  • kjohnson2009 May 7 @ 8:40 PM EDT
I'd rather plan the royal wedding. Lots of fun hats involved! #neisdpln
  • kcross34 May 7 @ 8:40 PM EDT

  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 8:41 PM EDT
A1: PD day! I’d rather be judged on a smaller scale! I jest. But with PD I could lean on my coteachers and make it meaningful to our positions. I would hope. #neisdpln
  • fruiz1208 May 7 @ 8:42 PM EDT
We need to find a way to do less BOY compliance stuff and more effective PD! #neisdpln
  • LaClarissaRuiz May 7 @ 8:42 PM EDT
Plan a staff PD day that would incorporate an "escape room" with several campus initiatives topics - Aware, Lead4ward, Skyward, Instructional Strategies...#neisdpln

    In reply to @kjohnson2009
  • _emiaj_ May 7 @ 8:42 PM EDT
A1: Staff PD. I like sharing my ideas with other teachers, and if I can help teach them a new innovative at to teach something that’s even better. And, I’m the queen of Pinterest Fails, so the royal wedding would be pretty lame!!#neisdpln

  • gtmarrone May 7 @ 8:45 PM EDT
A1 Although planning weddings are fun, I'd rather do a Staff PD. Smaller scale to work with #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:45 PM EDT
Excellent point! Wouldn't it be fun, just for a day, to spend money on that scale? #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:46 PM EDT
    Me too! #neisdpln

Plan a staff PD: I would ask staff to brings notes from the last PD and I would give them time to implement what they learned #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:47 PM EDT
Wow! I thought so many of you would have said the Royal Wedding! Okay, Q2 coming up! #neisdpln

  • fruiz1208 May 7 @ 8:48 PM EDT
The beauty of effective PD is that it doesn't have to be expensive! some of the best PD sessions I have ever gone to we done on the cheap! #neisdpln

  • kjohnson2009 May 7 @ 8:48 PM EDT
A1-ok #neisdpln you sold me on planning a PD day! Maybe outdoor learning or science with lots of time to make and take materials for later.
  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 8:48 PM EDT
Well, as an American History teacher...we broke from the Brits for good reason. #neisdpln

I will go with.... monthly colonoscopy! Benefit... weight loss, cancer prevention, in the only one with anxiety! Lol #neisdpln
  • lackeyangie May 7 @ 8:49 PM EDT
A1. I would love to plan an intense morning staff PD and then let everyone leave early #Brexit style! #neisdpln
  • kandrarene May 7 @ 8:50 PM EDT
A2: colonoscopy would have to be done to alleviate the state testing. Not happily but.... #neisdpln
  • fruiz1208 May 7 @ 8:50 PM EDT
When r u gonna come see the awesome graphic design our kids are doing at the Design and Tech Academy! #neisdpln
    In reply to @ProfClayton, @kcross34
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:50 PM EDT
You always have a clever answer! #neisdpln
  • _emiaj_ May 7 @ 8:50 PM EDT
A2: So sad to say, I’d take the colonoscopy!! While accountability is important, there has to be a better way than a test that makes, both s’s and t’s, anxious and worried about what happens next. #neisdpln
  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 8:50 PM EDT
A2: GOOD GRIEF. Are you really gonna make me say it? How about NO on the more state testing? Why are we pushed to be innovative and then judged on standardized testing that is anything BUT? #sorrynotsorry #neisdpln
  • ProfClayton May 7 @ 8:50 PM EDT
A2. I would rather take up the um... (you know) than have more state testing for my kids. I think that the state testing that is done now is enough to garner what is needed. Now state quizzing... that's an idea. #neisdpln
    In reply to @terrieichholz
  • k_avella May 7 @ 8:51 PM EDT
A2 Monthly Colonoscopy.. both upset the stomach! Ha ha #neisdpln
  • cgrego_techie May 7 @ 8:51 PM EDT

    A2: I’m sorry I can’t answer adequately because I haven’t had one option and I can’t stop laughing. Oh Terri. 🤣🤣 #neisdpln
  • ProfClayton May 7 @ 8:52 PM EDT
I can next week (as soon as our finals are over)... I'll be sure to send you a message! #neisdpln
    In reply to @fruiz1208, @kcross34
  • fruiz1208 May 7 @ 8:52 PM EDT
A2 it sucks that I actually have to think about what my answer is to this question! #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:52 PM EDT
As long as it holds off any additional testing? #neisdpln
    In reply to @kjohnson2009
  • cgrego_techie May 7 @ 8:52 PM EDT
    Excellent point! #neisdpln

Then I have clearly done my job. I was definitely trying to make the choices difficult! #neisdpln
    In reply to @fruiz1208
  • ProfClayton May 7 @ 8:54 PM EDT
A1. I'd rather plan a staff PD Day... it would be a lot less stress and a lot more fun. (What's a PD Day?) #neisdpln
    In reply to @terrieichholz
  • _emiaj_ May 7 @ 8:54 PM EDT
A2 con’t: Even my Little’s get anxious because we have to be so quiet, and some of their siblings have to take it so they’re nervous for them. My own daughter asked me when she’ll have to take it (she’s in 1st), and is already anxious about it. 😟#neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:54 PM EDT
Question 3 is coming up. The choice may not seem quite as painful - although it is for me. #neisdpln
  • LaClarissaRuiz May 7 @ 8:54 PM EDT
A2: It would rather do the monthly colonoscopy! Creating alternative assessments to be able to provide avenues in which students can demonstrate their mastery is so much fun that closing down a school so that students can take their tests for one snapshot! #neisdpln
  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 8:55 PM EDT
Don’t forget PARENTS. All the way around nerve hitting. #neisdpln
    In reply to @_emiaj_
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:55 PM EDT
LOL! I bet it would be fun for you to plan a Professional Development Day for the teachers! Just remember they get to wear pajamas all day and a 2 hour lunch. #neisdpln
    In reply to @ProfClayton
  • ProfClayton May 7 @ 8:56 PM EDT
Thanks @terrieichholz. My kids have had the pleasure of passing through the halls of Wetmore, Driscoll, and MacArthur... and next year we're adding Nimitz to the mix since my daughter got accepted into the STEM program there! #neisdpln

Q3. I think I know how most of you will answer but maybe you will surprise me! #neisdpln
  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 8:58 PM EDT
A3: More housework! I’m spoiled because Brian does it ALL. I would gladly take some on. #neisdpln
  • kandrarene May 7 @ 8:58 PM EDT
A3: do more of my own IF I get to choose the topic and product. Would love more time to concentrate on one thing instead of trying to do too much at once. #neisdpln
  • laffinglibrary May 7 @ 8:58 PM EDT
Assign more homework- librarian talking- read!! And my cleaning skills are terrible #neisdpln
  • gtmarrone May 7 @ 8:59 PM EDT
A2 Monthly colonoscopy for sure! Too much anxiety with state testing! #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:59 PM EDT
Oh wow! I knew he was awesome, but now he's on a whole different level of awesome! #neisdpln
    In reply to @faro_neisd
  • MrsHAlvarez May 7 @ 8:59 PM EDT
A3: I hate giving homework! Just let them read for fun! Keep reading & learning positive! Plus my hubby would love if I cleaned the house more lol #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 8:59 PM EDT
Aha! You found a way to foil my prediction! #neisdpln
    In reply to @laffinglibrary
  • kjohnson2009 May 7 @ 9:00 PM EDT
A3- Do more of my own homework! (that's work I need to do at my house right?!?😉) #neisdpln
  • _emiaj_ May 7 @ 9:00 PM EDT
A3: Housework!! TBH I don’t make my own kids do their HW *gasp*. Granted they’re in Kinder and 1st, so at their age, I believe, meaningful conversations and real life experiences are more important than anything on a worksheet. I think that is important at any age. #neisdpln
  • kcross34 May 7 @ 9:00 PM EDT
A3: housework because research shows homework for elementary is ineffective. Not a fan of housework though... #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:00 PM EDT
    Agreed! #neisdpln
    In reply to @_emiaj_
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:01 PM EDT
Yep. I'm with you on both counts. I tried to put two options that make me cringe. #neisdpln
    In reply to @kcross34
  • Mrs_SReed_10 May 7 @ 9:01 PM EDT
A2 Eww.....I choose neither! But I am leaning toward the HW! 😝 #neisdpln
  • gtmarrone May 7 @ 9:01 PM EDT
A3 More housework. Let kids have fun after school and be kids. #neisdpln
  • LaClarissaRuiz May 7 @ 9:01 PM EDT
A3: Housework for sure!! Too much homework can be counter productive for today's child. The purpose of homework is important! #neisdpln
  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 9:01 PM EDT
Family time is so important. We see the children more than parents do. It’s tough to rob them of quality time. But READING is fun for the whole family! #neisdpln

  • MsKellih May 7 @ 9:02 PM EDT
A3 Well I Dislike housework and homework. Lol.. But assigning fun, interactive homework like a twitter chat would be cool. #neisdpln
  • MrsTKnights May 7 @ 9:03 PM EDT
A3 housework, it will have a more positive effect than homework. #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:03 PM EDT
    That's a creative idea! #neisdpln
    • MsKellih May 7 @ 9:02 PM EDT
A3 Well I Dislike housework and homework. Lol.. But assigning fun, interactive homework like a twitter chat would be cool. #neisdpln
  • ProfClayton May 7 @ 9:03 PM EDT
A3. Do more of the homework I assign. I've always had a rule that I wouldn't assign anything to my students that I wouldn't want to do myself. "Practice what you preach" is something we all need to take note of now and again. #neisdpln
    In reply to @terrieichholz
  • LasLomasGT May 7 @ 9:03 PM EDT
A3: I think we need to redefine homework and make it something families could maybe do together to enrich children...the "new" homework shouldn't be work at all. #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:03 PM EDT
If my child's homework could be to do my housework then everyone would win. #neisdpln
  • laffinglibrary May 7 @ 9:04 PM EDT
    Yes!! #neisdpln
  • ProfClayton May 7 @ 9:04 PM EDT
Whoops, I read that question wrong... and I was thinking I was smart. ;) #neisdpln
    In reply to @terrieichholz
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:05 PM EDT
I don't assign homework, but I often do what I've assigned to my students so they can see me going through the process, too. Good for #GrowthMindset #neisdpln

Q4 is coming up. I am loving this lively #neisdpln group tonight!
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:07 PM EDT
    Q4. Here you go, #neisdpln !
  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 9:08 PM EDT
A3: Our son is not going to reflect as an adult on that “awesome worksheet” homework assignment he had. He is goin to remember GREAT classroom/group moments. Just sayin. #neisdpln

A4 I love field trips. They equalize the playing field for students who might not have experiences upon which to build new learning! Definitely field trip! #neisdpln
  • LaClarissaRuiz May 7 @ 9:09 PM EDT
A4: Chaperone! Yes, it is exhausting! Yes, the kiddos are full of energy! What a better way to experience all the hard work through the year! #neisdpln
  • MrsHAlvarez May 7 @ 9:09 PM EDT
A4: Just took a bunch of 1st graders to the zoo! So I giess that answers that question 🐅🦏🐂🐘🦍🦒🐃🦓🐫 #neisdpln
  • ProfClayton May 7 @ 9:09 PM EDT
A4. Easy, I'd chaperone... FIELD TRIPS ROCK! (I've taken a group of 30 college students to London & Paris for 10 days with only one other faculty... but I have great students so it was a walk in the park.) #neisdpln
  • yankee_todd - Moderator May 7 @ 9:10 PM EDT
A4: I would chaperone the field trip! Any chance to celebrate with kids - that’s where I want to be! #neisdpln
  • _emiaj_ May 7 @ 9:10 PM EDT
A4: Hmmm... politicians are pretty much like Pre-K students, so I think I could do that. 😂 I like end of year field trips. I think when you take your students outdside the school in a more relaxed setting, you see each other in a new way. #neisdpln
  • gtmarrone May 7 @ 9:10 PM EDT
A4 Chaperone an end of year field trip! Love connecting with kids outside of school. They see another side of me. #neisdpln
  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 9:10 PM EDT
A4: Chaperone the field trip. 8th grade EOY parties are fun to watch. Bittersweet. The other asks for a patience I don’t possess. #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:10 PM EDT
I totally agree - but they do stress me out! I'm always worried I will lose a child or worse! #neisdpln

A4- Field Trip! Get to go somewhere fun and the participants are probably better behaved. 😯😉😂 #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:11 PM EDT
That is very true! (The seeing each other in a new way - but also the politician part!) #neisdpln

A4: field trip!! I’m way too much of an introvert to moderate a presidential debate (although I’d love to go behind the scenes). Plus, I have 4 years of Sea World camp counselor experience so I got field trips!. #neisdpln
  • lackeyangie May 7 @ 9:12 PM EDT
A.4 I would rather monitor a presidential press conference bc I could serve my son's #DonaldTrump cake after the questioning! #neisdpln Make Books Great Again!
  • faro_neisd May 7 @ 9:12 PM EDT

@4: chaperone an end of the year trip. At least I know what I’m getting with the kiddos. Not like some of those presidential clowns that run for office. Kids have a reason to be silly. They’re KIDS! #neisdpln

Last month I was invited by the Oak Meadow Elementary PTA to teach #sketchnotes to 4th & 5th graders. I brought two education majors that are taking my "Visual Note Taking Workshop" course to assist me. We have a blast. We're going back soon for the 2nd & 3rd graders. #neisdpln

    Q5 is coming up! #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:16 PM EDT
Q5. I was kind of hoping some HS people might be around to answer this, since I know it isn't as much an issue in elementary. #neisdpln
  • mathedology May 7 @ 9:17 PM EDT
Fun chat tonight! I'll have to catch up! #neisdpln
  • kandrarene May 7 @ 9:18 PM EDT
A5: no brainer! ALL sts respond with text talk and emojis. But yeah I’m elementary so cannot relate to HS. But if it gets us communicating I’m definitely in. #neisdpln
  • gtmarrone May 7 @ 9:19 PM EDT
Q5 Respond with text talk and emojis. I'm sure they would come up with some creative ways to respond! #neisdpln
  • fruiz1208 May 7 @ 9:19 PM EDT
A5 We have nextgen smartboards that connect with devices at the student desk so that they can create and interact with teacher and each other. Teachers also use Nearpod to do it. It is amazing to watch! #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:20 PM EDT
LOL! That's a good point! It would be funny to compare their responses with my 5th graders! #neisdpln

A5: talk and text with emojis! 🐧👋🏻🤟🏻❤️💻 I love having text convos through Google Classroom with my 3rd graders! #neisdpln
  • LaClarissaRuiz May 7 @ 9:20 PM EDT
A5: Being a former HS Science teacher, I'll take this one....Absolutely have my student respond with text talk and emojis! Great way to have 100% participation and Ss love it! #neisdpln
  • mathedology May 7 @ 9:20 PM EDT
A5 Text talk and emojis. At least it's some kind of interaction! They might revert to real talk when all the adults catch on and it's no longer "cool." 🤣#neisdpln
  • laffinglibrary May 7 @ 9:20 PM EDT
We should try this sometime LOL!! #neisdpln

  • _emiaj_ May 7 @ 9:21 PM EDT
A5: Emojis would be perfect for my class... Hmm... Now I need to make a Seesaw activity where they have to use emojis to answer. #thanksforanewidea #neisdpln

A5. This one's tough... can I vote neither? 😃 ... but if I had to pick one, I'd got for the first choice - though it would bug me to high heaven, at least they'd be responding. #neisdpln

A6 Write a book about my teaching adventures. So many stories to tell after 18 years! However, I'd be interested to see what they write about me ;-) #neisdpln
  • kandrarene May 7 @ 9:27 PM EDT
A6: definitely have my kids write about me and add a chapter a year. Would be great for reflection and growth on my part. And probably would be good for comic relief at times. #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:27 PM EDT

A6: Write the book! I keep mentioning him and he won’t like it, but Brian and I have said it would be HILARIOUS to write, “The Stuff We’ve Seen: Days in the Life of a Teacher.” 😂 It’s why we comeback everyday! #neisdpln
  • terrieichholz May 7 @ 9:28 PM EDT
A6. My students would write, "She really liked Diet Coke." #neisdpln
  • cgrego_techie May 7 @ 9:28 PM EDT

A6: write a book about my teaching adventures because I’d love to share stories about how much love I have for my kiddos. I have a file on my hard drive full of kids funnies and quotations that I want to publish one day.❤️ #neisdpln
  • fruiz1208 May 7 @ 9:28 PM EDT
A6 Although its a little scary, I would like my students to write a book about me. We are in ed for the long haul and dont always get to see the impacts we have. I have interacted with thousands of students over 25 years, and still sometimes wonder if I had an effect. #neisdpln
  • _emiaj_ May 7 @ 9:29 PM EDT
A6: I would love to see what the kids would say about me. I’d like to see the difference between my Little’s I have now, compared to my Little’s that are in MS. #neisdpln
  • ProfClayton May 7 @ 9:29 PM EDT
A6. I would love to see how my students would describe me and my classes (and they'd probably go off on a tangent... like me)! But it would have to be illustrated... in comic book form... and we'd have to have secret identities. #neisdpln
