Last Monday's workshop on in-house PD was a game-changer for me and @jhweinstein. We're still committed to integrating student values into the curriculum, but the book after that is going to be about empowering teachers to empower each other. #bfc530

The NASSP National Principals Conference that I attended in July was a game changer. It’s always great to meet other Principals from across the country and share ideas w/them. Some of the professional reading I’ve done this year was inspired at the conference! #BFC530
We have been working on district MTSS implementation with the leadership of @bhall_acs. This framework for ALL to improve our schools is a game changer. It’s how we do school. MTSS is the bus that drives ALL we do now! #bfc530
My own personal learning happens on twitter, or reading prof books & blogs. A true game changer for me was flipping my feedback in writing workshop. No more grading papers on the weekend & Ss are learning so much more! #bfc530
Inspired by @gcouros and @DanielPink, we held our second teacher-driven FedEx Day. Ts have autonomy to innovate a change at the school and present to peers 24 hours later.
Every component of this year's SIP includes something from this day so T-voice is robust!

On last PD day, we put up the photos of every kid in the school & had staff indicate their level of connection w/ them w/ coloured dot stickers. It was designed to ID what Ss needed more T connection/ support. Very powerful for all; lots of great Q’s & ideas came from it #BFC530
We did PD choice boards this year, allowing me to find the PD that’s right for me. FUN! Then a required reflection allowed deeper thought. Two biggest game changers were choosing to read #shiftthis by @JoyKirr and watching @DitchThatTxtbk webinars with @jmattmiller#bfc530

I always find something new and fun to use after attending an edcamp - even if not from a presentation, but just by connecting and chatting with other educators you meet there, you come away filled with new ideas. Literacy based nErDcamp was just last month. #bfc530
I attended a conference regarding cybersecurity and privacy in gov't agencies. Eye opening as many school districts are now a focus of attacks and we don't have the resources to protect our networks and data. #bfc530#njed#edtechchat#edtechbridge#privacy#cybersecurity

It seems that the best PD is is not one that the whole staff attends, but driven independently by teachers or teams. I’m still confused then why we sit through mandatory PDs...(I actually know...some are mandated, but maybe it shouldn’t be called PD) #BFC530

Plus all that extra data collection with no extra time to complete (because what the teachers were doing was not organized the right way) ... I know teachers love that. #bfc530 a little snarky because I saw teachers crushed by this workload.

I attended a equity leadership conference in January. The keynote was on social emotional learning habits that I knew but could articulate. Presenter did that and brought research to substantiate the disparities that existed and continue to exist. Eye opener! #bfc530

Morning, #bfc530. One experience that sticks w/me is #edtechteam session led by @ImAmyBurvall , which helped me see play & seriousness of learning purposes need not be mutually exclusive. Still working on how to hit those sweet spots regularly; having fun trying.
My PLN and podcast are all i have for PD. I continue learning & hoping what i do everyday will turn into a job. A job will be my ultimate game changer #bfc530
