A1) We signal in the formation/Motion and use our band numbering system for play
-
A1: A coach on the sideline signals play & formation to the skill kids, the QB then gives the OL 1 word for direction & scheme
-
A1: For defense, we use a soccer substitution board. Has two colors (red, green) and can put in any numbers we want.
-
John Mitchell DBs Midwest City HS Midwest City OK. What's the deal pickles?!!!
-
A1: Offense WR or TE take them and signals Defense signals & Arm Bands https://t.co/0UyAhLaz0T
-
-
Q1: How do you send the play call to your players on the field?
-
A1) our players have wristbands. We use colors blue(point @ sky) green(grass) red(sleeve) white(sleeve) then signal #'s
-
A1: One signaler to skill guys- Formation/Play/Tags etc.... OL coach signals stuff line needs to know. Fake posters.
-
Q1 RT -->Q1: How do you send the play call to your players on the field? https://t.co/p5g9dr76Ip
-
-
Q1: How do you send the play call to your players on the field?
-
A1: we still huddle but we signal in play to QB. https://t.co/QgCvf1Keae
-
-
Q1: How do you send the play call to your players on the field?
-
A1 up tempo offense, coded our plays with team names and just yelled it to them. Went so fast the other team couldn't decode
-
A1: 4 boards, 1 w/ colors, 1 w/numbers, 1 w/words, 1 w/cartoons
-
A1) also signal in formations from sidelines
-
A1) I've used Hand Signals and Pictures (Laminated Posters)
-
LOVE THIS! https://t.co/bssIPZKoQj
-
-
A1 up tempo offense, coded our plays with team names and just yelled it to them. Went so fast the other team couldn't decode
-
A1: OL has different band and only look for color/number
-
-
A1) been apart of wristbands, signals & yelling it in. I think I like yellin it
-
Q2: After receiving the play call, how do the on-field players communicate to each other?
-
wow! Does each speak to a different position?
-
Q2 RT -->Q2: After receiving the play call, how do the on-field players communicate to each other? https://t.co/LWV2SBGZOL
-
-
Q2: After receiving the play call, how do the on-field players communicate to each other?
-
would love to learn this!
-
A1 we signal in formation and personnel. Play calls are in the huddle. Yea we huddle.
-
A1:We go the opp. way with tempo. we can go no huddle we prefer huddle take time off clock for opponent https://t.co/6CzGCQszE3
-
-
A1: A coach on the sideline signals play & formation to the skill kids, the QB then gives the OL 1 word for direction & scheme
-
-
A2: QB tells the OL, OL will make calls that determine direction of pass pro, or who folds, etc
-
A1 Parcells & Giants approach and what Denver did this year https://t.co/6CzGCQszE3
-
-
A1: A coach on the sideline signals play & formation to the skill kids, the QB then gives the OL 1 word for direction & scheme
-
1 is formation, color and number are play on the band, cartoon is the players on the field
-
A2 when we yelled in the play, the players would echo it across the field. Doesn't matter who hears it
-
A2: QBs-->WRs ALL signals (bands/crowds too loud)..OL-->OL Code Words/Fake Codes... QB--->OL must run up/codes
-
A2 OL make calls with RB. QB/WR have non verbal communication
-
A2: skill guys check band/ OL reads band then makes appropriate calls for blocking
-
Coach Potter, Oklahima City. Sorry I'm a little late this evening
-
A2: All players look at light board and find the corresponding number/color on their wristbands.
-
huddled with the youngins, we still sent the play in the same way. https://t.co/SMYNnrpCXM
-
-
A1 we signal in formation and personnel. Play calls are in the huddle. Yea we huddle.
-
Kenneth McClamrock, East Rowan, NC
-
A2) FS calls Secondary Strength and coverage, MLB calls strength, WLB calls formation. Run checks if they have too.
-
Josh Faure - HC Northern Raiders (HS equivalent) AUSTRALIA
-
Q3: How has fast tempo offenses impacted your play-calling and terminology?
-
A1 we mix it up between signals and just yelling the coded play in .. probably will signal formation, yell play this year
-
A2 QB will tell OL play/blocking scheme, everything else is non verbal communication
-
A2: Off in huddle or on ball by QB. Def 5 with bands make call & others echo https://t.co/UlZGB3ri90
-
-
Q2: After receiving the play call, how do the on-field players communicate to each other?
-
A3: Its made us look for ways to reduce verbage...Skill gets two signals, 1 formation, 1 play, OL gets a word..lets go
-
Somewhat off topic but huddle doesn't have to mean slow. I've averaged nearly 80 plays a game while huddling.
-
A2: Defensively we echo the call across the field especially in the secondary.
-
A1) Defense: Signal, front, cover, tag
-
A3 it has reduced the play verbiage significantly, literally 2 words for an entire play now
-
A3: We keep it short and sweet. One word plays, adjust formation at line. The light board allows us to go faster.
-
so does the word also imply formation? or do you stay in a certain formation each series?
-
A3 defensively we now just yell numbers to them if we want a blitz (zone blitz team) and a code word for coverage
-
A2) Def: Echo, Mike to box, Safeties to back 5
-
A3: Use "Money" as your Go-To Play. Easy to signal/Have code words (Dollar, Peso) & kids love it! Ex: IZ= Money. 💰
-
Exactly...Martin High in Texas huddles close to the ball, breaks it fast, lines up and snaps fast https://t.co/rADniBlEFf
-
-
Somewhat off topic but huddle doesn't have to mean slow. I've averaged nearly 80 plays a game while huddling.
-
does not. We still yelled out deuce, trips right, trips left etc.
-
Keith Mora- Danbury HS (OH)
-
A3: simplified and forced to teach o & d so they can make correct calls if necessary https://t.co/NXBOYO6QfA
-
-
Q3: How has fast tempo offenses impacted your play-calling and terminology?
-
will you change formations each play? Or will you stick with a certain set until a change is necessary?
-
A3: pretty much roll with the boards we also have dummy plays to check and make changes before the snap
-
A3) defense: auto front checks@ give the FS to check coverage, O: tighten up call, 4 word max
-
A3) Keep it simple on defense with communication and whatever you run make it easily adjustable so you can line up & play fast
-
A3- Defensively find ways to use 1-2 words that allow you to stunt, blitz and assign coverage
-
Q4: Do you have a protocol for coach to coach communication over the headsets?
-
A4 give all my coaches a play sheet, and tell them the number. Can't do a lot of talking.
-
-
A2: Last year our OL was banded and listened for call from specific coach while skills got hand signs
-
a1: Players have wristbands...we signal formation and play on wristband.
-
Q4 RT -->Q4: Do you have a protocol for coach to coach communication over the headsets? https://t.co/IyFREoBst0
-
-
Q4: Do you have a protocol for coach to coach communication over the headsets?
-
A4: O guy and D guy up top. I don't wear one, probably not good for everyone to hear my French. A coach relays d front to me
-
Moving to coaches talking to each other now!
-
A3: in r no huddle r QB makes play decision on ball. We set formation for him then looks & runs r Veer https://t.co/NXBOYO6QfA
-
-
Q3: How has fast tempo offenses impacted your play-calling and terminology?
-
Does throwing them count as protocol? https://t.co/rdpashIgmp
-
-
Q4: Do you have a protocol for coach to coach communication over the headsets?
-
A1: Last year we used 4 coaches: Form/motion hand signal; Play hand signal; Tempo board; verbal signal to OL
-
A4: Not so much a protocol, just divided up headsets O&D staff...don't talk over the play call...don't take anything personal
-
A1 con't: Players read coaches L to R. Had very few issues getting plays in. OL never looked they just got lined up fast!
-
A3: Can't huddle on D with no huddle O. All D guys have to get 👀 to sideline and get call. Secondary echoes call to each other
-
https://t.co/17E6Oy4cmQ
-
-
A4 when using a freeze count would have my OL guy tell me the front up from up stairs to call my run game, or coverages.
-
Jalani Lord Seminole Ridge H.S OC Loxahatchee FL
-
Cuz I protocol like crazy then.
-
A3: putting a lot of control in FS to roll coverages and make checks on field.
-
a4: Don't really have one. I communicate with the coaches on what play calls and I ask what they see https://t.co/ytMma0Xd3B
-
-
Q4: Do you have a protocol for coach to coach communication over the headsets?
-
A4: No play calling my non OC/DC Tell OC & DC what U see & answer questions. Box follow pre game ?s https://t.co/aPQRsKJUea
-
-
Q4: Do you have a protocol for coach to coach communication over the headsets?
-
A4 OC was yelling in plays during series. I would track def front, blitz, and number of safeties. We would relay info when on D
-
A3. We have code words for all our plays
-
Exactly! Eye control/discipline starts with eyes to the sideline
-
Q5: When your unit is on the field, how do you communicate to the other coaches?
-
-
Q5 RT -->Q5: When your unit is on the field, how do you communicate to the other coaches? https://t.co/iXpWnWB7TH
-
-
Q5: When your unit is on the field, how do you communicate to the other coaches?
-
-
A5: have my guy beside me and we talk then he relays up top. They relay down to HC. I have to stand away from everyone to see
-
A4) Each guy is assigned his own duty for what he is doing & watching for so do your job & have an answer when your called upon
-
A5 don't usually talk, focus on play calling, listen for info I give them to look for in pregame/game plan.
-
A4: when offense is off field pos. Coaches will give feedback to OC for some keys that they saw. Ex: DE alignment etc.
-
-
A5: Mostly I'm asking for more run plays...
-
Best way to do it https://t.co/QpSBPF9XLC
-
-
A1: A coach on the sideline signals play & formation to the skill kids, the QB then gives the OL 1 word for direction & scheme
-
A5: try and use Echo so I can immediately relay what's going on and where the holes are
-
A4. Our coaches will communicate fronts and changes in their defensive personnel...we try to track differences in front on D&D
-
A5: When I am calling O or QB is running the no huddle. Say nothing unless asked. In the Zone!
-
A1 We use a runner or the QB will come over to me, No huddle will be called out with either a letter or a number
-
the sideline replay system?
-
Q6: When your unit is off the field, how do you communicate to the other coaches?
-
yes I know certain things aren't legal in Texas. Heck we still don't use it like its made for.
-
A4) minimal talk when DEF on the field listen for call & coach your position between plays & talk about adjustments as needed
-
A6: I will talk with the coach upstairs regarding the front & where they're lining up...talk whats good with the OC (more runs)
-
Q6 RT -->Q6: When your unit is off the field, how do you communicate to the other coaches? https://t.co/wsplDLBlDF
-
-
Q6: When your unit is off the field, how do you communicate to the other coaches?
-
A2 They will pass the formation call down the line, If it's on the band call out the band #
-
A6) Walk down, usually scratching my head, ya know since my headset is "off". Talk a little bit, pick up my headset,
-
-
A6: I want to talk to my ol coach about what we're seeing up front. Run game #1 priority https://t.co/ZhHOSJtw0E
-
-
Q6: When your unit is off the field, how do you communicate to the other coaches?
-
A5) Minimal talk when DEF on the field listen for call, coach your position between plays and suggest adjustments as needed
-
This is a nominee for answer of the night https://t.co/zZQXF7ahCL
-
-
A6) Walk down, usually scratching my head, ya know since my headset is "off". Talk a little bit, pick up my headset,
-
A6: the OC is HC so mostly me communicating to my OL on front blitzes holes weak kids etc
-
A6:15 to 20 secs to tell me what U see & ideas. 10 to 20 secs answer my ??? As HFC help DC after with eyes only
-
-
talk to my eyes in sky make him write notes during series tell me between Then ask HC what he wants more of
-
A4 If you're not the HC or a Coor, don't talk unless asked a question. https://t.co/ZL08cKYn13
-
-
Q4: Do you have a protocol for coach to coach communication over the headsets?
-
A3 I try to trim the play calls as much as possible, however some times it makes it difficult to get all needed info out
-
A6) When defense is off the field talk about adjustments, what's working and what needs to be thrown out
-
A1 we use one coach to signal in formation, another to signal in play. We've been experimenting with no huddle
-
Q7: How concerned are you about signals or play calls being stolen, and how do you combat it?
-
A6: R system I & Flex Veer & 4-4 X & staff together for 10 + yrs effective Communication has developed https://t.co/uMBepQHwZ2
-
-
Q6: When your unit is off the field, how do you communicate to the other coaches?
-
I like to know fronts, blitzes, coverage...what they see from up there for any info to relay to the specific position groups
-
Q7: welcome it because we point all the time and very few times are we actually specific and we change it weekly lol
-
A7: I don't really care...If they're worried about what we're saying, they're missing their own calls
-
A6: I like to know fronts, blitzes, coverage...what they see from up top for any info to relay to the specific position groups
-
A7) O was so fast this year, to steal the word, then relay the info back to the kids. you just don't have that time plus RPO
-
A7 we have several code names for each play, formation, audible. Very concerned. Kids are savvy.
-
A7 not worried if you're trying to steal my signals you're slow in response to my plays, KEEP UP!
-
A7: Kids LOL opponents know what is coming & still cant succeed. Execution & Chemistry = easy calls https://t.co/PEjE1ep4bL
-
-
Q7: How concerned are you about signals or play calls being stolen, and how do you combat it?
-
A7) Defense: Don't care, in theory we are sound in everything, it's about execution,
-
A4 Not really, In between plays/After series im asking for how they lined up/what happened other than that it should be quite
-
like to think I have my kids so prepared that I don't care if they know the play, still have to stop it.
-
A7: if you can use your tempo. If they're trying to pick you off they likely won't have time to get set
-
A7: not concerned at all due to the time it takes to relay the info to the defense...we're lined up ready to run another play
-
A7: Try and signal as late as I can after O call is sent to help prevent being stolen. Have dummy calls also.
-
A7. If the tempo is fast no coach is worried about signals..12 secs & snap. Make it a standard
-
A7) signals & code names for fronts, blitzes, stunts and coverages haven't ran into anyone who has been able to decrypt both
-
A7 worries me if former coach from our staff on other side or dist. opponent we've seen a lot https://t.co/HxcyZTGTvT
-
-
Q7: How concerned are you about signals or play calls being stolen, and how do you combat it?
-
-
-
A6 Last year i was in the box, so i would call out O scheme or if certain things were out of wack in between D play call
-
-
Do we all want to talk strength and conditioning tomorrow night? 8PM CST,
