocus. When we get worn down and tired, when we get burned out...

#edugladiators
Q4) What actions MUST you take to ensure your legacy is one that others will be motivated to continue breathing life into & passing onto the next generation? #EduGladiators

A4: Wonderful question! I haven’t thought about this! I hope that the impact I make while I am here will be strong enough to carry on when I’m gone! The seeds planted today are the trees of tomorrow. #EduGladiators

A4 reflecting on yesterday to improve today and the future is key. Always striving to be better and do better than before. Pouring passion into all that I do or why do it all? #edugladiators
A3: I want to leave the legacy of positively impacting the lives of my Ss. I saw a former S of mine at Harris Teeter. He said “Hi Ms. Lee!” I taught him 8 years ago and he’s graduating from App State. It’s so humbling that he even remembers my name years later! #EduGladiators

Legacy is about leaving this place better than you found it. We all touch lives everyday. How we interact with one another determines if that impact is big or small, positive or negative. What are you leaving behind? How are you remembered? What/who did you build? #edugladiators

#edugladiators I love these kids like they are my own. My heartbreaks when they mess up. I rejoice when they succeed. I want them to know that anything is possible. They can make their dreams come true. They can build a better community/world/culture.

My hope is when I see a former student, teacher, colleague, friend , family member lead for change , give back in service, be brave enough to distrupt, that a small part of you lives on in them. #EduGladiators
