A1: We celebrated on our last spring exam day by hosting a "Stress Recess!" It was fun! We had food, yoga, dancing, & even brought in therapy dogs. It was a celebration of SELF & everyone (adults & kids alike) loved it! #waledchat

A1: I gave them little s’mores packets, and we had a free period where they could relax and play games. I had some great interactions and conversations with them as well! #waledchat
A1: We take our 8th graders on a whirlwind Detroit trip: DIA, Hard Rock, boat tour, Little Caesars Arena tour, & Tigers game! Our kids love it. #waledchat
Intros: Welcome to #waledchat! Introduce yourself, where you are from, your role in education, and tag a new friend you'd like to see join you here tonight! #waledchat
A1: I found something meaningful to write to each of them in an end of year note... it took a while but I found there were a lot of great things about them and I wanted them each to know how special and amazing they are! #waledchat
A1: EOY is always huge for celebrating student success. We recently honored many of the best from @Simmonsknights1 for their academic and extracurricular achievements. I did feel sad for those that did not get a call. Made me think, "How can we reach those students?" #waledchat
A1. I made each and every class brownies to give them before their final. We also had a field day AND we made our own virtual scrap book for the last days of school using Google Slides. #Waledchat
A1: I celebrate with my Ss every day. We just have fun together. They come to me to vent and to share the awesome in their lives. We just had a dunking booth and I was pumped to get dunked by my Ss! #waledchat
A1 I do alot of pizza parties because this is Buffalo and we have great pizza. (We are having pizza next Wednesday). I love the Darien Lake (theme park) 8th grade celebration next week though. #waledchat
A1: I've been out for a couple of weeks now and just started summer school w/ a new group of Ss, yesterday. I walked into a class and got a hug from a new kiddo after spending 15 minutes with him earlier. I'd say that was a celebration, already making connections. #waledchat
A1: We have our year end celebration field trip for bowling and laser tag tomorrow and a picnic on Monday planned. I'm very much looking forward to our time together. #waledchat
A1 We did a mini-celebration for finishing our SOLs. Tomorrow is our fun day celebration because we finished all retakes and they were so proud of their growth. #waledchat
#waledchat A1 This year I gave away all my classroom posters (which are phrases I wrote on pictures I took). The kids were so excited to win a Mr. Toups poster. Even gave away the iconic Always Believe in Yourself sign. The Ss even wanted them autographed.
A1: 7th graders did some great work in their choice projects and I tried to type a personal comment on every assignment in our grading system. The 8th graders we shake hands/hugs on the last day as they walk out to the buses #waledchat
A1 moved our 8th grade recognition ceremony to evening--packed house! It was awesome, lots of tears of joy! Also working with a student on getting some exercise time in (I walk with them on the track for a little while) while I praise and tell stories. #waledchat
A1 I had a really nice group of Ss at the end of my day. They always made me smile so we had an awesome pizza party along with tons of other treats #waledchat
A1: I try to have at least 2 lunch bunches a week with my kiddos. Tomorrow as a matter of fact, I have another one. We celebrate accomplishments from the week and discuss what we’re looking forward to (P.S. the desserts are pretty sweet too 😉) #waledchat
A2: Our Bike-a-thon fundraiser set goals & at %'s classes earned prizes, Ice Cream, Movie in Auditorium, Pizza/Food, Movie Out, Field Trip. We did 215% so we're partying. #waledchat
A1: One of my students made a end of the year project so awesome that I cried so much that my next period told me I had makeup smeared on my face! They have my back like that. That counts as celebrating, right?! #waledchat
A1: we had donuts for breakfast one morning. The students worked really hard on a week long project. Today we did an Escape Room game on the Judicial Branch. #waledchat
A1: My #WeAreMCUSD classes earn stars ⭐️ for their efforts to “Be a Star” in my class! Once they hit 20 we have a party-we had pizza and watched Trolls together during lunch for my last group of the year!! #waledchat
A1 - We spent a two days watching their student produced films and had red carpet, popcorn, and a professional Q&A after. It was super awesome. #waledchat
A1: #waledchat with my 3rd grade group we would have group parties where we could chat about the book and I would buy them each their own copy of the book with a special note inside for them.
A1) we are gearing up for a huge academic celebration that honors this quarter achievement. Students are completing progress monitoring assessments this week. I also celebrate with them by having Ss back at lunch, bringing in treats, & extended brain breaks. #Waledchat
A1 Celebrations big and small happen regularly en una clase de espanol! Last night send pix of senior awards night to my classes...recently celebrated student success as National Spanish Honor Society Induction #waledchat
A1: My class pops balloons in honor of the last ten days of school to celebrate students' hard work all year! Each balloon has a different note for extra recess, show and tell, eat with the teacher, etc. For our last day tomorrow, students can choose their seat! #waledchat
A1: I failed for budgetary reasons but I tried to teach them competitive kite flying as a reward for reading The Kite Runner in beginner ESL. #waledchat
A1) Today we had a reading achievement recognition; students wrote what they wanted to recognize themselves for in terms of reading achievement from this year. Tomorrow we are writing inspirational quotes in chalk at bus loop to send off all Ss. #waledchat
We ended our school year with a book project, Animoto Booktrailer. Each student celebrated a novel by creating a book trailer just like a movie trailer. Kids ❤ to play with the music, digital images, and thematic symbols to represent and celebrate their books.
#waledchat
A1: I feel a little guilty to admit it, but I gave my kids a free day because they have worked hard all year and I told them that they deserved a break! #waledchat
So special! My 8th grade son still talks about the time his Gr3 T invited them all to her house at the end of the year - making memories for a lifetime! #waledchat
A1: After Ss simulated travel to their ancestor homelands in a problem based learning adventure we planned a "Welcome Home Party" where we had pizza & treats for a successful project completion w/ their returns back home to the U.S. #waledchat
Like, cutting down each other's kites. We would have had to purchase 60+ kites and first aid kits, though. It's rough on the hands. Gentle kite flying wouldn't have been as exciting. #waledchat
A1: We had our last day of regular classes today! Used LEGO WeDo kits to learn coding skills and how to problem solve. Enjoyed some social game time with a McDonalds party! #waledchat
A2: Celebrating with anyone is important because it makes them feel valued. Our students are no different.
We all crave positive praise- give credit where credit is due. #waledchat
It helps Ss feel part of the school community when you celebrate their achievements. Good grades are not the only successes we should be celebrating with Ss either. There are many celebrations in life.
#waledchat
A2 Kids don't get a paycheck and grades aren't tangible. They need something they can touch and have occasionally that builds a relationship between work and reward. #waledchat
A1: Tomorrow we are celebrating perfect attendance for week 1 of Summer School and announcing the winner of the "Tribe Ticket Frenzy" raffle. Ss will have a water balloon relay with @renathunderhawk and myself! #waledchat#pbis
A1) One of my Ss made his very own ice cream for the class! He brought it in just for fun! Even made it dairy free for Ss with allergies. So cool and he was so proud of himself! #waledchat
A2: Celebrating with anyone is important because it makes them feel valued. Our students are no different.
We all crave positive praise- give credit where credit is due. #waledchat
A2: Being a kid is tough work. Being present every day, dealing with stresses that we will never understand is not an easy job. Ss need to understand that we appreciate their effort and their "YES" when offered. Beyond this, many of the kids have nobody else cheering. #waledchat
A2: They need to know that we recognize their efforts and hard work. We should always try to lift them up and celebrate their growth and accomplishments! #waledchat
A2~ builds relationships based on trust, positivity & kindness ~ also a shared sense of togetherness & responsibility ~ shared ownership for the betterment of all #waledchat
A2 - Just like celebrating personal achievements, it marks the end of and accomplishment of a goal and it needs to be special. If we are teaching students life skills, this is a severely understated skill that needs to be in more classrooms. #waledchat
A2: Celebrations are a great way to unwind with our Ss and let them see us as "actual people" and not just the lead figure in the room. Get goofy people! #waledchat
No guilt! Everyone needs a break! I love when Ss have a choice in game day then use it to spark conversations about why they like particular games! #waledchat
A2: Celebrating shows that you noticed an accomplishment, acknowledge the effort-hard work-commitment, want to shout from the mountain tops how proud you are! #waledchat
A2: Celebrating WITH our students (not just celebrating them) is so very important. Students watch every move we make. It's important for us to model self-care, pride in our accomplishments, joy, gratitude, & the ability to let loose & have some FUN! #waledchat
A1. We finished our STEMCLUB with a party for the Ss, They chose the types of activities they wanted to do for the last meeting. Celebrated our final gathering for the year! #waledchat
A2: With my notes, I wanted every one of them to know that they were seen, heard, and valued in my room, and to know that they would be missed. I think sometimes as Ss get older we don’t make the time for this. My juniors and seniors had some of the greatest reactions #waledchat
A2: It was an awesome time to celebrate overcoming and learning from so many changes this year. I was the “new teacher” for them midway through the year. Successfully learned a new routine, instructional programs and expectations. #waledchat
A1: my teammate and I just had a BBQ reunion at a local park with our former students (gr. 7-9) and tomorrow after school gets out we have our annual get together we do with our newly former students! #waledchat
A2: In some schools, kids only come if they want to. I teach high school seniors who are 18-21 years old who are exhausted from working all night. Give them a reason to prioritize your class. #waledchat
A2: because it validates their actions/success/hard work/dedication when we take the time to celebrate whether a high five or a party. It gives it more value. #Waledchat
A2: Celebrating with anyone is important because it makes them feel valued. Our students are no different.
We all crave positive praise- give credit where credit is due. #waledchat
A2: Everyone loves a "party" no matter the size. Ss need to know that all their hard work is being seen and appriciated. A celebration for some bigger accomplishments really boosts them up. #waledchat
A2 It shows them that we need to take time to enjoy the victories. It also allows them to become more invested in the school community and reminds them of that to which they are working. #waledchat
A2: Celebrations are important because they give Ts & Ss time to be together & look back on all of the incredible accomplishments & memories from the past year. #waledchat
A2: recognizing them builds relationships. Makes them feel appreciated and appreciate themselves as well. I know that her project took forever to do.I made it known that I was aware of it. It makes it worth it when your efforts are appreciated rather than expected. #waledchat
A2 Celebrating with our Ss provides a tangible example of the rewards that students can achieve with hard work. Celebrations help build and add to sustaining a school culture where students' academic, social, emotional and positive leadership efforts are recognized #waledchat
A2) Ss need to celebrate ALL their accomplishments as a community of learners. We build each other up as the year closes so that they remain engaged and inspired with great memories to send them into summer. #waledchat
A2: it helps build culture in a school and helps Ss see their achievements and feel like a part of a community. Grades never tell the complete story. #waledchat
A2: #waledchat Celebrating is important for everyone. When we celebrate we create joy and a positive conclusion to whatever activity we have been doing. In turn, it will create excitement for the next activity. Who doesn't like to celebrate or be celebrated.
A2) celebrating hard work and accomplishing goals is just as significant as celebrating the big wins. We do it because it’s rewarding. We do it because it nourishes our soul. We do it because it’s fulfilling. We do it because it’s important! #Waledchat
A2: We CELEBRATE to APPRECIATE and show community accomplishments and hard work can have happy endings! Who doesn't like a good celebration of their hard work and achievements, even if you are shy? #waledchat
A2: Celebrating with my students to fall in love with reading truly change the dynamics of purposeful reading. Reading for joy & self-interest could inspire even reluctant readers to find great interests in books. Celebration = Joyful learning.🎉🖒
#waledchat
#waledchat A2 The most precious thing we possess is our childhood. MAKE EVERY MOMENT COUNT! Celebrate and make the memories that impact the kids in the future.
A3: Yes, a student was excited to share something with me. In the season of standardized testing, I have not been myself. I really should have stopped to celebrate with him. :( #waledchat
A2. Our Ss need to their appreciated for their hard work, their growth in learning, they are special and we care about them, time to unwind and have some fun! #waledchat
A3: I'm sure I have overlooked some times when a celebration was called for, I should have made a bigger event out of it. I will have to keep the thoughts more inmind this summer and into the fall. #waledchat
A1: I do this every yr with the Middle School on my birthday! A mom of an alum told me recently that this was his all-time favorite day in school. Creating memories! #waledchat
A2: I love the lasting relationships the way you celebrate builds with your students and the connections you make. They deserve to be celebrated!!! 💕I love when we do ours outside of school also because it makes you seem like a real approachable person. :)#waledchat
A3: The end of the year was such a whirlwind and I was so focused on finals... I forgot to celebrate the last day because I was going to see them the next day for finals. I wish we had taken some time to think about how far we’ve come and how much we’ve grown #waledchat
A3 - I always forget to celebrate the achievements outside of the classroom (athletics, student of the month, etc.) If it is not in front of me, I forget and I need to be better about that next year. #waledchat
A2: Bc they're only kids & also bc life can't be serious 100% all the time!!! Otherwise everyone would hate school & that is a culture killer #waledchat
A3: Every day. Happens at school and at home. All it takes sometimes is 15 seconds to stop and appreciate what my kids or someone else's kids are doing, but I get distracted by other fires that are blazing. My goal for next year is to relax, breathe, enjoy celebrating. #waledchat
A3: The only time I overlook it is if I neglect to ask what's going on in their lives. If I take the time to ask, I always find things to celebrate. #waledchat
A2: for many of the reasons everyone said. It builds a relationship with Ss and lets them know their hard work has not gone unnoticed. For some, School is the place they feel safe and successful and it’s nice to have fun. , #waledchat
A3: I miss the little moments - the high fives, the smile, the “well done” because I figure they know. Shame on me because I get down when too many of those go unsaid - they need it more than I do. 2018/2019 is the year of acknowledging the little things #waledchat
A3: Yes. We were trying to get some practice in before the standardized testing and I didn't prioritize our end of year celebration. :( Can't let that happen next year. #waledchat
A2: people can only work so hard for so long. Not only do people need a break every once in a while, but they also need to be rewarded for their hard work! #waledchat
A3: I wish that I could give a resounding heck no, but the reality is that we are human and miss stuff. When we do, we just need to make sure that we do eventually acknowledge that success. Delayed celebration can be just as fulfilling. #waledchat
Because this is how we “roll” @KirkElementary. In our “spare” time on the last Tuesday of the school yr, we still♥️to #TLAP on “Transformation Tuesday”
HaM’s Lucky Strikes🎳Bowling was just up our “alley” to review fractions! We had even had music & strobe lights! @burgessdave
A3: The end of the year creates some stress and makes you overlook some things. I had a S get cast on the Morning News team for our school next year and I missed the chance to celebrate. Fixed that today once I realized my misstep. #waledchat
A2: Celebrating with Ss is important because it shows that you care about them. It also helps build relationships and relationships are everything! #waledchat
A3: this same girl- she was in the drama play and I didn’t even know it. In fact, I felt like I didn’t build the relationship I should have with her to make something so meaningful about what she learned from my class. And that made me sad... #waledchat
A3: YES!!! When I get into the logistical pieces of my job - the managerial stuff - I am so focused on the details that I forget to celebrate with Ss unfortunately. Working on a way to fix this and still keep my sanity and organization. #waledchat
A3 Sometimes behavior problems and crises put my attention away from ss who need reward and celebrated. I try to get back to them as soon as possible, but sometimes those deescalations last a long time. #waledchat
A3: Absolutely. One of my students offered to help another student with his work, and I didn’t celebrate it enough. I was so impressed with his generous actions and I didn’t show it near enough. #waledchat
Hey. I’m Tracey from KS. I teach K-5 at a Therapeutic Learning Program. Just finished playing piano for church so I’m jumping in a bit late. #waledchat
A3: Sometimes it's easy to miss the opportunity to celebrate a wise decision! It's often easy to celebrate an action or outcome... but sometimes celebrating a tough choice is just as important! I've missed that a few times this year & vow to look harder next year. #waledchat
A3) I think that sometimes at this time of year we focus so much on proficiency because of the perception of our schools that we forget about the growth students have made #waledchat
A3: While we intend to celebrate every victory- sometimes we just get caught up in our daily routine. Being cognizant about celebrating in a more consistent manner is a personal/professional goal. #waledchat
Yes! Many missed ones on those endless weeks. Maybe a calendar reminder now for April next year to find a reason to celebrate kids that day 🤔#waledchat
A2 I think it's important to hear that you're on the right path, to know you have a champion in your corner, and it's our opportunity to model that it's not just passes or certain numbers, but about our own personal growth. #waledchat
A3: Absolutely! I tried to celebrate students who passed their end of the year state test, but didn’t have a chance to dive in and celebrate students who made gains in their scores. #waledchat
A3: Often we can overlook little successes when Ss are in an event. Ex: Thanks for having your hands safe even though you may be on the wrong side of the hall. Often we focus on the negative rather than positive #waledchat
A3~ yes... should of taken an extra few moments w/my S who worked hard on a project... way too in a rush to get to district testing ...duly noted & I’m making a conscious effort to never replicate this! #Waledchat
A3) unfortunately, yes, probably. I’m sure looking back even a few weeks ago I could find areas where I messed up and could have had an opportunityto cejebrate learning. #Waledchat
A1. We celebrated perfect attendance today! One lucky class dyed my hair. Tomorrow we will celebrate with a glow party, right @1Eleanorpatrick?!? #waledchat
A3) For the first time this year, I thought to ask Ss to identify their greatest achievement in reading. So interesting & I see how I've overlooked this for years: ex: can stay more focused when I read; I read a whole book in one week; I read more than any other year. #waledchat
A3: On Tuesdays during morning announcements, I read all the Ss names that earned a 100% on an @Achieve3000 article in their first try. This week, it completely slipped my mind- I felt terrible when I realized that I had missed it. Next Tuesday, I’m making a BIG deal! #waledchat
A3) Actually noticed this week helping Ss study for finals, a S remembered a piece of info from class I had forgotten. That’s a success to me. Had to go back and cheer her for that valuable piece of info! #waledchat
I think in classes that are less structured and maybe non-SOL(test drive ) you have more time to do this while in a class where there is a deadline you overlook that this may be something the students need/ would appreciate! #waledchat
By listening to them and setting goals together. When progress is made that calls for a celebration even if it is only a kind note or a small word of encouragement, “I knew you could do it!”
#waledchat
A3: When behavioral challenges arise, it makes me not want to celebrate their little successes. However that is the time when the student needs me to celebrate them the most. #waledchat
A3: I came into school this week to discover several cards and surprised hidden by students in my Innovation Lab. I still need to celebrate their kindness with a hug and a smile! #waledchat
A4: I just need to stop being selfish and really listen to the thing they are excited to share. After all, of all the people they could tell... they WANTED to tell ME! #waledchat
A3. As an AP, I try to attend every event... inevitably I miss a few if they are around the same time or st conflicting times. Missed attending Hero Boys & GOTR 5Ks #waledchat
A4 For me, I am going to become more intentional at being present, very present, with my students and classes. Whatever else is floating on my mind can wait. #Mindfulliteracy#waledchat
A4: Working to be in the moment. Instead of always thinking ahead and what is next. Taking the time to give an extra hug, high five, smartie from the smartie pants. We have to celebrate no matter the size. #waledchat.
#waledchat A3 Time is usually the culprit of missing the chance to honor the kids. The class period turn into days which turn into weeks. MAKE THE TIME to honor the kids!
A4 - Being present and aware of our students and what their needs are.
They get overloaded and sometimes just need to take a step off and celebrate how far they have come. #waledchat
I always give Ss an extra recess on my birthday! They love that they get more time to play. Sometimes I bring in a treat. I want to do pancakes next year. #waledchat
A4: I'm thinking about sharing students' happy news in my powerpoints. Google forms with anonymous or public submissions about awesome news from students' lives that I'll share once a week. #waledchat
A4: I need to mark on the calendar ahead of time to plan for celebrations with the kids. That way, it is on my mind. I also want to at least keep some cards on my desk to give kids who have had a success or a birthday. #waledchat
A4: It's all mindset and prioritization. We do what is most important to us. If checking email and responding to requests is more important to us, these will happen before celebration. Shifting our mindset to "what's important to them" makes celebration easier/organic. #waledchat
A4: I feel bad saying this but until I have a better system & routine for reaching out with the little things I’m going to make my self calendar alerts. Force myself in that moment to open my eyes and be more present! #waledchat
A4: Be systematic with behavior practices #pbis in our building follows a schedule and team meetings help promote intentional positivity. #leadwithpurpose#waledchat
A2: Celebrating with your kids is vital. It not only validates their hard work and successes, but it reminds them that learning is fun and, most importantly, shows you are proud of their achievements and love them which in turns BUILDS A POSITIVE CULTURE! ♥️
#waledchat
A1: We take time to celebrate every day with high fives, fist bumps, hugs, or dance parties. Today I was tutoring a kiddo and played a game with him and my daughter...they rocked it, so we had a dance party in the kitchen! They loved it! #waledchat
A4: #waledchat Better communication and better planning. I feel it is important to celebrate everything they accomplish since they work so hard during the year.
A5: Embed celebration times throughout the school day. Having a small group of students all day will help to target reflecting on and calling out successes. #waledchat
A4: Perhaps we can create a Celebration Board where students write their celebratory moments on post-it notes, then at the end of the month we celebrate ALL their accomplishments! Could help Ss become more aware of classmates' achievements, too! #waledchat
A4 We have to make time to celebrate. It should be a part of our culture. Taking the time to celebrate will help to take our Ss to the next level. #waledchat
A2. Celebrating with students - small victories, large successes and everything in between - lets students know that you care about them, value them and helps build relationships. Positive relationships are the foundation of a great class! #waledchat
A4: Next year is like to be better about pointing out those who are working hard, helping others, trying their best, etc., rather than letting those who are off task suck up so much of my attention #waledchat
A4) Actually added this bonus to my finals this week. Ss could get points for leaving information not on the test that they felt relevant to what we learned in the unit. Got the idea from a fellow tweeter (can’t remember who 🤦🏼♀️) #waledchat
A3: definitely! There is something to celebrate every day-and some days it’s easy to overlook things that are worth celebrating because we can get so busy with the day to day activities. There is ALWAYS #roomforimprovement in what I can celebrate with my Ss #waledchat
A4: Oh, it definitely takes conscientious efforts to find time and opportunities to celebrate students' growths. I try my best to provide student feedbacks to celebrate and encourage their learning progression. #studentfeedback#waledchat
A3: one of my students has been in social groups since kinder to learn how to converse with peers. Last week he was chatting with friends during independent work. I should have celebrated him engaging in conversation rather than discouraging him from talking! #waledchat
A4: You can make a point to celebrated a certain number of achievements a day. And can hopefully increase that over time! But putting it into your daily schedule will eventally allow it to naturally happen. #waledchat
A3 I feel like I missed the opportunity to celebrate with a student in another class over something he accomplished. I told myself "tomorrow" but then he left. Lesson learned to celebrate in the moment. #waledchat
A2: Celebrations are recognizing their hard work and effort. They show them we are watching them and we want to show them we are proud of them! #waledchat
A4: You can make a point to celebrated a certain number of achievements a day. And can hopefully increase that over time! But putting it into your daily schedule will eventally allow it to naturally happen. #waledchat
A4: Embed celebration times throughout the school day. Having a small group of students all day will help to target reflecting on and calling out successes. #waledchat
A4: conference with each ss at least once a week. Start off with small talk to see what’s going on in their lives. These lead to small authentic celebrations. Also love paper plate awards that the band teacher gave out this year. Would like to do it each quarter. #waledchat
A4 We always have a few minutes group convo at the beginning of class. I like to give shoutouts at that time, Everyone claps for the student who is getting the mention. Positive affirmations #waledchat
A4) I try to do this during my morning meetings every day; A quick "hats off" time for Ss to share what they have noticed others have done, or if they want to share something they are proud of about themselves. #waledchat
This resonates with me because I find myself holding back when I'm being observed, even though on normal occasions I would totally interrupt my lesson to celebrate something. #waledchat
A3. Unfortunately, we do miss things. Ss have special successes in other classes that aren't always shared, special events they participate in, and different things they do.#waledchat
A4: I think the answer lies in the question. I need to make more of a conscious effort to celebrate accomplishments. Too often, I find myself getting wrapped up in the hectic life of a teacher #waledchat
A4 Make sure their worthwhile and for them, not for show. I've seen instances where we worry more about photo opportunities or what the adult wants, that we forget that it's about THEIR celebration, their moment to shine. #waledchat
Cannot underestimate the importance of just saying hello and high fiving or fist bumping. Students need that engagement from their teachers. #waledchat
Happy early Birthday!
I occasionally make cakes in my free time (what is that??) and have come to really love them all. I suppose my go to would be chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. #backtobasics#waledchat
A4 Schedule it. Work with a team to coordinate those celebrations. Leave a note to write a celebration on each day, and read them at the end of the week/quarter/year! #waledchat
A5: Happy Birthday!! Anything with buttercream frosting. My personal birthday sweet is a mocha cream pie. Chocolate and Coffee decadence. MMMMMM. #waledchat
A3 I'm SURE I missed opportunities to celebrate with students. I am usually out at the buses in the morning greeting students with some morning tunes and checking in on life. The past few days have been busy with testing. I have definitely missed bus duty! #waledchat
Q4) planned celebrations are wonderful but equally significant are those smaller and often unexpected wins that calls for authentic on the spot recognition. They don’t have to be flashy. Making a real connection with Ss is everlasting. Just don’t miss those oops. #Waledchat
A5 Anything with caramel and lots of whipped cream. It could even be a corndog...as long as it has the caramel and cream. #waledchat Happy Birthday @MrPStrunk !!!!!
A5: Had a pre-debate about this earlier. Cheesecake is not cake. It's pie at best.
Best birthday treat: Banana Cream or Coconut Cream Pie. Cake can kick the can. #waledchat
A4: Be present during conversations, demonstrate genuine excitement, ask them to discuss the accomplishment in praise them on a specific detail. She then you care through your actions not just your words. #waledchat
A5: Happy Early Birthday, Phil! My favorite flavor of cake used to be Black Forest. Nowadays, I guess I like blueberry or strawberry cheese cake the best. #waledchat
A4: By building on and improving my personal relationships with my Ss where I can celebrate the things they do that also go BEYOND my classroom walls. #waledchat
A5: I love a dark chocolate cake and if it is permitted I mix it with vanilla ice cream. When it is mixed to a soup I call it "gravy train". I have done it since I was a kid. I think I will one day pitch it to Ben and Jerry's! #waledchat Happy birthday @MrPStrunk
A5: @katie_abramczyk makes many different cakes that you MUST sample when you come to Chicago, @MrPStrunk. Eclair cake, ho-ho cake, rich cheesecakes, delicious ice cream cakes, and many other sweet treats. However, I cannot say no to a slice of carrot cake. #waledchat
A4 Larger celebrations cannot happen often, but as @loliveira55 said, celebrations can be high 5's (Dame cinco!) playing a favorite song, a round of applause from the class, getting to have our cute stuffed sloth hang around your neck...create the culture #waledchat
A5: Happy bday a bit early @MrPStrunk. I like lots of different flavors. However, I make a really awesome rum cake that I get requests for. If I had to pick it would be a good old fashioned vanilla with chocoalate butter cream frosting. #waledchat
#waledchat A4: I need to slow down, especially this time of year. There is always so much to do I miss small things that can be important. Also, learning about what they do outside of school and celebrating those achievements too, awards, sports or community events.
A5: Funfetti! I always make my own birthday cake because I love it so much! Add a little vanilla frosting and some sprinkles and then you can enjoy a little slice of heaven 😍 #waledchat
A5) I make an ice cream cake: layer ice cream sandwiches, cool whip, heath bar pieces, chocolate and caramel sauce, then repeat layers ending with sauces. Freeze for a few hours; cut and enjoy! A family favorite. #waledchat

A5: a really rich chocolate cake with frosting in the middle and on top!!! Celiac here so a good cake is hard to find #waledchat Happy Early birthday @MrPStrunk !!!
A5: Happy-almost-birthday, Phil! How about some freshly made peach/blueberry cobbler?! (Neither cake, nor cheesecake. Walk on the wildside?!!) #waledchat
#waledchat A2 - Phil, Celebrating only helps build relationships. On both good or bad events, be present and engaged with the kids. Let them see that you are human. That's more authentic than any lessons or tip. Just be human.
I usually eat in 5 minutes. Sometimes it isn't a full lunch period. But a few minutes here and there can make a difference. What's is funny is I can save the steps taking my tray back and forth from the cafeteria too! #waledchat
A5) Happy Birthday @MrPStrunk. Ok I’m gonna be THAT kid...I gotta say PIE! It’s just too delicious to pass up with all the fruit and warm crust! Lol #waledchat
