This week we are focusing on "Mastering Master Scheduling."
-
Q1: At what point in the year do you begin the master schedule process, and where do you start?
-
A1: We start halfway into the prior year. We always are looking for strategic movement & maximizing Ss learning & choice.
-
Q2: What steps do you take to ensure that all voices are heard in the scheduling process?
-
A1. Variables involved. Seen schedules finished before the end of the year, as well as not finished until just before school starts.
-
A1: Scheduling starts with our IGPs in January since we have a student-driven schedule
-
A2: Staff input is a must. We always use staff-driven surveys and also consider Teaching Working Conditions Survey.
-
A2: S and P voices heard through the IGP process which includes course requests, T's are heard through Google Form for preference
-
Q3: Building a master schedule requires balance. How do you balance class size with student need?
-
A2. Master schedule should be created based on what is best for students, allow T input.
-
A3 Course sections are determined by priority 1: S need/requests. Goal is class size <28. T preference is priority 2.
