Last school day of 2017 for me today. I'm having Whipple surgery tomorrow to remove part of my pancreas. This is due to an IPMN tumor that produces mucus that must be removed. #bfc530

My students write essays about their neighborhoods every year, but this year I taught them how to write in direct address (e.g. directly to a river, park, neighbor). I almost didnโt because I was afraid they wouldnโt get it, but they do! And the essays are excellent! #bfc530
I demonstrated a dashboard I created to view course enrollment data paired with student demographics and equity data. Someone in the room described it as "life changing" #bfc530

It's been a great couple weeks -- in the classroom, girls are nearing the end of their interdisciplinary projects on African countries and can talk about them WITHOUT notes :) outside of that, I'm excited to have secured 26 projects on & off campus for MLK Day of Service! #bfc530

Second grader (old enough to be a third grader) is coming in before school for extra help learning to read. She is now reading 1st grade books fluently! She was formerly homeschooled and could not read at age 8. #bfc530

Yes. I use our SIS data for some of the ESOL applications I support, so when our school system started digging into equity, creating a way to easily view enrollment was a worthwhile project. #bfc530

Morning, #bfc530. Shared ~10 new titles w/students that @boulderbooks had generously donated as part of annual school-district event. Asked students to assess whether to include these volumes in class library. Nine out of 10 approved, 3 borrowed same day.
