-
A1 we're moving 1 to 1 soon, so I'm VERY excited to learn from this chat!
-
A1. PLAN AHEAD. Know your users Ts and Ss. Communicate needs
-
A1 cont - from my hubby, find a S who is tech fluent and appoint them as helpers. Treat it as a reward
-
Decide ahead. . What will u allow? Make it known
-
Q2: 1 to 1 users: what has worked 4 u?
-
A2 getting devices w/ necessary installs, training users to use. Plan Curriculum 4 Integration of device
-
training is HUGE!! What would PD for 1 to 1 training look like?
-
We aren't 1:1, that makes me sad but we make it work.
-
Checking in late! Cristina from Ohio! English and School PR
-
-
A2- When Ss use tech, I place a lot of trust in them to uphold expectations and let them know how valuable that trust is
-
A3. Distribution before PD or not having frequent PD while in the hands of users.
-
Q4: how much "policing" do u plan 2 do
-
-
A4: Having been 1:1 for a couple of years now I have learned that you have to be willing to trust the Ss or it won't work
-
A4 cont: On that note, walking the room and being conscientious of what is happening on screens is integral
-
A4: Ss sign a tech contract with expectations and consequences at the beginning of the year.
-
I have some iPads and Chromebooks. We don't have enough for everyone but we group up a lot.
-
We also have a tech contract that Ss complete w/ beginning of the year pprwork.
-
Q5: don't 4get digital citizenship. How do u promote
-
we do, too. But I make them complete a classroom specific one, too.
-
A5: Our 7th graders are required to take a digital literacy class that heavily promotes positive digital footprints
-
Yes! I monitor like a boss on lab days!
-
A5: it should start at the lower levels and develop as Ss get older/more mature
-
-
When I monitor to make sure that they are on the appropriate app/website
-
to make sure they're on task and discussion is sticking to the topic. I do it on non-lab days also
-
Mgmt tip #2: close 3/4 way.. so students don't have 2 log back in
-
A5 absolutely ❤ as one such resource 4 addressing
-
You can use Symbaloo Lesson Plans to keep your students engaged and on track through gaming style lessons all while monitoring!
-
Symbaloo lesson plans rock
-
Next Q: what do u expect from ur students
-
Q6: lots of understanding that hiccups are inevitable & be willing to seemistakes as learning opportunities. In short, TONTRY
-
end of Q6 should be TO TRY
-
When tech doesn't work, what do u do ?
-
A6 Being able to meet goals in their own creative way. Take charge of their learning
-
A7 - troubleshoot first, let Ss see problem solving and adaptability in real life; if all else fails, Plan B lesson sans tech
-
A7: Freak out...lol...I try to have a Plan B, but that doesn't always work. Just be ready to adjust...that's just teaching anyway!
-
The worst is when it happens during an evaluation!
