A4: giving Ss time and trusting their journey of the process allows for their connections. It’s about them! #adechat
  • myakSTEM Nov 14 @ 9:31 PM EST
A4. Teachers have to know what standards they are assessing so they can make sure the creativity leads to learning. Like so many said earlier. Using descriptions to explain the artifacts keeps it all on point. #ADEchat
  • KarrinBurns Nov 14 @ 9:32 PM EST

    In reply to @KarrinBurns
  • MaestroJeremyF Nov 14 @ 9:33 PM EST
A4: I think setting clear expectations at the start of the lesson will help Ss understand what the final artifact is all about and how it is connected to what they learned. If the student can explain that to other Ss or Ps even better #adechat
  • jdeinhammer Nov 14 @ 9:34 PM EST
everything is better with magic move :) #adechat
    In reply to @nhsdwelch, @BenMountz
  • JennyGrabiec Nov 14 @ 9:34 PM EST
A4: Standards are still important. Start with the objectives and weave projects like these into your instructional design. Start with why. #adechat
  • KristenBrooks77 Nov 14 @ 9:34 PM EST
A4 I like the idea of using this with famous history figures and what they might have been thinking at the time-then have SS present to peers their reasons for choosing the shapes. #ADEchat
  • myakSTEM Nov 14 @ 9:35 PM EST
Agreed. The "Why" is so important. #ADEChat
    In reply to @JennyGrabiec
  • AprilRequard Nov 14 @ 9:35 PM EST
A4: I think so many of you answered this question through the other questions. I love the screen recording idea. Really reaching in to understand the Ss thinking process allows for that clear connection to learning. #ADEchat
  • BenMountz Nov 14 @ 9:35 PM EST
Between magic move in Keynote, and the line draw function, the students have a very powerful automation tool with very little experience required #ADEchat
  • ms_carbone Nov 14 @ 9:35 PM EST
A4: isn’t part of creativity of this learning the ins and outs of Keynote itself? I mean come on best app ever! #keynotelove #tech #adechat
  • cicohen Nov 14 @ 9:36 PM EST
A4: Plan backwards and start with the purpose of the learning and then think about how a project like this (and other methods of showing understanding) will help you know if Ss achieved the purpose. #ADEchat
  • traintheteacher Nov 14 @ 9:36 PM EST
a4. #adechat - make friends with your curriculum, use clear co-constructed success criteria and don't neglect the underlying attitudes and skills to learning. What a student says or how they say it can reveal a lot.

Cool. You caught that. I was wondering who would be first 😎 #ADEChat
    In reply to @jdeinhammer

Yes and... Ss then can apply that knowledge in other projects where they have a choice in how to create! #adechat
  • traintheteacher Nov 14 @ 9:39 PM EST
I find thinking hard at the start of the school year about what tech skills the kids might need to show understanding is important. #adechat

I agree! Backward design is the way to go! We love to have Ss creating every day! The iPad allows for so many more opportuities! #adechat
    • danvkoch Nov 14 @ 9:36 PM EST
A4 plan backwards. Start with task, fold in tech as needed. Shift from “we are doing an iPad lesson today” to “we are demonstrating understanding this way today.” #ADEChat

I knew mine needed to know how to take a decent picture, add images to apps, share to the cloud. However I'm mindful to teach them to 'read' the ipad icons rather than 'know' the app #adechat

  • BenMountz Nov 14 @ 9:42 PM EST
A5: With the ability to use shape templates, or draw your own shapes, Keynote gives us ownership over our graphics. We don’t need to worry about intellectual property issues over “googled” images. We can create all our own! #ADEchat
