I'm at home, had a busy week
Hi. I'm Julie. LMS & public library director from Wirt County HS.
Anything new for librarians? Hoping to get into Ebooks this year
Q1: Rate your level of comfort with the idea of an on a scale of 1 (What’s an ?) to 5 (I take part weekly)
I've learned some cool stuff about Office 365!
I'm Katie! Adult Ed and ESL instructor at the Adult Learning Center at MTEC in Monongalia County.
A1: 5! I'm in edchats for and nearly every week!
A1: Truth be told, this time last year, I was a 1, but now I am absolutely a 5! (and others) rocks!
I have trouble remembering all the great chats. Especially in summer.
Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, TN. It was awesome!!
killing it with content overcome your fears -- use social media!!!
https://t.co/1P5uc8ekgh
A1 5 I feel comfortable, but don’t often attend during the school year because I am so tired by 8pm sad but true
Fear of edchats ? Come participate in a live one and get support in Waterfront A!
Good morning to & from Kanawha County!
A1: 4. I try to show up as much as possible.
A1: (Continued) I read them weekly but have yet to participate... Maybe I should pick up the slack on my end.
A1: I join when I'm able.
I think the time has come!!!!! Join in!
Good morning! Glad to have some joining from outside
That's totally understandable! I'm usually taking care of our child while moderates.
Social media: a place to highlight the positive. Don't say anything online anything you wouldn't say in person.

Q1: Rate your level of comfort with the idea of an on a scale of 1 (What’s an ?) to 5 (I take part weekly)
Q2: What barriers to do you feel prevent educators from taking part in an ?
A1 Easily a 5-gr8 way to grow professionally
Handsome? Yeah right... LOL He isn't his older brother!
A2: Educators feel very intimidated by Twitter. They also are busy at night with family.
Great tips! If only we could get everyone involved in DigiCit
Social media. Privacy settings are vital!! Understand the consequences of your choices
A2: Life, speed of chat, uncertainty of how to edchat!
A2: Not knowing that it's an option. Comfort level with Twitter. Fear of breaking Twitter protocol. Time.
A2: People feel they do not need to work at being a better educator outside of their school hours
A2: Internet connections.
A2: People feel like they do enough already during work hours
A2: I can say that personally I didn't understand how Twitter worked and didn't even know such things as existed!
A2 Confusion about the format, can’t keep up, doing it wrong
A2 family time and work at home. Also don't know the benefits
A2: Ignorance in the aids like Tweetdeck & Participate. I'm still trying to figure this out.
A2 bedtime for the kiddos and lack of memory ;-)
Glad that you know now and can join in. If you are focusing on growth and moving forward, there is no reason for fear!
A2 Kids, travel, life...time Still make it as much as possible
There you go again! Hope to see you soon!
A2: Overwhelmed with the day....
A2: Kids....live......husbands doing the chat. :) (just playing)
A1: 5. I love my online PLN!
Understanding social media allows you to meet students where they are when they show up in your classroom.
I can understand, it is Derek...
Thanks! I always found Twitter kind of obnoxious and opted for other social media outlets. This is more useful.:)
Glad to stop by anytime! I ❤️
New tools make more beneficial https://t.co/ioGIc1mWLI
A2: Ignorance in the aids like Tweetdeck & Participate. I'm still trying to figure this out.
That is what we are here for. Let us know if we can help.
A2: Some Ts are scared to try something new. They don't realize the value of extending their PLNs!
yep I thought Twitter was the place where celebrities said that they bought a banana at the store
I think they all moved to Instagram now, so they can show a picture of the banana
Q3: Should an be counted as PD towards statute requirements?
A1: 5...I have been doing it from the start. Some weeks I miss, I love that I can # and read what I missed https://t.co/owglN0zyVC
Q1: Rate your level of comfort with the idea of an on a scale of 1 (What’s an ?) to 5 (I take part weekly)
A3: Absolutely! Jackson County is now on board with that!
Me too! https://t.co/3WSyre90Ap
yep I thought Twitter was the place where celebrities said that they bought a banana at the store
A3: Absolutely. If you are giving up your personal time, to enrich your teaching, you should receive credit.
A3: Yes! I learn more in edchats than in school meetings/PLCs. Everyone wants to be there so contributions are better!
A3 If we are taking our own time and are learning and growing as an educator YES!
A3: Oh absolutely! I wish Logan Co. would let me do this instead of those stupid Safe Schools videos.
A3: I think it should, but some districts are probably just too backwards
Educators r now taking over twitter! Just have to follow the right people
A3: It should but my county has specific ce days.
The value of the relationships built via SM can't be experienced vicariously. Important to engage, & cultivate the Rs.
A3 Yes, are always learning & should receive credit for PD https://t.co/JIr90EcAkC
Q3: Should an be counted as PD towards statute requirements?
A3: Sure why not. That is a lot of hours you have to fill.
A3: Possibly. Being in Adult Ed and subject to their PD requirements, I think they might consider it as elective credit w/proof.
I look forward to connecting in the future.
A3: PD from an is a game changer for EDUs to gain PD that is personalized
You can only break it if you drop it. Try social media! You might be surprised at the resources out there! You can do it!
A3: Yes and also as PLC/PLN too
A:3 Yes. Question is how can I document it?
I have learned so much this past year from others on Twitter
Choose strong passwords when using & online tools
I see at the top you can create a transcript. Maybe that would help?
Get a copy of the transcript from Participate Learn
storify or participate Learning site both are ways to pull the transcript.
A3 The value of should b recognized by counties but it shld b more than a number on a sheet at the end of the year.
A3: Absolutely! It's a way of individualizing PD for Ts!
A3. The chats need to have clear topics. Wvde hat does a great job with that.
Q4: How likely would it be for you to take part in another ? Rate 1 (not likely) to 5 (very likely).
A4: 5, once I finish moving and getting settled
A4: 5, Unless my brother makes me mad...
A4: 3 (time being the main limiting factor)
KCS gave credit once by seeing who was in the and adding a course in the online system.
A5: 5! This session has helped!!!! Thanks
A4 5 This is a great community
A4:5 I love all my wvedchat buddies
A4 5 Take the time to learn process & value the opportunity https://t.co/xNkRowYM0i
Q4: How likely would it be for you to take part in another ? Rate 1 (not likely) to 5 (very likely).
Thanks for helping me during this session!
Thanks Elaine! We're working to improve that as we get more organized.
A4 I'm going to go with a 3. It will help me if I can attend on Tuesday while this is fresh on my mind
Welcome, that's exactly why we wanted to do this today.
5. I will check for topics and try to take part at least once a month.
Great! We look forward to having you join us again!
A4: 5 (when not sitting in another class) SQUIRREL! Hashtag bad participant
Unrelated, can you follow any hashtag with Participate Learning? Or is there other admin/setup involved to integrate it?
Dropping & follow these gals! They're tremendous professionals!

Q5: Would you be interested in moderating/planning a session of in the future?
I am down... Let's make this happen
A5: If I am allowed to hit my brother with a pool noodle, sure
I'm in Kanawha Co. now, but I'm from Logan too. You were a couple years ahead of me at LHS!
A5: Yes. Already have a couple under my belt :)
A5: Not the near future! :-) Maybe later. I appreciate the work of others in this role, though.
Q5 Sure but my wheelhouse is DigiCit and you already have the amazing
Q5: Once I get familiar with it.
Because isn't paying attention.... ;) https://t.co/gyvptiUiox
I think and should duel out their issues with 's light saber noodles...
If you're not posting positive, stuff, how are people supposed to know what awesome stuff is happening in your classroom?
Jason's first title is learner. I'm sure he'll support Penny :)
A5: I would down the road, still trying to master the thanks for the info!

I am interested in hosting a wvedchat. I will get back on a date and topic.
A5: Considering I just joined twitter 30 minutes ago it may take me a little bit until I'm comfortable moderating haha!
I'm sure there is enough to go around!
A5: I am interested in hosting a wvedchat. I will get back on a date and topic.
A5: I am interested in hosting a wvedchat. I will get back on a date and topic.
A5: I find moderating is easier than creating the topics/questions
I have deleted Twitter from my phone half a dozen times over the years. I am going to commit to learning more, too.:)
