A1: A great life to me is when I'm happy in the place I am. Enjoy the things I have at the moment and not worry about what I don't have. Not to compare. Set goals and go get them. Spend time with the people you love. #bekind#LeadLAP
Good morning #leadlap! John from DC. High school instructional coach and eleventh grade English teacher at @OConnellHS. Big joy of the week was introducing our entire faculty to the PLC model outlined by @authenticplcs. What a great day!
A1 very subjective question but to me it’s taking care of spiritual life first. Then making sure that I am putting others first. I do my best to be a servant leader. #LeadLAP
A1 A great life to me is when I LOVE going to work to see all the successes my students are having. Loving my job is so important. If I love my job, students will love learning from me!! #leadlap
A1: A great life looks like using your talents and passions to inspire and fulfill others! You have resilience to pick up where you left off. A great life means having a great team that is interdependent - at work and home. #LeadLAP
Good morning #LeadLAP! I’m joining in from Rome, GA. As an elementary principal, one of my joys is spending some one on one time with students which I was able to do this past week. Relationships matter!
A1: A great life looks like the chance to mine blessings in your burdens so that you come out stronger and ready to help others come through their productive struggle stronger. It looks like loving and being loved, like sharing, connecting, growing, serving & restoring. #leadlap

#LeadLap
A1:) Heavy right out of the gate... In simple terms I always tell my students (and even my daughters) my goals for them are to be happy and self-sufficient. My happiness comes from making an impact on future generations with the brief time I have here. Hence education. #LeadLAP
A1:
LIFE IS GOOD
✨✨✨✨✨
When you are able to find beauty and joy in the journey, life is good. When you pursue passion and find success, life is good. When you feel love and find laughter, life is good. When you “Grow the Good”, life is good. #LeadLAP
Courtney from @Hopetechschool. English and social studies HS teacher. Joy of the week was getting our high school approved by WASC! (We are a new program under an older school) #leadLAP
A1 A life filled with purpose is a great life. For me it’s living a Christ centered life with family and serving others and praising him. What we do in life should lead to that purpose. As curly says in city slickers 1 thing #leadLAP
A1: A great life is one where you are purposed, see miracles in moments, intentionally focus on what you are grateful for and strive to be the best you in all spaces! Love this question @mrmatera! #LeadLAP
Good Morning, #LEADLAP crew, Jeff MS principal from VA. Best part of the week..Ss thanked me for personally mailing her a Pawisitive referral that had a note from her teacher and myself.#LeadLAP
A1: Seriously, I have a pretty good life right now. I get to do what I love to do. But, a great life would mean that I could help every child and family that needs it and give teachers all they need to make a difference every single day #LeadLAP
A1: I think a great life is what you make it...If I am a good wife and mom, a good person, and manage to make a difference to a few people somewhere along the way, that sounds like a pretty amazing life to me. #LeadLAP
Good morning, #LeadLAP One of my sweetest memories was hosting our 1st Curriculum Night in our classroom on Thursday night. There were 55 people squeezed in to celebrate our learning and our kids.

When you are able to find beauty and joy in the journey, life is good. When you pursue passion and find success, life is good. When you feel love and find laughter, life is good. When you “Grow the Good”, life is good. #LeadLAP
A1: Living a life that allows you to fulfill your purpose daily and allows you to spread your passions and talents. That is a great life. Doing what you love, with all you have, and giving to others. #LeadLAP
Looks may be deceiving. A great life is dependent on your goals & aspirations! It’s more about what it truly is rather than how it appears. You may be living your best life, but to others it may appear as inadequate. Live for you & know that you ultimately determine it! #Leadlap
A1: A great life is about gratitude. Thinking about all the things I am thankful for reminds me of the great life I have. I am grateful for:
My job, my house, friends and family, nature, students and more. #leadlap
A1: A great life is a balanced life socially, mentally and physically. It’s also a job that you love to go to and your good at. Always working to stay balanced. #LEADlap
A1: I think a great life means being present. Yes, reflecting on the past and envisioning the future, but living in the present, with the people that matter the most to you. Celebrating it. Enjoying it. Finding the good in it. #LeadLAP
Hard to narrow to one, but a joy I experienced this week was when my daughter told me she was excited to share my laughter at school with others. (Meaning bring her own) ☀️#LeadLAP
#LeadLAP A1 Family. Career. Living for joy. Appreciation and being grateful. Living in the moment. Knowing that Time is precious and heals many thing. Trying my best in all things.
A1: A great life = intentional, purposeful living with a community that loves, supports, challenges, and encourages. Enjoying the simplicity and complexity of different seasons. Savoring the moments. #leadlap
Good morning #leadLAP. I’m Debra Theesfield, Principal at Richard Milburn Academy in Midland, Texas. My biggest joy this week was watching my counselor @TrishMauro work with struggling students. Her heart in action is a privilege to behold! #E3mustangs
A1) A great life looks like celebrating growth and victories with others whether they are ones on our those around you. As well as the willingness to take risks almost guarantees some great experiences! #LeadLAP
A1: I think a great life means being present. Yes, reflecting on the past and envisioning the future, but living in the present, with the people that matter the most to you. Celebrating it. Enjoying it. Finding the good in it. #LeadLAP
A1: A great life is about happiness. Happy with your spouse/partner, knowing you've done your best with your kids, happy with friends, choices you've made and what you've learned. #LeadLap
Great thanks. It's really weird to no longer be in a school family of my own, but I've been making school visits that bring me a whole new kind of JOY and purpose, just a different way to carry the torch. #leadlap
A1 My great life is being surrounded by those I love -
doing what I'm called to do -
helping those I can along the way,
continually looking out for our next mission to do together.

A1 #leadLAP A great life is knowing there will be joy, and tears, and laughter, and disappointment- but doing it all to the fullest every day because you’re SO blessed to be able to experience it all! #E3mustangs
A1: Family, Friends, making memories, passion, purpose, travel, growing &becoming the best version of myself & service to others, I strive to find balance (its hard!) #LeadLAP
A1. What does a great life look like? Balance and perspective. Health. Sharing your own talents to help and support others in their growth, while being able to rely on the strength and support of friends, colleagues, and loved ones to get you through the hard times. #LEADlap
A1: I love helping others and engaging in ministry work. My greatest joy comes when I put the focus more on helping others than on myself. This requires that I work hard on being balanced.
#leadlap
A1) I believe a great life includes doing something you love, something your passionate about, and doing it with people you love and care about. To me, it’s about leaving an impact on the world as you go. Im lucky that I feel like I get to check these boxes regularly. #LeadLAP
Excited to join my first #LEADlap chat! Samara Spielberg, Spanish Department Chair in NYC! Greatest joy this week was cracking up while teaching with my coteacher over a lesson flop in front of the class. It resulted in a contagion of 3rd grade giggles. THE BEST!
A1: A great life isn’t about perfection. It’s about persevering through struggle. Some days are definitely harder than others, but I surround myself with others that help lift me up. #leadLAP
A2: This has been a challenge: I've had to prioritize between work, grad school, running, and professional learning. WIN "What's Important Now?" Some of my at home tasks that rank lower have to wait. #leadlap
A1. What does a great life look like? Balance and perspective. Health. Sharing your own talents to help and support others in their growth, while being able to rely on the strength and support of friends, colleagues, and loved ones to get you through the hard times. #LEADlap
A2 the list of things to do around my house is really long and always out off. I just need to stop adding stuff until I get it done. You always make time for what you want to do. #LeadLAP
A1: A great life is not had in past tense, but lived in the present, garnering true satisfaction in the positive impact you have on those surrounding you every day and continuing to celebrate far into the future, understanding your part of a bigger picture. #LeadLAP
A2. I always wanted to blog and share ideas with others - now I put time on my calendar (evenings and weekends) to make it happen. Has allowed me strengthen connections to others and grow as a learner. #LeadLAP
#LeadLAP A great life is finding joy in the things that happen all day long and forging meaningful relationships with others. Sounds so simple, but yet is elusive for so many people.#positivemindset
A2:) My biggest put off for the past two years have been writing a book and getting back in shape. With the help of @alienearbud and staying accountable to the tribe, the book will come. With the inspiration from #FitLeaders the grind will be fun. #LeadLAP
A2
BELIEVE IN THE NOW
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Believe in the now, and enjoy the moment as it unfolds. It might not be easy, but let your heart fill with optimism. Life happens in mysterious ways, believe in the sunrise… believe it’s possible. #LeadLAP
A2: Personally, getting back to an exercise routine. I exercise but not with the same commitment. I know it will help me physically and mentally. Steps: Just start and make it happen. Mark the calendar and approach like an appointment not a task. #leadlap
A2: I don’t put things off. My challenge is making sure I spend most of my time on the things that matter most and not get caught up in the ‘urgent but unimportant’ #LeadLAP
I find myself putting off things related to my health. I’m always saying “I’ll get that checkup later” Truthfully it should have already been done. I have to take care of me first sometimes in order to be a better me for someone else. This is my push! I needed this nudge #leadlap
A2: I can say, my plate is full. Although there are some thing I want to do someday, I do what I can each day. I also take time to celebrate successes along the way. I give credit where it's due. #Leadlap
A2: I’ve always wanted to write a book and create a blog, and recently I shared this with my Ss and they have been so supportive. Since my contracts ends this school year, instead of going to another school, I’m going to work on these goals. #LeadLap
A2: I would love to pursue a doctorate in school improvement but I continue to put it off. I’m apprehensive about how I would balance this with my current role as a principal. #LeadLAP
A2: Professionally, working on providing feedback before eval this year (LeadLap style) and having Ts observe one another. Currently making it happen! #leadlap
A2 I always put off my blog & personal writing. I even found an article where I explained how I would write to help other teachers.
From 1989. Published in a newspaper.
I've given myself a deadline of my 55th birthday.
Coming way too quickly!
#leadLAP
A2: Say it out loud for others to hear. It helps you be accountable. I did this this year by setting 2 goals I always wanted to do. I’ve now formed my own #nonprofit and I’m 16500 words into writing a book I hope to publish. #LeadLAP#futureauthor
A1: A great life looks like defining success for YOURSELF and living your passion, not what others want for you. Lots of curiosity, growth, and LAUGHTER! Surrounding yourself by positivity and love and spreading it. #LEADlap
A2: One step I've started making is to think of HOW I can do it or make that a reality instead of thinking that I WISH I could do this or that! #LeadLAP
A2: We always want more time, right? I think there is one thing in particular that I want to do, but I know that I always want more TIME. So the change for my life is my #oneword2018: #Balance. It is a daily struggle—some days are wins, some are definitely not! 🤔😳🙃#LeadLAP
A2: “Perfection isn’t the objective. Action is.” via DuFour is a quote I reflect on constantly. I am paralyzed by the idea of perfection. I need to learn to lean on others and trust the process! I preach it but have a hard time doing it myself. #LeadLap
A2: I have always wanted to speak French fluently. I have started learning the language several times and made decent progress (usually during the summer). But, as work get busy, that becomes my focus. I could carve out 20 minutes a day to practice French as a solution. #leadlap
A1: A great life... 1) surrounding yourself with the people you care about... 2) helping people reach their full potential... 3) continually striving for improvement! #LEADlap
A1: A great life is a life lived with purpose and integrity. A great life is also lived with passion! For me, this means being my best self while serving others and never excluding passion for family, friends and leading with my ♥️. #LeadLAP
A2: Definitely traveling again. I LOVED traveling in and out of the States pre-kids. Now that they are older making these plans as a family is a priority and so exciting to anticipate! I want them learning thru experience...not just books and tech. #LeadLAP
A2. I put long races like @SpartanRace@ToughMudder & @runDisney events on my calendar all the time, but I rarely get to put in the necessary training like I’d like to. While simply competing regularly keeps me fit, I’d love to carve out more proper time to do it right. #LEADlap
A2: I tend to put off things that I worry won’t be perfect, like writing the draft of my dissertation proposal or trying something new. But it’s time to break free from the prison of perfectionism and just get things done. #LeadLAP
A2: This is about acting with purpose and intention for me. In the end, you must prioritize. Some important things don't make the cut. Just make sure everything that does is important and avoid regret by having faith in your system and choices. #LeadLAP
A2: I used to be the best power walker, so dedicated and faithful. I've been missing it but haven't made myself get back on the trail.
Step one: Get a new pair of walking shoes for the support I need.
Step two: Just do it!
Step 3: Feel better. #leadlap
This is mine as well! I swore I'd start doing it this summer without publishing and build up the resources so I could space them out over the year but I fell into a summer of extreme and much needed self care and let the ball drop! #leadlap
A2 - I'm putting off starting a blog (self-doubt, lack of clarity on purpose, time, etc.) I would also love to go back to school for a PhD. Maybe when my kids go to college, I could too! #leadlap
A2 Someday is today, realized a few years ago couldn’t help my learners w. multiple disabilities from classroom, if there weren’t enough prepared teachers coming in behind me. Finishing doctorate, landed the dream job, let’s go. #leadlap
A2. I've always wanted to write more and be brave about sharing my passions in education. A step in that direction is to just start small...maybe start blogging regularly and create voice outside my school community? #LeadLAP
As I talk to my Ss and few colleagues about this risk, I’ve been given so many ideas. The conversations with my Ss have been the best. When you can share this with your Ss, the kids just start sharing their stories. It’s really amazing! #leadlap
A2: I’ve always wanted to write a book and create a blog, and recently I shared this with my Ss and they have been so supportive. Since my contracts ends this school year, instead of going to another school, I’m going to work on these goals. #LeadLap
A2:I have put off becoming part of a PLN through Twitter, Facebook, etc. Here I am giving it a shot. Trying to continue my growth mindset by challenging myself with things that are a little scary for me. Pushing my excellence, being an Awesomizer! @casas_jimmy#culturize#leadlap
Q3: If you really want to push yourself, don't answer this with something you had to learn for work. Truly, when was the last time you sat down to learn something new, for the first time. #LeadLap
A2: I’ve always wanted to #write a children’s book due to my love of reading and enjoyment of reading aloud to children. I would love to find a partner to be my #Illustrator#LEADlap
Q3: If you really want to push yourself, don't answer this with something you had to learn for work. Truly, when was the last time you sat down to learn something new, for the first time. #LeadLap
A3: I push to learn something/anything new everyday! 5 min on Twitter can spark so much personal learning! #leadlap Yesterday it was entering student lists in FlipGrid!
Q3: If you really want to push yourself, don't answer this with something you had to learn for work. Truly, when was the last time you sat down to learn something new, for the first time. #LeadLap
A3 If you would have asked me two year ago, this might be different. In my new normal, I am learning all the time. But it is for new work...and I l be it. #LeadLAP
Q3: If you really want to push yourself, don't answer this with something you had to learn for work. Truly, when was the last time you sat down to learn something new, for the first time. #LeadLap
Getting past the fear and self-doubt was the hardest part for me too. Now I just try to always use my authentic voice. I have learned I won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but that’s okay! #LEADLAP
Q3: If you really want to push yourself, don't answer this with something you had to learn for work. Truly, when was the last time you sat down to learn something new, for the first time. #LeadLap
A3; I’m sitting down to learn about my own fragilities right now. It’s been an interesting journey so far! Building capacity and resilience to discover my triggers and better navigate them. Brand new to me. #leadLAP
This used to be mine until I found some classes that fill up my tank! I found a community outside of teaching and it is so nice to have that space. My instructors have taught me so much that I build directly into my classes and my work with my DEPT. group fitness FTW #leadlap
A3: something that I put off for years is quilting. My grandma used to quilt and I have said for 40 years that I am going to learn. I have taught myself and couldn't be happier. very relaxing. My grandma is looking down from heaven smiling. #leadlap
I do not think I’m a writer at all, but my wife has given me the courage to move forward. She is very talented and has offered to help. I have the support, so I figured I had no more excuses. #leadlap
A3. I wanted to extend the learning of those who participate weekly in the #BookCampPD chats. I kept asking myself ..."How can I do this?" Finally decided it would be through a website that incorporated what a chat could not. So I had to learn how to create a website. #LeadLAP
A3: I am learning in my new role EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I feel vulnerable daily. It’s good, but a challenge for me. Learning federal funds, budgeting, organizational structures. Thankful for @LaurieCISD and @abrooksapple for their faith in me! #LeadLap
Q3: If you really want to push yourself, don't answer this with something you had to learn for work. Truly, when was the last time you sat down to learn something new, for the first time. #LeadLap
A3: Happy to say it’s currently happening for me. Piggyback off my A2 I did all my own research to start my nonprofit including navigating IRS forms and state laws. Far from an expert but it was a great journey of learning to believe in myself. #LeadLAP
A3: I love, LOVE learning! In the last couple weeks, I have been practicing @Flipgrid with @smgaillard and @mrG_ccmsReading, and I learned a couple new things on @wakelet this week! Learning new things keeps us fresh, gets our juices flowing, and recharges our batteries! #LeadLAP
Q3: If you really want to push yourself, don't answer this with something you had to learn for work. Truly, when was the last time you sat down to learn something new, for the first time. #LeadLap
A3: As part of living a balanced life, I was #challenged by my good friend @ryanssiemens to get a hobby. So I have been learning all sorts of new things to try to find something that I really enjoy and like to do. Its kinda hard! #LeadLAP#igrewagarden
Q3: If you really want to push yourself, don't answer this with something you had to learn for work. Truly, when was the last time you sat down to learn something new, for the first time. #LeadLap
A2 #leadLAP I have always wanted to learn Spanish so I can communicate fluently with the parents of my students (and my students who need that, as well). I can invest in a program like Rosetta Stone today to start that process! #E3mustangs

Big time. I’m running the 140-mile GAP Trail relay in two weeks. Four person team of 24 hour running from Md. to Pittsburgh. My longest training workout so far? A measly 30 minutes of burpees. Need to do better. #leadlap
In reply to
@fourmonkeypress, @SpartanRace, @ToughMudder, @runDisney
A3: My midlife crisis led me to take up martial arts. It tested my boundaries, forced humility, reminded me about respect and, in the end, increased my self confidence. Competing in my second tournament next weekend. Officially the 'old guy' but I like my chances. #LeadLAP
A3) I have been trying to learn and practice Spanish a little more. I took German in high school and I’ve noticed the kids really light up when I can respond to them in their native language or they see me at least trying. 😬 #leadLAP
Great question, Michael. For me new learning has been taking some painting and drawing classes with my daughter. I’ve always thought I “couldn’t draw”. Classes have pushed me to do more than I ever thought I could. #LeadLAP
A3:) Hmmm...🤔 Brand new from scratch unrelated to work was probably when I sat at my daughters keyboard and learned how to play the hook from Van Halen’s “Dreams” a few months back. Other than that professional learning 24-7 baby! #LeadLAP

A3: I am constantly working to learn how to better my singing. Stage presence is also a skill separate from the singing part. I work to learn more about both. Also pushed myself to learn to draw with the #Sketch50 last year. Great experience! #LeadLAP
A3: actually just yesterday. Sitting through math PD, I learned all types of new strategies to use to solve problems. I only wish it had been presented to me in that way when I was a kid! #LEADLAP
A3 #leadLAP New Principal this year after being an AP for 4 years. I am learning new things DAILY! And loving the added depth it has brought to my life. #E3mustangs
A3: Love this question! It’s a great practice to feel what learners feel and reflect on those feelings! Learning something new can make you feel vulnerable and even scared. How can we use those reflections to empower our kids? #LeadLAP
A3: This is a weird one. My daughter just began her braces prep. Step 1: Palate Expander. I had to learn how to insert the key and crank the expander open a bit at a time #LeadLAP
A3 last week I needed to learn how to take apart a new machine I had purchased for proper cleaning and be able to put it back together. It was a foreign process to me and I’m not mechanical so it was a great activity for me to research and then practice #leadLAP
A3: Recently I’ve learned the following new things: how to use a French press for ☕️! How to change out my car battery. Both are simple. Could argue that both are critical to getting where you need to be in the AM!
#leadlap
A3: Good question!! Honestly for the last couple of weeks I have taken the time to learn how to be a better mother. With the many life stressors of life and work, I found myself always busy and on the go, so now it’s about that 13 year old son of mine more than anything. #leadlap
