-
Is it majority wins or does each S get their own project?
-
- Someday I hope to grow up to be like you, and . 😄
-
With flexible seating, my Ss now also have choice of seat 3x a day
-
A1: I allow choice by having my objective/expected skill but allowing students to decide to topic or method they'll show me
-
You are off to a great start! Q2 coming at ya in 2!
-
ah yes I will be working on flexible seating this year.
-
- Majority narrows it down, but I still give about 3 different choices each time. https://t.co/C13EY7XNf8
-
-
Is it majority wins or does each S get their own project?
-
me too!!! My wifi almost kept me away from all of you! I succeeded!!!

A2 Give Ss freedom to explore what interests them & to be creative. Allowing choice personalizes learning. They own it.
-
A2: Allowing for choice, engaging them, allowing them to create and have time to explore

-
lots of ways to do it without a lot of money. I've seen great ideas on Pinterest.
-
A2-real world application, they want to know where they will use the info

A2: By allowing them to become creators as well. Let them help create challenges and use their feedback to make improvements.
-
Creators instead of memorizing facts is a great way to keep them interested and passionate
-
A2: I am late arriving tonight, but I think that having students create criteria is a good way to challenge and allow creativity.
-
-
Yes! Free choice. Many Ss are so conditioned to need a desk they need time to warm up w/ a different idea https://t.co/GsWSz6zmSf
-
-
Taken out MOST desks, Ss use pillows, camp/ rocking chairs, stools, etc Free choice where want 2 sit if productive
-
-
A3 Create a team atmosphere where Ss feel safe to take risks; not afraid to fail. Ss learn to trust & encourage each other.
-
A3: Focus on building community first, Change seating weekly, give them challenges where they have to work together to succeed
-
A2: Provide for authentic experiences thru which students can practice content. ie: I arrange real convos with Native Speakers!
-
A3: love getting ss in groups and doing team work challenges to build collaboration and a great teaching moment
-
A3-Ss work in groups daily taking turns in different roles
-
A3. Honoring Ss. Don't provide all the answers, allow Ss to keep digging. Keep providing Qs back as feedback.
-
A3: I do this constantly through small group discs, turn/talk, thk/pr/shr, and more. They need to collaborate to learn! Discuss!!!
-
A3: table groups instead of desks, lots of collaboration on assignments
-
yes! Ss have to feel safe do they can take risks! All about building relationships !!
-
A3: Team bldg activities @ beg of year promotes + collab, use projects where Ss must collab to be able to complete
-
A4: In public speaking class, this is essential. A lot of improv games & attendances ?s, small groups. https://t.co/zkn4Lhw3hR
-
A3: I really try to meet them where they are at in terms of communication but also model the future of it. I like Google Classroom
-
Ss love it when they can discover something you don't know, even if you faked being unaware
-
A3: I also like to share as many of my experiences with them as they are sharing with me. Let them hear about my experiences
-
Classroom is one of my favs for pretty much everything!
-
A3: I also use a lot of conferencing and reflection opportunities (need to do more this year)
-
agreed our ss especially need modeling in a safe environment
-
I love all of your ideas and thoughts! Q4 coming in 2 minutes!
-
A3: most of all I really just work really hard to tap into them as learners and who they are as people
-
- Agree. Kids love when Ts are relatable...especially in secondary.
-
So imp. to the relationship between T & S! They need to know that we have lives and exp. outside of school https://t.co/kuNrNzneyl
-
-
A3: I also like to share as many of my experiences with them as they are sharing with me. Let them hear about my experiences
-
-
A4: Challenges that are just out of reach and levels that get harder as you go.
-
- There is an instant connection with a student who has the same interest as you.
-
A4 Clear object to game, element of surprise & chance, requires strategy and problem solving, keeps my interest.
-
A4: Winning! More than that, it is an objective achieved. Settlers of Catan has side challenges (ie lngst rd). Fun to accomplish!
-
yes and hear from us about our failures, our reflections, how we persevered.
-
A4: 1. Strategy 2. Competition 3. Chance 4. Social Aspect
-
A4: Randomness/unpredictablity, ability to earn higher levels through skills
-
Games need to be challenging but not too hard or too easy bc then I get bored of it.
-
A4: For me it's about challenging myself...always trying to do better than before
-
A4. Ability to be challenged enough to continue to move forward. Become more efficient. Complete 100%, but complete faster.
-
The "just out of reach" is important, too easy= boring, too hard= why bother
-
I also love the element of chance and not knowing exactly how something will turn out. A nail biter!
-
For many, the social aspect is the whole pt of playing
-
-
Can do this w/lessons too. I never hesitate to talk through w/Ss what worked and what I need to do better
-
A4-beat your last high score, and that it changes each time you play
-
Love that! So powerful! https://t.co/1zKR8XUbMe
-
-
Can do this w/lessons too. I never hesitate to talk through w/Ss what worked and what I need to do better
-
haha I think I've actually been playing more than ! It is going really well though!
-
- I always love when the person winning has an instant chance of failing. Is that weird?
-
Loving this conversation! Q5 coming in 2 minutes!
-
A4: is is the mystery and surprise...that what does share have in store next, what will she do next that keeps them hungry
-
A3: Team games and projects. Hoping to pump that up thru gamification😊
-
I do t think so. I love that too!!
-
Yes! If a game has this quality - I always come back for more! "Just out of reach" is a perfect description https://t.co/14rcrwFTne
-
-
The "just out of reach" is important, too easy= boring, too hard= why bother
-
-
A5. Autonomy, purpose, and the opportunity for Master.

-
A5-not innovative, but I get to know them all and take interest
-
A5: New world teaching by ditching all the textbooks, Ss-centered activites, more tech (when approp, not just for tech sake)
-
I love for global connection, what do you use?
-
A5: Really working hard to meet the goals/standard I have to but with allowing them to create, produce, share and reflect

A5: More student setting of criteria and students exploration or topics
-
-
A:4 1. Requires strategy 2. Unexpected twists that require reevaluation & new strategy. 3. There is a winner.
-
Our class twitter account and last yr we did the Global Math Task Twitter Chanllenge https://t.co/DC7bWj5EF7
-
-
I love for global connection, what do you use?
-
Some texts aren't bad, just found I never opened them last year so going to try w/o this year as well
-
me too! And non mystery. "Mystery skypes"
-
A5 trying to use real life connections to make the game experience more "true to life" .
-
-
-
-
A6 This is an area of teaching I don't feel I succeed in. Need help. Gamification anyone?!
-
Gonna bug out...it's almost 11:00 in Dallas and I have an early morning...♡ this group! :-) I will read the rest in the morning
-
My peeps... you are an amazing group! You excite ideas and inspire me so! But I have run out of gas!!! I'm headed to bed!
-
A6-failure just means you need to try again-most memorable learning has come from mistakes
-
A6. I like the notion of Intrigue. Mystery, discovery, sense of wonder.
-
A6: Project based learning that allows for choice and S interest, allow for innovation, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit
-
A6: Give Ss chance to be in charge. Ss love when another student leads the warm-up or teaches the lesson. https://t.co/1LiaEOMFvt
-
A6 allowing SS to take Part in stearing the direction we go. Ask them for feedback and ideas to make it more meaningful
-
-
A5: I use a a couple of online games; online version of text ( it's intersctive), art projects, music, PERSONALIZED convo topics!
-
-
-
- Feedback is so important. I survey Ss at end of each quarter about what worked and what didn't.
-
A7 I want to give them a glimpse of what they are capable of, ask them to do it, then step back and see what they can do!
-
-
A7 not giving too many directions or over modeling and giving ss space to create and learn
-
A7-keep things just challenging enough, earned success=confidence
-
A7 letting students have choice! Ss often create harder projects for themselves when given a choice. They will dig deeper!
-
A7: + feedback, personal projects,
-
A7: Goes back to choice, allows Ss to be creative, take risks, & keep them on their toes adding twists & turns to learning.
-
A7: Don't over plan! Allow time for discovery, struggle, creation, collaboration, and feedback!
-
-
A7: Genius hour helps. Provide clubs or enrichment classes that gives them a chance to explore new ideas. https://t.co/u6dAHvVqSL
-
Couldn't agree more! https://t.co/u81xZzIKDh
-
-
A7: Don't over plan! Allow time for discovery, struggle, creation, collaboration, and feedback!
-
I need to work much harder at doing this!
-
A6: 1. Instead of "can I go to the bathroom?" Train students to say ask, "Is this a good time to go to the bathroom?"
-
A7. Find out what they are interested in and play to that. Take the skills you want them to learn, wrap them in their interests.
-
This is very difficult for a lot of Ts & Ps but so important
-
-
A6: 2 I don't make a big deal about tardies. I ask them to fill out an explanation, in Spanish, & leave it on my keyboard.
-
I love being a facilitator of learning instead of a disseminator of information! https://t.co/RLi5XUuygH
-
-
Less "work" for us because they are the ones doing the learning. We simply provide opportunities!
-
- Even slow down within the unit, and don't cover everything in one year. Their learning will be more powerful.
-
-
So much more energy for T when switch to S centered
-
Giving choice is step 1. Then we'll need to help teach Ss how to tap into their own creativity & also demonstrate it in new contxts
-
& So much more learning/engagement for Ss
-
-
Give students CHOICE!!
