The first Twitter edchat in the Philippines, helping teachers grow their PLN, use tech in the classroom and promoting a culture of teachers helping teachers.
A1: My biggest takeaway from my most recent conference is the change that's happening in education. We are now moving from an industrial model where recall and understanding is enough to one that leverages the maker culture to teach content. #edchatPH
So envious I couldn't make it to ISTE this year, but I was happy to watch the live feed and the PD resources shared throughout the conference. #NotAtISTE2018#edchatPH
A1: My most recent PD could be summarized as: at the end of the day the content is important but the student's life should be the top priority. We need to take care of the person first and teaching content to the person second.#edchatPH
A1 The latest and biggest PD I attended recently was #ISTE2018 and my most significant takeaway was the reality that teachers really love learning new things! #edchatPH
A1: The latest one I attended was @EdTechTeam summit Dunedin and I realized the different places in the journey that teachers are in, and as a tech coach I've had to adjust. I'm so used to using the tools that I sometimes forget that some are just starting! #edchatPH
It seems that those who are resistant to change will always say this, dig their heels and ignore the evidence around them. Encouraging people in our PLN is so important! #edchatPH

They call that the curse of knowledge. All Ts go through that. We need to remember that our Ss and colleagues may be new to something that we've been teaching for years. I talked to @teach42 during the #TCEA conference before his talk, and what he said stuck w me...#edchatPH
While change takes time, I am grateful that finally we are seeing that the only way to really improve learning when it looks at each person's needs before the whole class. #edchatPH

It's definitely an adjustment. I sometimes do advanced classes for teachers, and so have had to personalize the learning for Ts of varying degrees of proficiency in the skill/tool. #edchatPH
A2: A component where you can apply what you have just learned i.e. How does this look like when applied to your curriculum? in your classroom? #edchatPH
Agreed! One thing that every student will need, though, is the ability to come up with creative solutions to original, out of the box challenges. #edchatPH
Yes, and now change is happening at a far rapid pace. I also believe we lose a part of the child in us because we've been schooled to avoid mistakes and to fear being wrong. #runawayfromsafety#edchatPH
Similar to something @betchaboy said in a conference recently. When we attend a seminar/PD event, there's so many things to learn, but we should always ask ourselves, "How can I apply this in my classroom?" #edchatPH
We always forget that that's the purpose of attending these workshops. If I can't apply it, I walk out and look for others I can join (during conferences). #edchatPH
I always love the experience of knowing new people and learning from their experiences. And of course, continuing the connection even after the seminar is over. #edchatPH
A3: I've done a short one recently and did an inquiry-approach. I provided student samples & asked the participants what they saw, what they're thinking. In other words, I let them spoke & share instead of me leading the discussion. #edchatPH
a3 I would use interactive slides like Peardeck or Nearpod so participants can pose and respond to questions silently, back up to previous slides, look at links, etc. #edchatph
A2: Instructional coaching!!! Professional development is good but unless we are constantly looking at our pedagogy we can't get the most out of what we're learning. If professional athletes(who are good at what they do) still ask for coaching then why don't we? #edchatPH
I can never thank you enough @_marymanzano thank you. You should share this in our conference in October. Thanks from being one of the most influential leaders of the Teacher Education Network. #edchatPH
Thank you for moderating today's chat even on short notice.
I've hear Nearpod is better for providing written feedback, but I haven't looked into it.I bought the upgrade for Peardeck so I can watch students work math problems, drawing on the slides. #edchatPH
