Run by Iowa educators, #IAedchat is on Twitter the first, second, and third Sundays each month at 8:00pm CST. We have added #IAedchat LIVE to the fourth Sunday of the month at 8:00pm CST. This will take place in Google Hangout on Air. We will share the invitation and link to #IAedchat LIVE each month.

A1: I am looking forward to presenting at ISTE in Chicago. After applying multiple times, I finally was accepted. It's like getting to go to Disney. #IAedchat
A1 I am most excited about social/emotional aspects of learning being at the forefront of so many conversations. It’s no longer a ? of if kids need these types of supports in school, but instead how can we give them these tools and supports along with gen. academics #IAedchat
Gathering new ideas and suggestions to develop our plan for 18-19 a book study starting this month over Shift This in our school and watching our students continued growth #iaedchat
A1: The ability to start fresh. Think about the successes of the previous year and build upon them. New year = new start; however, we don't have to wait for this each year. Every day, week, month if we choose. #IAedchat
A1: Is everything a legit answer? LOL! Super excited about our #PBL journey as a district and campus and opening a new campus in our district! #iaedchat
A1) Awesome energy from colleagues and PLN. Excited about new learnings from the world of educators on Twitter and from #iaedchat then bringing it back for our Ss. Better in 2018. Lets go get em!! https://t.co/iihw897TAt
A1. New year gives Ss a "clean slate" feeling. New programs in place that are starting to take off! Staff starts #Culturize book study on Wednesday! Looking forward to seeing it all unfold! #IAedchat
A1: I am hoping to dive deeper into PBL & being more vulnerable by asking more peers to come observe me. I’ll also be finishing yr 1 and starting yr 2 of my MSE in Educational Leadership! 🎉 #IAedChat
A1: A new date on the calendar, a page turned. We are focusing on our culture of learning. We are going to own our journey, our data, and our destiny. No one tells us what we can be but us. So, we need to dig deep, lean in, and get after it. #iaedchat
A1: I am hoping to dive deeper into PBL & being more vulnerable by asking more peers to come observe me. I’ll also be finishing yr 1 and starting yr 2 of my MSE in Educational Leadership! 🎉 #IAedChat
A2: A goal I have for this year is to be resilient - moving forward after failure. When I take risks in the classroom, there will be failing moments. Failing, however, does not mean failURE. #IAedchat
A2: Challenge myself to grow as a professional. Take care of my health. Complete my Google Certified Trainer course. Be present. Keep reflecting & blogging! #iaedchat
A2: My goals for the year include developing and implementing the evaluation process of head coaches, looking for ways to improve in all capacities and pushing others to do so as well. #IAedchat
A2: push in more to work with S’s, stop saying there’s not enough time- we make time for the things that are important, keep focused on my one word “renew” to keep a positive attitude and positive thoughts even in the midst of difficult circumstances #IaedChat
A2: be bold. Courageously address anything that is not good for kids. Be brave to confront that which erodes our culture of learning. Otherwise, I am permitting failure for kids, colleagues, and community. #iaedchat
A2. This year I want to focus on growth. Growing as an educator, as a person, and helping my students grow into the people they want to become. #IAedchat
A2 break down the walls of the classroom with new connections! Working on connecting with former Bobcats that are currently in London and Romania, and diving into the Meskwaki culture with a current family! #IAedChat
A2: although I would love to make a long list of teacher goals in the classroom - one I have overlooked for years is to take care of my mental and physical health through my own passions and giving myself grace :) #iaedchat
A2: I would like to continue moving toward more authentic learning opportunities in my classroom. Would like to make global connections for the students, just keep keeping stuck in routines and not getting out there. #IAedchat
A2. I would like to continue to improve on targeted interventions more not only the students who are struggling, but also for those who are exceeding expectations. #iaedchat
A2: we are focusing on #BalancedLiteracy and I'm hoping to attend a #Fountas and #Pinnell training this year! I want 2get totally immersed in the methodology! #IAedchat
A2: To continue to find ways to support students and staff, build positive school culture, grow our atmosphere of kindness and family, and dive deep with #PBL#iaedchat
A2: push in more to work with S’s, stop saying there’s not enough time- we make time for the things that are important, keep focused on my one word “renew” to keep a positive attitude and positive thoughts even in the midst of difficult circumstances #IaedChat
A2: 1. launch my school blog in February 2. Continue to support Ss and Ts with our Ss who need emotional/bevavior Support. We went from 5 to 2 days of SSW and feel the impact. #iaedchat
Q3: Imagine it is December 31 of 2018. How will you know whether or not you have had a successful year? What criteria will you use to measure success? #IAedchat
A2: To continue to find ways to support students and staff, build positive school culture, grow our atmosphere of kindness and family, and dive deep with #PBL#iaedchat
A3: The way I assess Ss will be different as well as the workload. I want my Ss to ask the questions and produce their own outcome based on their choice. Not a cookie-cutter answer that clearly defines right or wrong. #IAedchat
Q3: Imagine it is December 31 of 2018. How will you know whether or not you have had a successful year? What criteria will you use to measure success? #IAedchat
A3: I will have had success if I am asked to continue in my role! I will also have had success if I can continue to push myself and the people that I work with to be the best they can be and get the most out of our student athletes. #IAedchat
A3 did my kids (home and school) feel safe, loved, supported, and challenged? Did I reflect and revise to move forward? Did I make memories that impact my life and others in positive ways? #IAedChat
A3: I will measure my success whether I was able to positively impact others. I will know I have done this by the interactions I have with others. Every opportunity counts. #IAedchat
A3: am I still employed? Ha! All kidding aside, is our data moving in the right direction? Does our perception data agree with our academic data about our learning environment? Are we who we say we are? #iaedchat
A3: my success criteria will be S’s and T’s being joyful about being st school knowing that they can 100% count on me. My personal success criteria will be that I can point to specific times when I could’ve gone down the rabbit hole of negativity and didn’t #IaedChat
A3 2018 will be a success if I have made the people around me better. We can better serve and do what is best for kids if I can inspire growth in our staff #IAedchat
A3 did my kids (home and school) feel safe, loved, supported, and challenged? Did I reflect and revise to move forward? Did I make memories that impact my life and others in positive ways? #IAedChat
That last statement is what I love the most, Nick. Are we who we say we are. So good. Does the brand promise match the brand experience? cc: @TonySinanis#IAedchat
A3: am I still employed? Ha! All kidding aside, is our data moving in the right direction? Does our perception data agree with our academic data about our learning environment? Are we who we say we are? #iaedchat
A3: I know I have found success when I have stopped complaining abt time & build positive habits to problem solve stress & negativity that seems overwhelming. I will also find myself asking my Ss more guiding ?s allowing them to be the expert! #iaedchat
A3: I will have attended several #BalancedLiteracy trainings both as teacher and administrator. I will understand the process n recognize the "look fors" when eval teachers. I will be able to walk the walk and talk the talk in all things BL and be a resource 4teachers #IAedchat
Q3: Imagine it is December 31 of 2018. How will you know whether or not you have had a successful year? What criteria will you use to measure success? #IAedchat
A3b are we still happy, passionate and enthusiastic about education building relationships and learning. That is a real measure for me beyond whether I met all my goals or not #iaedchat
A3. Reflecting back on the successes I had and the learning I made from the mistakes made. Using these experiences to set goals for 2019 (2019 sounds so space-age-- LOL) #iaedchat
A3: my success criteria will be S’s and T’s being joyful about being st school knowing that they can 100% count on me. My personal success criteria will be that I can point to specific times when I could’ve gone down the rabbit hole of negativity and didn’t #IaedChat
A3: I will review my Twitter feed and personal reflections. Did I do everything with the best interest of students in mind and find the positive in each situation? Did I do more to learn more, support more, etc.? #iaedchat
A3: I keep a list of the major accomplishments and have learned that having accountability partners keep my eye on the goal. It’s WAY too easy to get pulled into dealing with different attractions, some necessary some not, along the way #IAedChat
A4 a place where Ts and Ss break down the door to get in and have to be pushed out at the end of the day. Relationships rule the day and everyone has a desire to learn and lead on a daily basis #iaedchat
A4: My dream environment is one in which all have the opportunity to be successful and one where all can experience happiness but also be pushed to improve everyday. #IAedchat
A2: as both a student and a future educator, I’m excited to use 2017 as motivation for creative projects and movements in 2018! So much has happened in the last year, but now is not the time to sit back. Together we can make a change! #iaedchat

A4. I dream of a place where teachers have time to collaborate and plan. An environment of time investment in the continual professional/personal development. A focus on Trauma informed classrooms and schools. That is not too much to ask for, is it? #iaedchat
A4: The perfect environment isn’t about the things (although they’re nice) - it’s abt the people & their relationships. The best environment is full of passion, positivity, encouragement, & vulnerability in order to get better! #iaedchat
A4. Students are empowered and own their learning. Innovation is valued and encouraged. Positivity. Students and staff take pride in all aspects of the school. #IAedchat
A4 @townsleyaj will appreciate this, dream environment is where everything is Benton blue and gold! Joking aside (kind of) an environment that is supported and involved with the community-build that sense of belonging and pride goes sooo far! #IAedChat
A4: realizing there is not a "perfect school/work environment", I would simply like to know that Ts, Ss, and parents are excited about coming to school, brag to others what a great place we share and everything else will fall into place. #IAedchat
Joining late—need to get back into routine as we start back up from break tomorrow—love my two weeks off!! Julie, HS math at West High in Iowa City #IAedchat
A4: A welcoming office/entry area, engaged staff members willing to help everyone, students who love to be at school, resources to meet our goals. Basically, @EpworthElem. #iaedchat#eesbobcats
A4: Motivated staff who is connected with PLNs and read about their profession, no bells, kids pursuing their passion while expanding their minds. #IAedchat

Yusssss! It’s not about having the perfect Pinterest classroom. It’s about having a place where all Ss and Ts WANT to be and feel like they belong. #IAedChat
A4 A place designed for kids with kids in mind in which they break down the doors each day because they are that excited to come to school each day #iaedchat
A4. Students are empowered and own their learning. Innovation is valued and encouraged. Positivity. Students and staff take pride in all aspects of the school. #IAedchat

A4: We’re all in, every day, for every kid. We don’t make excuses, we make progress. Collaboration is the norm. Laughter and the roar of learning fills the halls, classrooms, and common spaces. Everyone is connected to each other. We keep learning. #iaedchat
A5: my friend & co-worker is my workout/healthy eating accountability partner. When I hit a wall I plan to think about what my goal is & why it is worth fighting for #iaedchat
A5 my tribe is pretty darn supportive, inspirational, and stubborn! They catch me fast when I’m heading south with simple pick-me-ups. Find your tribe, love them hard. #IAedChat
A5 I will depend on our staff and my PLN. When I hit that wall I will rely on my mentors our school admin team and most importantly time with my family to recharge #iaedchat
A5: my admin team and fellow counselors. I also want to spend more time in prayer about my concerns/worries/doubts and give those things to God- I can look for solutions, but don’t need to hang on to things in a way that will drag me or those around me down #IaedChat
A5: My family is always there for me no matter what. I have a tremendous staff who is able to step up, provide advice, and do what is needed when it is needed. Our administrative team is pretty amazing as well. Great support. #IAedchat
A5. Grit and Patience. Knowing that I am acting in the best interest of my Ss is my motivation. Having a strong and supportive leadership team is also key! #IAedchat
A5: ultimately, we’re accountable to the kids and families we serve. Why not ask them for the school they dream of and make it so? The wall provides 3 options: stand there and stare at it; Go over, under, through it; Turn around and figure out another way. #iaedchat
A5: Family is always the first place I go to recharge. And now that my boys are in their 20's I am starting to find that they are full of wisdom. #iaedchat
A4. Ss are empowered in their learning leading the way and taking control of their learning. Watching their passions grow in learning and seeing how they can apply it to real life problem solving! #iaedchat
A6: I will stop complaining. I will stop thinking of all the reasons why something might not work. I will stop worrying about 'what-if'. I will stop being afraid of failure. #iaedchat
A6: I can't say I'll stop, but I will work on ignoring the notifications of my Apple watch when I am in a conversation with someone...I have come to realize it is quite rude! #sorrytoalloffended#IAedchat
A6: reacting as if everything needs to be taken care of right then. When I hear of a need I can assess the level of immediacy and respond appropriately. Sometimes issues resolve on their own if we don’t jump in so fast to “solve” them. #IAedchat
A6: This is something heavy on my mind and been a focus for the last few months: I will stop making assumptions and be very aware of inclusive, rather than exclusive environments. This matters. Read this post from @Jeff_Zoul: https://t.co/EKctyaA0h1#IAedchat
I’m determined to stop going it alone. School counseling can be lonely so I will work with intention to move from me to WE as we head in to 2018. Together we are unstoppable! #dreambig#IAedchat
I read something recently that said “be curious, not judgmental”. Instead of judging someone or their actions we can ask questions that guide us to better understanding #iaedchat

A6: Being to critical of myself & others. We’re already held to a high standard. We make mistakes. I’m going to take time to learn from failures, stay focused on the Ss learning and gather/try new strategies to improve my own skill set. #iaedchat#grace
A7 kiss my (home) kids bye and tell them I love them tomorrow morning...welcome my (school) kids back and let them know how excited we are all back together tomorrow! #IAedChat
A7 make time to reflect daily on where we are, where I am, where we are going, how far we have come and have we or I done all that we can to move forward towards our goals #iaedchat
A7: Every interaction of every single day is an opportunity to build or break positive culture. What you say matters, what you do matters, what you think matters. Seize the opportunity with every interaction. #IAedchat
A7. I am going to be absolutely devout to my use of the Toyota Kata continual improvement process as a personal/professional development tool. #iaedchat
I’m determined to stop going it alone. School counseling can be lonely so I will work with intention to move from me to WE as we head in to 2018. Together we are unstoppable! #dreambig#IAedchat
A7: use my calendar to schedule in specific time with S’s and making positive phone calls. Also, do at least one thing every day that will make someone else’s day better
#IAedchat

A7: Keep a To-Do list with priorities that focus on S learning. As well as pushing myself to keep focused during prep time to take care of that list to take less home at night to give my own family as much time as I give other’s. #iaedchat
A7: Small step out of my comfort zone. I am trying to make the top of the Crowdsourced presentations at #ISTE18. Would love it it you all would help me out with a vote. It is lonely at the bottom with only one vote. https://t.co/suQqymnRpd … … via @isteconnects#iaedchat
