As a parent I'm gonna throw out there that I wish there were more ed options for kids in summer. 1/2

Q1: What tops your summer to-do list in terms of your own professional practice?

Thanks! It is, just been our first real hot summer weekend

A1: Start creating a library of videos for my Geometry classes
-
A1:Attending conferences for PD, and reading books to gain more knowledge, and continue to grow my PLN and learn from them
-
This summer my main focus is going to be on improving my communication, particularly as it relates to coaching conversations.

Another area of focus will be on structuring targeted literacy strategies for all staff to access and integrate.

Lastly, I will be working on improving 6th grade transition and continuing to maintain our focus on kids.

Q2: What methods do you personally use to reflect upon your professional practice during the summer?

A2: Lots of personal conversations. I tend to like to think out loud and bounce a lot of ideas off of others.

A1: Learning ways to foster more creativity in the classroom. individualize projects so they should never look the same.

A2: Look at what was successful and unsuccessful, for success, looked to improve, unsuccessful, look for fixes or alternatives

A2: Read, read, read...No time during school year. Attend PD and engage more with PLN.

a2. I blog, vox and try to free up some blank space in my head. As if there isn't enough already.

A2: I work out a lot of problems while fishing and just hanging out. Breakfast with colleagues, that kind of stuff.

A2: Check out what worked well and what didn't. Fix the stuff that didn't, improve the stuff that did. Look for different PD opps
-
A2: I do a lot of reading in the summer. I fill up quite a few legal pads with ideas. Mostly bad ideas.

Q3: How do you stay connected to school and/or professional colleagues during the summer months?

A3: PLN twitter chats and following , voxer, and going to PD

A3: Twitter, cocktails, Voxer, breakfasts, telephone calls, personal invites to a quality conversation, more cocktails ...

a3. Voxer, edcamps, Facebook, Twitter, blogs and in person meet ups.

A1 Several PD books (Story: heart of literacy is 1st) & scholastic reading summit

A3: As a leader it's important to know individual staff members' back story, just as it's important for T's to know S's stories.

Q4: Who in your professional life challenges your thinking the most?

A3 Twitter, Voxer for book groups, good old fashioned emails and hopefully lunches to chat about PD books

A4: challenges me daily, learning from her a daily basis makes me a better admin and educator

A4: There are some many awesome educators in my PLN that impact my thinking and help me learn and improve.

Q5: What non-school related activities guide your ongoing personal growth?

A5:Family, being able to unwind and disconnect from school each day really helps

A5: Music, reading, trying new stuff. Anything that leads me to think more deeply and increases my capacity to care for others.
