The mission of #TynkerChat: Are we adequately preparing students for an unknown future? Can we, through community and sharing, make this unknown “known?” Let us lift up the conversation about making sure that when our students enter the workforce- they have the skills to thrive.
#TynkerChat will be held every Monday, starting March 13th.
Welcome to this week's #TynkerChat!
We're looking for great ideas about how to take #STEM out of the lab- and back into the classroom.
Tell us who you are and where you're from!

A1: One of my strategies has always been to take an activity (or project) that other teachers do, and create an exemplar in code. Show them what's possible. #tynkerchat
A1: If we share the projects we have our students do with the whole school and with parents maybe others will see the value in allowing our students to create and think critically with #computerscience#CS and #coding#tynkerchat
I think that finding universal things like presentations or book reports - are great angles to getting #STEM buy-in from others. Show them - anything can be coded! #tynkerchat
A3: TIME...it takes me almost half a year to get the social/emotional piece in place so we can do more #STEM activities. I start small and work into bigger things later in the year. #tynkerchat
I agree- my first collaborative #coding project with social studies, although successful, was criticized because of time: "students could have done this faster with Google Slide." But would it have been as valuable? #tynkerchat
There's got to be a term- for that student who is working on building persistence- but is riding the edge of frustration. I know what that face is. #tynkerchat
A4: we need to continue to educate ourselves and persevere in our own coding. We need to take risks and show students and colleagues that it is ok to fail and keep trying. Isn't that what learning is all about? #tynkerchat
This was great! Thank you so much for joining #TynkerChat today!
Don't forget there are 3 days left to apply to be a @gotynker Blue Ribbon Educator. Apply now! https://t.co/Pq2wvacRuq
Can't wait to see what happens for #HourofCode for you all this year!
