John from Mexico City where I lead an international American school. Spending a long holiday weekend in NJ/NY with family and currently keeping an eye on the @NYRangers#NYEDChat
Jeremy, parent and an education communications professional, Connecticut. So I’m a New York neighbor. I’m also a particular fan of digital citizenship. #nyedchat
The obvious answer is it’s everyone’s responsibility... but then there’s the danger of it being no one’s. Teachers have a role. Parents have a role. It’s important for everyone to take personal responsibility. #digcit#nyedchat A1
A1: Excellent point! My first thought was "everyone's" but, there should be a "buck stops here" approach, I think. At least it should be built into the curriculum. At my school, the teacher-librarian takes the lead. #nyedchat

A1: All great thoughts so far. I also think the students need to become more responsible as they get older. And they should also be helping to teach the younger students #NYEDChat
A1 - It is everyone's responsibility to teach #digcit Needs to be continuous! But I also believe this should be a recurring unit in its own right. It is that important. #NYEDChat
A1: It is all of our responsibility to teach digital citizenship just like we teach how to be a good classroom citizen. It has the same principals...be safe, be kind, and think before you say/text/etc. #nyedchat
We #growPLN exponentially as we network, learn, and share at #NYEDChat . Rita, thanks for being our guest moderator on 2.18 (DATE CHANGE for #NYEDChat )
A2 I use it in face to face conversations with students, in our monthly assemblies, and by modeling appropriate digital citizenship with our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts. #nyedchat
A2 Appropriate digital citizenship must be modeled by all educators and leaders at all times. Students are always watching and must see it in action. #NYedchat
A2: We have to model it and live by what we are teaching. Always learning more about #digcit because it is always changing. Share our missteps and learning. #NYEDChat

And no reason students can’t also teach those who are older—i.e., adults. Seriously. Today’s kids have unique insights on the digital world. #DigCit#NYEDChat

My Reflaction is to demonstrate to staff that becoming more savvy is critical to their safety and the students and to help them continue to model appropriate digital citizenship throughout the day. #NYEDChat
Thank you @@EdTechHFCSD for guest moderating and @LisaMeade23 for moderating #nyedchat tonight. Thank you to all are participants for chiming in on our imp topic #digitalcitizenship.
I love it. I wish schools would adopt that approach more than the one-and-done info night run by a police officer. That sends a lousy message. #DigCit#NYEDChat@DigEquityPLN
My reflaction (reflection + action) is that we are all learning along with our students. It's important that we continue to model and teach #digcit#nyedchat
