A1. Knowing that you made someone else feel good about themselves or an accomplishment they had is a good feeling. We should all remember to do it more often! We all have the “super” power to make someone’s day! #COLchat
  • ochoajon8 Sep 17 @ 9:06 PM EDT
A1 it means everything! No matter how i feel when i get to my room, i have to give everything i have to my Ss. Usually feel great about 10 minutes into teaching #COLchat
  • WaltKozlowski Sep 17 @ 9:07 PM EDT
I agree! When you enjoy what you do and pour yourself into those you are working with and for . . . it feels good. #colchat

A1. This reminds me to surround myself with good people. Laughter is the best medicine and life isn’t always easy but being there for one another is what a team is all about. #COLchat
  • jackiemay2011 Sep 17 @ 9:08 PM EDT
Q1: Makes me think of the role of an educator. After practicing, teaching leads to mastery of a skill. Similar concept? #colchat
  • FbellomoB Sep 17 @ 9:09 PM EDT
Q2. How can we ensure those with whom we work (students, families, colleagues) are getting the best we have to offer each day? #COLchat

A2 Everyday we have a chance to choose our attitude. I try to be the reason someone smiles each day #COLchat
  • FbellomoB Sep 17 @ 9:11 PM EDT
A2. What we do in education is so very important. We all depend on each other (staff, students, families). We are a team and when everyone sees their teammate giving it their all they too have the desire to do their part. You don’t want to let each other down. #COLchat

A2: We have to bring our "A" game to our classrooms and schools every day. Students deserve it! #COLchat
  • jackiemay2011 Sep 17 @ 9:13 PM EDT
A2: By developing genuine relationships with those who matter in our work: students, families, colleagues, etc. The more we know and connect with them, the more we care about them, and giving our best becomes a given #COLchat

Q3: How do we "seek to discover the best in others" as Ward suggests? #COLchat
  • WaltKozlowski Sep 17 @ 9:14 PM EDT

A3. When we are negative we can find flaw in anything. Being able to find the good in someone or something comes from our willingness to be positive and when we are positive we are at our best. Did I just use the word positive too much? I think I did. #COLchat
  • WaltKozlowski Sep 17 @ 9:16 PM EDT

  • jackiemay2011 Sep 17 @ 9:19 PM EDT
Agree! "Assume the best" has become my personal mantra. It makes it so much easier to develop genuine and positive relationships with those around me, which in turn makes it easier to be my best self for others #COLchat

A4. I have known and still do know teachers and leaders who have given a great deal of their “light” to others. I’ve seen teachers devoting every oz. of light they have in order to see their students shine and colleagues who give their best for fellow colleagues 2 shine. #COLchat

  • Caroline_Acqua Sep 17 @ 9:22 PM EDT
A4. I have seen countless teachers give extra time and resources with no "pay" in order to better their students. In response, they have said the success and gratitude from their students was pay itself. #COLchat
    In reply to @FbellomoB
  • WaltKozlowski Sep 17 @ 9:23 PM EDT
A4: Have had the pleasure to work with many educators who give of themselves selflessly so that students get the care and support they need - even when it's not convenient. #COLchat
  • WaltKozlowski Sep 17 @ 9:24 PM EDT
Q5: Educators are leaders. How do you follow these words from @JohnCMaxwell and empower the students or the staff members you lead? #COLchat

A5. Allowing others to share their ideas and entrusting fellow team members with opportunities to lead. Our school is made up of many talented students and adults. I’d be a fool to think most of our best ideas didn’t come from the team. Others can and should lead. #COLchat
  • WaltKozlowski Sep 17 @ 9:26 PM EDT

  • Caroline_Acqua Sep 17 @ 9:31 PM EDT
A6: I think that giving respect and knowing each student personally is a great way to raise the bar. The "bar" is different for each student, and we must respect and understand each student as the unique individual they are! #COLchat

Building trust is so important! It takes so much time and for those that need our relationship the most it can take even longer…..Once we have that trust and positive relationship though, great things will happen. #COLchat
