This twitter chat stands for "Wins And Losses Ed Chat" and will be a chat where students reflect on the previous week to celebrate victories and reflect on losses to turn them into victories.
Hello #waledchat, Steph Dill elementary SPED T in Colorado. Today was our last day with students for the year - busy happy day with continuations and school wide picnic.
Roman from Ontario, Canada. HS Teacher/Student Success Leader/Agent of Transformation. Hope my Canadian brother @mrbgilson will join the convo tonight. Saying hello to #waledchat with my bitmoji!!
Patrick, an ITRT from northern VA. Helping others utilize tech to change education and student success, ultimately lifelong learning. #dreambig#believebigger#waledchat
Hi, everyone! Sara from Cincinnati here! School Counselor... tomorrow's the last day of the year! Hard to believe! Glad to join you tonight! #waledchat
What up, Fam! Michael A. from #122edchat in Chicago. Happy to be here at your service as #waledchat meets #122edchat tonight! Excited to be chatting with you. Viewer note, both of our @Bitmoji images are out of date. @megan_hacholski + I now rock the same hairstyle w/o a beard.
Thanks, yes, Paisly has been found and brought back in. Silly cat, I can't keep her in when the dog door is up. Need a dog door with a detetor for the dog only! #waledchat
A1: Biggest win of the year has to be joining @MrPStrunk, @ERobbPrincipal and the crew in Clarke Co, VA. My most recent win was getting an invite from my old students to see their graduation. I'm not gonna say I ugly cried, but I did. #waledchat#onions
A1 I have implemented new #edtech tools this year that have made me a better T. I am not an innate techie, but I have worked to teach myself new things this year. #waledchat
A1: My biggest win - on July 1st, I officially become Assistant Principal for Student Affairs! EEK! I'm excited & proud of myself for goin' for it! I know I have a lot to learn, but I'm up for the challenge! #waledchat
A1 My biggest win of 2018 has to be my ongoing virtual collaboration with @bmilla84βs grade 1 class at @CaldwellElemen Being able to
learn with these kids, spread kindness & surprise them was unbelievable. A great way to finish the year by Skyping with them today. #waledchat
A1: I had a Ss that I did not connect with at all when she was a freshman. I had her again this year as a senior and she wrote about me in her senior memory book as her favorite teacher and how much she grew to enjoy/hate my dad jokes. #waledchat
A1 I think my biggest win this year was the Global Collaborations we did this year. Lots of fun and good learning and experiences for us all ππ #waledchat
Whatβs up #waledchat?!?! Iβm hoping that @spqrmiguel will stop by! Kelly from Virginia Beach! Checking in from the couch! It was a βno schoolwork coming home with me kinda afternoonβ
A1: My biggest win has been letting go. I've given up elements of control and presented at conferences with amazing colleagues and lead the organization of the Clarke Innovation Conference.
#waledchat#clarkeinnovates
A1: So many wins this year. Successful Drama season. Amazing play. Our best musical. Saw a lot of kids grow up, mature to overcome fears and struggles. Also, our @SmartLab_tweets Lab won a National Spotlight Award in our first year. #waledchat meets #122edchat
A1: Starting the year in one teaching roll and transitioning into a different midway through. Seeing growth in both groups of student and making so many connections with Ss and Ts. 5-star year. #waledchat
A1: Formed a really strong bond with one of my little guys. I feel like we both needed each other this year and he has come SO far. β€οΈStill a few more weeks to help him grow. #waledchat
A1: Simply trying new things and using that little nagging fear as fuel. My students have written more and read more and I hope thought about both more than they have before. #waledchat
A1: Hmm it's hard to narrow down... I would say getting immersed in the Twitter world and builidng my PLN, which has benefited my teaching so much. #waledchat
A1: biggest win was helping some Ss who didnβt think of themselves as learners make massive gains and begin to understand what theyβre capable of #waledchat
A1: Biggest Ss win 1-finally finding a way to help a child really understand and use skils to begin reading & writing in 3rd grade. 2-going to HS graduation of a Ss I worked w/ for 5 yrs in elem. Personnal win - meeting so many fantastic educators here! #waledchat
A1: I had a student tell me she hadnβt done math in a year and she didnβt βdo negativesβ. She was adamant that they didnβt make sense. Recently, I pointed out to her that not only was she βdoing negativesβ, but she was explaining them to friends! #waledchat#WhyITeach#MTBoS
So many wins! Love seeing all of these roll across the board like waves in the ocean! Never forget, good people...YOU ARE HAVING AN IMPACT. YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! #waledchat meets #122edchat
A1 Just coming back to the classroom was a win! I didn't think I was ready to come back taking care of my fam for 9 yrs. But I went to several conferences & asked for LOTS of help from colleagues & my Twitter PLN. I'm so glad I came back this yr!! #waledchat
A1: biggest win would be a change in my mindset and openness to figuring out what is best for Ss. I was kind of stuck in my ways before, but now I am more willing to make larger changes to my teaching practices. #waledchat
Joining Twitter for #PLN with amazing educators and scholars across the globe! So much to learn and so many fantastic professional development opportunities! π #waledchat
A1 - biggest win is one of my Ss pitched her #chocolatebarchallenge to a local chocolate co. CEO and he told her he would invest in her bar. We were all blown away #waledchat
My biggest win is living up to my #oneword2018 which is reach. I even jumped into Project Kakuma and hope to teach some lessons over Skype this summer. Feel like I still have a some more reach in me. #waledchat
A1: Biggest win was the @Simmonsknights1 Smart Lab. Iβm know Iβm repeating myself, but so pleased with how everything came together thanks to great educators. #waledchat
A1: I finished student teaching, graduated with my bachelor's (finally, after 12 years), and signed a contract to work for an awesome school! Oh, and I turned 30. 2018 has been pretty awesome! #waledchat
A2: Everyone looks for validation in their work. If you take teaching serious, you want to feel like you change lives and bring the knowledge. Having a young person say thank you, or a new principal asking you to join their team validates all the work we do. #waledchat
A1 My biggest win this year was hosting the #flipgridbustour and @newsela CEO @matthew_gross on the same day. My students got to meet and speak to two of our 3 favorite platforms. It was an exciting day. #waledchat
#waledchat A1 For the 5th year in a row I have been blessed to award the @GRHSABC Always Believe scholarship. This year two Ss were awarded the $4000 plus scholarships. I even got into the local paper! #ItsAllAboutTheKids
A1. It was my first year as admin. My overall biggest win was finishing the year & being considered successful. Still lots to learn, but feel like we made huge strides @Beulah_ES this year toward standard based teaching/grading & building relationships w/ Ss & Ps
#waledchat
#waledchat A1-Biggest win - finally getting up the guts to change my practice and start blogging about math teaching and other things I am passionate about in education on my website and @eschoolnews column.
A2: I learned to choose courage over comfort. I learned to be brave, trust my gut, & go for it! I will let courage guide the way next year, too. We can't grow if we don't try!
#waledchat
A2 I have truly learned the power and limitless possibilities that global collaborations can have by building authentic learning relationships. I will include such collaborations for each student of mine next year to keep empowering global learning. Watch out world! #waledchat
A2: Don't be afraid to go back and continue to reteach a strategy. Sketchnoting took a lot of reteaching, but I am much happier with them now than I was when we first started! Lots of growth! #waledchat@MHSLewisHistory@MrsAsztalos@ERobbPrincipal
A2 This year showed me how powerful technology can be when used smartly. Next year I want to go all in and create a blended learning experience for Ss. #waledchat
A2: I learned that I am capable of doing more than I sometimes believe that I can. It's pushing me to be confident in my abilities and the impact that I can have on those around me. #waledchat
A1: Helping Ss discover a new way to look at literacy they may not have known before. Whether it was through discussion, anchor charts, learning how to apply new found knowledge or falling in love with books. When my Ss are smiling- thatβs a win! #waledchat#LoveLiteracyLearning
A1: Adjusting to and having success at a new school. It was quite a transition. I felt like I abandoned the Ss I left, but realized my heart was needed elsewhere. #waledchat
A1: Made it through my first year in a new school, in a new state, in a new grade level! It was a big change and I grew a lot, especially mentally. #waledchat
A2: From podcasting I have learned the importance of being connected, stepping out of your comfort zone, and the importance of continually working to make yourself a better educator. #waledchat#ShareMOEdu
A2: I've furthered solidified my why wins the wins and truly know what makes me happiest. I will continue to let go and help others as much as possible!
#waledchat
A2: Hard work pays off. The investment of time, the sacrifices of personal pursuits ended with victory. As I look back, I have no regrets. We finished empty. #waledchat meets #122edchat
A2. I have learned that every educator has the power to change the life of child and we just need to unleash it. We have so much power as educators. #waledchat
A1 My favorite year in education, connecting with so many great educators on Twitter, my District embracing Twitter, spending more times in buildings covering classes and working with kids, PD day that feature @daverendall Admins working with @ToddWhitaker#waledchat
A2: There are so many different moves that teachers can make to foster great discussions! PLUSβ¦observing my colleaguesβ teaching is PRICELESS. #waledchat
A2: There are so many amazing educators out there doing things I never imagined. There are infinite ways I'm about to grow and change my practice from this hive mind. #waledchat
A2: progress looks different for everyone - mastering negatives was HUGE for this student (and took most of the semester), but others didnβt even need me for that. We have to meet each student where they are when we get them and strive for individual growth #waledchat
A1: Biggest win for myself was spreading positivity & thoughts via #HeardItFromHankins and showing my kids to do the sameβfinding the positive in everythingβfrom what they got RIGHT on a test they failed to choosing more positive words when they speak. #waledchat#122edchat
A2: I learned to be comfortable in a constant state of change. Change lead to learning and applying so many different skills and expanding my profession repertoire. #waledchat
#waledchat A1 pt 2 We just got back our state assessment scores here in TX. I teach 104 9th Grade Algebra Ss. Our advanced Ss are tracked into 8th grade Algebra. I had 94 of my 9th graders score commended! 100 Passed and 90% were commended. My 9th graders outdid the local JH's.
Every educator. Every staff member. Every parent. Every person has the power to make a difference...even the youngest ones in our buildings. #waledchat meets #122edchat
A2. I have learned that every educator has the power to change the life of child and we just need to unleash it. We have so much power as educators. #waledchat
A2 Now I can start to really tweak what I did this year. Add more authentic tech integration, more interaction with families. I had a tough year medically so there are so many things I want to try and so many ways I can keep improving #waledchat
A2: I learned that not everything will be perfect and some things will just flat out not work. Not going to hold me back from making changes in the interest of Ss #waledchat
A2: I learned that Ss are creative and engaged when you find ways to provide choice and find ways to get them to use their strengths and passion. Iβm already excited for next year as I just finished the school year today. Planning for next year begins tomorrow #waledchat
A2: new approaches are based on assessments of Ss, so I donβt know what or how weβll do next year, but I know weβll try our best together! #waledchat
#waledchat A2-I can connect with more people than just those in my building. I expanded my network outside of my school and realizes that I can change my practice, have support, and try new things. Just because ppl in my school don't do them doesn't mean I can't try them.
A2 that not all my lessons worked, but I tried and was able to model failure and trying again with my students. That going against the norm can be a positive for your students! #waledchat
A1. Biggest win for me this school year was switching to 7th Grade and getting a chance to go outside of my comfort-zones.
A2: I adored having a PLN (Twitter) and a great content partner to work/grow with (@lynzhite)
#waledchat
A2 - It is very easy to focus on those kids who are high achievers and students who are always engaged. Itβs those other students who you connect with that helps to also shape the overall school experience for kids. Every kid counts!!! #waledchat
A3: Biggest loss of the year? All the missed chances. Every time we step into the classroom, we have a chance to make a difference and change lives. And many times, we don't...yet. Teaching is about staying true to the process and generating chances for change. #waledchat
A2- Be open minded and learn from Ts, Admins, and most of all Ss in my District. I have found when you listen and encourage, and support others great things happen. I am very lucky to work with great Educators ,like @AmarisScalia@whesmesposito@Ruby_SneakersRT#waledchat
A2: My pacing was way off this year; I hate that I didn't get to some of my fav lessons from last year. Already thinking about how to restructure next year. #waledchat
A2: Having the right tools & understandings to keep on teaching my Ss due to training in @IMSEOG hs been huge. Having my #PLN to learn from and ask quesitons, I can only continue to get better. #TeachBetter#waledchat
#waledchat A1 pt 3 My book "The Story of Always Believe" is going through the publisher! It will be out this fall! SO EXCITING! This fall I might start public speaking on my book. It has been a great year!
A2: I learned to trust my intuition as realize the larger picture of my education plan. A former administrator told me on a chance meeting, βWe were really, really sad you left but realized you had done all you could do with us.β Made the decision easier. #waledchat
What an honor and huge surprise from all of @MapleWarriors yesterday! Feeling very blessed to be recognized as the District Support Employee of the Year. Itβs a great day to be a Warrior! #ssdpride#warriorscreate
A3: I had a few write-ups that I think could have been avoided if I had worked harder to establish a more positive relationship earlier in the year. #waledchat
A3: Regret came in the form of lost patience this year...with myself & with those around me. In stressful times, I let disappointment get in the way of progress.
#waledchat
A3: I need to grow in working with students to submit work. Had a big project that we spent a month working on, but when the due date came only about 20% turned it in on time. :( #waledchat
A3: I regret not sharing more LCLs (life-changing lessons per #tlap) with my students - I often got caught up in the day-to-day work and forgot to spend quality time with the people in my classroom. #waledchat
A3 A loss/regret experienced was putting some learning projects on the side burner in order to focus on building things currently in place. Balance & prioritizing have been challenges this year. Thinking about what is best for students has always been on the forefront. #waledchat
A2: I learned a lot about new reading techniques from working with my mentor teacher during my on the job internship. It helped this year's class a lot and I look forward to trying similar strategies next year! #waledchat
A3: Learning to adjust to the Junior High students from Elementary I started with my expectations too high. They were not ready for what I wanted them to do and it did not create the best of environments. We course corrected but that was a regret. #waledchat
A2: It helped that I already knew something about each of these Ss. I want to start off the year with conversations about what I βthinkβ I know & talk about what I NEED to know so I can do the best for them. By knowing them, it helps me find resources theyβll enjoy. #waledchat
A2 I learned that Ss will always rise to the occasion when given voice and choice in products and processes, and Ss can solve real world probs... Ts too! #waledchat
A3 I feel like some of my more vocal Ss hijacked my classes at times this year , and I didn't give enough attention to those who needed it. "Squeaky wheel gets the grease!" #waledchat
A3: Many outside of school distractions from unlikely sources that really worked to sap my energy. Had to cut ties with people that I thought were better than what they were in reality. #waledchat meets #122edchat
A3: I gamified (thatβs a win) and tried paper mission punch cards and a digital format. Paper wound up being so much more concrete for the kids and much more motivating. I wish Iβd just stayed with that all year. So much time...not quite lost, but... #waledchat
A2: Iβve developed a confidence that I didnβt think Iβd ever have. Chatting with people who think like I do makes me carry out ideas that normally stay in my head. I read everyone elseβs ideas, how in love they are with kids and teaching that I donβt feel alone! #waledchat
A3: A loss I experienced was letting some of my focus areas slip through the cracks. It's easy to let things get pushed to the side for "important" tasks that come up daily. #waledchat
A2
- Continue to learn the value of relationships! The most difficult Ss sometimes just need to be reminded every day we care.
- difficult conversations are worth it
- invest in Teachers as much as you can
#Waledchat
A3: Learning to be comfortable is change meant working past getting caught up in the βsmall stuffβ. Had to keep the larger picture in mind. #waledchat
A3: I need to get better at quicker grading/feedback return for students and more 1:1 reading conferences. Time always escapes me; I need to take control of that more next year. #waledchat
Yes, I had that this year in my class too! Was hoping to get to the end of the Cold War, but snow days and some funky events are making that look less likely :( #waledchat
A3 - biggest loss is really time. It really works against me when Iβm trying to go deep with one or two subjects instead of shallow on several subjects. Am working towards managing time more efficiently and asking for forgiveness instead of permission #waledchat
A3 I injured my back and had to have surgery. I ended up missing close to 40 days of school. My class community fell apart and it is really hard to bring it back. We still have 4 weeks, so I am not giving up. #waledchat
A3 A regret was a difficult student, I wish I had tried different ways of getting him engaged sooner in the year, but better late then never #waledchat
A3: I have over 75 students. I can tell you most of their friends, their interests, and my inside jokes with each of them. I can do that with most, not all, and it kills me that I didnβt connect with each of them like they deserve #waledchat
A2b I learned that people want to hear my ideas and that we all can grow through sharing our ideas and reflecting. I never thought about the opportunities to connect with people in other countries! #waledchat
A3: my regret- I didnβt start thinking about engagement until a month into the school year. I focused on tech WAY too much. I picked up #tlap and began thinking more about engagement. #waledchat
A3 - I used PBL frequently in class and it took me longer than I expected to really get kids to see the benefits. Looking back, I wish I would have prepared them better for the rigorvthst was involved. #waledchat
A2: My pacing was way off this year; I hate that I didn't get to some of my fav lessons from last year. Already thinking about how to restructure next year. #waledchat
A3: This year we changed things up a bit which resulted in a loss of time somehow. Taking an extra day here and there to do things resulted in getting behind where I wanted us to be. #waledchat
A3: Iβm a principal - but tried to teach as much as possible first semester - esp leadership lessons. I regret letting those fall by the wayside second semester #waledchat
A3- Bombed in a reading lesson that I covered for a great T in my District and lost my cool in a meeting and was harsh with a great admin I work with ... wish I had prepared more for the lesson, and wish I had been less abrasive in the meeting. #waledchat
A3: Iβve been less creative with the new curriculum Iβm learning and having started teaching Aug. 14 and not finishing until June 14, my Drive is getting more difficult to find. Want to finish strong for my Ss though. #waledchat
A3 Biggest loss of 2018 was losing our lead IT person to another district. He helped so many projects get off the ground over the past few years. Calling that one a loss but he did leave his mark in a good way for our Ss. #waledchat
A4: Next year I have lots of cool stuff cookin' up in the #makered classroom: new projects, better content & resources, clearer directions & stronger classroom culture. I'm just crush it a little bit everyday and let the work speak for itself. #waledchat
A3: We had a new Ss from another state that really struggled the fist 3 months. We were finally getting somewhere and over winter break he moved back to the other state. I stil think about him and hope he is doing well. #waledchat
A3
No matter how much time I get into classrooms, I always wish I could get into them more.
I enjoy getting to work with the Ss on their academics rather than all interactions being behavior responses. I want to be an academic help to Teachers as well.
#Waledchat
A3: Every year I strive to give more time to conferencing with students about writing. I did not have a system this year that I was happy with. #waledchat
A1 Greatest success of 2018 was staying busy! In my new role in Tech Integration, I was STOKED to be able to stay busy with teachers and students all year long. "Business" has not slowed down at all. #waledchat#122edchat
A3: I started the year off strong doing station teaching. And I nailed it. I could tell you on a daily basis what each ss knew and didnβt know. Then it got busy and I didnβt do them as much, or I did them differently. Wish I would have continued with what worked! #waledchat
A4: I want to spend some more time early in the year emphasizing the benefits of turning work in on time, and how that can help us move on together instead of always playing from behind! #waledchat
A4: As I switch into my new role as an ITC, my losses and wins reinforce the idea that relationships matter and that you can never stop trying to connect. #waledchat
A4 A new reflection/focus for next year is currently setting up an amazing start to next year. By continuing to build relationships and transform current objectives, I cannot wait for the positives that will come out next year. An amazing year ahead! #waledchat
A4: Mindfulness, the intentional practice of gratitude, & self-compassion. These things are the antidote to stress, disappointment, & self-doubt. #waledchat
A3: I hate losing great people and I really have a hard time letting go of 8th graders (especially this year), but moving on is a part of life must accept. #waledchat#122edchat
#waledchat A3-I guess I regret questioning my love for teaching at times this year and wishing I was doing something else when I really just needed to get out of my funk and teach the way I knew how to be successful.
A3 I injured my back and had to have surgery. I ended up missing close to 40 days of school. My class community fell apart and it is really hard to bring it back. We still have 4 weeks, so I am not giving up. #waledchat
A3: Allowing negativity to impact me. I try very hard to maintain a positive outlook and feel deflated when I let others affect me in such a negative way. I want to do better at letting it go and focusing on my why: student success! #waledchat#LoveLiteracyLearning
A3: I bashed my head against the wall teaching geography for months until finally started doing #mysteryskype and they learned more in two weeks than they had the whole year. π€¦ββοΈ what a waste. Better late than never! #waledchat
A4 - Show examples of outstanding work. Allow smaller projects to give students a greater level of success to start the year. Focus not on grades, but rather on the passion that students show. #waledchat
A4: I would like my team to look at this year's calendars and pinpoint where we got off track. We should go ahead and try to create a new calendar for next year. I know there still will be changes mid-stream, but it will help us see the overall picture better. #waledchat
A4: I can't bring the kiddo back, wish I could. But we learned more about establishing relationships early and really work to support kiddos where they are at. WE will be more prepaired when the time comes again. #waledchat
A4: I will extend help more often next year and present some examples instead of just saying what I could do. Essentially, I will model more and talk less.
#waledchat
A4: Being more assertive and stand up for myself. Being OK with saying "NO" to things and people. Above all else, I need to guard my heart. #waledchat meets #122edchat
A4 I need to be more diligent in advocating for my students to receive counseling or external mental help. It may not have made a difference this year, but it is what I could have done. #waledchat
A4: Going back to mission punch cards, definitely! Gamification is one of the best things Iβve ever done, and those cards created serious motivation to hit mastery and get that punch! #waledchat
Trying to write my last #curiositycrew post for the week and do two chats that are giving me more fuel to write is a recipe for greatness or disaster...#G2Great#waledchat
A4: Turn words into action...no excuses. I need to keep reflecting each week about how I spend my time and balance what can wait vs what needs to be completed now. #waledchat
A4: Start earlier in building relationships. Work harder to find some little connection with every single student, and when it isnβt happening, make it a priority to get to know those students that Iβm leaving out #waledchat
A4: Spent the summer diving into the curriculum and putting my creative side to work. Having more understanding of my content will make loads of difference for my Ss. #waledchat
A4- I really need to take the time to be consistent with my AM routine 5 minute journal , @dailystoic reading, and @Headspace before I Ssart my day will help me keep things in perspective. #waledchat
A2 People WANT to learn more about #edtech! Even tech-reluctant educators are willing to listen IF you are patient and understanding. Talking down to people will only lose respect. #waledchat#122edchat
A4: next year I am going to give more frequent smaller writing assignments so that I can get through more kids during class. Giving myself permission to focus on quality of writing over length of writing assignments. #waledchat
Thank you, Cristina. You are an inspiration to all of us. I have enjoyed getting to partner with you these past several weeks. #waledchat meets #122edchat
#waledchat must be trending, I'm starting to see some weird, totally unrelated tweets. Loving the conversation tonight as #waledchat meets #122edchat! Great and honest reflections!
A4: I have all these ideas, individualized plans where possible, workshops and feedback. Building on the foundations they have and "renovating" where things are looking a bit less established. #waledchat
A4 Donβt get injured, lol. I used the time I was out to take a ton of PD - I almost finished with my Level 1 Google cert, 2/3 of the way through TLAP and a Seesaw Ambassador. I will use what I have learned to enhance my teaching #waledchat
A1. I would say #mysterySkype all 50 states - only 3 more / canββt wait - going to be epicππ Also Skyped with London and @Flipgrid with friends from@Australia #waledchat
A2: I learned that I work with some pretty awesome people. That I have the support & ability to grow the current program, & I can rule the world! Bwahahahaha! π sorry, couldnβt resist #waledchat
A2: I have learned thatβwhen you are positiveβnot everyone is going to follow your lead. If they donβt, you just keep doing your thing. Iβve taught kids to do the same. We canβt change some things, but we can change how we react to those things. #waledchat#122edchat
A2 Now that I've got this 1st yr back under my belt & I know the content & duties that come w/ teaching better I can focus more on classroom management & integrating other subjects and collaborating w/ colleagues & other classes through my #PLN and other groups #waledchat
A2 Now that I've got this 1st yr back under my belt I know the content & teaching duties so nxt yr I can focus more on classroom management & integrating other subjects and collaborating w/ colleagues & other classes through my #PLN and other groups #waledchat#122edchat
A4: It is multi-faceted. I am looking for ways to support them into next year. Also need to make sure that I donβt lose sight of the big picture #waledchat
Reflection so important. I recently wrote a blog entry about that very topic. If we donβt reflect- how will anything ever change? #waledchathttps://t.co/fX4PEF6Qgr
A3: I didn't give my kids nearly enough opportunities to use tech/create with tech. I've always loved to use tech myself to communicate, engage, & especially to let kids show what they've learned. I feel I really underacheived in that area this year. #waledchat
A4: For one, Iβll be starting the year w/c will give me more opportunities to get to know them. Use the testing data to target their academics, but also have set routines & expectations at the beginnig of the year that supports SEL. #waledchat
A4: I might try to combine more content into the individualized assessments- balance assessment project effort w content- unit, instead of topic #waledchat
In all of the answers the key is actually making change. So often I see teachers who donβt reflect on their practice. They come back each year and do exactly the same thing and get the same results. We must always strive to be a little bit better. #waledchat
A2: I learned to "create" opportunities through #PLN . Networking with fellow educators who are passionate and dedicated for #studentsuccess had encouraged me to expand my educational and professional opportunities to go beyond my classroom. #waledchat π
A4: well for one Iβll know the kids all have Gmail accounts and can integrate tech immediately instead of finding out a third of the way into the year! π #waledchat
A5: I have had a lot of fun this year, but I'm ready for some time to rest. I've stretched and pushed myself in lots of new ways, and I just need some time to breathe. Also... Probably because I have Disney with @LBStrunk coming up soon!! Woot woot! #waledchat
A5 I definitely have to post my new favourite GIF for tonight! So excited for the end to this year, not because I am happy that it is done but because of the learning that has happened and the amazing projects that are in the works for the coming year. Be prepared! #waledchat
Q5: Feelings. Happy, sappy, wonderful feelings. The end of the year sparks a spectrum of emotions. Share yours with a @Bitmoji or a GIF. #waledchat meets #122edchat
THIS! This makes me so happy Scott. When we talked at @Flipgrid, you had concerns heading into this new adventure. So happy that you are bringing your expertise and opening new doors for teachers and students alike. #waledchat meets #122edchat
A4
Iβm looking to rearrange some scheduling that would me have better availability to get into classrooms and meet with grade-level/departments during the day.
Iβm registering for some training this summer on materials our teachers use so I can be a resource/help
#Waledchat
Yes! Sometimes I go to email a counselor and think βdo I need to bother them with this? What if the kid is fine?β I have seen that the times I hesitate most end up being the kids that truly need it. Never hesitate to ask for help for them! #waledchat
#waledchat A4-Moving forward to next year - remember that I make the decisions in my classroom and I shouldn't feel pressured to teach in a way that I don't feel is best for my students. Luckily I have a lot of support with #blendedlearning and I feel free to innovate now.
A5: As the end of the school year comes, I dream even more of what could be possible next year! What greatness could Ss and Ts achieve?

A5: EOY is always bittersweet. I get more family time to be a husband and a dad, but I am leaving the "Family" here at school. I know that many of our Ss do not get to go home to what I get to experience during the summer. Wish they could go w/me. #waledchat meets #122edchat.
Awesome chat, everyone, but I need to go pick up my son from baseball practice. Have a great week everyone! Get a chance to relax for those who are done for the yr! #waledchat
A4 Hit the ground running with tech next year. With families. With kids. Set the tone that that's how we do it here and be sure to explain to families the "why" so they buy in! AND make the most of what time I have left this year! Not a total loss yet! #waledchat
Many thanks to my lovely co-host, @megan_hacholski. It was an honor + a privilege to go on one last mod mission with you. Job well done. Also, to my pal, @MrPStrunk. Thanks for letting us bring the party to your lawn tonite. Blessed to call you friend. #waledchat meets #122edchat
So essential. Cannot begin to tell you the impact that social network has had on what I am able to accomplish on a daily basis. Grateful! #waledchat meets #122edchat
A3 I was not able to complete a few things this year with a couple of classes! I hate that feeling and I know it frustrates kids. I was pulled out of their classes and into another place in the building. π’#waledchat
Thank you to @megan_hacholski and @_on11 for hosting an absolutely fantastic #waledchat! And thank you to all the awesome participants! Hope to see you next week!
