TODAY at 4pm PST @GoNoodle is taking over #dojochat and we couldn't be more excited! ๐ Don't miss out on one of our final chats of the year (and RT to remind your friends ๐)
#dojochat So excited to join the Twitter char. I am Chris who is now studying in University of Washington. My academic progress relies heavily on my relationship with my teachers and parents. Canโt wait to discuss with all the experts!
Hi my name is Kieran Mehta and I am a student at University of Washington studying Early Childhood and Family Studies and this is my very first twitter chat! :-) #dojochat#AdultUW
A1 : The GoNoodle team will be busy cooking up throwbacks and serving out prize packs for you to jam to all summer long and on the go! Learn more here https://t.co/D3yaubhTvI#dojochat#GoNoodleGoSummer
A1 This summer I plan on spending some time at the beach. I'm also starting my Specialist Degree so I guess my beach reading will be textbooks. #dojochat
A1 this summer we'll be at #ISTE18 ๐ Add us to your calendars because we can't wait to meet IRL! ๐Join us Wed, June 27th @ 8am @SpokeAndBird RT to tell your friends ๐บ https://t.co/x8jDGBL1Fj#dojochat
#dojochat I am about take summer full term course when majority of my friends go back home and party. My dependence on teachers and parents will add to a real high level.
A2: Summer is the perfect time to relax and unwind! We encourage you to find a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness, strike a yoga pose, or dance like nobodyโs watching! https://t.co/RtOV3ejwqI#dojochat#gonoodlegosummer
A1 #dojochat I plan on learning as much as I can about 5th grade since I am moving up, planning a fun and engaging unit on Rocket Science, camping in the Sierras and reading.
A2 This is always the hardest right!? I've been gifted with a few massages but never even got around to using them! Make time for yourself this summer teachers (you earned it) ๐ #dojochat
A2 I recharge in the quiet, reading and reflecting on God's word, gardening, and spending time in nature. I am also reconnecting with my love for the desert collecting rocks. #dojochat
Q3: Self care is important for kids, too! What tips do you have for encouraging kids (your own or students) to stay healthy during summer vacation? #DojoChat

A3 I would make a summer packet before sending them off with book recommendations, great sites to continue their learning, etc. But getting outside was always a FULL page to push, exercise is important too! #dojochat
A3: We encourage kiddos to get up & move multiple times a day with friends or family! Challenge your fam to a dance-off or start your morning w/ a yoga session w/ your siblings! Itโs also fun to switch things up and move at the park or on the beach! #dojochat#gonoodlegosummer
A3: Hey hey jumping in late K teach, tech coach, NJ. I tell my Ss to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and PLAY OUTSIDE, get off the devices โบ๏ธ #dojochat
A3: I have my own child earn screen time by completing a list of healthy chores (take the dog for a walk, ride your bike, read under a tree, create something outdoors, etc). I recommend my students parents do the same. #dojochat
Created a summer bingo to stay active and in touch over the summer. #dojochat
Included activities are: go swimming 25 times, go birdwatching around your neighborhood and of course participate in your favorite @GoNoodle activities!
A3 (full disclosure: I am not a teacher.. yet) but I would encourage my kids to go outside and spend as much time as possible outside!! And explain to them how Nature can do wonders! #dojochat#AdultUW
#dojochat A3: i always worry about my kiddos getting enough tip ready over the summer, I make sure they know where to get a meal whether it's at school our elsewhere

I encourage my students to go outside and play (early in the morning or it's really hot!). I also ask them to find something they love to do and take some time to do it. #dojochat

A3 I encourage kids to have fun, relax, swim, play, wear lots of sunscreen. I also asked them to take time out from their computer games and hone their Math skills and enjoy reading a good book #dojochat
A4: Schedule some โme-timeโ on your calendar each day. Even if itโs just 5 minutes, complete an activity that is just for you at the same time each day to make it a habit! #dojochat#gonoodlegosummer
A4: Itโs likeeally challenging. My plan for the summer is to get up early and hit the boardwalk with my bike. If I donโt get it done early, I get wrapped up doing other stuff. #dojochat
A4 I finally caved & got a FitBit, if I don't move enough it will remind me to get my steps in! I'm also COMMITTING to CrossFit Monday-Friday ๐ช Also, the teacher squat is a great way to get in some exercise - just constant student check ins #dojochat#teacherlife
Q4: I love to do GoNoodle with my class!!! Best way to get moving during the day! I also try to take walks while my daughter is in dance class. #DojoChat
A4: pick up the pace when walking through stores, take the stairs, park a ways away from the door, my Apple Watch is helpful in keeping me accountable #dojochat
At home I set aside an hour everyday for yoga or roller skating. At school I utilize #brainbreaks on @gonoodle and get a movement activity going. I also hold in class competitions for students who can do the most jumping jacks, best dance moves or beat me at something. #dojochat

A4 Ah, the exercise thing. I haven't figured this one out yet.I'm working on the masters and teaching, so there never seems to be enough time. I'm hoping to make it such a part of my routine this summer that I keep it going when the school year begins in the fall. #dojochat.
A4: I'm horrible for this as we are done at 4:30 and am wiped. I am also currently 30 to 40 mins from a pool or gym. So I try to stay on my feet more during the work day and fit in runs outside on my weekends. #dojochat
#dojochat Busy schedule sometimes means that I am ineffectively using my time. I just make the best use of my time and guarantee I have 2 hours for whole set of exercise.
A4: I go to bed early 8:30 and get up at 4:30am for a gym sesh five days/wk. It super duper hard at first but eventually your body (kind of) gets used to it.๐ #dojochat
A5: Of course we love when schools use GoNoodle to encourage movement and mindfulness in the classroom! We also enjoy seeing how schools incorporate healthy snacks, gardening and flexible seating. #dojochat#gonoodlegosummer
A5 We do Jump Rope for Heart, Kilometer Club, and Fitness Challenges. In the classrooms, having that Brain Break with movement using GoNoodle is a life saver too! #dojochat
A5 When I was in the classroom, we GoNoodled every. single. day. But, there's not a school-wide initiative for movement other than PE that I know of at either of my schools now. #dojochat
A5 Bike to School day, Field day, GoNoodle, eating things we've grown in the garden, even the teachers got together to work out after school! ๐ช #dojochat
A5: my scheduleol encourages movement breaks in the classroom. We never get enough outside recess time, though. I wish it was built into our schedule. #dojochat
A4 #dojochat I just HAVE to schedule it!!! I try to work out first thing. Feels so good to get moving and then I have the whole day in front of me. AND, it gets HOT in Texas.
Q3 I limit my kid's screen time and we have forced family fun time scheduled. Like bike rides, hikes & beach outings. Sometimes we just drive to a surprise location for a picnic! #DojoChat
A4 #dojochat I set my clock and get up, put on my workout clothes, go into the living room and pop in Jillian. I also watch a motivational youtube video called get up and get it done.
Q5: We have psychomotor once a week with a certified PE coach. We also try to fit in GoNoodle a few times a week as well as going outside to learn and play. #DojoChat
A5: We used to have a nutritionist/dietician come in and do healthy eating stuff with the Ss but that got axed. We have gym daily but that's it. We have a pop machine in our school that we all hate. Not very good modeling. #dojochat

A6 You mean besides the annual back to school nightmare every teacher has?? I try to start going to bed before 2 AM and getting up before 10...hahaha #dojochat
A5 #dojochat we use GoNoodle A LOT! Also, we are a Fuel up to Play60 school so we incorporate that. On Wed? The cafeteria prepares fruit-infused water for the kids โค๏ธ
A6 I slowly break back into the school schedule, getting my daily routine back a week or two before school. I also like to get into my classroom before pre-planning so I feel super prepared! #dojochat
A6: I like to get my room super organized at the end of August, so I can leave school as soon as the bell rings. Family time is so important at the beginning of the year because I get overwhelmed with all there is to accomplish. #dojochat
We have a 21 day challenge every year where students create healthy snacks and meals that we compile into a recipe book. I encourage all my #students to do this all year long by sharing our favorites and taking pictures of their delicious food! #dojochat
Movement and exercise is always embedded throughout the day in my first grade classroom! It is so important for them AND for me to get refocused. Plus it's fun! @GoNoodle is a favorite ๐ #dojochat#cuiedtech
Q6: I love the beginning of the school year because it is a clean slate! I also send myself fresh flowers for the first day of school itโs a beautiful way to start the year!!!!#DojoChat
A6: I make time to go in to my classroom a few times over the summer to rearrange, freshen up, and get myself recharged before BtS at the end of July. It gives me time to breathe during preplanning & time to catch up with friends and not stress before the first day! #dojochat
A7: Don't be afraid to stand your ground. Don't be afraid to say no! It takes alot of confidence but feels good to draw your own line in the sand. #dojochat
A7 Take time for yourself. Don't grade every single piece of paper that comes across your desk, and don't go to school on the weekends! Enjoy your time doing stuff you WANT to do instead of what you think you HAVE to do. #dojochat
A7: Meditation! Between a master's program, full time teaching, mom to 2 young children, and wife, I can honestly say this daily routine (even 2 mins/day) saved me! #dojochat#cuiedtech
A7 I'll refer back to my A2
Give yourself permission to RELAX! Doing nothing for a few days is healthy! Get a massage! Read for fun!! Netflix! Your mental & physical health is so important. Make it a priority! #dojochat
A7: donโt sweat the small stuff (its hard to do!), keep a running to donlist and prioritize it, and get a desk calendar and whenever an email comes in with a date or deadline, write it down! #dojochat
Stay centered and breathe. You are there for your students and not everything has to be (or will be) perfect. Make time for you and take a mental break when needed. #dojochat
#dojochat learn something new or try something you wanted to do this year and write down a list of things you too things want to have accomplished so you can do those when you feel like it over the summer ๐
#dojochat A5 We have early Wednesdayโs, but other than that, there is no promotion of healthfulness or wellness amongst peers. A certain group of Ts are welcomed to workout, but the rest of the staff is left out.
