A1I got connected with other educators on Twitter. It was one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. I have learned so much from my PLN #3rdchat
A1: Having a student teacher changed me as a teacher. It drove me to always strive for more for my Ss and myself. Moving to a new building has been an opportunity to build upon that motivation to get out of my box and take risks. #3rdchat
A1: I spent a lot of time making small shifts like @JoyKirr talked with us about in our #ShiftThis chat. Too often I jump in full force. I tried to be more mindful and think through my shifts in 2017. #3rdchat
A1: Implimented more student-centered teaching practices. Less time in front of class. More time in small groups and conferencing. Students collaborating more and taking responsibility for their learning. #3rdchat
A2 I started a blog focused on reflecting about my teaching practice. It was a real step outside of my comfort zone so I am proud for even attempting. I also participated in the Innovative Teaching Academy and learned so much! #3rdchat
A1: I switched to 3rd from middle school this year. Talk about change! I had to relearn my strengths and passion, and it has kept me motivated! #3rdchat
Hello! I am a little late...Autumn from Newton, Ks. Spent winter break relaxing and refreshing to tackle the next half of the year with some great kiddos! #3rdchat
A1: I changed grades to better suit my tech training & am constantly looking to improve through math PD, collaboration & professional reading. #3rdchat
A2: I made a goal to incorporate more meaningful technology into my room and I definitely have made strides. Utilizing @Seesaw has been a life changer! #3rdchat
Used different means of assessing based on Ss needs. Plan to do more with better purpose & give Ss more autonomy. Jumped in & tried PBL project #3rdchat
A2: Becoming a #3rdchat co-moderator has taught be so much and given me may strategies to implement in my classroom. Integrating @Seesaw has been my favorite aspect of teaching during 2017.
It was a 12 week course - 6 units focusing on #FlippedLearning (blended for me), project based learning, visual literacy and much more! This cohort is the reason why I use twitter now. #3rdchat
A2: I've started to do #MysterySkype, @flipgrids, and other collaborations with teachers from across the country, like being Penpals with @MissBrooten's class in New Jersey! #3rdchat
A2: Remembering that starting slow with new ideas is more manageable has been huge for me. I am less overwhelmed and kids benefit more in the end #3rdchat
A2: Committed to answering constructed response questions in Math. Ss are creating models, equations, & summaries. Lots of iteration. Made math a “team sport.” Ss working through productive struggle. Pay off=Students told me they love math. #3rdchat
Hopping in late... Aimee from Nebraska A1: I’m part of a BlendEd learning cohort, grateful for the connections made through that group and my students benefitting greatly from this change! #3rdchat
Yes. Primarily for in class assignments/projects. About 8/28 students have access outside of school...So, I'm trying to make it more of a blended learning instead of flipped. #3rdchat
A2: Really building relationships with Ss, using #LearnLAP strategies to empower Ss, integrating meaningful tech & truly finding JOY in my passion for teaching😊#3rdchat
Very much so! Last year was my first year in 3rd and with a chrome cart and I needed to do something to feel like I was providing instruction in a meaningful way. #3rdchat
A3: Just finished @Seesaw Ambassador training over break and presented with my teammate at a district level inservice today. Next item is to learn more about how to app smash. I really want to work on better organization and integration of new ideas. #3rdchat
A3: I would like to solidify the things I am doing rather than introduce anything new right now. Also continue enforcing empathy and growth mindset with my Ss #3rdchat
A3: I'm hoping to attend another tech conference this year and partake in a few webinars. Hopefully I can encourage some of my staff to join me. #3rdchat
#3rdchat A3 Continue to work to connect our classrooms across the US and World with other Ss. Join this @GooglePlus community to look for collaboration!
A3: One of the goals I have to finish this year strong is to focus on really teaching my Ss and see their needs...not just try some new tech tool or someone else’s product for show...does that make sense? #3rdchat
A3: just continuing to improve on the goals I’ve already set. I’ve started student led discussions this yr. now that the groundwork has been laid I want to focus on the kids generating higher level questions for each other #3rdchat
A4 The first day back we review the items in our portfolios. S's are always amazed to see how far they have come and it inspires them to set new goals. #3rdchat
A4: This has been my prof goal this year. We have data binders and go over data, blog about their reflections and set goals. We celebrate A LOT . #3rdchat

A3: I'm hoping to improve on collaboration, tech, and reflection this year. Resources I would recommend are @ProdigyGame, @Mysteryscience, @StoryboardThat and really participating with your PLN and Twitter chats. #3rdchat
A3: My big plans are to take grad courses focusing children’mental health, create meaningful #pbl projects & actually model living out some Bucket List projects😊#3rdchat
I wanted to let you all know that @Storify will be ending services in the next few months. We are exploring other resources to archive our chats. Until then we will hold off on archiving. #3rdchat
A2 Implementing #daily5 in a deeper way; integration of mindfulness activities into each day; and celebrating ten years of learning as a classroom teacher! #3rdchat
A4: I use Google Hangouts and do Q&A chats. I read this article recently and changed the narrative to talk about courage as they reflect. Great read! https://t.co/gAkAApJNGR#3rdchat
A4: Setting quarterly goals is a part of our routine. We will start the new year by updating our data notebooks and setting goals for the future. All of this data is maintained in their own personal binder for us to look back and reflect upon. #3rdchat
A4: I agree with many that said to look back over what we’ve already accomplished, then help my Ss set meaningful goals that can be attainable! Excited for 2018! #3rdchat

A4: Our school is implementing #AVIDelementary and we decided as a staff to have Ss reflect in their agendas. Starting small and thought my 3rds could write one thing they learned at the end of each day. #3rdchat
Q5 we have 2 scheduled conferences throughout the year. Having the students involved in these gives a great opportunity and a real audience for them to set new goals with parents #3rdchat
A4: I try to build reflection & goal setting into our work all year, through self-assessments, daily class goals , Zones of Regulations, but we’ll do some New Years goals on Monday for sure! #3rdchat
My #OneWord2018 is disciplined. I will be disciplined to accomplish my health, spiritual, family, and work goals!
Guide students to choose one word with this template: https://t.co/rhcmPEs7AK
A5: I’m hoping to work on goal setting as I get stronger with small group teaching, having more time to hear from kids can only be a benefit to my teaching! #3rdchat
A4 We will continue our class goals carried over from 2017: self regulation, resilience and mindfulness. Students will take ownership over other goals through coaching during health lessons in the first few weeks back. I'll be modelling my own journey with my goals. #3rdchat
A5: Anytime we can look at data in a graph form or even just to self-compare confidence on a skill from start to finish is vital to academic success. Celebrate accomplishments and talk about the power of yet for the goals that we haven't met...yet. #3rdchat
Hey all, I am going to have to jump out early. I will read back through the thread in the morning. Thanks for a great first chat of 2018. My big take away from tonight is "go slow to go fast." Going to be more intentional with what we try. #3rdchat
Yes at 9:00 Eastern time. Follow @lesahaney, @DonnaWeth, @azurehenwood and follow their feed. Donna is moderating tonight. Just jump in with the #3rdchat! We would love to have you!!

A6 I love the #oneword2018 idea. I do this each year with my family and class. We refer to the words all year and use them to direct our personal goals My word for this year is Now #3rdchat
We have made goals to try one new thing this year and recorded our answers on @Flipgrid - their responses have been really cute! I also like to start in with MLK Jr stuff when we come back to schcoik! #3rdchat
A5 I model my own struggles and triumphs with making changes in my goals and plans. I am also a fan of descriptive feedback and revisiting goals regularly in pairs and alone. 💭💡✅#3rdchat
I have done this with my students in a discussion board called "One Word" with grade 2 and 3... have also done #mythreewords and they have chosen 3 words to describe themselves. Some choose related to favorite things, others do it related to personality traits. It's fun. #3rdchat
A6: jumped to soon with my previous answer! OneWord and goal setting, clean tables, new pencils, revisiting what we did last semester to lead us where we need to focus this semester #3rdchat
A6: jumped too soon with my previous answer! OneWord and goal setting, clean tables, new pencils, revisiting what we did last semester to lead us where we need to focus this semester #3rdchat
It’s very similar to a TeachMe Day. Interested Ss plan what they would like to share & other Ss choose their activity based on their interests & talents. #3rdchat

A6: Where in the World Field Trip. Students use Google My Maps to plan a virtual field trip. They will report out using @DoInkTweets and YouTube. This week’s student is working on our first trip...The Taj Mahal. #3rdchat
A6: We will make New Year's Goals rather than resolutions. I am excited to have students see their progress on middle of the year testing. We will play some math games and review as we gear up for our first full week next week. #3rdchat
A6: I got my Ss some 2018 glasses from the party store that we will wear to help us with our new goals! Also, it’s a great time to blend in MLK, Jr. history to help us see the good things in the world around us! #3rdchat

We are trying it this year. Am incorporating literature and art with it. Looking for ways to help Ss stay focused on #oneword throughout second half of Year.
A7:Pete and Pickles is a great book that shows thinking outside the box, making new friends, and that taking a chance can be worthwhile and save your life in more than one way. #3rdchat
All the students are working on it simultaneously. Different trips of their choice. I will share each trip with families as part of our weekly classroom Vodcast on YouTube. I will share soon. #3rdchat
A7 "I'm New Here" by Anne Sibley O'Brien. At first glance, it's a bit juvenile, but I love the diversity & it starts a nice discussion & sets the tone. #3rdchat
I was just thinking the same thing! I haven’t thought of a specific book to begin the New Year, but I’ll be looking now and am excited to hear what others do! #3rdchat
