Join the Collaborative Professional Development movement! Every month, Jennifer Williams and Participate invite you to share how you are incorporating blended learning tools and ideas derived from other educators into your instruction and professional development. This chat is great if you are new to Twitter, or a seasoned social media maven. Ultimately, it’s about empowerment and self-discovery through the expansion of personal learning networks, and the ability to blend in voices, concepts and tools from all over the world.

A1: Ss and Ts need to exhibit a positive attitude as much as possible, then it will be contagious throughout the classroom. Positive attitudes can create a positive and collective change: smiling, celebrating each other, helping without being asked, etc. #collaborativePD

Hi all. Kristen from PA. I teach 6th grade science. And I organized a secret Santa for the staff at my school, and it makes me so happy that they are enjoying it. #CollaborativePD

A1: To #SparkEmpathy & be a part of collective change, one needs to focus on kindness, understanding, collaboration, acceptance, and responsibility. We have to all realize we play a role in creating that change. #edtech4good#CollaborativePD

A2 #CollaborativePD#edtech4good I am always thinking of ways to share. When we have the courage to share our story, even a part of it, we model risk taking and open ourselves up to having our perspective challenged and inspired.. @EmpaticoOrg
A2: Everyone, regardless of age, wants to be included, accepted, loved and happy. These feelings are easy to maintain if you truly invest in those around you. Ask more questions than you answer, offer to help, truly be present. #CollaborativePD
A2: Social Media can help. It connects educators to a larger community full of exciting ideas. One great idea often unpiresvsnd creates a chain of more ideas. #edtech4good#CollaborativePD
A2: If Ts are excited about what they teach, then Ss will be excited! It's simple! If Ss don't see their T enjoying their job, then why would Ss want to make them proud or copy their example? #nospark! It's easy to make positive habits contagious: be positive! #collaborativePD
Thanks Jen! Glad to be here! Crazy thing is I was meeting with some of my teachers today showing them how to get on a chat and we were talking about you, @EmpaticoOrg and @participate ! #edtech4good#collaborativePD

A2: Positive energy in education is what fuels & inspires others with ideas, encouragement, & connection. It can lead to a ripple effect!! #edtech4good#CollaborativePD
We often use #edtech4good to share out the little moments with the world. How can we use these same principles to spark collective change in the way we approach #CollaborativePD?
Question influenced by @SabrinaOyola’s reflections:
So true. And it can make you realize there's a big community out there of educators working for positive change. Inspiring. #edtech4good#CollaborativePD

A1: Trust. Vulnerability. Empathy. The ability to truly listen to someone. To truly be there for someone. Find out their love language and speak to it. Avoid negativity and find solutions... #CollaborativePD

Question influenced by @SabrinaOyola’s reflections:
A2: In my case it starts from the top. I make it a point to show up every day and bring the energy so others (teachers, parents, and students) feed off of it! #edtech4good#CollaborativePD
A2: I saw a student who was carrying a lined notebook covered in sketches. I asked if she had a journal w/o lines. She said no, so I gave her a little art starter kit. For abt a wk straight before class started, she showed me a new drawing she did. #CollaborativePD

A3-keep celebrating the little things with #collaborativepd Celebrating makes things seem more possible; especially the little things. I know after reading some of the smaller things I think to myself, I can do that! #edtech4good

Question influenced by @SabrinaOyola’s reflections:
A3: in smaller terms- locally- we hope to share, allow students to shine and spark arts advocacy by using our district tag #PISDcreatesart every time we share student art! #collaborativePD#edtech4good
A3: We need to see SM as a powerful platform to spark positive change! My Ss saw this first hand when we did the #KindnessBucketList Challenge back in November! They were amazed at how many classes joined in bc of one tweet! #edtech4good#CollaborativePD
. A3: This reminds me of bite-sized PD tweets I’ve seen- little snippets shared that I can mull over w/out being overwhelmed. #CollaborativePD#edtech4good

Question influenced by @SabrinaOyola’s reflections:
A1: The little thing that inspires empathy for me is taking the time out of your day to really listen to what kids want to share with you, especially if they have stressors from home #CollaborativePD#edtech4good
A3: Why not conduct PD in the same manner that we conduct Circles in the classroom? Everyone wants their voice "heard" or their idea taken into thought. Sharing what works/doesn't work in a judgement free zone makes all the difference! #positivepd#collaborativePD#sparkempathy

A3 don’t be afraid to shout out what we’re learning from the rooftops. The haters are gonna hate no matter what you say. But those “uncertainers!?” Those are the ones who you will hook into the greatness..#CollaborativePD

A3b: My colleagues pretend to be tired of me talking about #tlap, but I know deep down they are saying, “please keep talking.” Ok, maybe not. But I know I’ve sparked an interest, especially since I love my job so much.... it does make the “uncertainers” think. #CollaborativePD

#CollaborativePD#edtech4good@EmpaticoOrg I think about change being a way to grow, an opportunity to think from a different perspective and think about possibilities..So the energy in education can be contagious through the way we share our interpretation of the dance.. A2
Share with our colleagues what we are doing in our classrooms and be willing to assist others who are struggling to learn the tech. Have an open door policy where other teachers can come watch you teach while you are literally using the technology. #CollaborativePD#tech4good
