Great points. Do you have a portfolio of your own, or do you plan to make one?
A2: I created a shared folder in evernote. My digital portfolio. It was key in getting my last two positions
Takes discipline/time & I'm always struggling with inspiration sources. Maybe you get plenty in your classroom?
A2: Part two. I added student work samples from the last ten years :) All our work on the web.
- How have your students responded to it? Have had the chance to connect it to projects or other instruction?
A3 It has been noted and I have been allowed to share my like for Twitter with staff but not totally endorsed.

That is amazing, congrats! What kind of PD (from what sources) do you choose to pursue?
A3: I do see myself taking on a lead teacher role with my new school. Share a little and learn a lot is my motto
-Love evidence was an element to securing a position you were excited about. Hope the field moves in this direction

Welcome Holly - glad you're here!
Great to have a digital footprint and being able to curate is my next step.
What and where is your new job? Is it a different role too? What are you looking forward to?
A3: can't say admins have been interested, but will have new principal this year who may be more engaged with the projects.
Great to hear! How do lead teachers get nominated/chosen at your new school?
I was a tech coach last school year and moving into the Ambassador School of Global Education school
I'm in Tampa- Hillsborough County (8th Largest Public School District in the nation)
Interesting - I've not heard of it but sounds like a great resource. Brevity is almost always a ++ https://t.co/qkJmnVWlMW
Have you tried ? There is a word limit and fellow teachers share short anecdotes.
-Where are you seeing teachers make a big contribution to PD planning in their districts? How does it happen?
Online chats like tonight as well as my own curiosity about learning inspires me to try new ideas, perspectives.
I'll be participating again this year too 😊
Well, it is an in house process. I am a "lead" teacher by modeling and taking the lead. Not a formal role "yet"
Fingers crossed - what you're doing is important and deserves recognition!
Catherine from Fresno CA. Joining in late bc I'm on my way back home with my Ss. Our Summer program is awesome.
welcome and glad to hear that Tampa takes#PD seriously! I'll be there in Feb for

Love this video!!! It's definitely a favorite!
A3: I received much support for the intl youth summit I created in Loudoun from the district, esp &
Seeing more ownership in Tch run PD, esp with unconference format. A "risk" at 1st, then flourishes https://t.co/oOV97NIO9g
-Where are you seeing teachers make a big contribution to PD planning in their districts? How does it happen?
A4: I am a "certified" online instructor. I actually like the edcamp PD format as a networking starting point
This year I'm doing GRA with first grade- what about you?
It makes me think of really making ppl know they are important and matter bc of their hard work https://t.co/EeTHrHdd50
Excellent! So glad you are joining. We're talking and recognition fm supervisors. Thoughts?
Q5: How is your school/district/organization PD designed for teachers to learn and lead the learning of others?
I am also doing wih my 5th graders. You will love the author study.
- it takes a lot of time and energy to run a successful unconference. It should be recognized and valued!
Definitely. Anecdotally, districts w/ the best global PD options are those listening closely to teacher needs
A5: In L.A. it is called MyPLN and it is teacher led. .
Agree & esp re valuing it!! IMO so worth it afterward- I love seeing the connections & empowerment
Thanks for a great chat. Gotta run. Looking forward to connecting with you all.
Yes & requires humble educators to candidly promote their own accomplishments & contributions! https://t.co/9cKAoRFE3b
It makes me think of really making ppl know they are important and matter bc of their hard work https://t.co/EeTHrHdd50
Excellent! So glad you are joining. We're talking and recognition fm supervisors. Thoughts?
A5: We have a few early release days per yr. some usually dedicated to Ts teaching/small PD sessions others interested in etc.
Can also start small- i.e unconference style vs. faculty meeting :)
Thank you all so much. Enjoyed being here
Thanks for chatting with us Sharon!
Sounds fantastic- who chooses topics/ style? nice re interest-driven! :)
A5: PLCs, PLNs like and group travel with reflection as well as publishing work that shares learning with those peers
- Thanks for joining, Sharon! Hope to see you back in the next few weeks for book club!
- Glad you were able to join this week, Joe!
Love the emphasis here on documenting, publishing and sharing your learnings from PLCs & PLNs. https://t.co/QWQ0fu2mTD
A5: PLCs, PLNs like and group travel with reflection as well as publishing work that shares learning with those peers
A5: Mostly internal PD- we also have great success connecting with others via social media!
Usually staff is surveyed about interests & admin recruits T leaders to share. (Diff tech, STEM, etc) https://t.co/R408aCS8IQ
Sounds fantastic- who chooses topics/ style? nice re interest-driven! :)
I'm sure our grantees would love to submit this way rather than our lengthy interim reporting form! https://t.co/hrJAgqwJIz
Makes sense to start small, build confidence, gauge interests & capabilities. Good approach! https://t.co/98b6R5JAwc
Can also start small- i.e unconference style vs. faculty meeting :)
Q6: What do you know about micro-credentials? What might be some benefits to using micro-credentials as a option?
A6: I know I like the flexibility of topic and the ability to really undertake reflective practice.
So important to leverage expertise from teachers in your own school - lots to share & learn.
What types of topics lend themselves for Microcredentials?
A6: Don't know much but could see motivation & flexibility as benefits.
A6 Not heard the term micro-credentials before. What are they?
Micro-credentials represent 1 competency. Ex: using discussion protocols to lead a whole-class discussion on a global issue
Yes! (via ) https://t.co/HLiSv5ZCdf
So important to leverage expertise from teachers in your own school - lots to share & learn.
- Chelsea's definition is way better than mine https://t.co/ZWt18eg53u
Micro-credentials represent 1 competency. Ex: using discussion protocols to lead a whole-class discussion on a global issue
Important note: MC topics must be able to be demonstrated & assessed, since they are awarded based on evidence teachers submit
I'm curious to hear from fellow folk: How popular or widely used are microcredentials where you are?
Which is where the reflective practice piece comes in. Too much pd ends with just exposure to concept! https://t.co/EbbX5I8626
Important note: MC topics must be able to be demonstrated & assessed, since they are awarded based on evidence teachers submit
Educators are using MCs to set PD goals and pathways - e.g. what 3 skills do I want to focus on this year?
thanks for an informative chat! Have to run.
Q7: What types of resources does the field need to bring greater of teachers resources for developing global mindsets?
Always glad to have you with us, Renee! Have a great week!
And micro-credentials help demonstrate learning & application of learning in reviews, for new positions, etc.
A7: I heard teacher driven resources Loud and CLEAR on tonight's chat! https://t.co/3dK2J1Q0WB
Q7: What types of resources does the field need to bring greater of teachers resources for developing global mindsets?
Thank you for the info. We don’t use the term MC in the UK; we use term ‘targets’ or ‘aims’. https://t.co/ped1P3pTmK
How have educators been utilizing their microcredentials in the PD plans?
A7: The field needs to recognize teachers for learning from a whole range of sources, and help share strategies
That makes sense - micro-credentials can be used as ways to demonstrate that you've accomplished your PD target
Definitely! Are there districts who champion this already, ? I've heard Long Beach is one https://t.co/IQFSVloc2p
A7: The field needs to recognize teachers for learning from a whole range of sources, and help share strategies
Even more tangible opps for connecting & co-learning. Looking fwd to global collab as the norm! https://t.co/quYOj6qOaS
Q7: What types of resources does the field need to bring greater of teachers resources for developing global mindsets?
My work is cut out for me. Job security! Hooray!
One we are working with is , among others pursuing personalized PD for educators
