Hi #teachpos crew! Barbara Page from Waco, TX here! I have been a bit absent in my chats lately, but excited to hit it hard this week! I hope you're all staying warm and having a wonderful Sunday!
A1: I try to personally thank my coworkers for being wonderful. Would like to do more hand written notes. We do try to go out as a staff but doesn't happen enough. #TeachPos
A1: To transcend the normal PLC, we do these little PD sessions and invite colleagues to them on Tuesday mornings. Results=
-Respect
-New Learning
-Connections
-Appreciation for each other
-Reasons to collaborate
#teachpos
A1: I just try to be positive and notice all the good things that my colleagues are doing. Then I comment on those things. I think this helps build a good relationship. #teachpos
A1: I am working to be more open with colleagues. I tend to be closed off, especially until I feel comfortable with the person. Working to appear more friendly and easy going from the start. #teachpos
A1: Greet everyone morning, I sent out an interest survey to them, random treats, notes of affirmations, talk to them outside of school, connect with what is going on in their personal lives #teachpos
A1: Collaboration, respect, and sharing of ideas! Teaching cannot be done alone & those relationships being fostered in work, help the relationships outside of work as well! I work with such a great team- I always wish the same for others! #TeachPos
A1: As the SPED teacher, I try to use supportive language when it pertains to their instructional techniques and working w/ my Ss. Also refraining from the blame game no matter how difficult it may be #TeachPos
A1: In school: we get lunch together on workdays, celebrate successes in and out of school, chat via FB Messenger & text on evenings and weekends
Out of school: My insanely incredible PLN keeps rocking the house every time i get on Twitter! I'm in awe! #teachpos
A1:
The number one action we can take to develop relationships and connect with colleagues is to engage in authentic dialogue.
A vital piece of dialogue is listening.
Be present. Ask caring questions. Listen.
#teachpos
A1~
~try my best to always focus on their strengths and point them out accordingly
~my bff teacher friend was transferred this year to another school down the street so we regularly see each other in the am and/chat lots via texts, dog 🐶 walks 😊
#teachpos
A1 In school I try to help others who anything they need. Out of school I also listen, help out where needed and be supportive. Try lift others up with positive support #teachpos
A1 - Trust and respect are earned in this career. I earn the trust and respect of my colleagues by putting 💯into everything I do and I keep my focus on what’s good for kids. #TeachPos
A1: #Teachpos I'm sorry I'm late but I'm here in the place that I best build relationships with my colleagues. TWITTER! I love Twitter and how I learn so much from you and my #PLN. BTW - I'm Barbara from Oakland, CA.
A1 There are so many things that we can do to build & nurture our relationships with our colleagues - it's starts with making connections in shared understandings & giving the relationship time to form based on trust & respect.

#teachpos
A1: I don’t know that I do anything intentionally to build relationships. I genuinely care about the people I work with and the work they’re doing. If people are all about kids, I’m all about them! #teachpos
Absoluetly. I also am willing to step up and help when ever. Was at school helping our art teacher set up for our 1st art show ever - we spent 4 hours hanging art. Was great to help her get this done. #teachpos
A1: To build and nurture our relationships, we need to take time to listen to each other. Connect F2F, virtually, social media... anyway. The connections and the time you give to others make a difference to show that the relationships matter the most. #TeachPos
A2: Without those connections, Ts are working in silos without an exchange of ideas and/or supports. Personally & professionally, you need others that can share your joys & heartbreaks in this job! These supports are PIVOTAL for teacher retention & satisfaction #teachpos
A2: Building positive connections create a mutual momentum of growth and forward movement while being inspired. Learning and growth never happens in a vacuum.
#teachpos
A2: For the students! Building connections not only set good exemplars for our Ss but it also provides more success when Ts are connected and form positive connections! #TeachPos
A2: Because that's how we learn and grow. Everyone has blindspots, and if we are lucky, our PLN might even gently point them out. Thanks @JtuckerJames ;) #teachpos
A2:
Humans are social beings. We need relationships to reach our full and truest potential.
Also networking in this profession is absolutely critical to staying at the top of your game (or getting close because we all are still learning) #teachpos
A2: For the students! Building connections not only set good exemplars for our Ss but it also provides more success when Ts are connected and form positive connections! #TeachPos
A1: Outside the school day we will visit at the extra curricular stuff, we have a few social events through the year. Just the quick chats in the hall are great as well. #teachpos Brent from Magrath Alberta.
A2: Tension in the workplace prevents risk-taking, which prevents growth. As @MsSackstein says in #Teacher2Leader (awesome book, BTW), learning happens through mistakes. If we don't have the relationships, none of the rest happens. #teachpos

#teachpos - A2 - Teacher collaboration and a good working environment means better outcomes for students. Having all staff on the same page and supporting one another towards a common mission ~~ Dream School.

A2: Professional growth to become better as a teacher and person. I'm learning personally that I (as a person) need connections in my life to be more balanced. So working toward more personal realtionships not just work based. #teachpos

A2We are only who we are as educators by the connections we make in the work that we do-it is the educators around us that contribute to our growth and people and professional-those who have mentored, coached , co-planned, co-taught that makes me the educator I am today #teachpos
A2: At times I think teaching can be seen as a competition. Building the relationships are important because it helps us see we are in it together, to support each other for not just our students but the school culture. #teachpos
A1: Building relationships is crucial for growth and development.
Acknowledging that each interaction is an opportunity to connect is critical.
I walk the building each morning and everyone, I mean, everyone gets a greeting!
#teachpos
A2: Building connections are vital for personal and professional growth because connections remind us that we are human—that we feel, learn, and grow. #teachpos
A2~
~negativity can rear its ugly head sometimes and we need each other as authentic, kind beings to talk us thru such and focus on making the lives of those around us (bigs & littles) better and more meaningful & always bringing out the best in each other
#teachpos
A2: At times I think teaching can be seen as a competition. Building the relationships are important because it helps us see we are in it together, to support each other for not just our students but the school culture. #teachpos
Yes!!! Although it feels like it, we're not in competition with other teachers! We're in competition with ourselves to become our best version as educators! The world doesn't care which T you had in 5th grade or what district you come from, they care what you can do. #teachpos
A2: "Learning is all about the connections, and through our connections with unique people we are able to gain a true understand of the world around us." Peter Senge --#TeachPos
A2 #teachpos. Like a student told me..." one of us isn't as smart as all of us." We all love kids and want to make a difference. Our impact is greater together.
A2: Just like our students need to feel safe, supported, and connected so they can learn/grow well, as educators we grow best when we feel safe, supported, and connected! #teachpos
I have learned so much from my wonderful #PLN family in the last 14 months. It truely is amazing. The wonderful educators here have really helped me to break out and understand the positives. #teachpos
It should NOT be assumed that every educator currently has the capcity for the vulnerability required for growth. Some need much coddling and encouragement, much like our students. People are people. They need to feel safe growing. #teachpos
A3: When Ts talk, we open doors to be more supportive of our Ss. They don't need our drama, they've got enough of their own. Get along with your colleagues, and if you don't... fake it. The kids deserve positive role models who can rise above for their sake! #teachpos
#teachpos - A3 - Students listen to like 10% of what you say, but they are always watching how you behave and interact with others. Be a role model. #bethatteacher
Q2- Its important to connect with colleagues to make the culture of the building stronger and know that you have someone to lean on when you need them. #teachpos
A3: Student achievement & engagement has increased, due to the exchange of ideas; happier Ts when there is a positive collaborative environment between all! #teachpos
A3: I have never worked somewhere that the kids want to interact with the teachers before. Teachers hiding in the staffroom needing a "break" is not my reality. We enjoy eating in the common area with the kids laughing together. It is the best. #teachpos
A3: Working together as a team allows everyone to benefit especially the students. Students learn from us how to work together . Kids need positive role models because not all of them have some at home. #teachpos
Q2- Its important to connect with colleagues to make the culture of the building stronger and know that you have someone to lean on when you need them. #teachpos
A3: Our staff is different this year and the culture is stronger. Through that there is a different feel in the building, teachers work together better and more learning is happening. #teachpos
Okay #teachpos - I love you guys, but I gotta run. Need to finish laundry in the next 5 min before a GHO! Thank you for another amazing opp to learn and grow with you! Follow one another! Hugs!
A3:
Positive relationships among staff benefit students in many ways. We are models for them. Our positive relationships can inspire their own positive relationships. We show them how to be kind, collaborative, and principled. #teachposhttps://t.co/7Bv59Wtn8z
We are only as good as those we hang out with and the books we read. I choose to grow. So, I've got to be in community with others like you. 😊 A2. #teachpos
A3- When your students see the positive relationships within the classroom/school, it causes a ripple effect for relationships with their peers. #teachpos
A3 In working closely with colleagues & building our relationships the students have benefitted in many ways:
👥Improved design of learning
👥Greater knowledge of teachers
👥Deeper understanding of pedagogy
👥Modeling how teams collaborate
👥Co-teaching in classrooms
#teachpos
A3: I believe our students see positive relationships amongst staff as making their school feel safe and relaxing. So many of our Ss don't need any more stress in their lives. #teachpos
A3 My students and I benefit from positive relationships by there being a lot of give and take between classrooms. If I can help another teacher by giving the student extra time and/or support to be successful #teachpos
DELIBERATE acts of kindess are intentional, focused on a person that was deliberately chosen, and are curated with that person in mind. It says much more to do a deliberate act of kindness than to do a random one aimed at nobody with no tailored intent. #teachpos#tlap
A3. Model what we preach! Spread kindness & if something doesn’t go my way, I press pause & consider what they must be going thru! Everyone is fighting a battle we know nothing about! #teachpos
A3: It comes down to always 'assuming positive intent.'
When Ss see that we assume positive intent with our colleagues, they too begin to assume the best from their colleagues.
#teachpos
Love all of your answers. They are inspiring in the best sort of way. Instead of a bonus Q, I’m throwing out a friend post. Hope you like it. #teachpos
A3: My own children loved to come home and tell fun stories about what crazy things their Jr. High teachers were doing to each other. It made the whole environment welcoming & enjoyable. #teachpos
A 3, We role model how we want our students to treat each other. They see us having fun and helping each other. They see us unified. This gives the students security. They can talk to all of us. We are all on the same team to help them. #teachpos
