A1 Our school is working to be 1:1. We have MacBooks, iPads, Chromebooks and ActivPanels. When I was in the classroom I loved using structures w/ tech as a tool. It’s very easy to integrate just as you do any other piece of instructional material #KaganChat
A1 #KaganChat Our elem Ss use iPads & Chromebooks and our MS & HS Ss have Chromebooks. One example is using chromebooks with RoundTable adding to a shared doc
A1 we have iPads and laptops.. but I can only get 6 at a time, so using them with structures hasn’t really happened. Hoping for some ideas tonight! #KaganChat
We've used Doodle Buddy on the iPads with the structure Match Mine @llglass, I think that could work with your limited devices and age group

A2 #KaganChat Doing Think, Write, RoundRobin works with a shared doc on Chromebooks; Using iPads for Match Mine with Doodle Buddy has worked with adults and elem Ss. RallyCoach with any device to teach a new app, how to submit an assignment to our LMS, etc.
A2 Match Mine on basic drawing apps has been fun for geometric figures as something very simple. @Flipgrid as a round table for comprehension in ELA has been fun. Pairing tech and structures makes possibilities endless because neither are content specific #KaganChat

#Kaganchat I saw a powerful MatchMine last week in Fairfield, Ohio. Student had to place shape images into a blank PowerPoint slide and work on describing the shading, and the weight of the outlines, and the placement.
A3 Don’t fall into a trap of using tech as an expensive worksheet but also don’t be afraid to get creative with tech in using a structure, especially out of fear that kids won’t be able to handle it #KaganChat
A3 #Kaganchat Avoid falling into the trap of thinking that technology will add novelty to the classroom. Technology is simply an expectation of our young people (and our world today), not a novelty.
I agree with @rickatkagan and @MrCoachEli that we need to make a professional judgment about the tool we use to enhance the learning of our Ss. Sometimes tech is the right choice & sometimes it's not, but we've discovered that tech & @KaganOnline structures can mix. #KaganChat
A4: Create a table on shared docs & stay in your own row of a table on a shared doc to eliminate frustration with multiple cursors in one space. Simple, but important! #KaganChat
I use my Smartboard in my classroom where I'll pose a question, give the groups think time, and then call a number to have that student come up and write on the smartboard with their answers. In 10 mins, I have the entire class engaged. #KaganChat#JustALittleLate
A4: Incorporate the gambits of how to coach and praise when using RallyCoach with tech, just as you would w/out tech. The P of PIES can help w/digital citizenship too

A4 Just like structures in a “traditional” way need to be introduced and practiced content free, they still need to be w/ tech. Tech is such a part of our S’s lives that trust them and take the chance, social skills will be natural w/ it over time. #KaganChat

A5 In my state I don’t think we do a great job w/ PD. So I heavily rely on SM for my growth. Best part over the years was SM leading to me getting a Kagan Summer Academy scholarship last year #KaganChat
A5: Twitter has expanded my PLN! I learn from others outside my district daily thanks to chats like this & people I follow. Some of our Ss @officialSPS are creating their own Profile of a Learner with tech tools & social media. #kaganchat
I’ve only seen it used individually. I’ve seen students really enjoy it. Perhaps if students had a shared user in pairs or teams? Doesn’t it keep points too that all Ss can see? If so, you would really need to set a class goal or it would be a civil war. #KaganChat
I don't understand the question. Unfortunately, at my school, social media pages are blocked on the computers. So, this question doesn't apply. #KaganChat
A5 #Kaganchat I find that social media is used after school in the evenings and on weekends. Twitter chats have been some of the best PD Ive received (and enabled me to make many new professional friends!).
A6: I agree with Dr. Kagan's "structures for a lifetime" and think that as we move forward we'll need to think about how 2 choose the right tools for our purpose. Just as we consider functions of structures, consider tools that fit best. #KaganChat
A6 we need to plan for each child to have access to computers- I know some already have them, but my school doesn’t. We also need to prepare for a world where things change in a heartbeat. #KaganChat
