I have been going to conferences this year where all we do is design PBAs. It is an absolute blast to be able to develop authentic activities for students and it has forever changed the way I will teach! #fearlessedchat@LCSCoach
A1: PD that I love is collaborative and has everyone taking something away. We've made a great shift to this, so too many to pick just one.

A1: Anything led by students. We have some bright and shining stars from @Simmonsknights1. Any time that we let the kids take the lead, it is magic. #fearlessedchat

A1: Attended an amazing PD today by @JamesNottinghm that inspired me to measure and use student progress: focusing on "improving" and not just "proving"! #fearlessedchat

A1: I really enjoyed #t21con that @educationISU puts on every year. @RaeHughart spoke, and she inspired me in many ways. I remember leaving and knowing that she was a teacher that I aspired to be like one day. #fearlessedchat
Lots of great conversations tonight! Feel free to jump in after #fearlessedchat and read all the awesomeness! I'll still be here replying to all the great discussions. #122edchat

A2: When the PD makes me feel like I am a professional and has me working with other educators with some guidance.... hmmmm could we say the same thing about designing this kind of experience for our students?... #fearlessedchat
A2: Valuable PD provides for voice and choice for participants. With that foundation meaningful collaboration and takeaways abound. Great PD never has someone watching the clock.

We have had session in class where underclassmen led the older kids in techniques to produce stop motion. @megan_hacholski can add color to this. We also had kids showcase how they were incorporating tech into their daily learning. Seeing tech through their eyes. #fearlessedchat

A2: I love when PD allows me to feel inspired and ready to make a change in my classroom. Personally, I love learning about PLNs and new technology to try in the classroom. #fearlessedchat
A2: PD is valuable when I walk away with strategies that I want to implement THE VERY NEXT DAY. It also has to be led by Ts who view students as sources of expertise who are at the center of all we do #fearlessedchat
A2. By far, the connections made in my Personal PD is most valuable. My teaching has been transformed by so many mentors far and wide. Second... I would say, really tangible practical applications I can use like NOW. #fearlessedchat
A2:
A valuable PD for me is steeped in theory, but the presenter gets down to the nitty gritty, so we can take back and use it right away!
#Fearlessedchat
A2 When I walk away and say I have to do that in class tomorrow. I have left a workshop, gone home and totally reworked the lesson for the next day. #Fearlessedchat
A2) If you can learn something from it. We make a choice to learn or not, and we should be able to every time PD. If the presenter is excited, and I can apply it tomorrow, all the better! #fearlessedchat
A2. If I can take away from a PD new information that I didn't previously know and utilize it in everyday situations or in the classroom. #fearlessedchat
A1: ❤️ Best PD in recent memory was at the #CFERForum sponsored by @amplify. So many inspirational speakers & great takeaways for improvement ❤️ #fearlessEdChat
That implies a connection is made. So powerful. How many PD's have we attended with non, or very little interaction with presenter?? :( #fearlessedchat
A1: #fearlessEdChat We attend the Lesley Literacy Conference each year as a building/district. Always so many great take aways, as well new connections!
A3: When the presenter only uses examples from their classroom and their content. It is great hearing about how to apply certain strategies in a math/ELA classroom, but I teach history so sometimes I need different strategies. #fearlessedchat
A3 PD that is not aligned with the message. for example, we are going to talk about how to teach in a new revolutionary way, so here is a powerpoint (argggg). Sit and listen to me for 4 hours!!!! #Fearlessedchat
A3: My biggest pet peeve about PD would be when the person presenting is not engaging with the audience and just speaks from a powerpoint. I want PD to be meaningful and relevant. #fearlessedchat
A3: Pet peeve is when I'm treated like a student. It's one thing to lead the PD in a way where Ts are put in Ss shoes, but quite another to treat the Ts in attendance as if they're children. #fearlessedchat
A3: PD Pet peeve #1-being talked at instead of invited to participate in an experience #2-hearing Ts speak about their Ss with a deficit viewpoint #fearlessedchat
A3: My least favorite PDs have a "change everything you're doing and do this instead" message that's not practical and can be discouraging. #fearlessedchat
A2: must be relevant. EdCamps allow for authentic conversatikn as welk the oooortunity to get uo and go, with no disrespect, to make the most ofnyour time! #fearlessEdChat
A3: When the instructor or facilitator doesn't read the room to see that people are bored. We are educators! If engagement isn't there, adjust. #FearlessEdChat
A3. If it is a repetitive PD on information that you've previously had, and you are not gaining any new knowledge or information from it. #fearlessedchat
#fearlessedchat A3: When PD demonstrates the absolute worst teaching practices out there. Or at least doesn't even try to demonstrate best teaching practices. Also, when presenter makes assumptions that are not well founded.
A3- When presenters just “talk” about their topic w/o actually teaching you “how” to implement it and when we just sit there instead of actively engaging in the PD. #fearlessedchat
A4: Dream PD would be all about integrating tech tools into more "traditional" science curriculum. Not necessarily STEM where the focus tends to drift to engineering, but simply how to work technology into the content. Hope that makes sense! #fearlessedchat
A3. Biggest pet peeve... Any PD that doesn't engage so that I'm more focused on my behind that has lost circulation, than on whatever is being presenting. Get us up and moving!! #fearlessedchat
A4: Something where teachers sit around and brainstorm and share ideas together. It is an open dialogue throughout. Glad to say I have been multiple PDs like this throughout the year, Twitter Chats #edcampNSV and VASCL #fearlessedchat
A4: My dream PD scenario if a combination of an @EdcampUSA and a tech conference. An @EdcampUSA in the morning and breakout sessions of tech to support and integrate in the afternoon! All driven by voice and choice!
#fearlessedchat
A4: My dream PD scenario is one where a topic is discussed that pertains to what teachers are interested in. @RaeHughart always does an amazing job and tries to form a connection with the teachers. I always love her sessions. I think hers has been a dream PD. #fearlessedchat
Stephen from KY jumping in REAL late. Great that this chat is on PD. I am attending our State Music Conference tomorrow. I am praying for some relevant PD. I'll let you know how that works out. #fearlessEdChat
A4:
I have PD dreams a lot. A retreat scenario, relaxing place, a conference filled with energy, participatory activities that are relevant and FUN! Not treated like children, but maybe put in Ss' shoes. With healthy snacks and plenty of restrooms for all genders! #Fearlessedchat
A4 I think EdCamps are about as close to ideal for me as possible because I can get out of it what I put into it. I like to have some control of my path #fearlessedchat
A4: Dream PD. Spend a day with all the people from my PLN. Have lunch, have dinner, stay up way to late sharing stories, laughs, tears. Encourage one another. #fearlessedchat
A4-Sitting down w/ my curriculum to get feedback on whatever we’re learning about w/ a presenter who knows how to work w/ my kids/school environment. #fearlessedchat
Hey #fearlessedchat crew! Always great to be on here for @rlmiller137 's questions! Tomorrow at 9pm ET, I will be moderating #waledchat and we will be reflecting on tech and education. I hope you will consider joining me!

A4: I enjoy book study PDs - ongoing, focused, collaborative, thought provoking and even better if it presents ideas that are actionable by the team of readers #fearlessEdChat
A4. I would love Passion Project time build into the work day (Maybe just 20 min!) where I can explore my virtual #PLN and just be inspired to grow and improve. #fearlessedchat
A1: I just attended the @TCRWP Phonics Institute at Columbia University. It was awesome learning from such brilliant literacy educators. #fearlessedchat
A4: Dream PD would be learning new strategies and lessons I could implement in my class to support student learning AND follow up coaching in my class with an outstanding coach WITH a professional PLN to support each other as we grow. #fearlessedchat
