#aussieED was founded on the belief that all teachers, and students, should have unlimited access to Professional Development, on their own terms, to improve their teaching, their schools and change the lives of the students they encounter. Since then, we have embarked on a mission to reach educators, not only in Australia but, all around the globe. We want to smash the barriers that prevent teachers from easily connecting and learning with each other. To that end, we have developed a regular Ed-chat each Sunday on twitter at #aussieED. The chat allows all teachers, leaders, administrators and all those connected with education to meet on an unbiased platform and discuss the real issues that effect what happens in classrooms everywhere. Our chats are authentic because we are real teachers walking the same walk that so many do everyday.
A9

3. Work towards getting back into curric. leadership after a year as acting HOD

A7. I love @Seesaw and class FB pages as a way of communicating to parents what is going on in my classroom :) I like calling or catching parents in the arvo to share the good things their child has done in class :) #aussieed
#aussieed A9 1) More room for creativity in instruction, 2) I am film person, so more acceptance of film as a #teaching tool, 3) more time for amazing #twitter connections such as this one
Just 1 teaching wish - For all teachers to learn science is our friend. We need to move teachers from ideology to evidence-based teaching & learning #aussieed
I actually don't like school forced restrictions on when Ts can answer parents etc. We are all different people with different schedules. We should have the freedom to do what suits us and respond in a sensible turn-a-round of time #aussieED
A9 1) to increase my PLN and complete all my expected projects 2) Get to Australia and go to an EduCamp 3) Warriors into Top 8/Semi Finals in NRL #aussieED
A7. One of my goals is to teach my students how to email correctly and utilise it as an effective communication tool between teachers and peers #aussieed
A9: Halfway through my school year so my answer is based on something that I have noticed fall away in my homeroom. 1 - Everyone says hello to everyone else without being prompted 2 - We celebrate failure instead of fear it 3 - We show courage. #aussieED
A7 To just love what I do! Enjoy the Ss and make learning as much fun for them I can ... make the most of each day as you’ll never get the day again😀#aussieED
A7: No expectation to answer anything outside of hours, but the reality is, most of us do! My school uses Yammer for staff communication, Facebook and our LMS for parents, LMS internal messages for students as well as email for all. Can get overwhelming at times! #aussieED
A9: a successfulteaching year not too fraught with overwhelming or crazy deadlines; good health and maybe a little fitness; harmony in all learning spaces & workplaces #aussieED
A9: 1. Getting a team to the @IOLing_official again (a fond wish with a very slim chance of being realised),
2. Maintaining good relationships with all colleagues and students,
3. Finding enough time in the midst of teaching/preparation/marking to watch the World Cup. #aussieed

I read a lot of @RyanHoliday he talks about saying 'NO' new teachers always feel like they have to say yes to everything. It is a hard profession to get your head around #aussieED
In reply to
@debsnet, @robmctaggart, @maddikate__, @RyanHoliday
A9 1. school leaders to go into classrooms once per week and chat to tchrs and Ss. 2. Give teachers time to collaborate. 3. Get rid of ATAR scores. #aussieED
I have to go and sort out tomorrow. Thanks for a great start back to 2018, @ZeinaChalich and #aussieED Always a great way to start to school week. Happy days. And go, @Patriots
A9 1) maths is given the respect it deserves in all levels of the community
2) students #CHOOSEMATHS because they value it not because they have to
3) people are no longer afraid of making mistakes #aussieED
A9)
1) Student agency - That we push past buzz words & empower Ss to own learning.
2) Teacher Autonomy - That we back Ts to be the professionals and do what is best for Ss.
3) Vision of the Learner - That we reflect on practice and pedagogy through this lens. #aussieED
I think school policy helps set protections for teachers, whilst allowing individual workflows. I would answer an email at home out of hours if i was already working, noting that in the morning I might have other time dependent tasks #aussieED
Q9: My 3 wishes- 1.Quality work/life balance.
2. Challenges that strengthen my teaching/leadership.
3.Small successes in leadership goals. Can I just use this for my PDP?! Haha. @ZeinaChalich#aussieED

A7. Such a tough one! I know myself I check and reply to emails at strange times. If responding to parents on Seesaw (our main forum), I try to do that before around 5-6pm. No parents or students on social media! Colleagues are fine, of course mindful with posts! #aussieED
THIS, is what I want to implement! I’m the new eLearning Leader for 2018... and beyond. Thinking of getting experts to “skype in” every now and then. Have sent and email to @ccoffa to float the concept. #aussieED
Thanks @ZeinaChalich, @MRsalakas& all the #aussieED team. Was it just me or were there plenty of new faces tonight?? Glad to have been here - have a great week everyone
A9: I'm going to keep this teaching related (otherwise my answers are travel more, travel more, travel more). 1 Better work life balance. 2 Finally find a solution to organising my desk. 3 Finish reading all of the books that have accumulated in my 'to be read' stack(s) #aussieED
We have a guideline. Our Principal said the exact same thing. Your working hours are between 8.45 and 4.15 you can answer outside these times but it is a choice not a hard and fast rule #aussieED
A9.1 - to learn to say NO or ask for help when needed. 2 - to make myself a priority and do the things I’ve always wanted to (see you soon, Africa 🙋🏻♀️) and 3 - to wish health, happiness and success to all in my personal and professional life, including my kiddies #aussieED
A9 There are times when your passion is what you teach - then it is difficult to have a clear demarcation between the two. When on a walk I am thinking can I use this route with my group. #aussieED
A9 My 3 wishes are to be an effective learner myself, get involved in education circles outside my school and continue to actually love what I do in my classroom. #aussieED
My goals are aligned to yours Karen,I hope to take the books with me on my travels ☺️ even @goodreads tells me to finish one book before starting another 😭 #aussieED

Can wait for the time change here in MA. Even getting up at 5:30am I miss this awesome chat. See you in the spring or set my alarm for 4:30 am next week. #aussieED
The red line principle. Best thing my first Principal said to me. There is a red line at the front gate. As soon as you get outside the line forget school it will be there when you get back #aussieED
Sign up a new colleague to twitter and bring them to our next chat Sun 11 Feb with @MRsalakas on Learning by Doing. Brett will share some light professional reading with you during the week 📖#aussieED#edchat#ukedchat

I use @idoceo also, have always been a lover. However, same problems! I’m handing my class over halfway through the year and need to find a way to share all my data... hmmm #aussieED
In reply to
@ZeinaChalich, @idoceo, @schoolbox, @idoceo
I love the idea of this, Jack. The adminis-trivia I can happily leave at the front gate, but I have a harder time leaving how I can help, engage, challenge my kids there… #aussieED
I used to work in a bar during Uni, I have always felt a strong connection between serving drunken adults and teaching 8 year olds for some reason.... #aussieED
Thanks @ZeinaChalich, @MRsalakas& all the #aussieED team. Was it just me or were there plenty of new faces tonight?? Glad to have been here - have a great week everyone
Trust your data. If you don't have data for it find a way to generate it. Data always allows for a cycle. Reflection, action, feedback and collection of new data. Will change your practice #aussieED
So far, my #SundayMorning is off to a great start, thanks to an amazing chat with some dedicated #educators. Thank you, #aussieED for helping me get my week off right. #Collaboration is everything.
That’s really interesting because data is exactly the thing I’m trying to move further away from. Relationships is the currency I’m currently dealing in i.e. meeting every student where they are on their learning journey & creating authentic assessment opportunities. #aussieED
New! @DigiTechHub has published an interactive Scope and Sequence for the @ACARAeduau Digital Technologies Curriculum. Looks like a fantastic resource to help with planning, teaching, & assessing. 👏🏽https://t.co/qdFOXnCf10
A6) we use @googledrive and #GoogleDocs to plan our week but I still love a hard copy of things for safety. I use notes on my laptop to keep track of my ‘to do’ list each day #aussieED
